I love coming here! Best thing about this place is the 2 for 1 mocktails! The staff are always kind and super friendly! My experience at Bananatree restaurant was fantastic. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff. The ambiance was inviting, and the decor created a pleasant atmosphere. The service provided by the waitstaff, especially Zainab, was exceptional. She was attentive, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations that suited my preferences perfectly. The food was delicious and well-presented, exceeding my expectations. Overall, dining at Bananatree was a delightful experience, and I look forward to returning in the future.

Vamshi give us an excellent service

It seemed a good option to have a quick dinner before going to the theatre. The service was rather slow, we waited for drinks for almost 15 minutes (cocktails are very watered down) and 25 minutes for food. The food when arrived was ok.

Had another unforgettable dining experience at Banana Tree Islington. The atmosphere is always inviting and buzzing! The customer service is par excellence. I was served by the lovely Andreea who was superbly attentive throughout. From the time you are received and taken to your seat to the end of your dining experience you are completely attended to. Their flavours are also always on point. I fully recommend without reservation! I really enjoyed my three course experience tonight with my really good friend as we celebrate the start of spring I was served by the wonderful Shreeya who was attentive.and gave excellent service with a smile. She really made our experience unforgettable. Thanks Shreeya

Often come here for a quick eat after a show at Sadlers Wells. The food is reliable and reasonably priced, but on a recent visit the service was absolutely woeful. The restaurant was only about a quarter full, so it's not as if the staff were rushed off their feet. We asked for prawn crackers with our drinks when we ordered and they still hadn't appeared when the mains arrived. We had to ask for tap water 3 times. After receiving our bill, it took an eternity for a member of staff to come and take payment. This is really basic stuff... please get it sorted!

Arrivesd bout 1:30 was greeted in a friendly manner. restaurant was quiet and we could choose our table . Took a while to be served but once we did the waiter was friendly and attentive. Prawn starter and gyozas were very tasty. Ordered lime and mango chicken which was very tasty (although rice had a nasty clump in it which was probably not warmed through properly) Worse part of tapas dish was the beef - very tough. But everything else was tasty and cooked well. Recommended desert (rice pudding) li ed up to expectations and pandan pancakes were really good too. Would return again!

Really quick service, tasty food.

The food was 6.5/10, good value for money. The service was beyond poor. Had to ask to order and for the bill. No one checked if the food was ok. Drinks were very watered down and watched a tea we ordered sit for 10 minutes until it was brought to our table.

During our visit to the restaurant, Ahmed left a lasting impression. He was kind, courteous, and displayed a brilliant mind. His menu suggestions were excellent.

Ahmed received well.. atmosphere is good.. quality of food is awesome.

I’ve been a regular at this restaurant for some time. Unfortunately I can’t say I will be returning. I arrived before 6pm, For my booking and was seated. After 30 mins my companions had still not arrived. I then get a phone call from one of them saying they were calling from the restaurant! It turns out the young small Asian lady had seated them elsewhere, even though they gave her the booking details. When I asked her why they had been seated there, she shrugged her shoulders and said “I don’t know”… No apology given. Unfortunately she also took our orders: she didn’t check for allergies. She looked totally disinterested in serving us. My main meal did not look like the picture at all, the was no dipping sauce, so the salad was dry. We ordered drinks and this was “forgotten”, I had to ask where they were. Even after realising the mistake, there seemed to be no hurry to rectify the mistake: other drinks were made before ours finally arrived. We had not asked for the bill but our young Asian server, put it on the table without speaking & walked off without a word… there were other people still dining, so I am not sure why we were the only ones singled out for this treatment. This used to be a nice place to eat, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Not any more. Good bye Banana Tree Angel

I had been ordering take aways from Banana Tree for a couple of months while unwell, and the food was great, so a group of us came for my birthday. We really enjoyed one of the lychee 2 for 1 cocktails. I had laska starter and beef rendang for main - I thoroughly enjoyed both. Friends who have more experience of laksas said their's were very good, though not the best they'd had. My vegan friend loved her food, the morsel of vegan satay I tasted was excellent. At the end, the restaurant did the birthday thing - it was a lovely coconut sorbet with fresh fruit. Absolutely gorgeous! To me, it looked like they were very short staffed. However our waitress was amazingly efficient and charming. Atmosphere was nice, but noisy and cramped. Will 100% be returning. And getting more take aways.

Dear manager, you clearly need more stuff - laksa gets soggy during her long waiting on the kitchen counter. Endless waiting to be taken order and get the check. I was not inclined to bear your 12.5% service charge, sorry.

Dirty menu, told the waiter he might want to clean it… didn’t bother.. forgot to bring our starter, mojitos were the worst I’ve ever had, even 241 didn’t forgive at £13 each! Food ok but we both had acid reflux within a couple of hours. Insisted we pay the bill using the QR code, which auto adds 10% service which can’t be removed.. no idea how this place has a 4.5 rating.

We ordered 241 cocktails and they were shamelessly diluted with ice. You'd expect some form of ripping off but this was a different level. Don't order any cocktails. I ordered laksa soup as a main and I was expecting a velvety coconut soup. Again the soup had been diluted down and it was very watery. I've had this soup before so I knew what I could expect. This wasn't it. In general a bit disappointed because this place had a high score. It makes me wonder if Londoners know what it is to eat out without getting ripped off. The service was not very awake. We had to call to get our starters plates removed after 10min waiting and our table hadn't been cleaned when we arrived

Came here for an impromptu lunch with friends. It wasn't very busy at all so getting a table for 3 was quick. Staff were friendly and service was relatively quick. Food also came out fairly quickly. The portions are quite big which reflects the prices as it's not that cheap. I ordered the prawn kari which was nice. Not sure how authentic the dishes are, so wouldn't necessarily recommend if you're looking for very authentic Asian food.

Place was understaffed, disorganised & staff are stressed out, not very welcoming, needs a decent manager. Told kitchen was closing in an hour almost to turn us away. Pad Thai & Nadi Goreng was pretty ordinary, the Indo bbq Chicken good otherwise would have given 1 star, will never go back.

Wonderful food and suberb ambience. I booked this restaurant for a long overdue catch up with some friends. We loved all the food we ordered and the drinks were fantastic. Our waitress Sai was absolutely fantastic and really looked after us.Thank you we will return again no doubt.

It’s an excellent setting and friendly staff. Food is great and best fusion of Asian Cusine. I am a frequent visitor but never got disappointed.

Ahmed has been an absolute gem, so patient and accepting of us parents needing shelter from the cold weather with our kids. The children were able to draw with the kits provided and they are absolutely star at accommodating us! Food was nice too, and we had been acme to enjoy kid eat for free for every adult main ordered. Always a safe choice, never disappointed by the flavours. The price is reasonable as the portions are generous. Alcohol is served but all the food is halal.

banana tree is always a lovely place to eat at in my experience, good food and great customer service. was my first time at the islington location and Ahmed was lovely, there was a long ish wait for a table (around 30-45 minutes as it was rush hour which was to be expected) but he was lovely at keeping me updated when a table would be ready. great vegan food and cocktails. overall would recommend!

I would rate my meal as excellent value for money, due to the great portion sizes, high quality taste and low price. Based on this experience, I would highly recommend Banana Tree to people I know, due to how great value for money the delicious food was, alongside extremely friendly and efficient staff and management like Ahmed. Delicious food and drinks, served speedily even though it was during the evening rush. Only reduced a star on atmosphere because the cold January air wafted around whenever someone went through the front door. Maybe needs an extra air heater by the door?
