Bartellas in Gravesham

This restaurant never fails to impress. Ian and his staff are polite, knowledgeable and attentive. This evening we were served mostly by Frederico. He was a perfect host. My husband needed to return his steak as it was a quite well done medium rare. This was handled quickly and efficiently with a new plate provided before I had progressed too far with my main course. This meant we were able to finish our plates at a similar time. The restaurant was really busy but the tables weren't too close together and there was enough staff to stop the problem of waiting. Another lovely evening.... well done everyone (especially Frederico)

My partner and I picked Bartella’s for a date night as we live in the village but had a shaky experience before so don’t go often. Firstly I must say the young staff are an absolute credit to the place, extremely polite and helpful but unfortunately, they’re being orchestrated by an extremely rude, aggressive acting manager which isn’t the owner or son as I’ve found them very pleasant and make the experience worth while. This particular manager however, is so rude to his staff and made us completely on edge with his rank demeanour. He was the issue last time and he was certainly the issue this time. I cannot stand to see this young staff treated with this brutish behaviour when they all put him to shame in terms of customer service. The food was ok but unfortunately we were very much rushed which isn’t what you want when it’s your only meal out in a while. We left to go elsewhere in the end and left very gutted by the experience.

Was very keen to go to this place for 1st time. Wow a beautiful welcome from the front of house and had a lovely atmosphere and waiters and waitresses so polite and charming. We shared a starter and ordered for hubby calves liver which he said was just alright nothing special and I ordered the cod which came with chunky chips etc which I found tasteless and so much batter which was so very crispy when you cut into it my plate was very messy. Very disappointed. I did tell waitress my concerns very apologetic and no senior manager came to apologise. Will not be going back which is a shame as the place was nice and near to home

Excellent food service and atmosphere. There were 12 in our party and everyone enjoyed their time. The choice of food was varied and served promptly, and nothing was too much to ask for. Will definitely be returning. Try it out yourself, and you will be pleased.

Every single time we go to Bartellas, we are blown away by warmth and beautiful atmosphere, the incredibly good food, and most of all the outstanding service. Quick on their feet, always a smile on their faces and really helpful and polite. Bartella never disappoint.

28 Hartley WI members visited the restaurant recently for our Christmas meal at lunch time. The meal was excellent as was the service. The staff are always very helpful and friendly.

We visited here for a family gathering for Sunday lunch menu, from the minute we walked in we were greeted by several staff, couldn’t help but notice the beautiful xmas decorations throughout and the log fire, very inviting, from sitting at our table from start to finish all the staff were so attentive, especially the waitress called Milly, she was lovely and helped me choose from the menu by recommending dishes( too many nice choices lol) the med/rare roast sirloin of beef was delicious, coked to perfection, Thankyou Milly your recommendations will go far. Food was hot, fresh and very tasty, Thankyou all for a lovely dining experience and wish you all a very Merry Christmas xx

I visited Bartellas on Saturday with my family for a pre Christmas get together. I'm from Hertfordshire so I travelled a fair way to get here, my Brother knows this establishment well and recommended we come here. My family was not disappointed. The roaring fire and beautiful decorations greet you upon arrival and Ian and all the staff are attentive and welcoming when you step through the door. The restaurant is cosy and has a very nice ambience throughout. We were shown to our table and again, waiting staff were wonderful. Our food really varied between 13 people, but every plate was cleared which just shows you the quality of the food. We had nothing but praise for Bartellas, the food, the staff, and the ambience were all superb. Keep up the great work.

We had lunch here for my brothers 90th birthday. We could not have asked for more, the food, service and staff were outstanding, could not fault it in any way. So a huge thank you for making it such a memorable day. Mervyn Johnson

We visited with family and friends for our granddaughter’s birthday. In all there were ten in our party. The restaurant was quite busy, probably office ‘dos’. It was quite noisy, but that wasn’t the restaurant’s fault, just a couple of boisterous tables. Our food was good, which was what we expected. But what impressed us was the quality of service. The waiting staff were very professional and efficient, whilst nit being intrusive. They appeared to be working hard. When eating out, we usually decline to pay the service charge, but on this occasion it was well earned

I won a raffle prize of £100 for Bartellas. The covering letter understandably stated it could not be used for a monetary refund. Although the food was very good the restaurant emptied as a large number of diners left from an earlier sitting. Whilst we were still having our main course the staff proceeded to physically roll numerous table tops around our table and even left a stack of chairs in front of our table. Our bill was for £77 and we therefore expected to receive a credit for the remaining £23 which we would have used for our next visit. Despite speaking to the manager Ian he maintained no credit was due although the original letter stated the £100 was valid for one year and did not state it was valid for one visit only. My partner telephoned the following day and Ian said thankyou for the feedback and he will pass this onto the staff. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL WITH THE MANAGERS ATTITUDE.

We were a group of 20+, seated in our own room upstairs, for a celebratory Christmas lunch & I can safely say that we all enjoyed it! The service was very good - they were all very attentive. There was a 2 or 3 course set menu with plenty of choice. I chose the cod loin on a chickpea cassoulet for main course, which was really delicious. For desert I went for the Christmas pudding which was really good & served with a lovely, tiny mince pie too! The prices are very reasonable, so a very enjoyable afternoon!

Our experience was that this restaurant is really quite exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we discovered a level of service and quality that surprised us. The menu offers a good, interesting range of dishes. The food was beautifully prepared, using high quality ingredients. The staff were very courteous and attentive. It was all together a very pleasant evening. And even better, the prices were at a level comparable with those now charged by most restaurants... but the service and quality (in our experience) were definitely higher.

Had an exceptional lunch today with a large crowd. Food was delicious and the service was impeccable.

I have eaten in this restaurant more times than I can count but todays visit was disgraceful, was greeted at the door by a mature stocky manager I haven’t seen before, who didn’t let us get 5 foot in the door, was spoken to abruptly and told to go else where because they was busy. On the way back out the door even the table in the lounge turned round to us and said that was rude. I’m not sure if it was because we had kids with us or wasent a regular but either way we should be treated with a bit of respect.

Lovely Christmas decoration. As soon as we sat down they give us warm bread which was nice. I had baked Camembert, my husband had prawn cocktails. For main I had prawn and crab tagliatelle, so tasty and the tagliatelle was cooked to perfection. My husband had liver and bacon, it was very nice but the portion is small. Service was great, our waitress is very attentive and efficient, quickly to pick up empty glass and plate and ask for refill too. Will surely back and highly recommended

Just had a 60th birthday celebration on Saturday night for 16 people and the managemnt and staff made it an amazing experience. Couldn't fault any part of the evening, everyone was helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Your staff and the way they conduct themselves is a credit to you . . . Food was exactly what we wanted, all plates came out together and all three courses were excellent in every way. Thank you for your help in making my birthday meal a memorable experience.

As always amazing food. The waiter was a delight surprising my mum with a birthday dessert.

Sadly, tonight's service was slow and oversubscribed. Shame as time before they passed with flying colours. They seem to have lost it this time.

We had a really lovely evening with great friends at Bartellas the food was outstanding and the service from the staff was really proffesional and polite we were looked after from the moment we stepped inside to the moment we left , we would certanly be back and would highly recomend it .

We went to Bartellas for my birthday and had 3 large tables of people.and the service was amazing. They really cared that I had a good night, and all the little extras were brilliant, like a personalised menu and gift table plus Prosecco for everyone on arrival.

Had Vegan Pizza and Shepherds pie. Shepherds pie was tasty it lacked any real flavour. New potatoes were dry. A little Vegan butter would have made all the difference. The cheese on the pizza was not nice at all. Had a horrible flavour. Our waiter was efficient, however not one smile. No pleasantries whatsoever. We understand it's a hard job but it's nice to feel welcome. I doubt we will return.

A superb night ,usual high standards in service/food/cleanliness. Always a treat ....

Our friend took my partner and myself here as a Birthday present, staff were excellent, service was a little slow, but the restaurant was fully booked. We were a little disappointed with the food, as it seemed over cooked. I had whole Sea Bass with meditation veggies. By the time I took the head and tail off there was very little fish left to eat. My partner has steak (very expensive) asked for med rare. Over cooked. It was a shame as when we've been before in the week the food has been delicious, but because this was a Saturday night, I feel they were over stretched with the amount of covers, etc.

Visited for the first time since we moved away from Gravesend. Decided to come back for my husbands birthday. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, a very calm ambience and nice tables with plenty of space between. Staff very welcoming, professional, smiley and polite. Have to say the food is not close to what it used to be. The prawn starter was extremely crispy that you can barely taste the prawn. The prawn linguine was an absolute let down, this was baby shrimps at the most. Definitely not prawns. Creamed spinach was extremely washed down, beef wellington was good, as was the pizza. However I would say half of our order was less than average. The food isn’t cheap here, therefore you would expect much better. I won’t be retuning and making the drive, however if the food improves this would still be a great place to visit. I didn’t bring this to anyone’s attention as stated above, half of our order wasn’t great, therefore I would not expect half of our order to be revoked or changed to another dish.

We had a superb lunch, all cooked perfectly with amazing flavours. The waiting staff were attentive without being obtrusive. We wished one of our party a happy belated Birthday and athough no one had mentioned it to Bartellas after we had desert a surprise Happy Birthday plate topped with a candle was delivered, that's what you call service. As my 98 year old Mother has limited mobility I had requested a chair with arms which was waiting for her at the table. Nothing was too much trouble.

Invited out by my boss after we finished work for as he put it “a company treat” quiet when we arrived but was early and very quickly filled up as the evening went on. Food was faultless as was the service, the beef rib starter extremely good and I do not remember the last time I had such a good pizza (San Daniele but with extra topping of mushrooms !) a really enjoyable evening and I will 100% be goin back.

Izzy was a great waitress, very polite and friendly. The food was lovely and we all had a great time for our special occasion. We sat upstairs and had the party menu. Would recommend!

Recently had a wedding reception in The Salon (upstairs private room), can't fault the food or the service, Aaron our waiter was absolutely brilliant, was so attentive, would highly recommend a visit.

We were looking to grab a bite when driving through this area and went due to good reviews. Not disappointed. Large car park with plenty of free even on a Saturday afternoon, easy to call and reserve a table, fabulous choice of wine and cocktails. The food deserves a review of its own. We ordered a pear salad, which was heavenly. Mains were equally superb, generous portions, and really reasonable prices. Felt like were in rural France in the heart of Kent.

Have just been to Bartellas for my brother's wedding lunch. Food was delicious the atmosphere was perfect and the young man that served us was exceptional, so professional, polite and helpful

The third time I have been there and 2nd time I booked and paid. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like a great meal served in relaxing surroundings and with so friendly and efficient staff. Our waiter kept everything ticking over smoothly. The menu choice is extensive. And timing of service just right. No long waits but no rush either.

We often go to Bartellas on a Friday evening as we work hard all week and enjoy having great food and wine served by our favourite people when we can relax. Last Friday was no exception. The staff were so friendly and professional and the food was delicious. We are never disappointed and love to go there as often as we are able. Well done everyone xx

I recently dined at Bartellas in Meopham, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The food was absolutely amazing, with each dish perfectly prepared and bursting with flavour. But what really stood out was the exceptional service. The staff were incredibly attentive, especially to my disabled mother. They went above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable and had everything she needed. It's rare to find such genuine care and attentiveness, and it truly made our dining experience special. If you're looking for fantastic food and top-notch service, Bartellas is the place to go!

A beautiful early evening meal sat out under the awning. The sunny day to enjoy beautiful food, great service… I had a seafood risotto that was probably the best I’ve had. My partner had the salmon which was exquisite. We're comfortably full and very happy satisfied customers. Thoroughly recommend Bartellas to anybody…

The basic menu is Italian but the menu changes regularly. High quality food and attentive service. Quite expensive but not unreasonable.

Rather miserable experience tonight, food was good, but got the impression the staff couldn't wait for us to leave. We sat down to eat at 7pm and left by 9pm as we felt we were in the way. Perhaps they shouldn't take bookings for Sunday evening if they don't want diners to enjoy a leisurely meal.

I would highly recommend this fine dine-in restaurant. The staff are very friendly and you get quick service. Nothing was too much trouble. Shout out to Reg Francis our server.

Four of us dined here. The food was absolutely amazing the service was second to none even considering that the restaurant was extremely busy, the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and it was really good value for money. The best meal out for a long time our guests were as impressed as we were. Will definitely be returning and would recommend 100%

This was my first visit to Bartellas , we were in a group of 5 it was a birthday celebration of my friend , the service was excellent all the waiting staff work so hard ! , the young waiter that attended to us was such a friendly guy and good at his job , to be fair we did have to wait quite a long time for our mains and later we were all offered a complimentary drink because of this which most of us declined as some had drank enough but it was very appreciated . When our sweet was served the same waiter brought an extra plate with an ice cream and happy birthday written on the plate ! What a lovely gesture the person whose birthday it was suspected one of us had told the waiter but none of us did ! a really nice touch , we will most definitely pay another visit to Bartellas Kind regards Kevin

Our first time here but definitely not the last. From the moment we entered, we were greeted with smiles and friendly staff. We enjoyed a comfortable pre-drink in the bar area. The food ... just wow.... crayfish & prawn cocktail was fresh and delicious. The Leek & Mushroom Wellington was out of this world! We were served with polite & friendly & descreet staff. We returned to the bar area and was in awe of the professional bar staff who interacted whilst creating tantalising cocktails. A definite 5 🌟. Recommend 100%

This restaurant is a gem. You can tell that the owner puts so much effort and pride into the business. The food and drinks are great quality and atmosphere is always so welcoming. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Had a fabulous family meal , the food was lovely and the service was 1st class , 3 of us had roast dinners and it was delicious , the beef was melt in the mouth , homemade yorkies and plenty of fresh vegetables and tasty rich gravy couldn’t fault it . We will definitely be returning.

First visit to Meopham restaurant. Very pleased. Food was excellent. Only gripes were it was quite noisy & the wine for the price was very disappointing. Having said that we would definitely go back but maybe not on a Friday evening

We have just had a delicious meal here. There is ample parking and well signposted. A good ambience on arrival. The staff were attentive and swift with our service. The food was tender and tastefully served. My Weiner Schnitzel was tasty and the dessert of Baileys cream filled profiteroles was just perfect. Thank you and will certainly come again.
