This restaurant is amazing. The aesthetic when you walk in is like be transported away. The beautiful tables with wooden sculptures within are lovely to look at. The food here was outstanding.  Having recently got back from Thailand I have been going to as many Thai restaurants as possible. I had a dish which I had a number of times out there and this was definitely on par with the food from Bangkok. Full of flavour, tender meat and so so fresh and quickly served. The ladies working were lovely hosts and very attentive. Speaking some basic thai to them put a smile on their faces seeing someone make the effort to speak Thai I guess. I will return here again to try the many other options on the menu.

Tasty and freshly cooked food and nicely presented. Only criticism is the the papaya salad, while having at nice chile kick lacked lime and sweetness.

Wherever you go I always try to find a good Thai restaurant, Bangkok House is good! Everything looks very authentic and as you sit at your table you will notice all the fine details of your surroundings, Service is excellent and your food is tasty and presented well, We all enjoyed our dishes and will definitely be back. Excellent food and service. The whole experience was great. Very quiet when we were there; an evening meal for 2 between Christmas and New year.

The Thai Restaurant is amazing. The food is delicious, with a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes to choose from. The flavors are bold and well-balanced, and the portion sizes are generous. The service is excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with beautiful Thai decor. Overall, it's a fantastic dining experience that I highly recommend.

This is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a lot of ambiance. Our mains were 5 out 5 and absolutely lovely. unfortunately the starters were a little bland / lack lustre and came out almost immediately after ordering, so this is the only reason for a 4 star review and not 5. The restaurant felt very clean and the staff were great. Highly recommend the Pad Thai and Chicken Penang.

Food was absolutely superb! Authentic taste, great depth of flavour and delicious all the way through. Staff are very pleasant and friendly too.

The food was as authentic as you can get. Piping hot and beautiful tasting. The service was polite and efficient without being over bearing. The atmosphere and decor made us feel like we were back in Thailand.

I loved this place. The restaurant itself is very beautiful with lots of nice carved wood. The staff are very friendly. I had duck larb and I think it was the nicest larb I've ever had. Big chunky pieces of crispy, fatty roasted duck with a delicious spicy larb dressing.

The first time we came for dinner, it was lovely. Good food and all the usual choices. Felt like a decent standard. However yesterday at dinner we were let down - still great service. But food was bland and flavourless. The beef (both the skewers in the starter and the beef curry) was extremely tough and chewy. In the end I did not finish my meal. Such a shame as Canterbury needs a more diverse food scene and thought this hit the mark. I don't think we will be returning again for a long time.

Best Thai and one of the best restaurants in Canterbury. We go almost every week and it’s consistently good. Highly recommend.

I put 4 star for food because there could be more options for stir fry veggies with different sauces. But overall the food was amazing , nice ambience and we received very good service. 😊

Fabulous evening for four. We had a 3-course meal and wine with the starter for 4, fish soup for 4 and mains courses. We thoroughly enjoyed all courses. We will definitely revisit again. Thank you. 🙏

The best thai in Canterbury. From the authentic atmosphere and decorations with hand carved tables, to the well cooked food and high quality ingredients used. It's a favourite in town. Owners are great and the service couldn't be better! There is a reason this restaurant has been doing so well for so long!

We went to this restaurant after reading so many good reviews. The staff were friendly and service was prompt. The decor in the restaurant is lovely. The dishes we ordered came out piping hot which is good. However, we were disappointed because the Pad Thai did not come with the usual garnishment like roasted peanuts and a lemon slice. It was too sweet. The Tom Yum Goong had nice king prawns but the soup tasted watery without the real zing of tangyness. There was only a slither of ginger and I simply cannot taste any other ingredients such as lemon grass. There were certainly no evidence nor traces of any coriander or kaffer lime on any of the dishes. The deep fried Tilapia was OK.

What a great little find in Canterbury. We were just exploring Canterbury and came across this little place. It was just my husband and myself and we have an amazing Thai restaurant where we live, but this was just as good. Really lovely atmosphere, great decor and lovely staff. The food was very good and if in Canterbury I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. We shared Set Menu B and there was plenty of food for the both of us, including plenty of rice. Definitely recommend.

Surprisingly good Thai food. I was expecting the average English unauthentic Thai food, but was pleasantly surprised by the taste, variety, and decor. Certainly one of the better Thai restaurants in Kent.

My favourite Thai in the area. Hadn’t been for a few years and was very pleased to find that the quality and flavour I remembered was still as good. The best chicken satay starter for miles around. They don’t hurry you out the door either which I appreciate. Love this place will be back 😊

Probably the most authentic thai food I had, in not just kent, but in the whole of UK. Also very wallet friendly!!!

Food was good. But the lady serving us was rude and short. Didn’t smile and wasn’t nice when we were polite and thanked her often. Ordered the Stir fried chicken with ginger and in the menu it said it would come with black fungus. It didn’t. Asked her where they were and she pointed at one chopped up button mushroom. Also ordered the Tom yum Goong. It was okay but not balanced. Had to ask for lemon to make it more acidic. There were no vegetables, lemon grass or minced ingredients at the bottom of the soup.

Out for my partner's birthday meal. What a great restaurant it is, the decor was nicely atmospheric and the waitress was charming. We had a great meal there and the food was well presented and very tasty. We will definitely visit again. 5 star.

My favourite place to eat. My partner and I had our second date here back in 2007. The food is so good that we have been back many many times since then. The Thai red curry is amazing and don’t get me started on the incredible sweet and sour sauce. Wear trousers with a stretchy waist. You will eat so much that you’ll need them!

Wonderful atmosphere in addition to delicious, well-portioned dishes. The intricate decor, from wall art to beautifully adorned tables and cutlery and dishes made for an incredibly satisfying meal. The pad Thai, curries, and drinks also deserve a shout out for authentic flavors profiles! Lastly, the service is wonderful and welcoming.

We visited this restaurant again the same week first time was extremely good tasty and delicious second time everything was wrong food not Cook the same standard and the Thai curry was like a soup so watery and too spicy can't eat it felt like we we're in totally different restaurant so diseppointed I left hungry never Go back again what's ashame

We had a very tasty meal, capped by being repeatedly correctly gender identified by our lovely server. Throughly recommended.

The staff were not particularly friendly, the decor, whilst I appreciate the traditional Thia art work which consists of lots of wooden carvings, the place was dark and not particularly clean. Wish I had checked the hygiene rating before we went as has a score of 3. The food was poor, starting from the awful looking prawn crackers which looked like they had been in a cupboard for several years. Red curry and Pad Thia were so lacking in taste. We had to ask for some chilli oil and soy sauce which definitely added some taste. We haven't had many bad experiences with Thia food but sadly this has to be one of our worse. Would not recommend.

came here really excited to eat authentic thai cuisine but was met with utter disappointment. as a southeast asian who worships thai food, the food is not even a tenth as flavourful or tasty as what it should be. the portions were really small too.

This place has a nice calming atmosphere with an excellent choice of beautiful food, its cooked to perfection and served promptly. The waiting staff are attentive at the right times. Full of beautiful carving to look at or bay. They also do take away and I have used both services and always been very happy with my experience here. Can’t rate it highly enough.

Lovely restaurant. Had the B set menu for two. Thought it was great value. Lovely decor, and dog free. So both hygienic, and suitable for people with allergies and dog sensitive asthma, unlike far too many eateries in the area.

We went to Bancock House pre covid for a meal & were very impressed. This evening we had a takeaway & found all dishes bland & disapointing.

This place is the worst Thai restaurant I've ever been to. This was the first time ever that I made a choice to pay for our meals and just leave. The food did not taste like thai food at all. We've been to Bangkok a couple of times already, and this is not how the food should have tasted. It was watered down and the chicken smelled funky like it had been out for a while. Definitely do not recommend this place. If you're looking for a good thai restaurant, this is not the place.

Where do I start? This place is a gem I reserved a table for my partner and I. Really good service. The food is incredible we had a sharing Plata for two and had green curries one prawn one chicken. If your looking for Thai food this is great. Has plenty of choice pleas try. You won't be disappointed.

The food is authentic, fresh and delicious food. As a vegetarian I can order a few of their side dishes to create a delicious meal. The home made bean curd is especially good. Lovely staff, calm environment and very beautiful interoir.

The decor is lovely and the staff were welcoming, but we were very disappointed in the food which was just bland and lacking in flavour.

If you’re visiting Canterbury and wanting some Thai foods, go to Bangkok House. We were hesitant to go in at first since there wasn’t a lot of people when we went there today. So glad we didn’t change our mind. We enjoyed our meal here and would have no problem going back tomorrow for a second meal. The decorations were great as well. We went with the set meal option for 2 since we didn’t know what to pick. Food portions were huge for 2 people! We ate before I remembered to take pictures so the amount of foods in the pictures can be misleading. Oops. The ladies were very friendly and checked on us multiple times to make sure everything was fine. Thank you for an enjoyable dinner, Ladies.

Fantastic food and beautiful décor

We eat here every week. The Tom Ka Gai is particularly delicious, but the curries are also very tasty. The baseline "heat" tends to be mild to cater for British tastes, but if you want it spicier, just ask. Eating in is a pleasure in the beautifully decorated restaurant. Take away is also a good choice for those self-isolating. Either way, the service is prompt and attentive.

The service and decor were great. Unfortunately the food was not so nice. My girlfriend's dish was average, and my sizzling steak dish was tasteless. House wine was reasonable. No authentic desserts either. When I lived in London, I dined at many different Thai restaurants there, so know the difference between the good and bad ones. As mentioned above, this one is average.

We had dinner from here a few weeks ago. It is honestly some of the worst thai food I have ever had, and everyone who ate it with me agreed. Unfortunately, every curry tasted exactly the same, and was way way too watery. You could not tell the currys apart whatsoever in flavour- we got three different ones. The only way you could tell them apart was through the colour. The pad thai noodles were very bland and also oily. Very disappointing and we will definitely not be coming back here.

OK, this place is literally so amazing. Prices were great, food amazing and decorations are so beautiful. Really recommended the soy sauce noodles, so delicious.

Was disappointed. This was our go to Thai restaurant for many years. Haven’t been in over 18 months so was looking forward to the food. Flavours was lacking in all dishes, was really disappointed.

Beautiful restaurant, shame about the food apparently it used to be really good as our friends recommended it to eat meats really dry Currys were water not as thick and tasty as it used to be their standards have slipped.. Service was ok the waitress were lovely but no table checks after we got our mains and we wanted to order more drinks but no one in site so the boys didn't have a drink. Food was well presented tho. For my 1st time here it wasn't great, I'd be pushed to give it another go 🙂

New Year's Eve treat. Great menu, I'm bit a Thai officionado... To be honest I've always avoided it after a bad London experience... But it had a good selection of basic vegetables cooked well, without fuss, great portion size and what felt like authentic decor... Some have said they thought the staff rude, I was there with better half and kids and they were attentive and patient...

Very disappointed experiences: - Unauthentic Thai cuisine: no sticky rice, no Thai milk tea - Juice tastes exactly the same like Asda juice cartons - The waitress looked unhappy and tired. Very nice Thai restaurant just outside of the city center of Canterbury. The Thai food we selected was superb, the dessert was a little bit disappointing. .. it came straight from the fridge....Tiramisu and Rocky was completely froozen. As mentioned earlier in the review the thai food was great ! The staff is very frienly and helpful.

The decor and staff were warm and welcoming on a cold evening. We ordered the mixed starters, which although looked promising lacked flavour (hence the 1 star drop) although the mains were lovely and therefore wouldn’t put us off from returning if in the area.

Lovely food, friendly attentive staff and great atmosphere. True Thai ambience, jasmine tea to die for, only little with I wish there was more prawns in the Pad Thai and also missed the cashew nuts that it usually has on top, but honestly that minor....
