Loved the music, attentive service and short wait times for food. Lots and lots of vegetarian options and the staff made excellent recommendations on food I had never had before. The chili fried idly is highly recommended by me, it was absolutely stunning!!!

The food here is extremely disappointing. Their fried rice, paneer curry, and other dishes seem to be thrown together without any real effort or authenticity. For example, when I ordered palak paneer, it was obvious that they had simply mixed some spinach into their regular paneer masala, which was quite easy to tell apart. Initially, I thought this was just a one-off issue, but today's order confirmed otherwise. The fried rice and curry I received were a complete mess—essentially a basic vegetable pulao with some oil added, passed off as fried rice. While I understand that running a business comes with its challenges, as customers, we expect food with an authentic taste and quality that matches the price. Unfortunately, this place falls short on both fronts. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Very good food, Egg Kothu Paratha and Masala Dosa was great. Extremely budget friendly as well!

Love the food but hate your delivery guy. He kept lying to me. Food was on time but he was a nightmare. Spent 15 - 30 mins just to get my food from the guy. He called me to tell me to come out of my house (all he did was shout food food when i picked up his call). Then he lied about not being able to come to my house as he said the road was blocked and no one could get in, which was an obvious lie, other cars drove by fine. Then he said he was near my house several times and when i spent 10 mins walking around trying to find him, he said he was somewhere else. He then told me to come get the food from him. No explanation or apology, he just told me to come find him and get the food. Had to walk a few blocks to try to find him and suprise surprise, he wasnt even there. He was somewhere else so i had to find a second different place and wait for him to come there in his car. When i confronted him about the lying he just brushed it off.

Today I experienced Banana Leaf at Swansea. I'm an Indian guy, so I came here for my studies in the UK. Our family has considered experimenting with food options beyond Indian cuisine. Normally we use cooking as a traditional way of avoiding outside food quality; we only prefer good, hygienic, and good-quality food outside in our place itself. Seriously, I'm disappointed that I'm asking about the taste of the South Indian style I ordered today. The provided items consist of heated frozen food, with the only gravy being the one they mentioned, despite its slight variations. Why should we wait for fresh food at the hotel? Also, it's acceptable to have tasty food. Indeed, Banana Leaf—Swansea is revolutionising the Indian food industry and the art of cooking. To be honest, their approach to food decorating was nothing special. We used to avoid frozen food because our culture typically values freshly prepared food. People in other countries also expect businesses to operate similarly. I can assure you that this individual was operating under the guise of promoting South Indian cuisine, promising to deliver high-quality food to those who enjoy it. However, they failed to uphold the true essence of preparing high-quality food. Please avoid those who love South Indian food; don't try Banana Leaf in Swansea. It will negatively impact both your health and the health of your children. Foods such as dosa and briyani require a specific preparation process for optimal productivity. Normal of making doing business means one that specific food instantaneously prepared means that they can run for the business other items while they are populating and doing the business. If you specifically mean that it's a business strategy, then the hotel industry fits the bill. This individual is not conducting business for the sake of making money, but rather for the purpose of promoting high-quality service. Spoiling the South Indian business strategy I called my friends and told them about today. I experienced Banana Leaf at Swansea. One guy was working as a helper cook. He revealed to me that they stored excess food for a week before making adjustments and reorganising the business. They never think about the quality. It was shocking and spoiling the food industry down, especially the South Indian food industry. Because of this guy, other South Indian industries are also spoiling. Knowing and having poison is okay; not knowing and having it is not acceptable. Be aware of Banana Leaf at Swansea. I don't know how many reviews the restaurant has received, 4+, but I thought about trying their dosa and Biyani, fried rice mixed with hometown business provided here for a new taste of their internal business; it might be high impact. Other than that, there's nothing particularly noteworthy about this restaurant.

A lovely, friendly place that serves the most amazing food at a very reasonable price! Good vegan options and knowledge too. Definitely recommend.

I visited Banana Leaf yesterday and had an amazing dining experience. We ordered Kothu Paratha, Sambar Vada, and Curd Vada, and everything was delicious. The Special Banana Leaf Kothu Parotta was outstanding—the paratha was minced perfectly, and the combination of chicken, prawn, and lamb was incredibly flavorful. The Curd Vada and Sambar Vada were equally impressive. The vada was crispy, perfectly shaped, and paired wonderfully with the sambar, which was so delicious that I’m honestly at a loss for words. The restaurant's ambiance was enjoyable, and the service was excellent. The staffs were attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. I highly recommend Banana Leaf to anyone looking for delicious food and great service.

The hygiene level is not good . The staff is just doing their work they don’t have manners to talk with customers.

It’s very awful , they even don’t know about the rating of their hygiene rating . The hygiene rating is not good when we asked before ordering the manager telling us story which is not in a manner , rude manager , time waste .

I had the worst experience ever. I inquired about the hygiene standards, but the staff had no knowledge of it. When I asked about vegetarian options, the manager told us that they cook everything in the same utensils, and that all other stores do the same. It was clear that they were not concerned about allergies. His response was quite rude, and it felt like he was indirectly asking us to leave.

Banana Leaf is an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic vegetarian food. I tried the idly and Vada, and both were amazing. The idly was soft and fresh, and the Vada was crispy and delicious. The service was quick, and the staff were friendly, making the experience even better. The ambiance is clean and cozy, ideal for a relaxed meal. If you're a fan of traditional vegetarian delicacies, Banana Leaf is a must-visit.

Had a great meal, excellent in every way.

FIrst visited in Jan 2024 and recently visited this week for a fifth time. Never had any issues with food or service even when busy, prices are really good compared to other restaurants in the city. This time I had fish cutlets and egg hopper for starters followed by chicken Chettinadu curry with a parotta bread, amazing flavours and textures. Curry was very hot, very close to my limit but heat level can be toned down upon request. I'd highly.recommend a kothu or a dosai dish if you want to try something that most Indian restaurants don't have. Loads of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu if that's your thing. Bad reviews mostly seem to be based on take away orders delivered, you won't get the best from the food here if you have it delivered.

It's been an hour since I've placed my order. Even the estimated time shown on the app has been timed out. I ordered other food after placing this order, and it arrived before the estimated time on Uber. Poor delivery service. My always go-to place is banana leaf and I'm completely disappointed with the service. I still haven't received my order. I'm running late already for my shift this evening. I believe uber is much better when compared to just eat.

An unexpected and unplanned birthday visit which turned out to be a brilliant quirk of fate. We visited on a Saturday teatime and were pleased to be quickly seated amongst the numerous already reserved tables. The restaurant quickly filled up. Our mini masala dosas starters were delicious, complimented by the fresh coconut chutney, tomato chutney and bowl of perfectly balanced spicy sambar. My main of Kerala chicken chetinad curry was really tasty with chicken sitting a lovely, fragrant gravy with hints of curry leaves and star anise. My partner's Malabar chicken was also delicious. They were accompanied by perfectly cooked, fragrant jeera rice and a parotta. We can't wait to return.

The chicken biryani at Banana Leaf is one of the best I’ve had in London. The spices were perfect, and the portion size was just right. The ambiance made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

First time ordering from banana leaf, I've heard only good things and they did not disappoint. Most authentic South Asian food in Swansea, we ordered gobi manchurian, chicken 65, chicken kotha and mutton biryani. Ordered the green chutney which was just delightful. Will definitely be ordering again.

Sadly the food was not as described. We were looking forward to tasting vibrant, fresh, spiced curries. One of them was described as being made with coriander, tomatoes, delicious spices, itwas a thick heavy v. v.hot brown sauce. (Meat was tender)

Wow….first time at Banana Leaf and the experience was great. We were a group of four and everyone had a beautiful meal. The staff were very polite and helpful and the restaurant was lovely and clean. The star of the show was definitely the food and will definitely be going back there. Would highly recommend.

One of the very very very decent Indian food in the UK. Really enjoyed the food. It's was really good. No disappointment at all. Service was good and fast. They have a long range of menu and they prepared evening we ordered and all of the dishes was tastes good and medium spicy. I would really recommend this place and will go back if I come back to Swansea anytime.

Decided to try a takeaway, had a chicken Korma, was spicy for a Korma but absolutely delicious, definitely going back there.

Food and atmosphere is good. Delivery guys are rude, restaurant called up to justify this, I don't understand why I have to listen to this.

For sure a favourite of ours in Swansea! Wonderful food that reminds me of my family’s cooking and friendly staff that make you feel more than welcome. We’ve been regulars for about 2 years now and have never been disappointed :)

This place turned out to be a big surprise. We went there without a reservation, but the staff were kind enough to accommodate us. The food was tasty and also reasonably priced. We left the place with a nice feeling and will definitely come back again when we visit Swansea again. Definitely recommend this place for Srilankan/South Indian cuisine.

Beautiful food! I didn’t realise how far away they were from the place we were staying but they delivered great food. Lovely chicken peppercorn curry and king prawn korma. Polite and nice driver. Gorgeous flavoured food and if we’re down Mumbles again, we would order again!

Good South Indian food. Paneer curry with pilau rice is a must try. We tried vegetable kothu, jeera rice, paneer curry, roti and pilav rice. The quantity was satisfactory.

The best southindian shop in Swansea ,for a nice family and friends hangouts. Authentic taste in all dishes . They serve both veg and non veg dishes with awesome taste. Tried Mysore masala dosa and onion oothappam; and both were awesome . Nice ambience , good friendly polite staff.Quick service in style. Idli sambhar just made us feel we r back home.Masala tea tried was also above avaerage. They have renewed the interiors and the menu. Tried chicken koth porotta , idiyappam chicken koth, and were awesome and heavy

Delicious food. Distinctive flavours.

Tried Dosa at this place and was really disappointed. The Mysore masal dosa was sub standard. The Sambar was bland and just tasted like hot water, the worst sambar I tasted in the UK. Chutneys were ok . Will give it a try again in future avoiding Dosa. They said the Welsh people like the Bland taste so the restaurant is preparing like that.

Our experience at the restaurant, advertised for its "authentic Sri Lankan and South Indian cuisine," left much to be desired. Despite our anticipation, the food failed to deliver on its promise. As a group of six, we ventured to explore the flavors of both Sri Lankan and South Indian cuisines, only to find that aside from the 'Koththu Rotti', nothing on the menu truly represented either culinary tradition. Opting for dishes like the Chettinad fish Curry, Sri Lankan style Chicken curry, and Kadaai chicken, we were met with disappointment. Each dish seemed to share a common, overly sweet base, lacking the distinct spices and flavors that characterize authentic South Asian cuisine. Despite our disappointment, when we sought an explanation for the deviation from the promised authenticity, our concerns were brushed aside. At a hefty price of £82 pounds for our meal, we couldn't help but feel we would have been better off dining elsewhere, perhaps at a reliable spot like Nandos where we could have enjoyed a satisfying meal without disappointment. Overall, our experience fell short of expectations, leaving us longing for the flavors and authenticity we had hoped for. Our visit : 07of April 2024.

Had a takeaway and delivery from banana leaf and was disappointed with the meal that was given to us. Expectations was high looking at reviews but food was poor.

We didn’t have a reservation but were able to be squeezed in. We saw a lot of people get turned away though so reservations are advised. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. All of it was incredibly tasty and well prepared. The portions were ample and we ended up taking a lot home. I personally really enjoyed the egg hopper mutton Sri Lankan curry and the potato curry. Be warned - there are no spice levels on the food. As someone who considers myself good with spice I found one dish too hot for me. They’re super friendly so just make sure to ask before you order if you’re not sure. All in all we had a lovely time and will definitely be back.

Worst service ever! I had a problem with uber eats and they couldn’t contact me and when I called the restaurant, the restaurant person was so rude and yelled at me and treated me really badly. I decided to never order from this place again! WORST SERVICE EVER. quantity of the food is much lesser than what you pay for as well.

The delivery was late and the food was cold. It's the delivery driver's service which I don't appreciate.

Visited as part of a large group having attended a function during the day. Due to the size of the group (40 of us!) they had asked us to pre-order meals, which we did. Staff had a copy of the spreadsheet of orders (as did our group leader) to make sure all orders got brought out to the right people. Food was aboslutely gorgeous. Best Biryani I've ever tasted. Some interesting other meals, all of which our group thoroughly enjoyed.

My veggie partner was amazed to have almost as much choice on the menu as me rather than the usual token menu items that tend to be the same thing over and over. That doesn't mean there was any shortage of choice for me! The food was also really good, quite different to anything we've had elsewhere, but without resorting to strange ingredients where you've no idea what they are! We had Dosai (as shown in the picture) and it was great. Service was also great, the restaurant is much more lovely inside than the area of Swansea it's situated in and if we're ever back in town it will certainly be on our list of To-Dos. If there's a veggie in your group then this really is one of the best choices going!

Just had the worst experience, have visited multiple times earlier but this time was worst. I had ordered egg kothu Paratha and found egg shell, when I informed the manager he literally used his hands and removed it from my plate and passed a comment it's common to find a egg shell in this kind of dish. On top of that he gave a chicken gravy with egg kothu Paratha ( I am a eggeterian).

What a fantastic restaurant. The menu was full of delicious options, we each ordered different dishes with the intention of sharing and every dish was a hit. Very flavoursome, and the mutton, which I am not usually a fan of, was so good I stole the last morsel off my Dads plate! The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had a very special evening here. Enjoyed food everytime I have been here

Always been ordering online. Just wanted to have food in the restaurant and experience it. The place was quiet free and only 4 tables were occupied. The food was excellent and was made just as we wanted it. The young girl who hosted us was really sweet, helpful and welcoming. She even suggested us the dish and explained why it's different from others. The one star for the service is given for the other guy (bald head) who kept us creeping the whole time. Only thing that bothered me is, he visited every table to check on them except for ours. May be because we were brown and the other tables were not brown or could be some bizarre reason. Overall it was an unpleasant experience and would warn others before visiting the place.

Me and my family came to this restaurant and it exceeded all expectations and more. The service was impeccable and the staff was easy to communicate and quick at their jobs. The food was amazing. The descriptions on the menu are exactly what they say, and the atmosphere was true Sri Lankan/South Indian culture.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. The food was so flavoursome and fresh. The service was swift and although a mistake was made with our order it was swiftly rectified. We went on a Monday night and it was testement to the success of the restaurant that it was almost completely full. We will certainly return.

korma a little sweet but really tasty

Food arrived quickly after ordering, and what a taste sensation it was. Have eaten Indian food for many years but never tried South Indian cuisine. Generally spicier and hotter but so much flavour. Never had a curry in a crepe served with a side of lentil soup but it was very satisfying. Staff were very helpful and happy to explain everything on the menu. Will be returning very soon.

Went here for dinner yesterday evening and I must say that the food was outstanding. The portions were very generous and the prices very reasonable in comparison to other Indian restaurants in Swansea. Many vegan options too which I was delighted to see. The type of cuisine they offer was familiar but different in comparison to other traditional western style Indian restaurants which I found very refreshing. The curry I ordered (Channa Masala) was probably one of the best curries I've ever had. I will definitely be returning.

First visit and we will definitely be going back. We had a selection of starters, all great but the cauliflower the star of starters. We had selection of mains. 2 Vegan diners in our party and they were spoilt for choice . Restaurant very clean, staff helpful. Not surprised they were busy.
