Myself and my wife sat outside on a beautiful July day. We were a bit early for lunch but had a couple of beverages in the sun whilst waiting. The food turned out to be tasty and wholesome. The service was ok considering how busy they were. A nice spot for a pub lunch with a view across the Lough.

Stayed here for one night with a friend and six kids between us. Kids were delighted when crossing by ferry from strangford and this building was the first thing we spotted on the horizon as we neared Portaferry! Had a big room with double bunks and five single beds! Not a lot of floor space but cosy and clean, and good value for money. We had the bathroom next door to the the room all to ourselves with shower, toilet and sink, all spotlessly clean. For breakfast the next morning (which was included in the price) we were directed to the restaurant a short stroll away, also owned by the same man. We were able to chose any item from the breakfast along with juice, tea and coffee. It was a breakfast of champions and everyone was delighted with their choices from pancakes and bacon to full Irish fry, and a vegetarian fry was delicious also. The owner was exceptionally accommodating, pleasant and welcoming. Overall a first class experience and we will definitely be back!

Relaxing sitting on one of the numerous seashore summer seats sipping takeaway coffee. Interesting Viking wooden carving.

Third time at Barholm with Christopher and his lovely wife. Last minute changes meant a request to change our date, but booked out! 'No problem' said Christopher! He put us up instead in their new seafront premises just a few steps away. The former Narrows is a work in progress but with fantastic views from every room and meals served as normal in Barholm, so what? A huge comfortable bed, views to die for and a lovely two course dinner meal provided at Barholm and the usual breakfast feast next day, is more than enough for anyone. £70 for the lot for both of us! Dramatic sunset and short cruise to Strangford and back and you have a perfect short break. Lovely setting, lovely hosts and great food and BYO wine! We will be back...again!

We stayed here overnight. The place is great with a seperate lounge and pool room. Our room although tight as it slept 5 it was clean and comfortable. Our hosts were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious with nothing too much trouble! Plenty of choice. Would definitely stay here again. The picture is our view whilst eating breakfast!

Clean but basic budget accommodation. Really friendly and helpful staff - owner runs it and his wife does the food. Great breakfast

This place near short ferry connections is just suitable for short stops as well as the whole place if you wanna shorten your driving route and/or visit the most eastern part of whole island - Ireland. We traveled towards Ards Peninsula via Strangford, and take a brake at here.

Very tasty menu, service speedy and very friendly. As mentioned in title, situated ideally. To watch tooing and froing of the Strangford ferry, and across to Strangford, and the Lough, especially on sunny days, when there are outside tables.

It's got a fantastic setting but apart from the frys the food is of a basic standard and service is very slow. There is so much more can be done with the property. The don't do traybakes and only small cups of coffee which you've either drank or has gone cold by the time your food arrives.

En sortant du ferry qui fait la liaison entre Strangford et Portaferry, le restaurant se trouve juste en face. On s'y gare facilement. Ouf !!! Merci !!!

A large group of us had beakfast in this outstanding location. Fabulous. Food perfectly cooked, service excellent and views that would raise anyone's spirits. At the next table were residents who told us that Barholm is one of the best places to stay in Portaferry - rooms with sea views at a low cost. Add in the good food and what more could anyone want?

No much parking space. The menu is very limited to burger/chips/open prawn salad/pasta. I had hoped for more from this cafe but the menu was very basic . the food was just ok. the pasta bolognase had quite a large portion which was good. the prawn salad was quite basic with one thin slice of wheaten bread, although was quite tasty. I think I will try somewhere else next time. price was midrange/cheap about £6.45 for a salad lunch.

Limited range of food but reasonably priced. Lovely view out over Portaferry harbour and the kids can watch the ferry coming and going. The chips are great. They also do a mean 11 piece breakfast.

Not a great choice of meals or even to go with a coffee. Very slow service. However apart from the Portaferry Hotel there's nowhere else to look out over the Lough while having a coffee.

WOW, this place is fab. Krzysztof (Christopher), the owner is extremely pleasant man and I think it may be his brother who waits the tables - also a very helpful man. The accommodation was perfect for our family of 5 (1 double, 1 single and bunk beds). The room was spotless and lovely and warm. The breakfast was to die for - extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. They had the TV and colouring books etc for the kids. They also offered any amount of juice and tea and toast etc. If visiting Strangford or Portaferry I would highly recommend getting the ferry to Portaferry and staying here. We will definitely return - such hospitable people! Go Christopher and staff!! 5 star place to stay!!

I've had coffee here several times and it's always been good. Had breakfast here today, a traditional fry which was well cooked and very good value. Everything was freshly cooked and hot. The views are fantastic and the service was fine. Nice, casual dining and definitely worth a visit. Happy to return anytime. Just what Portaferry needs!

Lovely spot which we stumbled upon while out on a walk - made even better with the fact it was dog friendly. Will definitely be back soon.

The food was unbelievable! Not only amazing quality but definitely well priced. You couldn't fault the service if you tried. The show cooking was class, the chef was excellent and the laughs we got from the interactions simply made the night. Would highly recommend to all and will definitely be back again and again. Highly underrated venue in Newtownards.

The Wildfowler has been closed well over a year! The owner should update or remove the restaurant from online pages. Very sad. I remember this was a great place even when I was young. It would be amazing to see it re-open, the fact that it was dog friendly added to the appeal. A terrible loss on the peninsula
