Made a visit here today whilst exploring the coastline. This in my humble opinion is not a tearoom but is a cafe, a nice clean cafe but never less a cafe is what it is. The facilities are clean and well maintained, it was lovely and warm when we came in from the cold. We sat very happily with our cups of tea. I ordered a full English breakfast and my other half only wanted a tea cake. The staff were friendly enough and served us quickly and politely. The food. My breakfast was the large and to be honest it was more like a medium sized one in other cafes. However the food was good quality and the black pudding was amazing . The views as you can see are stunning

This is the second time I've visited Balkenna Tea Room. The homemade cakes and sweets look good but as a diabetic I haven't tried them my wife says they ARE as good as they look. Soups are very good. Service is excellent and it's a friendly place with outstanding views.

Delicious lunch, with friendly and very efficient service. Lovely to discover a full page of vegetarian options, over the page from the carnivores' menu! Reasonably priced and portions certain to fill you up. Can definitely recommend the veggie burger - I usually find these too spicy (why do some veggie options feature so much spice??), but this was just perfect. Found on our way south, with lovely views towards Ailsa Craig. Definitely stop off if you're passing!

Called in here after a bracing dog walk at Girvan beach. The food was delicious, I had the large all day breakfast which was amazing and my wife had the tomato soup with toasted cheese and pickle sandwich which she said was the best tomato soup she had had. And not forgetting our dog who was welcomed and we were asked if we wanted a water bowl for her, they also cooked an extra sausage and served in her own bowl, overall excellent.

Poached eggs on toast was hot and delicious. Cheesecake was light and tasty but a little too sweet for my personal taste. Only one other table occupied so it was a bit quiet, but if more customers in I'm sure it would be buzzing. Decor functional but with a couple of tweaks it could look more homely, e.g. curtains and tablecloths. Manager's lovely personal collection of novelty teapots worth seeing. They also sell some jams, marmalade and chutneys.

Went on a small adventure to Coylton Arms Inn. I have to say we will be back, the food is very good, a well seasoned lasagna with plenty of herbs, nice béchamel sauce and a good salad and french fries. The only small criticism was the lack of staff which made the wait slightly longer than necessary. The staff themselves were extremely welcoming and the ambiance was charming without being twee. Portion size was good without being excessive. All in all an enjoyable experience that I would recommend for a pub lunch.
