Great service with a smile from a Scottish lady. Shame they don’t do sprinkles on their ice cream. And why oh why do they only accept cash. Everybody uses contactless and card these days. Will visit again.

I approached the kiosk at roughly 10:15 to be barked at that he wasn’t open yet… a simple ‘give me 10 minutes and I’ll be right with you’ would have been much better. I didn’t want to go back but we’d settled there and the kiddies were excited about ice cream. This time he just grumbled ‘I hope you’ve got change’ before I’d even asked for anything!! So rude and uncalled for

First 99 I’ve had in years, yes they’re no longer 99p but you can’t complain about that. £2.50 for one with a flake, and it was perfect. Could just do with some raspberry sauce!

Don't go here!!! Appalling owner who is simply just rude. When I went for an icecream he was playing on his phone and when I spoke he didn't bother to answer me, just kept playing on his phone. The food is over priced and very poor quality. I now buy from the lovely people in Richmond market square and then walk down to the river. The river side is a lovely place to visit and doesn't deserve to be spoilt by an ignorant owner like he is. Please DONT support this business.

We arrived at about 1pm. Menu was very basic but pricey. Staff did not seem particularly interested in their work.

Ice cream was sour - absolutely awful and no refund when we returned it! I’m appalled that the young attendant said nothing he could do! I said you can give me my money back and he flatly refused!! 😡😡xx

Tried to give zero stars. The ice-cream tasted bitter and off so I tried to return it, owner wasn't having a bar of it, told me it wasn't. I think I've eaten enough ice cream in my life to know when it doesn't taste right. I threw it in the bin, wish I'd dumped it on his counter and told the waiting customers not to buy the ice cream as it was horrible. Don't think he's heard of the customer is always right. Hope my little boy isn't ill from the lick he had and wish I'd tasted it before he did.

Perfectly placed in the car park and next to the river 'falls' serving whippy ice cream and basic food. We just had the basic ice cream and it was a bit too soft really (too much air added perhaps!) but ok. Jovial staff. and it looked clean.

I frequently pop down to the river and unfortunately this is the only place that you can get a drink or a snack. It's been here a long time and so it's fair to say it's established, the down side is it never seems to improve, it sells as you would expect ice creams and soft drinks and tea, coffee etc. but it always seems poor quality and tasteless rubbish, the ice cream is for an ice cream vendor quite poor and is almost melted as soon as it is offered to you and is tasteless compared to other local produced ice creams? Perhaps he needs to stop using that machine that makes ice cream out of powder and milk and simply buy quality products from an reputable supplier because it is expensive rubbish he sells. What's more his staff are not interested in serving you, the whole experience is unwelcoming, perhaps another cafe or kiosk would provide competition and he would have to up his game to get the business.

The best whippy ice cream we've come across anywhere near here. In fact we'd say you'll have to go to Ireland ;) Just a kiosk doing snacks and drinks as well as this wonderful ice cream, but the view of the River and falls more than makes up for anything else you may need ;)

We popped in on a Monday night as all the pubs in the immediate area that we usually go to don’t open on a Monday We arrive at 5:30 opening time and were hardly greeted by Shannon We hadn’t booked, but she found us a table There was a lovely selection of beers and wines and an amazing menu with specials of the day On Mondays they do a night where you can get a sirloin steak for £12 with all the trimmings They also specialise in seafood and there were a number of dishes this included prawns lobsters, monkfish et cetera Who made soup of the day was courgette and sweet potato and this is delicious Between us, we had a steak and kidney pie and there’s also an option of a steak and kidney pudding and two of us had prawn and lobster Thermidor, which was delightful There is a very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff are lovely and the toilets are clean. Thank you, Shannon to you and your colleagues and we very much look forward to our next physics

Ok for a coffee but the staff were terrified of any customers. Not allowed to use the toilet. Long wait for coffee. Shouted at to wear masks we were already wearing. Seemed paralysed by fear - I would avoid even trying to sit inside. They were happy for people to sit outside. Though it was raining hard. Such a shame as a delightful village and would have been a nice break from our walk.

Tried this lovely pub for the first time earlier this week with friends for an evening meal off the weekday menu. I had Scampi which was wholetail, light batter , served with the best chips I’ve had in ages . Others had chicken and burger, all were beautifully cooked and quality ingredients. Eaton Mess was spot on and the sticky toffee and custard had us drooling ! The atmosphere was what you’d want in a lovely cosy country inn, the owners were very friendly, service friendly and quick without feeling rushed. They also accommodated our 2 large dogs offering a nice treat and water. We loved it that much we’ve just returned from Sunday lunch !! Prawn cocktail starters were excellent, more prawn than salad 👍, soup, black pudding and bacon , all served with a warm crusty roll, all were very good. 3 of us had roast beef dinners and one roast pork - the veg was cooked perfectly, as were the mash and roast potatoes. Yorkshire pudding were just right. None of us could find space for a pudding but the menu has something for everyone. We shall most definitely return again.

The staff were very friendly and apologetic for the long wait, but despite the wait it was still a wonderful experience as the food was delicious!

Excellent place. Clearly this last year has new management as this was a very good experience for 10 of us for lunch en route to our long weekend in Leyburn. Cosy log fire. Welcoming hand pulled cask (theakstons) pulled properly. Food excellent so to the service. Kerb side from road hides a super set up from the back and inside.
