Had been looking forward to visiting here for a while but was left disappointed. Unfortunately they dont seem to be well adverse with alligies. After informing them of an alligie within our party it's seemed that panic struck and we were told they couldn't guarantee that the food was suitable as the kitchen had various things made in it. We left hungry and disappointed

Have eaten here several times and always been great but today not so good. Had vegetable Lasagne the salad was under it Coleslaw was large tough chunks and the garlic bread was brown bread and no taste of garlic. My friend asked for a second drink never turned up so had to ask again. Salad was not its usual fresh quality. Bit of a shame as it makes you reluctant to return again

My family went into the farm restaurant for lunch ( food is always amazing )followed but a trip to see the maze . Although we didn’t go into the maze ( granddaughter is only three) we stayed the rest of the afternoon. And still only managed a third of what was on offer . ( so much there for children ) Lucky we live in chard so bought a family session ticket . This place will definitely be seeing lots of us this summer . And to mention the staff they are always lovely in the shop and really took time with my granddaughter chatting to them . Fantastic all round day out . Thank you barleymos .lynne and family

Visited for the much advertised maize maze. After paying £30 for a family ticket we were informed that the maize growth had been slow this year. It certainly had and children of 7 and 9 could easily see over the top of it. The path was hardly maze-like and mostly was just a simple path through the field. There were question boards to answer on the way round but we had not been offered answer sheets. Overall, it was pathetic and should not have been opened so early in the season. We would have given it 1 star but the other children's play equipment on offer dragged it up to 2 stars.

We bought a homemade large quiche lorraine last Saturday from the farm shop but we were very disappointed when we came to eat it, as the pastry base was slightly undercooked and the pastry was too thick and dense and it tasted rather bland. The filling was also bland, needed more salt and pepper consider that we paid over £7 we were expecting a much tastier quiche.

Service is very slow & staff clearly spent more time with, & took much more notice of the work people who were ordering breakfast. If you are on your own, you are ignored. This is my 3rd experience of poor service here which lets down an otherwise lovely place.

Second time and sadly never again, now firstly i never have a issue with waiting if a place is busy , but there seemed to be only one person taking orders , a lady with a blonde bob . After chatting with a table for 5 or so mins then when she eventually finish walked past us and said ill be with you in a min , then we waited again then the insulting part went to two big tables who came in and sat down well after us . So we walked out drove to crewkerne parked up walked to billbys sat down and got served in pretty the same time we waited at the above and not served . I retold our experience to the lady that brought our food at billbys , she laughed and said they obviously dont want the business ! Exactly!!

Read some negative reviews and understand the comments and frustration. I have been twice for Sunday lunch in October. Plenty of veg. and a very good selection for four people. Good sized portions. Good gravy. Excellent crackling if you're among the first, early diners and request it. Could have been hotter but as folks have commented, the staff are few and do the best they can. I'm very happy with the place because it's a nice airy environment and apart from one waitress - 'don't touch the cakes' - who I thought was slightly bonkers when I realised that she wasn't joking, the staff are lovely. They haven't come from Michelin restaurants and this is Somerset ..... and a farm. Sunday lunch, remembering that you are in a Farm Shop cafe and not a restaurant and if you are with friends or family and have things to talk about, the/a wait is worth it every time. But then, I'm retired having been served by my own chefs for fifteen years so it's a pleasant change. Now to breakfast. We waited. We were with friends, relatives and we had things to catch up on so by the time our breakfast arrived we were hungrier and full of good tea, ready to tuck in. Excellent. Everything on our plates - four big breakfasts - was so flavourful and obviously just (freshly) cooked. That's one reason for the wait and for us it's worth it. Life is slower and so much more enjoyable for it. As Arnold said, "I'll be back." NB can't comment on lunches in the week as we only do Sunday lunches and breakfasts.

I was very disappointed, I called in the morning and booked a table as my Nan is disabled and wanted to make sure there was a table available, when I got there a very rude lady said I hadn’t booked a table and got quite funny and I showed her I called that morning, I don’t know of her name but other customers were saying how rude and sharp she was being not only to customers but one particular staff member, I actually went over to check that she was ok and I could see she was upset. The food was ok, the lamb was very undercooked and tender and not enough veg for three people, I wouldn’t recommend to other people it was manic and felt like a stressful experience.

I went in for Sunday lunch. The place was packed; there were families with small kids, pensioners, couples, single people. There was a choice of meats for Sunday lunch - beef, lamb and pork - all locally produced. I had the beef. There was plenty of meat, which was tender and lean, and it came with a huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, a bowl of various vegetables, and gravy. It was almost too much for one person but I managed to polish it off and was too full to have any pudding afterwards, even though I saw some very nice ice creams and trifle being served. I sat indoors, but there were also people eating outside at picnic tables and enjoying the sunshine. Service was very good - all the waiting staff were working very hard to fulfill orders, and I didn't have to wait long at all to get my pot of tea, then my lunch, which together cost only £15. After lunch, I bought some things in their farm shop, which is very well stocked with lots of lovely environmentally-friendly and welfare-produced goods. The Barleymow is the best place I've been to for lunch in a while, and is great for families, having a maize maze at the moment, and various other farmyard-type attractions for kids to enjoy. If I had to criticize, it would be that the car park was struggling to cope with the number of cars arriving.

Great traditional farm shop in the area of Chard with bakery and butchers as well as fresh produce and locally handmade products, can definitely get essential here for cooking if you are staying locally. We brought some cake and savoury items from the chilled section and they were delicious. Other reviews stated it was dog friendly, however when we arrived with our dog there was a sign saying assistance dogs only, so she wasn’t allowed in, which was a shame but we just took it in turns to have a browse. We walked up here from Combe St Nicholas one morning and sat in the garden for a cooked breakfast. At first a bit disappointed with the overcooked eggs but the lovely waitress brought us more, which was a lovely touch. The garden is large and very nice albeit next to the main road. I didn't think the sausages were all that special, but the black pudding was very good. The shop next door is very big and has lots of local produce. Cider in pouches.

Went today and sat outside, staff very organised and tables a good distance apart. Breakfast was great, fresh and tasty - lovely toast. Hot coffees. The shop was well stocked and it wasn't hard to fill the trolley with lots of our favourite treats.

The menu has been the same for years, which is ok if they change the specials but even the specials are the same.

I visited Barleymows with my two year old son, his auntie and two cousins, we had a brilliant time and would highly recommend it. We paid for a family of 4 (my son being under 3 was free), which was £18, a bargain for a day out. There was plenty of different activities for them to enjoy including a straw mountain, ball games, zip wire, sand pits, trampolines, slides, meeting the animals and their favourite the barrel train ride. I think it is a well though out idea and great to get the kids enjoying the outside. We will definitely be returning next summer.

Having taken a wrong turning we found ourselves near Chard and in need of breakfast. We quickly found the barley mow and loved what we saw. Nice farm shop and restaurant. J had the poached eggs and I went for the large breakfast. The breakfast was superb and nice and hot. I was stuffed and that's saying something for me.

You enter through the farm shop which is so tempting. The restaurant is very pleasant with a range of set meals and specials. The price is so reasonable.

My husband and I visit on a regular basis and would just like to say what a very welcoming pleasant and friendly member of staff (Lisa) is. She always makes a point of speaking to everyone to makes everyone feel individual and that there needs are met.

You will have to travel a fair few miles to find a farm shop as good as this. It’s an absolute delight from every aspect. Meat is sourced locally and is of the highest standard and there is a great selection of pies, cold meats, cheeses, vegetables all wonderfully fresh and beautifully presented. There’s also a good selection of frozen veg, ready to cook meals, fruit, pies etc in their freezer department, you’re totally spoilt for choice.

We have stopped here twice now for breakfast, and the food has been consistently good, I would definitely recommend the crumpets with bacon and cheese but the full English is equally as good. Good portion sizes too. It does get very busy so get there early, My only gripe would be the cups and cutlery could do with being checked as the dishwasher obviously misses bits! The shop is lovely to look round and great for presents although a bit on the expensive side.

We stopped here for our lunch on the way back from Devon. What a gem of a place. For £16 we had a steak pie and shepherds pie. Both were home cooked and served with simple vegetables and it was delicious! The farm shop is also fantastic and we had more time we would have had a good luck round and no doubt spent a fortune! Definitely worth a visit if you like traditional home cooked food. We would even plan our next trip to Devon around stopping there!

The shop itself is ok but like many farm shops, overpriced..I however would like to concentrate on the so called restaurant. My wife came here with my daughter and her elderly mother and waited for over twenty five minutes, after ordering ,before asking a waitress where their order was.The waitress returned after a few minutes, to announce that the order had been thrown away in the bin and she couldn't be bothered to get it out...We left,...and will never return .

A great place to stop for coffee, lunch, or tea which rightly seems very popular with the locals. We enjoyed lots of tea and cake after a walk up Herne Hill (recommended) and my OH particularly enjoyed a Manhattan cake which was all chocolate mousse and orange. Great, friendly service as well.

Fantastic night for dinner, we always struggle taking our child out for dinner but we felt such at ease. We were greeted with friendliness, served fast for our drinks and told to choose a table! Food was delivered fast, hot and delicious! Lots of parking space, my son was given colours and colouring paper which kept him happy. We booked in for the Christmas breakfast with Santa and can’t wait 😍

My wife and I stayed for 2 night, expecting evening meals and breakfast as we were visiting Wells and Bath and Yeovil . I think it was a lovely pub at one time but not now. It did no food closed most nights , we visited other pubs for our meals very disappointing stay and would not recommend anyone to stay I think it will possibly close down very shortly.
