BaoBun Lisburn Road in Belfast

I used to pop in every now and again for the lunch deal which was a bao, spiced fries and a drink for 8. The same is now 12, with an extra bao, but it's called a meal deal. The lunch deal for 9 is now only a single bao and a heap of rice, no fries, no drink. I asked twice not to have peanuts on my sad little rice, but guess what - I got flippin peanuts regardless. Edit: I see BaoBun has replied to my review and has completely missed the point. I get it that inflation drives prices up and don't mind paying more for the same thing. My beef is that it wasn't the same thing, so effectively it was a combo of inflation and shrinkflation where portions get smaller - in this case a third smaller as there was no drink or fries offered in the so called deal. That's all there is to it, no need to act derisively or make me sound petty by offering me a 1 refund as clearly that's not what it was about. Good day to you.

Wrong order, food not even tasty I have ordered baos and got rice instead. Below my order there was a restaurant number, so I called them, I was told the number on delivero is incorrect and I was given a different number just to be told nothing can be done and I need to contact delivero, so there was no chance of getting correct order. Aimee was unapologetic and unhelpful. Also the dish was ment to have kimchi in it, and it had raw cabbage and carrot instead. Food was very tasteless, you can make it much better at home and not waste yor money.

Great wee spot on the Lisburn road. Food is delicious and service is speedy. Loved sitting at the window and people watching while eating. Would definitely recommend.

It's not often you try somewhere new and be pleasantly surprised by both the food and staff, this was the case for us this evening. There is a blonde haired girl that can't do enough for you, she's a proper credit to this business. Food recommendations were fantastic from both members of staff. Thoroughly impressed and will be a regular customer going forward.

We were there Monday the 11th of Sept '23. The Lady serving was extremely helpful, friendly and provided exceptionally good service. She was very knowledgeable on food allergens and in truth couldn't do enough for us.

We tried all the vegan options, popcorn cauliflower, char siu jackfruit, crispy tofu and walnut mushroom. These baos are very authentic, being from Singapore myself it’s almost impossible to find any truly authentic Asian food. Excellent food with attentive service and helpful, friendly staff! Highly recommend!

This is our favourite branch of BaoBun. Friendly staff, great food, nice surroundings, and bao served on plates and bowls. Consistently good quality.

First time in with my family tonight, we had tofu, pulled beef, pork and chicken, food was delicious, a staff member was more than helpful, friendly, and couldn't have done more. Would definitely go back, and will definitely recommend it to friends.

Ordered via UberEats. Such good food. Well presented and extremely tasty. Nice little touches like the curd sprinkled over the bao bun didn't go unnoticed either. Good value.

Fantastic Bao! Found the menu ordering system a little confusing as it was our first time here. The front of house employees were great at helping us through this, however, although communication was a little bit more difficult with all of us wearing masks and the very effective and essential perspex screen with holes in it to shout through! Food was really delicious. Tried several types of Bao and all were good. Kids loved their children's meals as well. The spicy fries with Szechuan dip were especially good. Effective dividers between the tables also making this small space feel more safe. If I'm being picky, the Kimchi was a bit too hot for the kids and I don't think it has been fermented for long enough; was a bit thin and sweet. The staff here are very friendly and a credit to the business. Can't wait to visit again! Update Jan 2023... Yep, still great! 😋

My favourite place, i drive an hour to get one every time and it's always worth it, we ordered our food for take out and here I am eating leftovers 5 hours later and i never eat leftovers from anywhere bar here, the ice cream dessert thing is out of this world. Staff are always helpful and friendly and have very good customer service.

Good place for a snack. Fun tasty and delicious. At £8:75 for 2 baos it’s not cheap. They have various fillings. The walnut mushrooms is very good. Tried the jackfruit and the popcorn cauliflower ones too. It’s messy to eat so be prepared. A meal deal is for £12:75 with fries and a drink with your baos. Good enough for one time for me atleast, not sure I would come back again.

Overpriced junk. Bun was soggy and tasted like it was half raw. Contents shredded and mashed with no texture Even the chips were inedible. It has been a long time since l had such a bad meal. Doesn't even deserve a one star.

Awful! Ordered the BBQ jackfruit bao bun and it was gross! The flavour was so artificial. Looks like a lot of MSG judging by the colour.

A Friday night treat. You won't be disappointed. Wide variety. Friendly, helpful staff. Hygienic with screens up for separation between tables. We wish it was closer to us so we could go more often, but it makes for a lovely treat. Would recommend the Bao with Pork, and House Sauce. And the Katsu fries are delicious.

I can take it or leave it hence the rating. Good that they offer a veggie only offering. In my opinion your experience may be determined by who's staffing the customer facing roles. Prices have risen to reflect increased raw materials cost, which is fair. It might be a better experience if you sit in, I always take away.

Please avoid this place. There underpay there staff and cut corners to screw them over. They abuse all there staff and take advantage of them by cutting corners and using shady tactics to screw with them and there paycheck. When confronted the business found this hilarious and laughed in my face. Food is also stinking

One of my favourite places to eat in Belfast! I am not vegan or vegetarian but I always get the jackfruit or tofu, it is very yummy in my tummy ☺️. Whether it's on rice or chips, it never fails to satisfy my hunger and taste buds

Really tasty food , had many meals from here , the bao's are tasty but the chicken on chips with house sauce or avioli sauce is the meal I'd choose ,really fresh food , if you haven't I'd definitely recommend takeaway from here .

Visited today for 1st time for some propper BaoBuns. Michael was great with the welcome and doing a full run through of the menu and how to order the combinations. Food was awsome, very filling and packed with flavour and texture. Cheers to all the team.

Delicious food. I visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The staff were incredibly helpful. I’ve just returned again and it did not disappoint. I would highly recommend the food.

I am absolutely astonished at how good the food was. Got the pork burger with House slaw, my quite fussy 7 year old son got the kids meal with pork…probably one of the tastiest dining experiences I’ve ever had. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Couldn’t recommended any more.

Came here after a nice day at the beach during the heatwave looking for some nice takeout and was absolutely not disappointed. I got a bao burger with char siu and the korean BBQ combo and it was absolutely lovely. I have had chinese in London with dumplings before and ever since I have been missing them - BaoBun has given me a taste of Char Siu again. The fries that came with it were brilliant as well, similiar in size to McDonalds but not soggy in the slightest and they were nicely seasoned. I will certainly be coming back - no question.

First time at BaoBun and it won't be my last! The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly, and helpful. They were very patient as I muddled my way through my order. Next time I will be more confident when ordering. The atmosphere in the place was lovely and we were able to sit in and eat. Everything was very well socially distanced.

For the size of the Bao buns, they are extremely filling. Got the pork 'hot' ones, BBQ beef, and popcorn chicken fries. The selection is excellent, staff very friendly, nice you can sit in a causal environment and the food is extremely tasty, with great flavours and textures. Could be considered on the more expensive side, as prices soon add up, but it's definitely a treat. Can see why it's so popular, and would be unfair to rate it anything but five star.

Lovely place, the girls behind the counter were great, friendly. Took a star off cause it wouldn't be something I'd go and eat again, was nice but I'm more a basic dinner girl. But the girls I went with love it and if it's the kind of food you like, definitely give it a go. Prices were very reasonable as well, and the chips were awesome.

Cracking fresh and tasty food!!!

I have been standing here for an hour on a bank holiday Monday. I feel very disappointed as there was more preference to deliveroo orders, meaning we have to wait 1 hour and basically we been standing watching how deliveroo orders has been made. Lastly they forgot to add the forks. Not happy with that!

I have just eaten the most delicious chicken burger ever with house salad side. I usually go for the popcorn chicken bao bun and thought I'd try something different. Highly recommend it, and will definitely be back. Staff very friendly too. Thank you

Absolutely delicious food. Good variety of food, excellent portions and decent prices.

Ordered a Bao Bun with Beef and Korean BBQ, the flavours and consistency are an absolute delight to the taste buds. Decent portion size as it's not a challenge to finish but also not leaving me still hungry. The fries are also sensational, lovely and crispy with a fluffy inside, exceptional seasoning and beautifully aromatic, the Szechuan dip makes an excellent pairing. Absolutely love this place, very happy to spend my money here.

My wife and I tried here for the first time today. I had a BaoBun with beef and asian coleslaw, it was absolutely beautiful. The sauce wasn't too strong and the bun was lovely and soft. My wife had a rice box with sezuan beef and house topping, again it was beautiful, everything judt went well together. We will definitely be going back.

This store does not follow covid rules at all. They cut a hole in the screen and forced me to stand in front of it, or they refused to take my order. I have health problems so it’s very important to me that places are as covid safe as they can be. After I finally got my order across, the portion was just miserable compared to what I’ve gotten in other bao stores. I love the food at bao and would highly recommend, just not at this store. The staff are just rude and have no regard for the safety of customers.

Bao Bun is great. My personal recommendation would be the kimchi fires. The flavour will burst in your mouth! You can get the Meal deal nr 3 I think, that includes Bao Buns and the kimchi fries. Fair warning tho- you will be stuffed to the brim! Massive portions!

Tastes really nice! It tastes unusual at first because I haven't tasted anything like this but then the flavour becomes salivating once it's your second time.

First time in Bao Bun today and now feel like I've been missing out. Food prepared quickly and fresh ingredients and a cracking selection. Even better that they have lots of solid meat free options as well. We both had the 'Cauliflower Popcorn' which was amazing. Extremely friendly service with food recommendations for first timers. Great for a 'lockdown' meal with Cranmore Park right beside. Highly recommended.
