Really nice huge cup of coffee. Cakes were delicious. It was a very cozy place just in between towns.

VERY OVERPRICED AND VERY SLOW SERVICE… dirty cutlery, dirty tables and just overall very disappointing. 1st visit was for a fruit smoothie which was nice, 2nd was a pit stop with children. Kids wouldn’t eat the food or the ice cream. I ate mine as was starving, asked for my sandwich toasted and decided they would serve it on a current t-cake instead but ate it as I had already waited 30minutes for the sarny but has scarred me for life.. the sandwich and the experience here. Long and short, cheap crap and very overpriced with a long wait… £7 for a breakfast sandwich (2 items) and £3 for a ribena. Disgusting food and disgusting price.

I guessed the coffee was going to be bad from the steam wand not being wiped down, I was right, no care. The cups are white like a cheap hotel. Brownie was nice, ish.

Great for cyclists, great prices, big portions

Cute place for a bit of lunch after a walk around Langsett. Portion sizes are a hark back to better times and the staff are lovely. The secondhand books are great for anyone with a keen interest in the hiking/mountaineering. Would recommend!

Popped in for lunch before we set off on a walk around the reservoir. Toasties and chips were excellent, big portions and service was really quick. So good we had to call in on the way home for cake!

Great little spot for a tea/coffee and scone, particularly after a wet and windy walk around Langsett Reservoir and the surrounding heathland. Expect a warm and very friendly welcome as well!

Went here to meet friends, 2 full breakfasts and a bacon sandwich over £40, had to wait nearly 40 mins for food to arrive which seemed to be yesterdays warm ups, once bitten twice shy, lost my business

Ate here last Saturday morning there were a few of us in.i ordered the full English the coffee had no milk come with it, the toast was cold and hard, the fried eggs were burnt and dry the bacon was that crispy I put my knife on it to cut it and it just fell to pieces.the mushrooms hadn't been cooked properly and the sausages seemed like they were yesterday's warmed up, over done and dry very unpleasant.my daughter who is 11 had the little English breakfast and even she said that it was the worst breakfast she's ever had.i just laughed because she was right it was horrible,definitely not worth paying £41 for 2 adult breakfasts a small breakfast and a milkshake.it was my 1st and last time going to this place.never again

Had the woodhead vegan breakfast which was just weird, loads of beige food, falfafal, corn balls and a weird potato sausage and the weirdest of all baked courgette. Food was poorly spiced and was all just mushy. For £14 you could so such a better breakfast, proper soy based sausages, and just making sure the food is well seasoned.

Our group (14 cyclists) arrived and served in a well organised fashion by just two staff. We might have eaten all the 'Langsett Dam Cake'

Absolutely fantastic cafe friendly staff. The steak and stout pie is to die for. Be warned they soon sell out. Fear not the filled Yorkshire pudding home made of course is a very good substitute

Have visited this cafe several times in recent years as it’s on the way from Manchester to Lincoln. Always a warm welcome, great tea and coffee. Outstanding scones (shop bought ones are sticky and chewy often, these are totally different and melt in your mouth). Nice atmosphere with a strong theme of walking, climbing and cycling. Picnic tables at the back if weather is good. Visited twice last week (mid/late September 2024) - wouldn’t miss it for anything.

The coffee is drinkable, and the restaurant itself is very cozy, but you can certainly find better coffee. Unfortunately, what really doesn't work is the smell of the fryer that permeates the entire café. It smells like a fast-food joint.

Had a couple of tuna mayo rolls here yesterday, a couple of bacon/sausage rolls and a pot of tea and was disappointed with both the quality and the cost. The rolls were pretty average, unlike the really nice bread used at the Hassop Station Cafe over near Bakewell. The side salad was really disappointing and they were £7.50 each, which was too much. The bacon in one of the rolls was incinerated. The tea was a little light on the teabags. Total cost £35 which was pretty poor considering we could make it at home better. Was a stop off point on my sons driving practice, but I think we will head West into the Peak next time. Been to this cafe before once or twice, as it is the only cafe around here...but it is losing pace with others in the area. Even cyclists might start to complain. Cycling has gone up market and this place is not as good as the Adventure Cafe in Hope or the Hassop Station Cafe...which provide better quality food. I think if a rival place starts up, it will struggle to complete.

Had an amazing visit here and will definitely be back. The breakfast was amazing (veggie breakfast) it came with a hot drink and toast. The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly throughout. Couldn't recommend it enough and the chocolate brownie was out of this world.

Recommend the hot pork sandwich or Yorkshire pudding meal. The cakes are also homemade and splendid. Well worth a visit if your cycling or walking I'm the area.

Bacon butty and coffee stop during bike ride, sat out in the garden. £8.50, very nice

Fantastic food as always, however please sort the toilets out. They were disgusting, particularly the sink area. Here there are three cubicles for use by any human and one disabled cubicle. On this occasion there was only one cubicle available and the disabled cubicle. I can't describe how filthy the sink area was.

Great location for local walks. Hearty food that comes in large portions. Coffee could be improved. Inside and outside seating, dog-friendly.

A great location, food is good but portions are decreasing and prices increasing to such a level it's not value for money. £14 for standard breakfast is Bistro pricing. It's a shame because it was our go to place for many years now I'm not sure we will be back .

It was a little hard to judge the food as I could eat it as I was and my breakfast was attacked by flies to the extent thar it upset my 7 year old son. 1 fly yeah but to have 5 or 6 attacking our food was too much. Had to leave the food.

Great place for snacks before your hike/walk. Great for meals. Great to come here after an early morning walk or after a wild camp. Great breakfasts. All tastes and catered for. Vegan and vegetarian options. Great staff.

Always wanted to visit this place but everytime we pass, it always seems very busy - It was today but we had walked up the trial. We didn't hang around as it was busy but we sampled some cakes...Highly recommend the Rocky Road 😋

Food lovely, service lovely, but toilets horrendous, in great need of a clean and restock of soap. We had a lovely piece of homemade flapjack and rocky road and then had a loo stop and 🤢. Totally spoilt it for us. Get your loos sorted and it would have been a 5*

Can’t beat a good coffee stop while out cycling. This place ticks all boxes, great coffee, food and helpful staff.

We called here for breakfast whilst camping nearby. It was an enormous breakfast with really nice quality produce. Will definitely be going back!

Genuinely one of the most horrendous experiences I've had. I also believe the owner needs mental health support, and I mean that with sincerity. We booked a room for a business meeting as their website advertised we could. Upon arrival we where asked to move out cars from the car park to the nearby public car park, fair enough I thought as we had 22 members of staff present and it's a small car park. I asked if I could set up a tab and if he would want me to leave a card or deposit, the response was don't worry we would find you, which I considered alarming and aggressive. Half way through my meeting/training the owner once again interrupted me mid conversation to say more cars would need moving( we only had three cars left, one being mine and as I was paying the bill thought I should have a space) I promptly said not a problem just give us ten. The owner the shouted I was disrespectful and stood in the centre of the room fists clenched, eyes shut doing breathing exercises, wow! I did say we had brought 22 people in all having drinks and a meal that he wouldn't normally have, and had he asked any other customers to move? He continued doing breathing exercises. I asked staff to move whatever cars where left. When exiting I asked to speak to him but was refused. The ladies serving where nice and polite. The food is standard greasy spoons food, but is over charged. What you don't realise is we have been visiting your cafe with clients for over three years now and had that big meeting, we now won't be visiting again in any capacity, so by trying to penny pinch on one day you've lost a lot of revenue, when you didn't need to , you just had to be nice.

That “George” “Robson” served me today, he was very ignorant and messed up my order completely, I got given a cheese and ham toastie on BROWN! And I asked for a Yorkshire pudding with meat. Absolutely appalling, 1/10 never coming back.

I popped in here after a walk around the area and had pie, chips & mushy peas, a Langsett Cake (can't remember the exact name) and a pot of tea. Fairly large portions of them all. The cake was delicious, as was the homemade steak pie & chips. Pricing was more than reasonable and I'd definitely pop in again when I'm up that way on again.

Absolutely disastrous, After a laborious drive across the country back to Sheffield we decided to stop for what we hoped would be a 5 star breakfast worthy of the £14 price tag it commends only to be disappointed beyond belief, not only did we let our stomachs rule our brain after walking through the door to the stench of old fat we decided to give it a try. Here’s the list of issues, • asked to swap fried bread for bread and butter….. never happened. •Deep fried sausage….not good •Bacon that salty I now need a 24hr IV •Beans that hard I wonder how I never chipped a tooth. •Not a fan of shallow fried eggs gone hard and crispy. •Deep fried mushrooms swimming in grease. I hereby sadly conclude my review and will never be stopping there again.

Disaster from start to finish. Drinks didn’t arrive so had to ask again for them (This was after the tables after us had been served theirs). Then wrong drinks arrived, then no milk brought with the tea. Soon after cold breakfasts arrived.. had to ask for cutlery as that also didn’t arrive with food. Staff were constantly bringing wrong food to wrong tables to which customers were all shaking their heads at how badly organised the place was. Didn’t bother to complain about our food being cold as it was obvious after all the mistakes that it was just better to give it up as a bad job! The picture is what I got charged £7 for! (Add a cold piece of toast and a tea bag). Overcooked, cold egg, cold beans, a greasy veggie sausage and cold mushrooms. It wasn’t busy and plenty of staff so no excuse for any of this. If you wouldn’t serve your family what you’ve put on a plate then don’t serve it to paying customers. Will take advice given by a customer outside to go to Fox valley next time.

We stopped here for afternoon tea, the scones just crumbled into little pieces it was difficult to even put anything on it, the tea was very nice from the pot! The place needs a good clean it’s dirty, I know dogs can go in and walkers, but there is no need for it to have cobwebs everywhere, it needs a good clean! Looking back through the picture it looks like it’s gone down hill and needs a clean and paint.we wouldn’t stop here again.

Excellent traditional cafe. Great homemade food in proper sized portions with genuinely friendly staff. I can't imagine driving over the Woodhead Pass without stopping here.

On a cold, damp, miserable day we'd hoped for a warm cafe in which to enjoy a hot drink. Not to be.

Just called ln today. A dream of a steak pie. Quality meat, pastry yummy and gravy. Proper chips and plenty of. Even tea was yorkshire. Get thi sen their. Staff a joy to talk to.

Enjoyed an excellent bacon sandwich after a local walk around Langsett Reservoir. I would recommend both the sandwich and the walk.

Six of us turned up for a breakfast. Despite a shortage of staff our full English breakfasts turned up without delay and very tasty it was too. Impressive.

Welcome relief after long wet walk...decent food at reasonable prices

We were first in, but had a queue behind us, it was freezing inside and, not a welcome environment from the freezing temperatures outside. Ordered four lots of their pancakes, my kids normally have them and I look on in envy, so today I caved in. We got one pot of maple Syrup, enough for 2 plates, when I asked for another portion I received a cold pot of golden syrup. 21st century, modern world problems I know, but I paid £36 for 4 plates of pancakes. I then had to ask for extra milk to go with the 4 pots of weak tea. We have attended this place regularly, in passing, after a walk and when desperate for sustinence, we may have eaten anything in those circumstances. Today we went out of our way, after watching the sunrise and what a spoiler. I wouldn't go out of my way again to attend the café.

Dogs allowed inside which is great as not many places do. Vastly over priced. Sausages were lovely. Could tell the bread had been out too long, a bit stale Burger was burnt (dogs enjoyed it though) Strangest coleslaw I've ever seen.
