Bar 1875 in Purbeck

Great place for lunch or a stop off for a drink and cake... definitely recommend the Dirsrt Draught cider and the Dorset apple cake, warmed with ice cream

Part of the Purbeck Hotel and the decor is part of it's charm. The hotel staff are multi talented doubling up on the desk and bar as required. The whole atmosphere if of calm and comfort and a welcome change from the content noise of the TV and slot machines.

Friendly traditional Hotel bar. Prices were very good, much the same as the local pubs. Free nibbles provided at the bar and easy access as my father is a wheelchair user. Thoroughly enjoyed his 90th birthday

bar staff and bar recommended, interesting history to the place. Prices are quite high but to be fair they are in any hotel....Swanage can be quite pricey generally.

Comfortable surroundings for the residents of the hotel and also, I believe, open to the general public. Good selection of gins and whiskies, choice of ale somewhat limited. Rather pricey but no more so than many of the pubs down the road. A nice place to chill and relax after a hard day's sightseeing or whatever.

Front bar of the above hotel and very comfortable with pleasant staff. Wine list is average both in terms of availability and quality.

I called in to view the menu which was very limited and not much choice, so I did not eat there. I had a drink in the 1875 Bar. I would call it The Moon Bar, no atmosphere! The character of the hotel is old, but the furniture is fairly modern and the two do not mix.

Must be more interesting pubs in Swanage. Food came from the same kitchen as the restaurant, however it was not a great meal, even not good pub food. Service was inconsistent as the staff were covering the restaurant too.

Service was great, even though you may have to wait a few minutes for it as they do serve the restaurant at the same time. But that´s fair enough. But I was missing the choice of local beer and cider.

Attended as part of a team night out we had meaning to do for a while and decided to go on the extremely generous Steak Night where the attached photo came with either a pint or glass of wine for just £15. The rump was cooked perfectly to order and I will be returning!

Went to the Steak night last night. Food was great. Fantastic deal for £15. Service was friendly and professional.
