BAO + BBQ in Cheltenham

I very enjoyable meal, smokey and delicious. Quite atmosphere and great service. Worthy of a special occasion.

We went here for Valentine’s Day and it was delicious. Lots of great reviews so we had to try it out selves. We got the Strawberry daiquiri cocktail and the Taiwanese Sapphire cocktail which were both delicious and would get again. For the mains we shared the Bao BBQ Pulled Pork, Bao Drunken Crispy Duck, Bao Longhorn Brisket, Blacken Cod, Korean Fries and Smoked Sunomono. All very delicious.

We had a great experience, the food was delicious. I’ve had many bao buns before but these were some of the best!

Loved it - had a completely indulgent solo lunch. The food was delicious and so well described by my server so I didn't over order (as I am wont to do!) and a fabulous cocktail. I'll be back and I might even share with friends!

The food was amazing. Starter - drunken crispy duck bao bun ; this was a well balanced dish and looked stunning Main - smoked brisket rice bowl ; This came with a rich broth which complimented the dish well Dessert - BAO + BBQ pudding ; this dessert came with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream overall well balanced and would recommend. The service was excellent and very friendly. The restaurant is small but has an open kitchen which I love to see.

First time visiting this restaurant and I would drive the 6 hours back here to come again. We had the new menu and it was all absolutely incredible, the brisket rice bowl was my favourite. The new puddings weren’t available yet and now I need to come back just to try them.

Just tasted the new menu, specifically the ramen. The dish was excellent, great flavour and a massive portion. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal, attentive staff and brilliant setting.

I went here for a valentines meal and it couldn’t have been the most perfect spot. The food was so delicious and the staff are super attentive, I would highly recommend going here! The duck bao and pulled pork bao were so yummy aswell as the korean wings. I can’t wait to come back and try the blackened cod.

Food was amazing, such a great variety. It was very quiet in there, felt like we had to whisper.

Not being in the first flush of youth I have eaten a lot of beef burgers over my lifetime, but none compare to the exquisite taste of the ones BAO BBQ serve up for their customers. Excellent service and a nice environment too, so a well deserved 5 starts all round.

You can do no better than to have a meal here. The food and service are consistently brilliant!! It’s one of the best restaurants in the area!

We had an absolutely wonderful evening here, the staff, the food, the atmosphere were all superb. The Bao Selecta option on the menu was fab and filling, and it meant we got to try and few different dishes, the chefs took great care and attention to their dishes. Would definitely recommend, it didn’t break the bank either which is always a bonus!

Fabulous food and drinks and really friendly staff. Good value too. But maybe having a playlist longer than 1 or maybe 2 songs is a good idea, especially if one of them has a really noticeable loud bit so there's no denying the diners have already heard it. I think we must've counted at least 4 or 5 repeats

Incredible BBQ spot that totally delivers. Back for our second visit and still blown away by the quality. The brisket is honestly the best I've had - perfectly smoked and just melts in your mouth. Staff are great, always making sure you're taken care of without hovering. Love the vibe of the place too - it's got a really nice atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while. If you're in Cheltenham and love proper BBQ, this place is a must. Easily our favourite restaurant in town.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

We booked BAO & BBQ for our company Christmas lunch and it was a fantastic experience. The food is excellent with a wide range of options and the staff were attentive and had everything planned so smoothly. Will definitely be going there again!

It's not bad. Overpriced though. Food was tasty but I don't think my sharing platter was worth the £44 per person. Quality and quantity just weren't there for that. I was on a table of 6 and it was far too small. I couldn't even balance my knife and fork on the 3 inch plate that I was given, it ended up falling on the floor. Also, as the windows are single pane it was freezing cold. Also don't buy the cocktails. £12 for a Snowball and I didn't finish it. One of the worst I've had.

OMG. I had seen a photo of their Xmas special platter so I knew it looked good, but it didn't do the real thing justice! Beware it's a LOT of meat, but it all got eaten because it was so good! And the staff are on the ball, my friend dropped his knife on the floor and by the time he had picked it up the waiter was there with a clean one to replace it! I also highly recommend the Puglia, a great wine at a very reasonable price for such a good restaurant. Well worth the visit.

We celebrated the birthday of Paulinka there and they had a very nice detail with us on the dessert. They served us a chocolate cake for Paulinka to blow the candles which was a perfect closure for a very nice meal! The service was excellent

Food was very tasty, but very small portions. Great atmosphere. New experience for us which we enjoyed but portion sizes could have been bigger. Otherwise is it a great place to enjoy a meal out with the family. Customer Service was excellent and friendly service and attentive. Would recommend this place definitely. An excellent venue with sublime food, we had the T-Bone platter and it was divine. We are foodie and this is more than enough for 2 people, you could even have a third! I would highly recommend anyone to come here and enjoy a delightful experience

Was really excited to try this place and it didn’t disappoint! We had 3 x bao buns each and Korean fries to share Duck / pulled pork / brisket bao buns all to die for and the chips were lovely too! Recommend the pork crackling to nibble on before hand! Great service & brilliant food, we will be back!!

Called in on a Friday night with no booking after reading a few reviews and they luckily found us a table for two, and what a treat we had! Staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating allowing us a taster of the wine and a description of the food before ordering. Small dishes and a recommendation to order 3 to 4 dishes per person, so we ordered 6 between us which was plenty. The flavours of each dish were superb and it was a joy to “sample” so many contrasting but supplementary dishes. We had high expectations from the atmosphere and these were more than met by the staff and food, will definitely book in advance and return!

Warning: they take online reservations at 7:30 on Sunday when, come to find out they CLOSE at 7:30. No explanation given when we asked why on earth they would do that. Now we have to find a completely new dinner plan at the last minute.

Our vist to BAO & BBQ was nothong short of exquisite! The service was outstanding and the food was out of this world. The Bang Bang Cauliflower was unreal and then we were surprised at the end of the meal with a BAO Bun dessert! We will be back again soon!

Second time coming here and it was a lovely experience once again. Food is so flavoursome and lovely. My wife and I shared 10 small plates/sides between us and that was more than enough. The bang bang cauliflower, the arancini and the Korean fries were all particularly good!
