The service was dire and the food awful…. Things were way over salted…the tea was flavourless… as about as an unpleasant an experience as I would assume prison to be like

We went for lunch there with our dog. Dogs aren’t allowed indoors in the café but the weather allowed us to sit outside. Ordered coffee and salad for lunch, which was devine. First bite send me to FOOD HEAVEN. So appreciative of people who made food with love, I almost was in disbelief how good it was. Finished it with gooseberry soda and the gooseberry frangipan which was exquisite. Can’t wait to go back!

Couldn't really read the menu on the board and all looked much fancier than I'd normally eat so ordered 2 different things for my daughter and I and honestly, I was blown away by both of them, so much so that I'm planning to go back next week and I live a 3 hour round trip from there. Kudos to this place!

This place is truly exceptional! Whoever creates the slightly unusual flavour combinations is a genius. On our foodie trip around Fife this is the best place so far. We ate the peppery sausage roll, the nduja focaccia and the mutton/rhubarb sandwich - all superb. Our takeaway teatime treats were yummy; the rhubarb amaretto biscuit was really peppery balanced by the sweetness of the rhubarb. Wow! This is not a run of the mill cafe, so don't go expecting a typical cafe menu and there are maybe not so many options for kids. But if you are looking for something a bit different then you need to try it for yourself.

Stumbled across Baerns after walking the coast trail. Coffee excellent and cakes were exceptional. Service was very slow (though staff did apologise) despite it not being very busy. Don't allow dogs inside but wasn't a problem as there was plenty seating outside and it was sunny and dry.

My friend and I went in for coffee and cake. It claims to be a bakery. There was very little available to eat, and nothing that I would want. The staff were very polite, but we had to wait half an hour for 2 americanos and a slice of bread. I really think that is totally unacceptable, and won’t be going back again

The building is great as is the fit our. It could do with an outer porch as very cold when the door was open. We picked the wrong table so go upstairs Be ready to queue for your order but my main complaint is what is to order? It was a cold rainy morning and no basics such as bacon or sausage rolls for breakfast. If you are opening for breakfast serve it! Had to settle for a very nice scone but served with a spiced butter but no jam in the restaurant Service slow. Coffee not special. They have huge potential as lots of friends there but needs a lot if work on the offering

Really great cafe and bakery. All the baked goods are made in traditional style. Nice space and lovely balcony. A little off the beaten track but worth it

This is one of Fife's best cafes, the food was superb, the bread and brioche out of this world and the Focaccia unbelievably good. We were so impressed we had to return for lunch. You will not be disappointed with this superb venue. Giacomo and staff were very helpful. I cherish memory of the wonderful bread we bought. Thanks to you all and good luck and warmest best wishes.

Lunch during the market weekend. Busy cafe but got a seat upstairs. Attentive service, food (3 focaccia sandwiches & 3 “sweet treats”) were superb. Felt quite sophisticated for a rural cafe.

Two and a half very small cups of tea from a teapot for two for £6. Ouch! Very nice tea but ridiculously expensive and only one scone left in the early afternoon.

Went to try to have lunch on a Friday (they're only open Thursday to Sunday 10 to 4) at 12.30. Although it was very quiet and the menu is very limited, a lot of items were unavailable. Even the orange soda was limited to one bottle and half a glass remaining. At 12.30!! It's a lovely spot and the waitress was very apologetic, but there is really no excuse for being so badly run. Goodness knows how bad it is at a busy time. What food we had was delicious, but we were very embarrassed that our guests' first choices from such a small menu were unavailable. And the menu is chalked on a blackboard, so why not rub out or score through what's not available to save the poor waitress having to apologise endlessly?

Having always enjoyed meals at The Doll’s House we imagined this was a mere name change, and were drawn in by the offer of a reasonably priced set menu all day Wednesday and Thursday. Inside the decor was smart enough and the waitress pleasant. However they were unaware of the set menu offer clearly advertised outside, and then said they’d still put our meal through at that price so long as we didn’t order anything expensive ! This wasn’t easy as five dishes were already sold out by 7.30, leaving little choice. The soups were ok, as was my deer, but my wife’s ratatouille was the most ridiculous item I’ve ever seen offered as main dish- three slices of undercooked courgette, a few tomatoes swimming in a watery sauce. We skipped desserts and were presented with a bill of £72, the manager having forgotten her promise. On appeal she applied a discount, but £58 was still very expensive for an experience that could charitably be described as poor. I’d steer well clear - there is no shortage of places to eat in St Andrews.

When the weather turns cold, shops closed, you don’t want a restaurant, just a cuppa, Alexander and George will make you welcome. Enticed by the chips! Feel much better now. Thanks guys!

What a venue !! Charming with a historical room to be seen to be believed (clipper room) ! I cannot say enough about the owners and staff who made me feel welcomed and could not do enough ! I was there for a music gig with friends and the music room venue was brilliant , atmospheric and intimate ! The hotel is in a lovely location with historical sites , coastal walks and a golf course nearby.

Tried to go along last few weekends for breakfast rolls. 3/4 attempted visits it has been shut or they have no breakfast items on/out of stock. Started very strong but quickly going downhill.
