The food has always been good or very good, but do not expect a luxury dining environment the building and dining room are becoming damp and a bit smelly, the lavatories are well below standard small touches with regard to interior decor, or lack of, would make a huge difference-not a place you would wish to linger over good food

We came here to collect our takeaway while we were staying in a nearby b&b and I have to say the building was beautiful and the staff were so friendly. The gentleman behind the bar was very friendly and when our food came it was the best Indian meal I have ever eaten. We had balti chicken shashlick, masala sauce and all the extras and sides and I would absolutely eat here again.

Barn India is just a few miles up the road from whre we live, but although we had heard of it we had never been - what had we missed! A very friendly welcome to this lovely spacious barn conversion, a vaguely familiar menu (as the same family run the excellent London House Restaurant in Eccleshall) with a huge choice of starters and main courses. The food was of superb quality and plentiful, with attentive but unobtrusive service. Can't believe that we'd never had the pleasure of visiting here before, but we'll certainly be back for more - soon!

Visited Barn India for the first time this evening (Friday night), the building is beautiful and set in a lovely location. The staff were very friendly and catered to our every need. I asked for a recommendation of what to eat and was delighted with the dish I had which was a spicy tomato garlic lamb dish. The food was all very fresh and flavoursom. Will be going back for sure. It's moderately priced and we were over all really pleased :)

This was our second visit for the Banquet meal. This time, customer service was much better. In fact it was superb. Ali ( Manager I think) really looked after us. We didn't have to wait long for the starters or between starters and mains. The Banquet offer and dishes available was well explained to us. Our 5-item starter with salad and raita sauce was fresh and tasted nice. As my girlfriend is veggie and I am a meat-eater she had two medium-size veg curries for mains and I had a medium sized chicken jalfrezi and lamb & potato balti. The vegetable curries had a wide variety of vegetables in them. My meat curries had tender lean meat in them with no fat or gristle. The only niggle with my meat curries was that the onions in both dishes were a little under cooked. I would describe all four main-course curries we had as good "belt and braces" curries that were very good but again NOT excellent or fine dining. This time we had a naan bread and a plate of rice each which was generous. Last visit we had to share a small rice and one naan between us! If you have the banquet meal you definitely won't go away hungry!!!!! We were stuffed and my girlfriend left some food which we took home courtesy of Ali. Overall it's great value and the cost, just £9.95 per person.

Read reviews on trip advisor and was looking forward to the meal. On pulling up on the car park all looked good. Once inside met with enthusiasm and quickly seated. On looking at the menu the food seemed reasonably priced. Drinks ordered and poppadoms and dips arrived very nice. Starters arrived and were very nice. Only letdown was the main course. Sides of rice and naans were good but the actual curry was very bland and no kick to it. Did mention this to the waiter and he said don't order it again then😡 Never asked if we wanted a dessert or coffee. Shan't be rushing back.

Visited one evening in December. Food was nice, not many diners, intrusive ambient background music that was way too loud. Only one member of staff serving & he was sullen, didn’t make an effort, smelt of stale cigarettes & was conspicuous by his absence when we needed service. We took friends out for dinner here & we had told them it was a lovely restaurant (we have been a couple of times before), but this visit embarrassed us. Not saying we won’t return but it might be a few months before we do, perhaps we caught them on an ‘off night’.? Such a shame as we live in the village & it would be nice to have a decent Indian restaurant.

My girlfriend and I had the Wednesday night Banquet meal recently. The cost is 9.95 per person. My girlfriend is a veggie, I am a meat-eater. We had a lovely mixed starter which included about 6 food items and some salad on a large plate with a jug of raita sauce. It was good quality and tasted fresh. For the main meal we got four different curry dishes of medium size. Two were vegetarian and two included meat. The dishes were nicely spiced, with good ingredients, tender meat with little gristle and a medium to hot chilli level as requested. The veggie dishes had a large variety of vegetables in them. Both the veggie and meat dishes tasted great!! The only downside is that you get what you are given and cannot choose from a list of dishes as if they were on a menu. For us this was okay, but may not suit everybody. The only allowance they made for us was for my vegetarian girlfriend and the fact we wanted a medium to hot chilli level so they didn't give us a korma which others got. There wasn't a lot of meat in the meat dishes but it was sufficient. With our main meals we got a small plate of drab looking rice but this tasted okay and we got a medium-sized naan. Not two as suggested in the review below this one. The naan was good but not excellent. We were both stuffed after our Banquet meal and I'm a fairly big eater!!!! The restaurant has Cobra lager on draught. Overall our food was pretty good but not excellent. Maybe that's because it was a special offer. However it was still good value. Service was a tad slow, bearing in mind only three other tables were occupied. But we would rather wait a bit for nice quality food!!! The restaurant building is oldie worldie with a good vibe and the view through the windows is rural. The location is in the middle of nowhere!!! The staff told us that more special offers are coming, not just the banquet on a Wednesday night. They told us that they have sister restaurants Ashley Spice in Ashley and have taken over New Ambrosia (used to be Chinese) in Loggerheads which will become Indian fine dining.

I last visited here in 2013 and it still ranks as the worst curry I've ever had, until now. Rob, the owner of The Grange dog kennels in Buerton, persuaded me to give it another go - takeaway this time, en route back home. I had the Barn India special and it was, again, a huge disappointment and I ended up throwing most of it away. The pakora's were inedible......soggy with fat and tasteless. Maybe I've been unlucky, but I can only judge based on my two experiences. In my view, the food isn't very good and I won't be chancing a third visit.

Have kept meaning to pay a visit here, not too far from home and lovely building, visited a few times under the previous ownership/cuisine style but fussy younger esters meant we only finally got around to it tonight but will certainly be back. Quick phone call just after opening time to check availability went unanswered, but I was called back within moments asking how they could help and promptly had my table reserved for me. We were pleasantly greeted and taken straight to our table, drinks and poppedums offered quickly with plenty of time then given to peruse the menu - which you need, there's a wide selection of varied dishes and they are all fairly similar in price and all sound delicious! Choices made, special requests met with no question, we enjoyed our meal with attentive (but critically, not intrusive) service and happily paid the bill - not the cheapest Indian restaurant we've eaten at, but you can't expect freshly prepared, quality ingredients in generously portioned meals with excellent service for the price of a chippy tea..... although if you prefer to eat at home, they offer a takeaway service too.

Despite the challenge this presented the staff everyone got their food served in good time, hot, freshly made and very tasty indeed. Jalfrezi was a highlight for me, nice spice kick to it...tikka masala was a scary red colour and a little odd tasting...it was the only dish that wasn't cleared by our table of 10. Great event, good food and nice staff that all joined in the fundraising...well worth the trip from Shrewsbury!

I've been going to the Barn India since it opened. The food is of a high quality, the meat is not fatty and the staff are friendly and polite. When I read the negative reviews they are generally people who have only been once which colours the score. We have had one negative experience which was when we ordered food for pickup and when we got home the Tikka Mossalla had had salt added twice instead of salt and sugar. The manager drove round with a fresh one within 15-20 minutes. Having worked in restaurants before I know that if there is a staff shortage or a busy night you can have some bad nights. Being a regular customer I will continue to use this takeaway and visit the restaurant. If ou are reading this and have had a bad experience there and it was your first time I'd advise you to try it again. If you still don't like it fair dos.

My husband and I visited on 25th April for a birthday. We had been recommended to this restaurant by several people. When we walked in, I commented that I couldn't smell any of the normal Indian spices/garlic AND the place was FREEZING! After we were seated, the waiter came over to ask what drinks we wanted, we asked for another 5 minutes, after about 15 minutes he took the drinks order and the food order. I selected prawn patia on purée, normally spicy but sweet, this tasted like it had just sugar added and I did tell the waiter. My hubby had negris which was ok but he has had better. My main was chicken balti shashlick which is listed as medium hot on the menu. If I had ordered a chicken kebab from the local kebab shop, it would have had more taste and spice, again, we pointed this out and the waiter said to order next time but ask for more spice ! (There won't be a next time )There was obviously a staffing issue as the glasses and bottles were piled up on the bar. We waited about an hour for our mains which was ok, I wouldn't mind that if the food was good. We paid and left as soon as we could, desperate to get home to the warmth! They didn't even say goodbye either! Will not be going back Visit Ashley Spice, the food is amazing and it's owned by the same people apparently! A world apart...

I've been looking forward to visiting for some time, now i've been i will unlikely return. Atmosphere was great, company was great, the setting is great even the service wasn't bad either, but my food had no taste...and sadly i did the terribly british thing and said when asked...no everything is fine!!! I had the choke chicken which whilst reading the ingredients list should have had ginger in it...well if it did..it was so subtle i couldn't taste it. For my main i had the green lamb masala, i thought I'd try something new, what a disappointment, it tasted like lamb cooked in gravy!! When i got home my partner actually asked if i had actually been for a curry!! The only saving grace was the poppadoms and chutneys, they were delicious. Other members of the party were happy with their choices apart from a chicken tikka masala tasting like a Korma. If i do go again (which is unlikely), i will order something I've eaten before and see if this was a one off. Drinks are also very expensive.

Got off to a pretty bad start waiting 20 minutes after our 8pm reservation till we were seated. Had to wait around 15 minutes for our drinks after ordering them. It took far too long for a waiter to finally take the orders for food, and did so without a smile or any form of warm reception. We waited over half an hour to be served with mediocre starters followed by over an hours wait to be served our lukewarm going on cold and bland main courses. We were served lamb jalfrezi (instead of the duck we ordered) and lamb tikka (instead of chicken) and were charged for the more expensive duck, despite much debate about it actually being lamb (which it clearly was). Throughout the duration of the meal no one asked how we were enjoying our food or whether we were in need of more drinks, leaving us resorting to flagging down the inattentive staff. Underwhelming, clearly shop bought desert (I had an unfortunately dry chocolate cake with no cream or ice cream side to make it more endurable.) I am not normally one to write reviews or to be particularly picky about restaurants but I can honestly say this resonates as my worst dining out experiences to date.

First of all, you have to drive to get to Barn India, on the A525: which is the main highway linking Newcastle and Whitchurch.Secondly, there (current) website on their tripadvisor page is a bit bizarre, as it provides no information about the restaurant itself, so you cannot get an idea of what's on the menu (and what it costs)Thirdly, and most importantly, this is a great place to eat. A group of six of us went midweek in early July, on a beautiful evening. The place was quiet (diners at only two other tables, and no one came after we arrived). The food was delicious, well prepared, and good-sized portions, too. Very nice beer on tap; also an extensive wine list. A large range of dishes, including (unsurprisingly) much for the vegetarian.Woore is a tiny village; Keele and Newcastle to the east, and Crewe to the north, are somewhat larger. Barn India deserves your business!

Barn India is, as the name suggests, an Indian restaurant in a lovely converted barn with high ceilings and trusses and set in an idyllic rural location. On a recent visit, the whole meal for all members of our party was excellent and the staff were warm, friendly, helpful and efficient. However, I do have several small niggles:-1. The path through the pretty garden from the car park to the entrance was covered in weeds.2. Near to the entrance, the path was absolutely covered in cigarette butts - we almost found ourselves walking through them.3. The trusses above our heads in the restaurant were festooned with cobwebs.I believe that these three issues could easily be rectified at little cost and then cease to be a diversion from all the good things about this place. In additional to this, the car park has now got lots of potholes. Fixing these is bound to be a costly business but the problem is only going to get worse. Finally, the five-bar gate between the car park and the road was falling off its hinges, adding to the untidy image. If this place can get the cosmetic side of things sorted out, it would be perfect.

We visited Barn Indian at weekend for the 1st time as it was recommended by colleagues from work, and we weren't disappointed. The staff were very polite and the service was faultless. We had popadoms to start with and the chutney tray was fresh and tasty. The curry was delicious, there was so much flavour in it and the nann bread was light and fluffy. We will definitely go back again.

I visited Barn India recently, partly as a result of a 15% off voucher in Junction 15 magazine, which we get in certain parts of Newcastle. The voucher says clearly 'Not valid on Saturdays', and the full-page advert says 'Why not try our Banquet evening, Wednesdays'. We had a good meal, but when the bill came, there was an embarrasing exchange with the waiter, James, who said that the voucher wasn't valid on Banquet nights. I maintained strongly that the voucher does NOT say 'not valid on Saturdays or Wednesdays', and James eventually changed my bill. I suggested that the next advert in the Junction 15 magazine should say 'not valid on Saturdays and Wednesdays'. I am annoyed that the advert has come out again, without this change having been made. Please change the advert, I visited with a special freind from out of the area, and it was an embarrasing episode. The food was good, but the drinks were far too expensive.

Been dining at Barn India for several years ! Always been exceptional food & service ! But tonight was terrible ! From being shown to table , we were asked what we wanted to drink & do we want popadoms before we had even taken our coats off or sat down ! Our main meals were probably the worst curry's we've ever had , texture , taste & cold ! Won't go on any more , just mention that the restaurant was the busiest I've ever seen it ! But I do not think that this should be any excuse ! I feel sad having to write this review ! I have also never seen the manager / staff so stressed & irritable ! Sad to say "not my problem though "

On our second visit we found Barn India in our opinion had improved even more. The car park is now well lit as previously this was really bad due to no lighting at all. Inside was nice and warm, another improvement. There is a comprehensive menu and the food is good and well presented. One extra point is that they do a choice of 10 x 2 dishes where you can choose 2 meals half size which allows you to taste alternate curries. Very well spoken polite staff.

My review is especially based on our waiter James. He was very accommodating and made us feel right at home. And the food just topped it off.. It was lovely. To be fair the person who bought out the food wasn't quite as nice as James. Will definitely be visiting again.

We decided to try this fairly local Indian Restaurant and afterwards wished we hadn't. The meal we had was by far.......the WORST Indian food we have ever had! I find it hard to believe that this meal was prepared by a qualified chef - it was prepared without effort or flavour. Nothing more than a few bits of meat drenched in a very artificial looking and tasting sauce. The naan bread was doughey and very black on the back...and the Keema naan was anything but that. The salad was onion - nothing more. We would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not be going there again.

We love indian food and usually go to the one in Eccleshall every week, but it hasn't been as good of late. We have known about Barn India but have never been and have also had mixed reviews about it, some saying its dreadful and other saying its lovely, the only way to find out is to try for yourself. The setting is lovely, an old barn set in lovely grounds, so you can have a nice drink outside, on entering the Barn, we were greeted by a member of staff who showed us to our seats. The interior is immaculate and the seeting was comfortable etc. We did have a few doubts about a certain member of staff, he seemed unable to smile and was a little abrupt, but it just made us laugh, we had a lovely meal, starters and mains and it was perfect, very tasty and well presented. When the waiter brought our bill over he actually had a huge smile which again made us laugh, all in all a lovely meal and we will be going back.

We have visited Barn India on many occasions, tonight a special occasion. As always, a fantastic greeting, fabulous ice cold Cobras for the gents and great wine for us ladies. No pressure to immediately order food. Delicious starters, hot and freshly cooked. Great wine list followed by four impeccable main meals.Topped off with a very reasonable bill! Well done and many thanks.....Tonight the restaurant was very busy but this did not impede the impeccable service and attention to detail always received.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The waiter chose a drink for one of our party and not what was ordered! when Our food did arrive we were rushed to eat it. The curry was bland and tasteless! The waiter cleared the table on between courses when we had not finished eating and cleared the dishes and food!

Went on a Sunday night while visiting my brother ! There was a 50th birthday party in we were shoved in a corner with a table of about 15 under 14,s. We did think about leaving but decide to stay because it was getting late! The kids were very loud and my husband had to speak to one of them who kept banging my chair and getting up and down from his chair! I think the staff should of spoke to them there were no other tables to move to. We ordered wine then had to ask for it , waiter forgot then got the wrong one! Food was very good! Waiter obviously having a bad night even to the point were he chucked the starter at my husband we did laugh at the poor service most of the evening including the point were he chucked the dessert menu at us , which we declined! I would go back but not on a night when there is a party! If it was just for the service I wouldn't return.

I've been here several times and it's always been excellent but last nights visit was shocking. We arrived bang on 8:30 for our reserved table. Starters arrived at 9:30 and the main course 10:15. Two of the main courses out of 4 were wrong but we couldn't afford to wait any longer for the right ones to be cooked. This used to be a great restaurant. They need to sharpen up their act to get back to the top.

We have been eating here mostly twice a month since it opened mostly on weds and Sundays as these are the value days. Fab for food and price just not if you trying to loose weight!!! Staff are very friendly and welcoming and can't do enough for you especially if you are a regular! They know my voice when I ring to book without having to say my name!Wednesday is buffet night so you can have unlimited food at a set price but instead of having to get up and collect all the food comes to you. You do not feel as though you are in a buffet meal it's very much a restaurant feel.Great quality food and always fresh and hot cannot recommend enough! Hence why I'm never going to loose any weight and they know my voice!!!

We would like to think that we are curry connoisseurs 😜. Been to a lot of different restaurants. We moored up near the harecastle tunnel and decided to pop into kidsgrove for a curry. We were recommended Arena by a customer that was standing outside. We took a chance and it was a good decision. Karen was brilliant and the food was fantastic. The lamb was so tender, fresh cauliflower in the bhaji and the channawalla was so tasty. Would thoroughly recommend. Unfortunately we were early and the restaurant was empty so I can’t give a great review on the atmosphere.

Honestly the delivery man was the best part and im sure staff are lovely. Forgot my redbull, offered one next time which was kind but wont be ordering there again. Ordered a burger and chips, genuinely cant explain more to you how horribly dry and rubbery the burger was, chips were cold and stodgy. Not just that, ordered a donut and was met with what tasted like a hard sponge soaked in sugar. Have never had a takeaway as expensive but horrible as that, seems like they make the food at the start of the week and use that🤢
