Barolo Bar & Restaurant in Chorley

We visited here on a Sunday for tea with family and loved it! Fast service which was great for hungry kids! Lovely staff and pizzas were yummy! We will def be coming back! Thank you

I visited this restaurant with my wife and daughter and met up with friends from University. There were 6 adults, one baby and one young child. It was a lovely sunny day, the restaurant was just getting busy with lots of other families and children. It has a lovely atmosphere and nice layout. The food was delicious and the service friendly and authentic. It felt like an old school, family owned business. On top of this, the prices were reasonable for what everybody ordered. Overall a great dining experience.

A very enjoyable evening. Greeted by a friendly & professional Maitre D’ and shown to our table. We were offered menus , maybe a drink, while we waited a few minutes for family to join us. Service was attentive & not rushed as we chose our dishes. All of us really enjoyed our starters, main course & desserts and couldn’t fault the service. I can recommend the pasta dishes , all cooked perfectly with a quality sauce & of a good sized portion. Will return again.

I hardly ever complain about things but please see below. Ridiculously small portions and customer service. Had a takeaway last night and for starters had spare ribs. Only three of the smallest ribs I have ever seen. Contacted Barola to tell them only to be told that you only get three ribs, £9 minus 10% they cost, and when I explained about other eating places, Little Hong Kong and Marinos at Fulwood Preston serving bigger portions he told me to go there in future. When I opened the Lasagna carton it looked like it was split into three equal portions. The middle one was the Lasagna and the outer two was just cheese sauce!!!! Please see attached photos and I locertainly will not be going back there. On a positive note, the portions which were a third of the size you would expect tasted very good.

Not been for a few months and will not return, service was dreadful. No one had any professionalism. We arrived spot on time and shown to table, it took 20 minutes before they took drinks order and a further 20 mins to bring to table, Food was ordered and we waited 45 mins and nothing arrived, this was brought to their attention and yet no food served, after waiting an hour we then told the staff on reception desk we were leaving,we got a very flat “ oh sorry about that”. Simply not good enough.

I went to this restaurant to celebrate Christmas with a friend and Claudio and Ernesto were fantastic in making our experience extraordinary. The food cooked by Claudio was tasty, plentiful and very original and Ernesto was very friendly and genuine; we will definitely be back.

Very disappointing restaurant experience. Long wait for table. Drinks service very slow. Quality of food poor - undercooked pizza (order was wrong), starter left sitting under service counter for approx 10 mins). Clearly restaurant was very busy and perhaps had booked more tables than staffing could cater to? However staff pretty unapologetic for issues. They did take 2 items off bill, at my request. Would not recommend

Our grandkids, by name & disposition, are pizza fiends! So we went to Barolo! 6pm Sat night! Pretty busy already! We spent a while choosing from an extensive menu! We chose eats & drinks! The total staff team were pretty good. All came fairly timely! All thoroughly enjoyed from 3 yo to 73! Service charge added - we went 1/2s with them. Still busy when we left about 8! Worth a second visit!

Brilliant food and service. Can’t fault the place. 8 people had food and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended and worth the trip out that little bit further for us.

Above average food, went to leave a £20 tip to be told I had already been charged a service charge. I think that should be my choice. I know I was charged less than the tip I was leaving, but I think that should be my choice.

5th visit in 5 months and another incredible meal! The seafood is extremely fresh and there is always excellent options available on the specials. Friendly and welcoming staff, great atmosphere and we will definitely be returning. Can’t recommend it enough!

Birthday meal was fantastic couldn’t fault it loved the surprise coffee cake at the end thank you very much for making it as amazing as it was.

We've had many lovely meals here previously. The best was a random Thursday evening when it was heaving & every course was perfection for 7 of us, so really disappointed this time. For starters we had mushrooms & calamari. 10/10 both were delicious. Young man waiting on us was very good but 3 times we had to ask for drinks for our main courses. At this point, there was only us & 1 other table in the restaurant & there were 2 other staff members & who I thought, could be one of the owners serving drinks from the bar. They were not supporting his efforts & drinks arrived as we were half way through the mains. No apologies for the lateness. Mains were seafood spaghetti & smoked salmon tagliatelle. Seafood spaghetti was the better of the two but the sauce lacked any depth of flavour. The salmon had a tomato cream sauce & had little flavour of smoked salmon. Overall, I didn't feel valued as a customer tbh, where before it was my first choice, I'd regrettably not rush back.

Me and my husband went for tea at barolos on 29th April for my 30th birthday. The food and service was absolutely amazing, couldn’t fault it. We go to barolos a couple times a year and have never had any issues. Food is always amazing and reasonably priced. Don’t let the bad reviews put you off. This place is one of the best!

We arrived before our booking time but where only shown to our table an hour later, the service was very poor as was the over priced food. All members of our party had things wrong with our meals. Some of the meals we received didn’t match the menu descriptions. Over cooked steak, lack of vegetables and what we got was overcooked, poor salads. DEFINITELY WILL NOT GO AGAIN

As a weekly visitor to Barolo it saddens me to see disapointing reviews. The restaurant is fabulous for families/couples and for all occasions. The staff are second to none and work very hard. The chefs are fantastic and the food is always 'molto bene' I always choose from the specials that are changed weekly - which makes it refreshing! If you are visiting and are in a rush I am sure if you mention to the staff they will seat you pretty quickly. Personally I like to enjoy my time out in the restaurant and savour the flavours. More often than not they have to kick me out at closing time. I much prefer not to be pressured into having a timeslot to eat in like most restaurants do nowadays. Welldone staff at Barolos - 55/10 from us!

Booked meal for 7.30pm for partners birthday with family. We waited in the bar until 8.30pm when a waiter finally arrived to take our order and eventually shown to our table at 8.35pm. 3 of us had ordered Funghi Ripeni to start . When it came it was dried up and looked and tasted as if it had been left on the side and then warmed up. I left most of it and told the waitress the reason when she collected the plate. The lasagna wasn't much better either. Will not be returning.

atmosphere is nice! however customer service was poor, we had booked a table for 19:00 but we weren’t seated until 19:30. we weren’t too phased however our orders weren’t taken for a long time and the food took ages to be served. once we had finished the plates weren’t cleared. the food was ok. the spaghetti bolognaise was dry?! the pizzas were better than the pasta so if your going would recommend getting a pizza.

Whilst my wife had a tender filet steak I chose a rib eye. This was the first rib eye steak I have ever encountered that had been beaten so thinly it was no longer anything like a rib eye. Great service staff, but the evening was spoilt by an over enthusiastic chef who must have thought a rib eye needed to be barely one millimetre thick, pity really as everything else was o.k.

First time visit. Outstanding in every way; a very warm welcome from helpful staff. The food was absolutely fantastic and the portions were generous and reasonably priced We will definitely return

Fantastic Italian - superb food and amazing service. The Calzone was the best I have ever had. Open kitchen and the chefs looked so laid back and managed a wave and smile for my 4 year old grandson while cooking our amazing food. Would thoroughly recommend as best Italian food in Chorley/ Preston area and we have tried them all! The Maitre D' was smart, efficient, enthusiastic and so friendly. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

My first visit to Barolo was for a birthday meal. The restaurant provided a welcoming, fresh, vibe, whilst the staff, were friendly, attentive and engaging. Well what can I say about the food, apart from wow. The mussels starter was delicious and a hearty-sized portion, the rib eye steak (and vegetables) was cooked to perfection and the cheese board…. This was the largest solo cheese board that I’ve ever had! The cheese, itself, was various and tasty, and I didn’t run out of crackers! The red onion chutney was a winner, too! This was a fantastic experience, at a restaurant that provided all the right ingredients, for a wonderful evening. Thank you 😊

Excellent food, service and atmosphere..you have to try here it is amazing. We have been several times but booked for 16 people last night for my husbands 50th birthday. Everyone enjoyed their food, steaks are outstanding. The service was above and beyond. Thanks guys so much for making it such a special evening

A bit of a mixed review - overall enjoyed our visit but were a little underwhelmed. As a starter we shared a garlic bread, which was a little undercooked, then my husband’s calzone main was a little overcooked - nothing sufficient to warrant a complaint. I went for a straightforward lasagne which was nice. Service was reasonably quick apart from a long wait for our desserts. Staff were absolutely lovely so 5 stars for that part. The restaurant is nice inside with a good ambiance, and has an extended bar seating/lounge area which was new from the last time we visited last year. One thing we particularly didn’t like was the table where we were seated - positioned to ‘block off’ the walk through to the new lounge area - people were constantly walking past our table and we felt a bit ridiculous sat there. We will visit again but will probably leave it for quite a while

Really looking forward to visiting this restaurant but was disappointed with our experience. I had the garlic mushrooms to start and served with no garlic butter sauce and my main of the meatballs only five really average size and again not much sauce felt really disappointed. My wife had garlic king prawns in garlic.for starters and was really impressed and for mains her smoked chicken pancetta risotto was amazing. So two very different reviews but we will try this Italian one more time.

Visited early evening. Service and food was excellent. Seafood Pizza and Salmone Aromatizzat which was my dish was simply fab! Open kitchen and friendly professional staff. Would definitely recommend. Thanks
