Absolutely dreadful experience! The one saving grace was the female waitstaff, who at least tried to make up for the rest of this disaster. My food arrived long after everyone else’s, and when my ribeye finally made an appearance, it was paired with sad, dried-out roast potatoes. Nowhere on the menu did it mention this – who serves roast potatoes with a steak? When I asked the waiter if it should’ve come with chips, his attitude was awful, like I was inconveniencing him just by daring to ask. As for the steak itself, what a letdown. The cut was cheap and chewy, nowhere near the quality you’d expect for a £29 ribeye. I’d ordered it well-done, but it showed up closer to medium – if that. I left feeling totally disappointed and frustrated. If you’re going to charge a premium, at least deliver something worthy of it.

Ordered 2 pizzas which came in a matter of minutes and had and were not hot.. They were no better that your average £3.99 aldi pizzas. Definitely not freshly made and soggy crust and only warm. Avoid the pizza here.

Both food and atmosphere were excellent. Staff were attentive and the food very pleasing indeed. I especially enjoyed my fish dish.

This is the second occasion we have ordered takeaway food from this restaurant from the main menu. Our circumstances were as such on this occasion was that we could not attend the restaurant. On my initial enquiries to the restaurant the staff could not have been more welcoming and attentive for a planned 80th birthday dinner . One collection of the order on the night the food hot well prepared and presented. Our guested remarked on how much they liked the food . I would have no hesitation in using this service again.

Me and my partner come here on special occasions and when we visit family as its 150 miles from our home but is a special place for both of us. Today I was extremely disappointed. As it was my partners birthday I made a special booking and it would have been nice for cake and music, however everything was not special. We got put in the corner of corners with children continuity coming near out table, no one came to check if the food was ok and no cake or music for my partner. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning

Food usually good quality with the exception of their roast potatoes on the Sunday lunch. They're pretty poor. Staff always friendly and professional

We recently visited Papa Luigi’s and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff, setting the tone for a fantastic evening. What made the evening even more special was the service. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, making sure our glasses were always filled and offering great recommendations from the menu. They went out of their way to ensure everyone, from the youngest to the oldest at the table, felt welcome and well cared for. The pasta was cooked perfectly with sauces that were rich and flavourful. Dessert was also divine. This is an absolute gem for families who love great Italian food paired with exceptional service. We’ll definitely be returning! Highly recommend.

We visited on a Monday as a family after hearing good things. It’s really not good, the service was inattentive, unfriendly and lacking basics. The food has to be some of the cheapest, poorest quality ingredients I’ve ever been served in a restaurant. The wine for £8 a glass was well below par also. We won’t be returning.

Awful service miserable staff, our waitress was pestering us to leave before we even ordered food giving us a very small time frame. She then had the audacity to walk past the table and tap her watch at us! The food was alright for the price but even going to pay we were greeted with awful tones and awful service. I have been visiting here for years with my parents. Myself and my partner decided to take my mum for her birthday meal, and I have to say for me it will be the last time. The food has dropped drasticly in quality since last time. My parners '3' prawns just tasted of cream and were of poor quiality, not cheap at £14 for a starter either. My brushetta was also dissapointing, it was tasteless with no seasoning or balsamic vingar on the tomatos. 2 of the 3 pizzas were raw in the middle, and the quality of the toppings were also of poor quiality. No one came to ask if we would like any more drinks as they have done one previous visits, we ended up going to the bar to order. I went to pay the bill and was asked how our meal was, i explained the above, and all the lady on the counter said was sorry about that, we will do better next time. Unfortunately there won't be a next time,£96 wasted on a poor experience.

Works Christmas do, been here a few times. The gluten-free choices are good. The place itself has a good atmosphere and clean. The staff lovely, couldn't ask for more. Thank you and see you again in 22 ❤️ Still go here it's now 2024. Food is still as good, staff still as helpful and friendly.

Reading the reviews on here proves the English will literally eat anything served to them and think it's tasty. No authentic Italian would eat this food. I ordered Rustic Pizza, arrived uber fast [therefore not cooked fresh] & tasted like cardboard. Sorry guys but just being honest.

As usual the food was fantastic. Started off with Garlic Mushrooms followed by Calzone pizza and topped off with Banoffee pie. The Calzone is still the best i've tasted anywhere and the Banoffee pie was just right to finish off a fantastic lunch. Shame no room left for the coffee.

Surprise birthday lunch for my friend, food was absolutely delicious, set lunch menu, ooh the mushrooms and smoked salmon pate, then tge pork and the cod, and a lovely surprise for her a slice of cake with a candle she was so so surprised. Staff were ever so busy but their attention was second to non. Certainly recommend Papa Luigi

Great Food, service was soo rushed. CHECK YOUR BILL!!! Especially if a large group, they added things on, and 3 times I had to get this rectified! And the lady/Manager was not very apologetic, just like yeah whatever. Very Dissapointing.

Been going here for 30 years! Amazing Italian food, if you’ve not been you need to make a visit. Staff are so friendly & attentive.

As soon as we arrived, the atmosphere was a buzz! The staff were on hand right away to serve us. After getting drinks at the bar, it wasn’t long till our orders were taken. My daughter’s coeliac disease was absolutely no problem for the staff or chef to cater for and their options were lovely. As soon as we sat down, our starter came within minutes and all our food came out hot and well presented. The cuisine was second to non! It was our first time coming tonight & it beats their rivals hands down!! We have already decided what to we want to order for our next visit! The staff were very attentive and the restaurant was very clean and well organised!

I know why its so cheap to eat here. My food was inedible, I didn't eat my starter or my main. Everyone on my table complained that the food was salty and could barely finish. I ordered basic food and was shocked you could go so wrong. Staff were kind and helpful but the atmosphere feels rushed to get you in and out to sit more people and honestly I am not one to complain especially as it was a graduation meal for a family member I didn't want to ruin the occasion, but as we all shared the same views we did mention at the end the food wasn't as expected.

Really enjoyed my meal and the rest of my group enjoyed theirs as well. The cannelonis came out still bubbling and were very good as well as the other meals. The desserts were also very good. The staff were helpful and service was relatively quick. The food was reasonably priced, especially with a £6.95 meal of pasta or pizza on Mondays. The restaurant was a little bit noisy as well as busy and it was slightly difficult to hear but overall a very good restaurant.

Decent food nice atmosphere and friendly helpful staff, the only thing I was surprised about and all of us said the same about how spicy the food was for an Italian but it was still enjoyable none the less

What a wonderful place. As a disabled person they helped me out greatly. We were not able to eat a full meal there as had already eaten so we chose two puddings to go with our coffee and lager. Tiramisu and chocolate fudge cake. Can honestly say they were the best we had ever eaten . Staff were also brilliant and even refused money I offered for helping me out so much. Cannot wait to get back to eat a full meal here in such lovely surroundings with such kind and warm staff.

Have never eaten here, but only ever heard positive feed back. Cousins birthday, I do not live in the area so rang to order some bottles of bubbles for the table. Only writing this as experience was very upsetting and I am still shocked. I spoke with a lady, explained cousin having birthday dinner (I did get name wrong that table was ordered under) so wanted to make sure was correct table. She said I was loud and shouting. I have a loud voice (nodules on voice box). But its also naturally loud as well. I do not raise my voice, it is not my style also my voice loud enough. It doesnt need raising. We finally worked out correct table, I then thought she had gone to get payment machine. But she just hung up. So I called back, another waitress answered. I explained previous call and again asked if I could pay over phone for bottles of bubbles. I was asked to wait a moment whilst she fetched the machine. Whilst I waited I had to listen to what herself and the first waitress were saying about me. Won't lie, it was very upsetting and I'm quite a tough cookie. Completely unnecessary and unprofessional as well as hurtful. When she came back on phone I politely told her I heard all their conversation, she went quiet and apologised then asked if still wanted the bubbles. I politely replied 'I don't think so'. Not sure what to take away from this experience. At least cover phone or put on hold if your going to talk badly about someone who wishes to spend money whom you have never met............

Been coming here for years, on various evenings including Mondays, Saturday evenings & the odd week night, but the last few times the food hasn't been as good, it's like they are using cheaper ingredients, I've had most of the menu aswell, Garlic breads have been burnt, hardly any cheese on them, Calazone just tasted of onions & peppers with a watery tomato sauce, my lasagne I had the last few times was tasteless & I've had better pizzas from a takeaway, yes you pay for what you get, seen lots of staff come & go over the years, now how can you call this an Italian when not one single Italian actually works there, they are all Hungarian, so to me it isn't an authentic Italian restaurant like it used to be years & years ago, also for anybody visiting, please do not give staff tips as the management seems to keep them, I only got told this from a member of staff, so my overall impression is I won't be rushing back in a hurry. Sorry Papas but I'm just giving my honest opinion on my last few visits & what I've experienced

Had lovely wild mushroom risotto last Monday at just £5.99. Mondays are pasta, pizza and risottos all £5.99. Exceptional price and quality. Will definitely be back for more.

This has been one of my local restaurants since I have lived in the area (forever). It has always kept up its reputation of a lovely Italian restaurant perfect for birthdays and celebrations. I visited this weekend for an evening meal and it didn’t disappoint. Staff were lovely and provided a great service and the food was very tasty, with generous portions. My niece is a vegetarian and has quite a limited diet, they were happy to provide to a simple spaghetti Napoli and do have a note on the menu highlighting the veggie and vegan options are available. Visited this authentic Italian again today, never fails to provide a high quality service. Friendly and attentive serving staff, relaxed atmosphere and modern decor. The food is always cooked to perfection with exquisite seasoning. I would highly recommend a visit, Reasonably priced for high quality services.

Had my first visit here last week. We were a group of 12, and we had such great service from start to finish. We had the Monday deal, which was such good value. I had the pasta deal for £5.95. The food was so fresh and piping hot. We shared some garlic bread between us, which were also lovely. We will definitely be back We visited again tonight in a group of 10. It was busier tonight, so some things weren't as good as the first time we came. We ordered 4 garlic breads, and only 2 came out, and we had to reorder the other 2. All our food arrived and was very tasty but we didn't have spoons so we had to wait for those. I know these are only little things x

Just recently called up to place an order for collection, the receptionist who received the call and answered after we politely asked if we can place the order replied “yes 1 minute” and left me on hold for 10/15 minutes listening to her have conversations with other customers and staff members… if they’re too busy to take orders at that moment in time good customer service would mention this immediately

Party of 7. Great pasta however the few mussels were all closed. The sea bass main was awful split sauce unpleasant taste on overcooked fish. Inedible roast potatoes and the whole meal was like leftovers reheated. This is the third time eating here and 2 out of 3 visits we were overcharged. This time nearly £60 was added to our bill. Still waiting for refund to show. Disappointed.

Our food was fine. No problem. But if you're in the back area you have to keep walking out to the front to get wait staff for anything. And if a couple of people order fish at the same time, the whole restaurant smells of fish for ages because the kitchen is right next to the tables. They need stronger extractor fans.

Just had Mother's Day Lunch at Papa Luigi's and we cannot fault a single thing. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive, service was swift and very professional, all of which must be difficult to achieve during a busy service period!

Arrived at 6.15 for a booking for 6.30pm. People came after 6.30 had orders taken and sat. We had almost finished a drink by the time we were taken to our table at around 6.50/6.55. By 7.30 we ordered another drink. By 7.45 (only 50 minutes at the table) very much got the impression by one server that we needed to give our table up. I understand the restaurant was / is busy on Monday evening. However we had literally just finished mains, and was 5 minutes into our second drink. Sorry I cannot recommend the service. However food was OK.

Absolutely brilliant Italian restraunt. Me and friends who had recently got married, went there on a Monday to celebrate and the atmosphere was absolutely lovely, as well as the food! Value wise Mondays are cheaper, however to be honest I would go any day of the week because it's just worth it. This is a place where you would feel comfortable having a black tie event as well as a smart casual one.

Visited here a fair few times,it's my boyfriends and his family's favourite restaurant. We went last Saturday which was packed as it was weekend before valentines day but we were seen to promptly and the food we had was really good as it always is. Very reasonably priced too,my boyfriend tried the chicken parmigiano special and there was easy enough to feed two, I tried the penne isla which I'll certainly have again. Stuffed mushrooms are stunning and so was the cheesy garlic bread. Suitable menu for all ages,tastes and preferences. Highly recommend, the staff are brilliant too.

Went with family for a birthday. I have certain dietary requirements, I checked my food when it arrived and it looked like there was cheese on it, I had a family member taste to check, she thought it was so I asked the staff she then very loudly daid it wasn’t, she went on about it for a while and the whole restaurant went quiet I felt embarrassed and made an example of. As the main arrived the staff went round with the cheese, sprinkling it over peoples food I said no and put my hand over my bowl as cheese can make me very poorly the member of staff then very loudly said I KNOW again making an example. We then ordered 2 drinks later in the evening we waited 40 mins whilst others drinks arrived which had been ordered after ours so we just told staff not to bother. I definitely will not be going back, I have a dietary issue and was embarrassed by the staff. Very disappointed

My wife and i went for Xmas dinner yesterday and the whole experience was fabulous. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all brilliant. Mica and his team worked very hard to ensure that everyone in the full restaurant were kept “ fed and watered “ throughout and they all did it with big smiles on their faces. Thank you to the whole team, we have already booked for next year !!

First visit and would highly recommended. Seafood risotto was fabulous, as we're all my friends dishes. Good value for money too. Table was a little cramped with not much elbow room but hey, it is Christmas and very busy. Thank you, we'll be back.

Lovely visit food was delicious

Went for an early evening meal which was quite lucky as they have an early bird menu. Priced at £19.99 you might expect that the portions would be small, far from it. We all had superb meals. It's been quite a few years since we have been here but we will be going back VERY soon

Absolutely beautiful food at a very reasonable price with excellent service. My only gripes would be that the tables are a little bit close together and I only reluctantly left a tip after finding out that all the tips go to the management without the servers receiving a share.

Big occasion Birthday and we had a lovely time great food. Only negative was the toilets weren't disable friendly hence she did not go due to her concerns which was sad for us. Other than that top notch

Visited today with a large family party. Service was a little catotic but the food was absolutely perfect. We had lots of different starters, mains and deserts, all were well presented and tasty.

Been here many times over the years. I took my boys and mum on Monday evening, luckily they fitted us in as it was really busy. They have an amazing deal on a Monday and pizza or pasta dish £5.99. the portions are normal size and they are delicious. I had the lasagne and a rocket salad. My son's had Bolognese and carbonara they both said it was really good. Mum had a pizza with chicken and sweetcorn which was nice but the base could have been cooked more. Overall a great evening , the staff are brilliant and the atmosphere was great with it being so busy. I highly recommend trying here and they do deals during the week, so a good opportunity to try it for a very reasonable price.
