This hotel is exceptionally clean, tidy and comfortable to stay at. The attention to detail was impeccable. The staff are so inviting, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place. The views are exquisite. We stayed in room 12. The breakfast was perfectly cooked, you can add or take items from the full English, and they also serve eggs Benedict. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the town and beach.

We ate in the restaurant during a stay at the hotel. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. The menu had interesting choices, including vegetarian and vegan. The service was relaxed and friendly. The decor is modern in a wonderfully old hotel. The views over Barmouth are stunning. Throughly recommend

We saw a few tables around us send food back or swap plates and not finish half the food, but as we were staying in the hotel (which is lovely, clean and has friendly staff) we thought we would try out the menu. The starters were ok, calamari and tomato bruschettas. Maybe they were a 3.5 out of 5. For my main, I went for steak, chips, mushrooms, tomatoes and salad. The waiter offered to get some sauces and I order mustard and ketchup. His attention was instantly taken by another customer and then another and then he clocked me looking over about 10 minutes later and realised he had forgotten. When he came to the table with the sauces I mentioned that the chips were overcooked and very greasy. He said he would fetch some fresher ones. They were a little better but still not edible. The mushroom was shrivelled up and greasy, the onion rings looked terrific but the oil went all over my face when eating it and the steak was 50% non-rendered fat. When I tried to comment on how the food was, I didn’t receive an apology so I then mentioned that the staff might be very busy or in training so I would understand it might be a one-off. This was taken to be offensive and the owner/manager got very defensive and didn’t want to hear any constructive feedback. The table next to us was served after we had finished and the lady didn't like her lamb burger and swapped her food for her husband as she didn’t want to cause a scene. 4 out of 7 tables served had problems and I just got told that they have 10 out of 10 reviews so don’t complain. On another note, the daytime staff and breakfast were amazing.

This hotel & restaurant far exceeded our expectations. It is dog friendly and run by a small team who cannot do enough for you. The views are stunning. There is a garden for walking the dog. The rooms are spacious with plenty of tea & coffee and it is clean. They have a spacious lounge with a bar and an open fire. It is up a big hill from the town so you need to be fit or have a car! The hotel itself is not suitable for wheelchair users or people who cannot manage steps. The food was beautiful and they have meals suitable for vegetarians and vegans. The food is all freshly made. They even gave the dog sausage for breakfast! I would recommend this hotel and I can’t wait to book my next trip.

We came upon the Bae Abermaw slightly by chance , as our usual favourites were booked up . Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor I thought we’d give it a go . What a find it was too . Sat up on the panorama looking over the mawddach the views are breath taking. We were greeted by Paige who looked after us for the evening and couldn’t have been more attentive. The menu looked lovely, with something for everyone. We decided to have a main and puddings and unless you have a enormous appetite two courses is enough. My wife and I both had the ribeye steak with all the trimmings and it was delicious. My daughter had the fish and chips , which was equally as tasty . All of the extras were freshly made and I doubt the microwave or freezer doors get opened very often . For puddings (which we’re huge) I had baked cheese cake , my wife had toffee apple pancakes and my daughter Homemade sticky toffee pudding. Again, you could tell they were all freshly made and the chef obviously takes great pride in their food . The bill was very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received and we shall definitely be returning. If you’re looking to be well fed with delicious fresh food , in lovely surroundings , look no further. Special mention to Paige who looked after us perfectly.

We were made to feel very welcome and the service was outstanding. Very friendly and approachable. Will definitely be returning and can definitely recommend.

Great food and a fantastic location looking over bay and estuary and out to sea. Food was good size portions and good value. The fish soup deserves a special mention as it's outstanding and worth going back for that alone! (I had it, my stepmother had it and my dad tried some and we all loved it!) Staff were very friendly from start to finish and the atmosphere was welcoming with no hint of stuffiness. Wine list was also good and really well priced... Only thing to give 4 rather than 5 was that duck was well cooked but I wouldn't have minded it a bit pinker and skin crisper. Plus we had to ask a couple of times to get waitresses attention. That said, this didn't affect our quality of night as they were so friendly however I appreciate some people can get upset by these things so I think it's worth stating.

This hotel is an old building, in the process of being repaired and upgraded. It is owned by 1 person and there seem to be a lot of younger folks running the front desk, manning the kitchen, waiting tables, etc. The time we spent there we had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and we loved the view. It was cold, raining, and windy so we spent most of our time in our room, the Wi-Fi was basically non-existent in the room, but was good in the common room. Our room was comfortable, and clean. The staff was friendly. The morning breakfast was filling and very good. We had dinner there on our 2nd night and we had the chicken pesto pasta. Good food.

For anyone used to staying in even modest accommodation this hotel is a disappointment. The room was poorly equipped, only one bedside light, clock not plugged in as there were not enough sockets, no phone which was needed as there was no mobile 'phone reception, single glazed windows and a view of the animal ravaged rubbish bags. And don't even think about mini bar/ fridge or air conditioning. The bedroom walls are paper thin which meant the next door residents conversation was perfectly audible. Obviously there was no lift and access from the car park and up to the room was difficult. Breakfast was appalling. We were given a one hour window in which to eat as there are not enough tables in the dining room to seat everyone and they only employ 1 waitress. Breakfast was delivered with the wrong order. Having been corrected it arrived back cold and inedible, the black pudding was like an ice hockey puck only not quite as pliable. On the plus side the wifi, available in the public rooms only, was good, the bar was quite well stocked and the lady who served me my drinks was pleasant and friendly. If you are desperate and decide to use this hotel despite this review do not even think about arriving early, they won't let you in until exactly 3pm. Oh and the price, we stayed in the 4* Hotel Sirmione on Lake Grada last month for less.

When we arrived we went into reception, which was empty, we rang the bell, nobody came, we kept ringing after 10 mins we decided to check ourselves in, we could see our booking details and Key behind the desk, we filled the form in and went to our room, we had pre booked a 6.45pm meal, at the specified time we went into the restaurant and waited 15 mins for a menu, we decided to miss the starter and have the main, we both chose the same one, so it wasn't a difficult order, it arrived at 5 past 8pm we chose lamb with roasted veg, there wasn't much lamb, and the roasted veg was a small portion of finely chopped onion, peppers courgettes, and potatoes, with no extra veg or potato, we had a sweet which again was a long wait, on the plus side, the room was clean and spacious, the shower was hot and powerful, the towels big and soft,, the staff were friendly, the views were great, the lounge bright and comfy, it was just the restaurant and reception that let it down, yesterday we asked for brown toast, we were told it would have to be white as they hadn't got any brown bread, apart from that the breakfast was fine, at check out today, once again there wasn't anyone on reception we put our bags in the car, and went back in, still nobody there and the bell had gone, in the end I went into the kitchen to find someone, the bill had to be adjusted as the restaurant had charged us twice for drinks,,, it's a lovely hotel, that just needs the reception and restaurant sorting.

This Hotel is in a nice location and Barmouth itself is well worth a visit, stunning village with very nice people. We booked for a 2 night weekend break. The breakfast was outstanding and compliments to the Chef. When booking we requested a sea view room and at £100.00 per night we would have expected this, on arrival we were given a room that had a view of a car park and shed, I asked if we could change rooms but was told this was not possible, I informed them that on booking I had requested a sea view but it looks like that was lost in translation somewhere. The room was very basic, no local information leaflets, no phone to reception and a television that would have been more apt in a caravan (a small van). Overall not good value for money

This started well with a warm and friendly greeting from Ash, who was helpful and personable throughout our stay. We were checked in and shown to our room. The room was bright and clean with high ceilings, huge bed, modern furniture and lovely view. The bathroom was also clean and white. Television and tea coffee facilities were good too. The reason I have marked the hotel down is that the carpets on the stairs and in the room were very worn and the floor tiles in the bathroom were in need of repair and regrout. Also no wifi in the rooms only public areas, The public lounges and bar were lovely though and drinks were served when you wanted them. We did not eat here as we had other plans so can't comment on the food although the menu for evening meal looked nice. This feels like a place where with a bit more money and time could be really good - new signage for the car park would give a better first impression. The gardens were lovely and some family items provided and lots of places to sit. The hotel was quiet overnight and we slept well.Overall a good place in need of further refurbishment but worth staying at.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced .
