This is my favourite place to go, for coffee, lunch and now the fantastic Cocktail evenings. This family work so hard to make this business successful and the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and welcoming. As a single lady I know I can come to Barleycorn in the daytime and evening and they will make me feel so welcome. I took part in a Prosecco and painting evening last Friday, it was a delight and enjoyed by everyone. Cant wait for the next one. Please support this business and enjoy the delights that Barleycorn Café offers, you will not be disappointed. P S very dog friendly and my dog Freddie enjoys the dog ice creams a little too much!

An evening booking for a night of cocktails and fine music. Very reasonable prices for the intimate and wonderful ambiance provided. The Barleycorn provides what Mildenhall has been crying out for.

I can’t rate this little gem highly enough! Local produce and the best homemade scones with different and experimental flavours each week. The coffee is excellent and the service is top notch. Everything is homemade, baked freshly that morning. Highly recommend the quiches! This is a gem in the community and the staff give you a warm welcome. This is a lovely cafe by day and at night it transforms into a cocktail lounge. The cocktails are all fresh, mixed and served beautifully and are reasonably priced. Upstairs they have a function room that can be booked for larger gatherings, birthday parties, baby showers and afternoon teas. In the summer the enclosed garden is wonderful, it’s a perfect little sun trap.

Booked their room upstairs for a baby shower. From start to finish the customer service was amazing. The room was made up beautifully and the staff were attentive on the day. The food was 😍 and so much of it we took home doggy bags. I will definitely be booking with them again

Stopped off as heard good things it's quite quaint a wee bit small. But was very disappointed to find out they don't make any of the baked goods or cakes themselves and apart from some sandwhiches they put together everything is just bought in from other places. A nice little place like this should be baking their own bread and cakes! Such a shame! Especially as they go on at great lengths about how it's "homemade" but I guess they mean someone else's home? Shame

Lovely space being used well. The homemade cakes make the journey worth while, always fresh and delicious. Locally sourced produce which is always a bonus. Such a friendly place no matter what age you are. I cant wait to try their afternoon tea, have seen it go by on previous visits and looks so inviting. The prices are spot on. A real gem in the town.

We visited for a 6.30pm roast dinner slot on 12th August. Choice of beef or pork. Locally sourced so can be different according to supply. Amazing crackling with the scrummy pork, the beef was tender and tasty. Too many Yorkshire puddings, mountains of vegetables and crisp hot roast potatoes. Endless gravy and sauces. We took our wine as Shelby doesn't have a licence yet. Strawberrys 🍓 🍓 and cream was fresh and rounded off a lovely meal. We sat in the private courtyard. Allowing for social distancing. A lovely evening. Thoroughly recommended.

Not only do these ladies provide the most exceptional food they go above and beyond with their service. They provided a bespoke buffet for our Christmas party and it was so much more than I imagined. Their enthusiasm and passion for their job shines through in every aspect of what they do. Highly recommended.

If in Mildenhall a visit to Barleycorn is a must! All food is home-cooked and there are new dishes to savour almost every day. The staff are fabulous - nothing is ever too much trouble - and the ambience in this lovely little place is absolutely cracking! Meet Up Mondays is a popular event and tea and biscuits is free! Sit around the table and enjoy chatting - it beats a lonely cuppa at home any day.

What lovely local place to relax and eat. The staff are always very welcoming, with fresh breads, a great deli selection and lovely loose leaf teas. Great to go out in the courtyard on a sunny day, set in Mildenhall’s historic market place

When you're a stranger in town and you go back to a place for the second time in 2 days and you're greeted with 'ooh, hello again!' you can be sure you're onto a winner. Lovely coffee and, on the second day, a fabulous Suffolk pasty. Delish heated with a bit o' pickle on the side. This is an independent local that is working really hard to provide a simple yet delicious menu with quality products - as well as offering tip top friendliness. Apparently there is yoga upstairs - and talk of other kinds of events. Bring it on. Why venture to bloomin' Costa when you can go somewhere unique like this?

Visited with friends with high hopes after reading such good reviews. I left feeling I was in a different universe to the other reviewers I've seen! The cafe is very small. It does have an upstairs but this is a dark grim looking room without a breath of character or atmosphere. The garden is pleasant on a nice day.To start the cafe promotes itself heavily on its vegan menu. What vegan menu? I was offered home made hummus salad wrap, probably the most boring thing you could think of and which looked like it had a crust on top as so dried up. There was not even any vegan cheese. There was a couple of bought in vegan cakes. Nothing appetizing or new for vegans at all.One of our party had a nut allergy. There is a sign up saying to ask staff, but on doing so it was obvious they had no clue and no packaging could be found in order to check. The cakes are displayed uncovered along the top of the chiller for everyone to cough over and flies to land on. Same with the bread in the window. Nothing is covered in the chiller cabinet either which meant coleslaw etc had unappetizing dried crust on top.I personally couldn't fancy anything to eat and as vegan options really aren't a thing as advertised, along with no reliable allergy info we went elsewhere. On leaving we noticed several flies around all the uncovered food. Just eww.......The manager seems to think you can blag your way out of every situation. Fudging around lack of choices for example. Crusty hummus and 2 cake choices for vegans does NOT mean you cater for everyone. But most shockingly I felt was her let's guess and hope attitude to allergies. VERY dangerous! If you want a good choice of food, served by knowledgeable staff, in a hygienic environment then this is not the place for you!!

Nice welcoming into this nice small establishment. We sat in the enclosed garden at the rear very welcoming. Service friendly and efficient good loose tea served. Both had a toasted tea cake very good but was slightly over cooked making it crusty these bits got stuck in the throat causing a coughing fit. May try one of the other nice looking cakes next time. Will return.

Stopped in for a quick lunch a few weeks ago and was so happy that I did! This small cafe is such a treat with the homemade goodies and delicious lunch options. The bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, the ham portion was large and the mature cheddar was outstanding.

I was recommended to visit the Barleycorn by colleagues when they realised that I liked little cafés with a good selection of vegetarian food. It was an excellent suggestion and I shall be returning for lunch tomorrow. The soup was good, hot and vegan and there were plenty of other options too. The coffee was good, there are loose-leaf teas and the cakes were hard to resist

No puedo esperar a volver.

I've had a hard time finding a soup/sandwich place close to where I live. That may be because I've yet to strike gold or because I keep comparing other shops to Barleycorn. Barleycorn is a smallish shop, with downstairs/upstairs/garden seating. The staff are always friendly and smiling. They make their sandwiches fresh and if you come earlier, you may be able to get their delicious pea/ham soup on the side! Its quiet a bit cheaper to take out than to eat in. Delicious menu!

The Barleycorn is a nice little deli/cafe off of Mildenhall's market. It has a deli counter with selections such as smoked salmon, tuna mayo, and assorted hams and cooked meats. The bread and rolls are fresh and nicely presented, and there are loads of extras in the Barleycorn as well. There is a cafe garden, some indoor seating in a country style, and a nice shop selling local preserves, artisan cheeses and gourmet sauces. My most recent visit was pleasant, and the bap with tuna was generously filled, and the service really pleasant. The shop is worth a visit if for nothing else to browse the pickles, jams and preserves.

Proper old school ‘caff’ - friendly staff and well-cooked food. Asked for a small sausage, chips and beans for my son (not on the menu) which wasn’t a problem, they even cut the sausage up for him, my younger son had beans on toast and they cut the toast into fingers for him without me asking. Small details but that extra effort didn’t go unnoticed. My fry-up was spot on. Look forward to going back!
