I had fish and chips and a white pudding. The batter on the fish was soft and floppy and the white pudding was not battered 😳. I have never had a white pudding from a chippy that wasn’t battered. Very poor Roland

Nice food and nicer staff! I got fish & chips here. They are cooked fresh and delicious. The portions are huge with a good price. I accidentally dropped my box of fish and chips in their shop. They were so nice, immediately cleaned it and gave me another box for free. Only can recommend this place.

Honestly the food was amazing tasted so good and very fresh, staff were fantastic went above and beyond when I asked for a little message to say happy birthday to my partners sister. Well picture attached. THANK YOU she was over the moon and so surprised.

The burger was fine. But the chips are pretty lame and the diet coke tastes bad as well. And the staff aren't too friendly either as the guy serving me gave me a weird look as i was making my order. I won't be coming back again.

Just had a delivery. The fish had a terrible taste which lingered in your mouth. Phoned to complain was told it was very fresh fish. And the taste could be cause they lay eggs just now. Heard it all now. Was no.offer of replacement. Go hungry then. But I'd get a free one next time. Won't be a next time

Was the best chip shop in the west back in the 1990's to about 2005 wavered abit from there where it was not as great up to 2019. I remember in 1990's their special fish suppers were epic, healthy huge fat haddock fresh pure whiter than white fillets with just right cooked breadcrumbs the generous size portion of quality chips that tasted like they were cut from baking potatoes 🥔 always looked forward to getting stuck in about the grub. Today's their special fish suppers are missing everything which made them special back in the day and now the bread crumbs are thin layered, hard and not appetising, crack and break apart like mad when you pick up the fish to eat, The haddock looked like it had been subjected to a serious assault had bruises over it and was as slim as some poor homeless dude, the chips were very average but all arrived warm and thankfully I had my own chippy brown sauce in the fridge because it arrived without a sauce tub. Never the less I ate the order am still alive and not feeling fine at my age I can say I look better than that haddock fillet they sent me so that's a plus but if your looking for a great chippy these days and you love quality food and can cook and have a few Bob in the bank please buy the Bar B Que and get us back to the good old days, cheers 🍻

I opted to try the ambiguous "box salad" after it was recommended to me by a friend as being the 7th best salad in the greater Edinburgh area. Now I wouldn't go as far as to label myself as a salad connoisseur or anything but one might say my love for the "green stuff" is akin to Donald Trump's love of Big Macs and the Soviet Union. My culinary mantra is “mangez vrai” (which translates to, “eat true”) and its obvious that Bar B Que Fish & Chips Takeaway share the same philosophy with their ability to elevate simple—even cheap— garden fresh ingredients into Michelin-star-worthy fare. With a mix of radicchio and cabbage leaves that might easily be mistaken as organic vegetables from the jardin du Baumanière himself, I was pleasantly surprised by the bold addition of both white AND red onions. Adorned with all manner of exciting diced root vegetables, this bright boxed salad dish is a true feast for the senses. I opted for a home-made vinegrette but don't hesitate to try the complimentary earthy brown sauce included on the side. Bon appetit !

Left standing for 5 minutes with no one else in the shop apart from a pre order for about 50 items. Didn’t have the common sense or decency to serve the one other customer waiting to order one item. Not worth the hassle going in here.

Dont visit Edinburgh west that much . Was hungry and facied a chippy at luch time . 1/2 pizza was tough prob been sat in the hot cabinet for some time.. .. chips were average. Coka cola was good. I'd prob not stop there again for lunch. Wasn't very appetising. Didn't finish it. Never the best chippy in Edinburgh IMHO.

It'll feed. Ordered fish and chips and a half pepperoni pizza. Neither were great, but it was food. The food seemed like it had been sitting in their window for a while. The staff were busy, polite, but maybe a bit impatient due to the rush. Seemed like you needed to be a regular for the experience to be comfortable. No dine in, just takeaway.

Food wasent the best lamd donner is one of the worst i ever had it. No teast cold and burn some of it. Chicken kebab was not as bad but over burn for me over half of meat. Fiah was good and chios wasent bad at all is well. Service really bad long wait first secend no one telling u anything and even when food was cook is was just waiting on side for another 5min as they was dealing with abothwr costumers and most of them get there food before us. They simply foeget about it no apology no extra nothing and then disipontment on meats really bad i wouldn't recommend it to anyone after mt experience but maybe i wasent lucky on that day. If u go just fish and chips is maybe easier and they actually was not bad at all.

I had a fush supper which was superb but asked for a pizza margarita I said I wanted it fresh made they gave me one from the hit counter and said it was just made but it was just warm and tough and rubbery so it had been lying in counter for a while the new staff are hopeless and don’t care what they give you been going there every Friday for years don’t think I will go back it’s going downhill fast

Food fine, but don't order for collection. It will do nothing other than cost you an extra 50p. Additionally be prepared for the staff to be rude. Ordering for collection at all other take aways I have used means you can expect to arrive at the stated time, collect your food and leave. At Bar B Que, when you arrive to collect, they expect you to join the back of the queue. In my case, when I arrived the first time, I saw 10 customers ahead of me in the queue. So I ordered online, delivered kids (and pets) home and came back at the stated time. I went to the place that looked like for collection (e.g. where the delivery drivers go). The staff actively ignored me. When I realised being polite was going to get me nowhere, I asked the cashier. She told me I should join the queue, which had grown from zero to 5 since I had arrived this second time. I explain that this didn't seem right. Their position was then reinforced by a second member of staff. I indicate a desire for a refund. A third member of staff steps in and is helpful. The manager (possibly owner gets involved). An "exception" is made and my food is hastily prepared. The staff as a whole treated me like my expectation to reduce my queuing time by ordering for collection (at additional cost) was completely unreasonable.

Ok so I went here, everything is battered, so being English they cooked me 3 sausage. They don't have gravy ! I had haggis, which was great, had red kola for the first time, overall a great chippy.

Don't know if they have changed hands or cook but fish supper was disgusting 🤢... Fish was mushy and grey in colour... I've used bbq for yrs but will be looking elsewhere after this... So sad 😔

Just had possibly the worst takeaway I’ve ever had. Ordered a mixed kebab, it was freshly cooked whilst I was waiting so I thought it would be good. The chicken and lamb were dry as a bone and the doner meat was dripping with grease... The two pitta breads were rock hard, the whole thing was totally inedible. I couldn’t even give it to my dogs. I live in West Lothian so wasn’t taking it back but at £14, I could have had a nice meal in a restaurant for that price. I won’t be returning.

I've ordered from here before, cracking chippie. Tonight though, order via their app, paid buy card, then get a call to say they can't deliver as I'm out-with their delivery area. I've ordered before and it's never been a problem. On top off that I get told it will take 3 working days for a refund, Christmas week, so that will be next week for a refund... Talk about a bad taste left in my mouth. I own a bar and never treat a customer like this. Absolutely terrible customer service!

Guaranteed to keep you up all night turning your guts inside out. Any of the old favourites will do it, a doner pizza, kebab meat and chips and even the old faithful large doner kebab!! If you're feeling a bit more adventurous and want give your stomach a good clear out while suffering severe cramps, why not go exotic with the kebab burger? Even a dozen pints prior to visiting can make this taste acceptable. With Xmas coming and families to think of please consider carefully before visiting.

Just bought two fish suppers im absolutely disgusted with hairs rapped almost around the fish so sickening im so so uoswt after 4 years i went vack as last time i was disappointed yet again never ever!!

Called up place order at 2204 sorry you can't you can only order what we have left. So why say open 2230. Went dalgety fish bar also open to 2230 they accepted order food there lovely

My last visit was 25 or so years ago(I know) It was excellent then as it was tonight . Piping hot ,not greasy and very tasty (Fish and King Rib suppers) and the delivery girl was was very pleasant 10/10 excellent.

Been in twice in the last week. Both time no one else in shop but still had to wait 5-10 minutes on all staff being involved in preparing telephone orders. I only wanted a bag of chips! I think that people actually coming into your shop should take priority on your telephone orders. lt just seemed unfair to keep people waiting that have actually made the effort to visit your shop. I will be back as your food is excellent but this customer service was not good.

Just Beautiful. The pizza was cooked fresh and l got to watch the chef spin the pizza dough. Yummmy and authentic.

We have used this chippy off and on for years no problem. Since using app to place orders we have had so much trouble. Tonight ordered and told delivery would be 20.10 that was fine. Actually arrived at 19.30!!! Driver handed over order and jumped in his car. Food hadn't been paid for. Order was wrong by time I got through to shop I had nearly finished my Food while hubby waited for correct order to be delivered. When it was driver asked for payment?? And was obviously waiting for tip which he most certainly did not get 🙄. Very disappointed 😒

The Bar B Que chipper was regular haunt when I was running about on my Fizzy sports moped in the late 70s. So imagine my horror when rocked up after spontaneous 168 mile drive from Castle Fraser , Aberdeenshire for a surprise visit to see my elderly parents - every mile focused on that chippy sauce that hasn't ventured as far north as Aberdeen - to park up and find they were locking up and the majority of the staff had jumped in their cars ready for home. I asked one of them where the next nearest chipper was and jokingly explained my disappointment after the drive. Turns out there was still a couple of staff in the shop and he opened up and made sure I was served. One very happy chappy!! So to every one at the Bar B Que thanks for going the extra mile. It brought back a lot of happy memories from my youth.

When placing an order and having to stand outside and wait on it being made up I suggest the customer name is taken during order process so that when the member of staff comes out with the order they can shout the name rather than what the order is. I placed my order and when the girl came out and shouted what the order was a guy who was further down the queue stepped forward at the same time as me and the order was given to him. I then had to wait and watch people that came after me collect their orders and go.

Absolute joke! Made to wait 25 minutes for a 'fast food' order which wasn't processed even though it had been paid for. Staff standing around chatting amongst each other. Asked for my money back and took my custom elsewhere. Will be going elsewhere from now on! Lucky I can't leave a no star review.

My experience with them is always great apart from tonight when they contacted me and said the driver had pressed the buzzer no answer by us and that we should have a missed call, well we had received no missed call and the flat buzzer was switched on and no flat buzzer went off. Phoned to put a complaint in as.the driver gave me attitude even though I had apologised but he still gave me attitude 😒 spoke to manager he was not much better sticking up for his staff will not be using them again. I am just glad it was.me that got the attitude and not some elderly person that lives her .

You're encouraged to order the food online. You have to wait in the queue despite turning up at the time requested. You then get your food - like everyone else - fresh from the servery, but you're told your order is 50p dearer 'Because you ordered online.' Of course the solution is - don't order online. Bit of a scam going on? Fish supper was alright.

Food turned up 20 mins late and wrong when I asked for the correct food I was told not to use there website again as it dose not work. The replacement food took over 45mins to arrive. Could have done with more chips (I suggest you order your chips separately as you will get more), food was very good.

Had to wait for curry sauce, they forgot my order. Standing waiting for 20 mins for no reason. It was OK when we got it, fish batter could be crispier if it wasn't left sitting.

The best pizza ever! I’m generally not a pizza fan and wouldn’t choose it on a menu, but every weekend, I take a few miles of a detour to get a 10” cheese pizza from the BBQ Chippie. They have light bases, a tomato sauce to die for, and a perfect amount of gooie cheese. Thank you BBQ xx

Really good take out. Excels in all areas, especially pizzas. Staff are friendly, and fast. Never have to wait long. Definitely recommend for a quick and easy night in.

Red hair found in food tonight 🤢 when trying to complain, no apology was given and apparently it matters what your address is and which order. NO! This is disgusting and it shouldn’t matter which order it is! It happened and it shouldn’t have! Food and safety will be hearing from me! Girl on the phone had a horrible attitude! Second time they have forgotten salt and sauce on the supper/chips, the donner meat in the kebab was dry and in tiny hard bits, pitta was stale, no sauces included in the donner meat and chips despite adding them in the special requests box and pizzas were greasy with rubber like cheese. Total waste of money.
