Banyan in Leeds

Male member or staff giving us eye contact would not serve us, excuse he gave that they working in ‘sections’ although moving to one side of the bar to other was his section, missing us each time. Eventually got served, took out drinks in a respectable manner and drank outside. Out of the blue a ‘female’ manager came outside, and asked to speak to me, accused me of calling the staff member Racist and asked us to leave after finishing drinks. Neither the male staff member who should have served apologised, he just argued nor the female so called manager apologised. Her attitude was disgusting to say the least, came out and instead of apologising on the staff members behalf or even acknowledging we should have been served before others (who were all white people) she made accusations and assumptions. Definitely not managerial material, a disgrace of an attitude and genuine felt this female member of staff was we being unreasonable. Laughed in my face and then asked me not to point her out. We left abruptly. Security was a young man who if we decided to make matters worse would have been unable to handle the situation. Genuinely the worst bar experience I’ve ever had. The male member of staff just needed to apologise but argued and then the female manager who defiantly is not manager material was just pathetic rather than empathetic. Absolute disgrace of a racist situation that was not handled in a reasonable manner. Wish I got names of these two individuals so I could oust them but the male was a scruffy looking young white male and the female manager was way out of their depth with the attitude of someone who’s entitled. Complained here as well as head office and socials. Genuinely cannot believe the experience we’ve just had. Racism still exists even at drinking establishments. Wow!

Visited Banyan for my birthday celebration along with two friends. We had arranged for Bottomless Brunch. All I can say is that we certainly felt treated with endless drinks and cocktails brought to us with excellent service from the Banyan team. I didn’t get the name of our waitress but she was amazing. Very polite and helpful explaining what our brunch included. The food was also good we were able to choose from a brunch menu. Two of us had burgers and the other person had avocado and poached eggs. We were immediately served a bottle of Prosecco while we chose our drinks and food. We were later provided another bottle of Prosecco which we thought was brilliant. Thanks Banyan for helping me to celebrate my special day.

The food was excellent. The problem was I bought a large glass of Pinot Grigio as a spritzer (soda water) and was charged £6:25. An hour later I bought another one and was charged £7:95. Not a small inconsistency. I would encourage you to check prices before buying.

The staff was rude and served us the wrong food. Instead of rectifying the mistake and bringing us what we ordered and paid for, they accused us of lying. The other manager was more understanding and apologized, but being called liars was a horrible experience. We paid for food that we never received. This used to be our go-to place, but not anymore. I feel attacked and treated terribly.

Appalling service, food and timing - we arrived at 11.15 when quiet but did not receive our food for over an hour and twenty mins. Some food wasn’t cooked enough (eggs In one dish, the sausages In another) my soup was only presented room temperature. One entire brunch item was “code 86” - this means completely out, not an ingredient but the whole dish. Honestly, free vouchers wouldn’t get me back there.

Just popped in here last minute for a bite to eat. When we got there we were told by Tom (Tm) it would be a 45 minute wait for food. As we needed to feed our baby we decided to stay for a drink while we fed him. Tom approached us to tell us if we ordered specific things off the menu he could arrange for them to be brought quicker than the original wait. This was so helpful and we were all fed and watered and out withing an hour. Excellent service. Above and beyond.

After coming for lunch at Banyan Roundhay 23/11/23 Just had to make a comment. My friend and I ordered the bowl of carrot and coriander soup with cheese twist each .What we got after a very long wait took my breath away and not for the right reason.The bowls which were dangerously hot consisted of 2 spoonfuls of oily congealed mass, which had never seen a carrot nor coriander ever!With a side portion of half a cheese twist. Which was served burnt, greasy and inedible! We made it quite clear we didn’t want to eat it. The staff members told us confidently that the portions are weighed out??? Alas my lunch consisted of a portion of French fries and a peppermint tea. Not good enough Banyan Roundhay.

Early evening meal on a 241 voucher. Was a lovely meal and the service was great from Brontë. Very clean and a nice environment and atmosphere.

Went for dinner with friends. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The food is imaginative and well presented and all agreed that it was a good meal all round. It turned out that it was a quiz night: who knew? Had fun doing that, but we didn’t win, but hey, no big deal. We will return to try other menu offerings. All things considered it was a fun evening. What more can you ask for?

Best avoided... manager thinks it normal to charge customer again for sub-standard item replacement. We won't be returning.

Popped in for lunch. A glorious day, the venue has a fabulous outside space. Staff were extremely friendly. We had 2 Firecracker Chicken Salads. Full of flavour. They also have some great offers on. We used a Tastecard. A great experience. Wish we had one in London!

Visited Banyan Roundhay last night for a long overdue catch up with friends. The service was great and Joe behind the bar was professional and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The food was tasty and we would definitely recommend the sharing platter. The ambience outside was equal to being abroad We’ll be back soon.

Came to banyan around 9pm and was greeted with lovely service by the host Grace who looked after us the rest of the night. I approached the bar where Sam made us some lovely cocktails and greeted us with a smile. The whole team are gorgeous and I can’t wait to return!

We had another lovely veggie breakfast at Banyan. The veggie sausages are particularly good. We were looked after once again, by Joe, who's charming, kind and helpful. Thanks again to the team at Banyan.

Great atmosphere and fantastic drinks. We called in and got a Pornstar Martini Tree during a night out. The bar was lively but not too loud. We were able to chat and catch up without having to shout to be heard.
