Recently moved back near to Southwell. Was always a reasonable takeaway, not wonderful but well priced for what you get. Tonight we had a takeaway and it was appalling, never again. Longer trip to Ka Ho from now on

Absolutely beautiful food. I have been coming here for 20 years and it never disappoints. But I am gutted that they no longer open as a restaurant, please bring the restaurant back!

Bamboo Garden continues to be a great Take Away. Their Singapore Noodles and their mixed-Meat Special Curry are two of our favourites as well as Duck with Ginger and Spring Onion. Prices continue to be value-for-money, and the Staff are super friendly. Long may you continue.

Great food but can’t cater for vegetarian , always find meat (chicken?) in the plain chow mein, horrifying for a vegetarian.

Lovely food every time. Another takeaway tonight from bamboo - one of the set meals for 3 which just about feeds 4 of us (the rice is what struggles to stretch to 4). Nice flavours, good service and ready quickly. We use Bamboo about once a month and really enjoy the food.

Having lived locally for years I have ordered from the bamboo gardens on many, many occasion. I can honestly say it’s the best Chinese takeaway consistently. I have tried other places that are highly rated, over the years but this one stands out by far. It’s a huge credit to the local community of southwell and surrounding areas. Brilliant.

Ordered 3 items. Two were not what I ordered. Then the owner tried to convince me that pineapple chicken was lemon chicken because the pineapple chicken had a slice of lemon on top. No excuse. Stay away.

Food was tasty , freshly prepared and hot. Easy to order with lots of choice . Seemed busier than normal.

Our favourite Chinese. Another takeaway tonight and fantastic again. King prawn with garlic is superb and now a favourite. Lemon chicken is a favourite for our youngest and is a huge portion. Never have to wait long to collect. Not the cheapest but well worth it for a treat.

We ordered our takeaway to collect, and were given a time to come by and pick it up. Lots of ventilation in the restaurant with the door open, so it felt safe, and food was ready right on time. All very fresh, hot, yummy! The Chicken chow mein was great. I really enjoyed my curry too, and the salt and pepper squid. Prices seemed a little high on some dishes, but then the salt and pepper squid was a very large tub, so good value in the end.

Visited the Bamboo Garden twice during our stay in the area and the restaurant was full both nights. So we ended up having takeaway on both occasions. Very good food, served hot & fresh; with good service. Very, very busy for both the restaurant & the takeaway service. Make sure you book in advance.

We took a chance on this place early on a Friday evening, and were amazed to get the last available table. Many of the patrons, both dining in and taking away, seemed to be regulars who knew they were on to a good thing. Very speedy service, and large portions of tasty food - it hit the spot.

We were in Southwell for a two night stay and came here on our second night. Wish we'd done so on the first night too. Absolutely delicious food. We both cleared our plates. Very prompt service and very reasonable prices. If we're ever back in the area we'll definitely be back.

Disappointing experience. Haven’t been here for years. Decor hasn’t changed - food certainly has. Not brilliant.

You can’t go wrong with this restaurant family run for years you get more then you can eat but don’t worry they pack what you leave for you to let home , great food always hot never warm, plates are warmed ,alway ready to serve you love love it. They also to take away.

We have been a customer for 25 years+ but was very disappointed with the Cantonese s/s chicken being Luke warm !!! The manager took it away and 2 minutes later returned with the same chicken again Luke warm which we didn't eat .very dissatisfied and will not go again now .VERY SAD AFTER 25 YEARS OF CUSTOM.

I was staying with my sister and her partner in Southwell and they treated me to dinner at the Bamboo Garden. Such a cosy little Restaurant with beautiful food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. I absolutely loved it and hope to return again when I’m next in Southwell.

Not sure what anybody is talking about, this is the best. Friendly staff, great service, reasonably priced, great choices on the menu. Hot delicious food time and time again. Takeaway is fantastic service also. A must try.

Had take away to go to friends with. As usual very tasty food and plenty if it. Great ribs. Its the place to go knowing the food is fresh and well cooked. Consistent quality.

Service was good & the speed of the food delivered to the table was very good, but disopointed with the food. I love spicy pork wrapped in lettuce leaf but it was bland. The spare ribs were nothing to write home about.The crispy duck and sweat & sour prawn were very good. Must say that the Prawn toast was excellent

This Chinese restaurant is situated on the main road just as you approach Southwell from Nottingham opposite the Minster. The food is excellent as well as the service the only possible downside is the decor which is not to a high standard. Take away service is also available. There is an option if eating in the restaurant for £14.50 where you get the choice of starters, main courses and tea or coffee. There is no designated parking for the restaurant but there is parking within walking distance.

I have eaten here for many years, but I have seen the chefs change, and sadly the food has become bland and flavourless, and prices have risen. The cooking is no better than an average takeaway at a quarter of the price. Shame as the cooking used to be very good in the past.

Have been coming here for 40 plus years and it always delivers on quality taste and price. Took our son to the restaurnt and all the dishes were superb. Love the BBQ ribs, so tasty. Plenty to eat. All super hot fresh and well cooked.

Regularly have a takeaway from the Bamboo Garden, consistently fab food. Always fast, efficient, friendly and attentive service. Have occasional meals in the restaurant too. Been visiting for over 30 years. Top marks all round

We stay in Southwell every few weeks and nearly always come here. To me, this is how Chinese restaurants used to be. Rather old fashioned decor, a bit cramped and very popular. The food is always good and the service is quick and efficient. Reasonable prices seal the deal but that is not the main point. Wish we had a Bamboo Garden clone near to us!

Had a takeaway, not impressed by its average but edible solution to Chinese food. It was prepared quickly which may be the cause of its lack lustre appearance. We won't be using them again.

Stuart had heard about the rowers evenings here and was treated to the full works of excellent service,super food ,drink and all at a reasonable price.As soon as we sat down drinks appeared with out orders based on our last visit although Stuart ordered Chinese larger.S3 menue as usual with crispy duck and a host of other dishes.The meal ended with coffee and a bill of £88.00 for four of us.A great night out yet again.

Myself and partner decided we would treat our selfs, as we had a child free evening which doesn't happen that often.

Excellent meal, more than enough food for everyone. We had a set meal for five, good selection of dishes and only had to wait ten minutes. Will be back for more.

John and the team provide great food at good prices. Can cater for certain food allegies just ask!!!

We were advised to visit here for a Chinese Takeaway while staying locally on holiday.the food was cooked quickly, the staff were friendly and it tasted delicious. Definitely worth a visit

Viajamos más de 15 millas de esta China y como familia hemos estado yendo durante casi 30 años. Todo el personal es muy amable y educado. Nunca hemos tenido una mala comida. Siempre tenemos un menú fijo con costillas y pato para comenzar. Las costillas son para morirse y el pato es delicioso. Siempre hay comida suficiente para el número de personas que pide para a diferencia de algunos chinos donde todavía hambre después. Los platos principales eran deliciosos. Las gambas ajo king son imprescindibles. Para 6 personas con bebidas la factura era £140 con propina. Volveremos pronto.

9 ex-remeros disfrutaron el menú de s3 con pato crujiente y ajo p; rawns - una excelente comida. Super servicio. bebidas a precios muy razonables. Nos atendieron muy bien. Ya tenemos ganas de mayo visita

Not the best Chinese I've ever eaten but by no means the worst. What you get is prompt, attentive service and very good value food. A set banquet for two with drinks came to a tad over £32 and was turned out piping hot within a few minutes. Will return.

Warned that the food in my hotel was not the best I tried my luck at the bamboo.can only say the hotel must be poor.average at best,ordinary food served in a drab reasturant with no atmosphere.staff functional.rids ok ,beef bland ,special rice not that special .not great

When you look at the blinds at the front and peer inside you are not sure what you are going to get. What a delightful surprise. The welcome is warm, the food is hot and authentic and the prices are very keen. Will return if in the area.

We had a takeaway rather than eating in but the food was good food but nothing spectacular. The service is good and they are lovely with children.

This place hasn't changed in the last decade. Pink walls... Crazy patterned carpet .. But it was without a doubt the tastiest Chinese meal I've had in a long time. Saturday night booking.. We ate over 2 hours. Leisurely meal, never waited even though it was incredibly busy with take always. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Delicious

this is a small restaurant, which we visited twice during the music festival, but they fitted us in, and the meal came very promptly. One dish was a bit poor, I thought, but the rest excellent, and none of that metallic after-taste you so often get from chinese take-aways. It's not gourmet - it's straightforward good food at a good price without waiting.

Have both eaten in and had a take away in here. The take away we had was really good and we both enjoyed the food so we decided to go back at a later date and eat in. The place was quite and not very busy apart from people ordering take away. We ordered a set menu of which they let us change a it as I couldn't eat everything on the menu. The food was pleasant although not the best Chinese that I have had. The spare ribs are a particular favourite of my in this place.

When we walked into bamboo gardens, we were directed to our table which wasn't far away as it is a very small restrauant. We then ordered our food and we got the duck pancakes with the set meal for 2. The food came fairly quickly and was lovely however the chilli beef wasn't up to the standard we would expect. We would definely revisit bamboo gardens however consider changing the chilli beef for something else. Kind regards G&J

I had heard some good reviews from friends, who had been to have a meal at this Restaurant.We decided to get a takeaway 1 night instead of our normal takeaway.It is not the cheapest around but the quality and portion sizes do reflect this.We only waited about 5 minutes and we were on our way with a box full of divine smells.We had one of the meals for 2 on our first visit and the meal for 4 on the second. We found this easier as the menu is so vast. Highly recommended for eating in or takeaway.

A typical fairly standard Chinese food was ok although my beef (in black bean sauce) was a bit chunky and my wife was given about a ton of noodles with her chicken chow mein. Service was friendly and a good busy atmosphere.

This restaurant has been in the same family for over 30 years and little has changed in all the years we have been eating at this restaurant. You always get good food at a realistic price and excellent staff to serve you, what more could you ask for.

Went here tonight with old school friends-we have been coming here for decades! The food is always excellent - it tastes fresh and not artificial. Crispy beef is crispy and you can taste the beef...unlike many I have eaten. Friendly service with the personal touch.The decor has changed very little over the years - but we go for the food and the service. Plus it is great value for money.

Have always been happy with the quality of food and have eaten and and taken away. Tonight my son was eating crispy beef and found a staple hidden inside it. He was eating it from the bag so was not contaminated at home. I phoned the restaurant straight away but all I got was "I will tell the manager". No apology or anything. Please train staff to deal with complaints effectively too avoid further action being taken by customers.

Nice welcome...Explained I need gluten free food and the ladies went into the kitchen and checked my options.. The other lads had a set menu..my starter was great ribs and main chicken was lovely..we all enjoyed our meal and it was good value to..Nice people making every effort to be helpful.. I have been going to this place for years. The staff decor and thank god the food hadn't changed. I've yet to find another Chinese as good as this one and I've ate a few. Best dish for me from this place has to be the chilli beef no other place compares. As long as this place keeps as it is they won't be going wrong❤️❤️

Old school Chinese restaurant. Don't be put off by the dated decor, this place served high quality food at very reasonable prices with friendly and efficient service. It deserved to be busier on a Saturday night but was doing a brisk trade in take aways. We will be back!

Been coming to Bamboo Garden for over 2 Decades Now! Never had a bad meal here yet and always been good. Restaurant and take away are both really good and worth a try.

This restaurant serves excellent Chines food either to eat in or to takeaway. The decor is a little old fashioned, but that is more than made up by the delicious food. I regularly get a family takeaway from the Bamboo Gardens and it is always promptly ready and well prepared. When eating in the sizzling dishes are perhaps the best.

The restaurant is not the most glamorous you will visit but the food is the best Chinese we have ever tasted. The service is friendly and smooth. We were recognised when we walked in which is lovely. The prices are very reasonable and we can't wait to visit again.

Lovely little Chinese restaurant in the heart of Southwell. When we walked in we thought the decor looked a little tired. The food however was very good, excellent value, great service nice cozy atmosphere. Clean plates all round. Loved the little turnips on each dish carved into little intricate flowers, a lovely touch.
