The New Wellington in Forest Heath

We had prebooked. Restaurant much busier than last time we visited. We had one starter of mushrooms followed by a pie and scampi. All the food was delicious and good value for money. Good menu, great food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Nicole was very efficient. Highly recommended.

Food truck (Thai) was pretty good! The Hogsback ale was even better! Great atmosphere and watching the Premier League wasn’t bad either!

Excellent place to eat. We ate at lunch time, food and service was excellent and nice and quiet.

Lovely homemade food, we’ve eaten here several times and never been disappointed. Steak is a strong favourite, along with the veggie lasagne, soups and The cheesecake is to die for! Kind and friendly landlady and staff, very helpful and willing to go the extra mile. We will definitely be back and would recommend this pub to anyone 😁

Went for a work Christmas Dinner. The dining room was very nicely decorated, with historical photographs of Newmarket. The food was excellent with a nice selection to choose from.

Went for yet another fantastic meal, it was Sunday Lunch for the both of us. A day off from cooking for my wife. Everything was great I had the lamb and Sue had beef plus starters. All beautifully cooked and very generous portions. Service and staff very friendly. Their weekday menu is varied and excellent.

We had not been to the Wellington for a while. What you wont get is an expensive gastro meal, but what you do get is a a very good home made and competitively priced Sunday Roast, can recommend the Roast Beef, Pork and Vegetarian option. Don't miss out on the home made puds. Dog friendly in the bar but not restaurant

Very good service, really lovely food

We booked for a Saturday evening following the Horseracing. The pub was very busy but the restaurant itself was very quiet. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The menu was very good. Such a nice dilemma when you don’t know what to choose. In the end we had a steak pie and a chicken breast with ham and mushroom sauce which was delicious. Very tasty, well presented food. The beer and the wine was good too. We will be back. Highly recommended when in the area.

The pub with a children's play area is a fantastic spot for families. The play area is well-maintained and offers a variety of activities to keep kids entertained. The pub itself has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff. A perfect place for family outings!

Stopped by for drinks after racing. A friendly welcome and great service in a fun atmosphere. Certain to return soon.

Nice pub, good vibe. Lovely pool table with enough space around the table to play properly, I find that rare in pubs. Good sized tv playing sports and a friendly environment. good selection of beers on tap.

The Welly is my favourite pub. I used to live very close to it many years ago. It was my local then. Current hosts are fabulous, and great people use it. Proper pub.

We stayed in the area for one night and decided to have dinner at the New Wellington. There was a sign outside that said "Best steak n chips in town!" With a statement like that, we had to try it....and I'm so glad we did! There was a temporary limited menu, but there was still more than enough choice on there. Service was excellent, food was all piping hot, portions were very good and it all tasted incredible! We were so happy that we gave this place a try....homemade chocolate truffle cheesecake was absolutely delicious!! Thank you for a great meal...two very happy customers! 😊

Booked Sunday lunch for 26 Hungry Newmarket Joggers. Had to pre-book. The Staff and food were excellent, delicious. We will return.

Visited 31/07 and thoroughly enjoyed our meals, big portions and were tasty. Georgina was lovely and already planning on returning, p.s the homemade desserts are so good!

From the outside this pub looks nothing special but once in the restaurant its very different. Excellent choices on the menu , decor clean and inviting. Staff were lovely- attentive but not over the top. we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the crunchie cheesecake was sublime . Will definitely visit again

Loved it! The food here is delicious, the staff are friendly and the interior is welcoming. The prices are very good as well: for £20, you could have a 3 course meal and a drink (I had a glass of coca cola). The portions were ok - by the time I had the starters and main, I had no space for the dessert☺️. There's ample seating inside and outside but it's best to make a reservation before turning up. I invite you to check out this place. I'll visit again.

After a long drive back from Frome we called in to see the daughter on the way home.......She took us to the Wellington for a drink.....We was starving hungry and was just gong to grab a Macky D after a drink so glad we didn't...... FANTASTIC tasty food all 3 of us had the stake deal sirloin or rib eye with all the trimmings and a pud for £18 and there's plenty of it real GOOD portions All cooked to perfection just how I and my daughter like it well well cooked and my partners rare ...Real nice chips and onion rings and tasty as peppercorn sauce and lots of it .......Partner had Stilton sauce which she loved The 3 puds also fantastic where M&M cheesecake, Eaton mess and I had the banana split ...YUMMY AS Nice out side seating area and the staff where fantastic , extremely busy....rushed off there feet working real hard BUT it was still service with a smile on there face, polite and real helpful nothing was to much trouble..... GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD we will 100% be back when we visit the daughter again .

really enjoyed the food had fish and chips and the salmon both meals were well portioned, well presented and judging from other places within re-opening of the hospitality industry this pub came above all we have been to so far, especially the service, which was why we tipped the waitress which we hope it went to her.

Came here to say om nom nom nom. Ordered two meals (Lasagne and Curry) for delivery which arrived hot and with a cheery smile. Tasted gorgeous too!

Xmas dinner was okay, some stuff was lovely and other stuff not so much. The veg to the family seemed underdone but personally I found it fine but for £55 a head we expected a tiny bit more festive. Nice touches to tables and the food was nice... starters were the best.

Great pub, very nice helpful staff. Food is delicious. Extremely well policed Covid regulations. Everything always clean and disinfected. Bathrooms sparkling clean. All tables always sprayed and cleaned after every customer. All regulations followed to the last detail. Feel very safe and comfortable. Absolutely recommend.

new rules mean things are a bit different but the wellie is as reliable as ever. common sense and innovating ways of keeping the customers safe but well fed and watered (not much water!)

we turn up with no booking and was welcomed with a friendly smile. we chose our seat and the new Covid rules explaind. ordering and servise was excellent, our food came hot and planty of it very good quality, we will be back

Went there last night to take advantage of the government discount scheme seems like it’s the only place that’s not taking part we didn’t find this out until the bill came . Food was also rank . Prawns were like something out of Iceland I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

We had dinner at The New Wellington last night. Very highly recommend! We were greeted by Georgina with a very warm welcome. The measures that they have gone to , to make everything COVID safe were impressive. The meal was excellent! Very generous portions, freshly cooked and very well presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely return. Thank you very much Georgina and compliments to your Dad the chef too! Xx

Very well set out for these covid times and staff very aware asking permission if it was ok to serve and clear the table.Staff very polite and there went you wanted something but not hovering next to you. Food good quality pub grub, large portions with taste, with a nice beer to match.Will go again another day.

Just had burgers and chips delivered from the New Wellington yet another great meal from Georgina and Nigel love the Quad Bike Nigel delivered the meals on great excitement up the street when the Quad roared up made my day. Keep up the good work Roger and Susan Stacey.

Great pub food served in a separate restaurant. They made us feel welcome , wide selection of food on the menu and fresh vegatables. Definitely worth checking out.

It's a nice small pub with a good bear and a good menu the food was well done and the price was very reasonable. The staff were present and the atmosphere was good.

I hadn't been in this place for something like 20 years, but went for sunday lunch and was impressed. Selection of 4 meats, I had lamb which was nicely cooked, and came with great gravy. However for me the vegetables are what I always judge a place by and those I had passed with flying colours. It is rare to have such perfectly cooked veg which arrive at the table steaming, evidence as to how fresh they were. I am more than happy to eat this meal here again, and the price was sensible and gave great value for money. Not haut cuisine, that isn't what I expected or wanted, but it is good food, plenty of it and really well cooked and presented, what's not to like!

We all ordered different meals and all of them were first class. The food was served on piping hot plates by friendly staff. I have a gluten free diet which was no problem to them and which they completely understood.

Good food and drink and people will Go again when weather is good for bikes

I visit Newmarket 3 or 4 times a year and this is my preferred place for dinner. It's a great local pub with good beers, typical pub entertainment and a quiet restaurant room serving great pub food. No fuss, no bother, quick service and a perfectly decent selection of dishes. Desserts definitely worth checking out.

This was a real find. Lovely staff, extensive menu - enough for 3 or 4 visits, well cooked food on hot plates. Staters, mains and desserts were faultless between all 4 of us. £25 a head including drink. What’s not to like? Highly recommended.

Decent pub with good food. It's missing a premium lager on tap (San Miguel doesn't count) but bottled Peroni does instead. Pleasant staff and sociable local customers. Nothing to complain about here.

I eat at the new wellington regulary and the food lives up to its high standards everytime and has never failed to disappoint! Lovely family run pub/restaurant. Highly recommend.

High expectations of the Wellington, but really let down with the Sunday Roast. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire were certainly out of the freezer, not sure about the beef. Really looking forward to the roast after reading the reviews, but it was not to be. Waitresses very good but they could not make up for our disappointment.

Having seen all the fab reviews I was really excited to try the food here. My boyfriend and I went along on a Sunday and I had a roast and he had the duck. Service was fine and the food was out super quick - however it was one of the worst meals we’ve had out in ages! The roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were not homemade, more like frozen and reheated. The roast potatoes were not crispy on the outside nor fluffy in the middle. The duck was incredibly dry and unsatisfactory and my nut roast was worse than the frozen Tesco’s version. I suspect none of this food was made fresh or onsite. My boyfriend said he’s had better food in wetherspoons for half the price. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

Visited Newmarket to stay with family. Enjoyed the Saturday Night Steak deal at £16.95 for Steak and dessert. Steak was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. It melted in my mouth.

A quaint pub split into two main rooms, one bar, one restaurant. Exceptional management and staff. Fast and friendly. Bar area has both darts and a pool table and holds regular events and gigs from local bands. The garden area has benches and a climbing frame, swings, etc for kids. Loads of outside seating for beers in the sun! Highly recommended! A*

First time here looking for somewhere different we thought we Would give it a try considering the generally good reviews. Came via the bar which looks a good place for a drink.

We went midweek. The restaurant had two other tables in, not a lot of atmosphere, but it was quiet.

A good landlord and food to match. Nice choice all served with crunchy hot vegetables. Tip top.

I run a bar in Tenerife and fly over to meet up with my family in the Newmarket area twice a year.

There are many attractions to visit whilst in London and the Tower Bridge is among one of the best sights to see. The history behind its construction and the things that have happened on it and around it is fascinating. No matter where you stand, you are guaranteed to get a great picture but to capture the whole bridge then you'll be wise to stand on London Bridge, just down the river. The lift times of the bridge are available on their website so you can plan your day around one of the lifts, which, if you've ever seen it, is amazing to watch. The Tower Bridge experience gives you all the history of the Bridge plus access to the walkways above. Fun fact:- The Bridge is insured as a ship. Or so I'm led to believe.

A lovely local pub run by fantastic owners. just been recently renovated and looking amazing. They always have something going on, wether it be a band playing or Morris dancers outside. They offer a wide selection of drinks, and food is delicious.

Probably the best fish and chip meal I've ever had. The Wednesday night special is well worth visiting for,superb batter,large fish and great chips.Eat in or take away.
