We stopped in before a dog walk and received a very warm welcome. The pub is stylish and cosy. We ordered muscles to share, huge portion very tasty. Followed up with salmon for me and ham egg and chips for my friend equally delicious Would highly recommend.

An out in the sticks pub but had good reviews on TripAdvisor, we were staying 5 miles away and thought it's worth going. Outside nothing to be impressed with, but the kicker was to get past who I assumed were locals and dog sitting in the entrance which did not lend itself to be welcoming. We got seated in a corner away from other diners but not a problem I guess. Ordered drinks and the menus arrived. When looking on line the menu looked ok, but there were three dishes unavailable, two of which we had already planned in having. But, there were other second choices. The place seemed to have a fair few people and passing trade, after 20 minutes of waiting for someone to come for our order we decided to drink up and go elsewhere.

We have just returned from spending 2 nights at Badgers with another couple. From reception to checking out we enjoyed the friendly welcome from Jules and all her colleagues. Badgers was chosen for its proximity to Petworth House and because it offered restaurant dining on Sunday and Monday evenings. Our choice proved to be an excellent one. The bedrooms are large and, like the pub, eclectically decorated in the owner’s unique style. The rooms have a small fridge with fresh milk, orange and water and there is a Nespresso machine and capsules. The rooms also reflect the age and history of the building with floors that slope. Rest is assured due to the contemporary double glazed windows and heavy curtains. We were there on the 2 hottest days of the year so being able to have afternoon and evening drinks at the tables in the gardens and watch the fountain was a real benefit. There is plenty of off street parking (the white lines were repainted during our stay !) The Hip Hop pale ale was well conditioned and the Pimms & Prosecco enhanced the summer vibe. The bar and the restaurant were busy with regulars and other visitors. The excellent food was cooked, presented and served by experienced staff, from the “full English” breakfast to great sea food options. We discovered the adjacent Coultershaw Beam Pump via a riverside footpath and were fortunate to go there on the Sunday when it is open to visitors through a group of dedicated volunteers. There was a heritage crafts event taking place there too. Only a 10 minute drive away is Petworth House National Trust site with extensive parkland and marvellous artworks by Turner, Van Dyck, Gainsborough, William Blake, Titian, Hieronymus Bosch and many others, with a cafe and shop to fill any spare moments.

Lovely location! Beautiful Garden. Especially delightful in the late afternoon with the summer sun. Fantastic Food and Friendly Service. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff. This is an owner-owned establishment and not a surf & turf franchise, so you can be assured of accountability and high standards! Highly recommend this as a friendly local pub/restaurant.

A gem. Not that good looking outside but stylish and colourful inside. Good space between tables. On a warm and busy evening staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. Food and drink were excellent. Generous portions . 250ml of sauvignon at £8.20 is heading to the top end but overall cost was appropriate four our meal. Wouldn't hesitate to return if again in the area.

Had lunch at Badgers last week with a friend. Both of us had fish goujons which were very disappointing. There was very little fish but a huge amount of crispy and very greasy batter. I have eaten at Badgers many times and had good food but this was a real let down. We should have complained at the time.

My husband took me here for my birthday dinner & I had the tapas squid 🦑 for starters followed by the pheasant & omg totally delicious , pheasant itself cooked perfectly & the veg to perfection. My husband has tapas also , prawns & bacon & cheese croquette . The croquettes were just ok, possibly more bacon & potatoes & make bacon crispy. Mains he had the chicken madras curry which really had no flavour what do ever, disappointing. Perhaps the curry needs a bit more attention. Over all staff very polite & friendly as were the locals. I would recommend this charming pub most definitely & will return.

After visiting Petworth House on Friday we had lunch at Badgers and we were very glad we did. Lovely welcoming staff and delicious food with all the usual favourites plus a number of Spanish inspired options. I had the Zarzuela, a spiced seafood stew which was fab. The Apple pie and custard was great too! Interesting range of art on the walls including a booth with a risqué triptych. Would definitely come back when in the area.

Felt like unless your a local your not welcome. Considering we spent a lot of money the staff were very rather unwelcoming towards us. There was a nice looking garden however the lighting was poor and it seemed there was a river going round it but worryingly no warning sign and a bit of a drop with no lighting at the end I do worry if someone could fall in. A real shame as it is a lovely located pub so has great potential!

We walked in and purchased two drinks and went to find a place sit down. We were ashered away to the other side of the room, to a smaller room/cove. The wooden tables looked bleached white and looked clean. However they were sticky and flet like they needed a good clean. The staff seemed uncaring. A lady who was sat, at the bar. Possibly the landlady. Made no attention to move for my partner. Who was struggling to get by using her crutch. However on a good note. Other people seemed to have good communication with each other. From the sounds of there chatting sounded like local users to the place.

We had an evening meal in the Badgers as we were stay in the the Old Station next door. I am glad we booked a table as it was very busy, they had sold out of a few dishes but you know it's good food when this happens to the specials. I had the steak which was done to my liking, also the spicy chicken which was very nice, also and dessert which was a good size, and bottle of wine, all very good. The staff were very helpful and a good price.

Very nice roast lamb, roast potatoes, large Yorkie and a good selection of vegetables. Only 3 items available to choose from on the dessert menu was a bit disappointing. Nice beer and wine. Service was friendly and quick enough. Minor improvements they may wish to consider; food could be a little hotter, chairs more comfortable and something to create a bit of atmosphere in the restaurant eg background music.

The reasons for our stay were less than uplifting. We had to attend a family funeral. And the journey was too long for us to do in one day so my brother and sister and I stayed for one night. I’d love to come back and stay again under different circumstances. It’s an area of natural beauty and I had a sense of tranquility as I looked out in the fields with the sheep dotted in them. The staff were very friendly, very helpful. The rooms were welcoming and comfortable with everything that one might expect from a bed and breakfast room. We chose to have our evening meal at the inn too. I suppose my only criticism would be that as a vegetarian, there were very limited options. The food was delicious though, and I overindulged. We had a most enjoyable breakfast in the morning as well, served by the proprietor herself, who is charming. Parking was easy and free. The fact that on a Thursday night the restaurant was well patronised I think is a good indication of how good the establishment is. I hope I can return.

Far from the lunch we were hoping for. It wasn’t that busy, but for £18 a roast dinner should fill you up with tasty food. But we left hungry and didn’t stick around because we the quality just wasn’t there. If you serve filo pastry, don’t cover the plate in gravy. If you’re making a vegetable and cheese filling, Mix it. If you’re doing veg en masse, make sure the food is not so hard it can’t be swallowed

We stayed at Badgers this weekend (we've just unpacked). We had an absolutely lovely weekend. The Landlady and her staff were absolutely fabulous. Everybody was so, so friendly and very ,very capable. The pub seems to be very popular, which I totally understand, so I would suggest that if you want to eat there that you make sure that you pre-order book a table. The food was super. I had fish and chips. The batter was gloriously crisp and bubbly, the chips were fat and fluffy inside. I felt a strong desire to lick the plate when I'd finished my Banoffee pie. My mum opted for the lamb steak with mashed potato. I know that she enjoyed it because she scraped the little bone until it could surrender no more shreds of meat. Even I could see that her gravy was beautifully glossy. In fact what pleased my mum the most was that the gravy came in a gravy boat and the custard with her Bread and Butter pudding (which she loved) came in its own jug. What I would say is that as each meal is cooked to order so it can take some time to be served. As other reviewers have said the breakfasts are fabulous. I'm not a cooked breakfast person, but even I had the perfectly poached eggs on toast on both mornings. My mum opted for scrambled eggs on the first morning, she said that they were wonderfully creamy and had obviously been nowhere near a microwave! This morning she went for only three items from the Full Breakfast and yet her plate was still brimful. I'm sure you want to know what the three items were, well she tucked into perfectly cooked bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. A lovely stay, lovely staff, a lovely place. P.S check out the carved badgers around the bottom of the bar counter.

We were staying at the Old Railway Station down the road and thought the pub looked nice and we would try it for dinner. We sat outside and we’re seated in a cramped little patio area where they had also seated two other tables fairly...

The back garden of the pub is lovely with nice furniture and the staff were nice. However, the food was incredibly disappointing. We didn’t order the scampi or fish and chips but the chips and fish looked like they had been cooked from a frozen...

We got one here. Started with charcuterie, then dressed crab with salad. So good. Try the rhubarb gin.

Popped in for lunch following a walk to the Halnaker Windmill. Managed to get the last table available. I had the "lunchtime" size fish and chips with tartare sauce and mushy peas and my partner had the gammon, egg and chips. Both were very good. The "lunchtime" size fish and chips was a perfect size. My partner then had the crumble and ice cream and I had a mini version with custard and a flat white coffee. All very good too. Friendly staff and a great menu. A good selection of alcohol free beers. Definitely one to visit again when in the area, would book in advance.

We popped in without a reservation on a Saturday lunchtime and luckily they had a table for us. The pub was buzzing with happy people, clearly lots of locals too which is always a good sign. We had three courses - hadn’t planned to but the food was just soooo good! The prawn cocktail was the best we’ve ever had, and mains were delicious. OH had sea bass and I had lambs liver. Both served piping hot and with fresh veg. One of my main beefs is when food isn’t hot enough. Not so here, well done Berkeley Arms. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for too. We live 20 mins away but we’ll most definitely be back!

Very disappointed in my Scrambled egg on brown toast, the egg had no taste very pale done in the microwave, and water on my plate made my barely toasted toast wet and soggy. Great pleasant staff. Service good but unfortunately the breakfast was horrible.

We often visit this Greggs whilst shopping in Chichester as their sausage rolls are the best. As I don’t drink dairy milk, in the past I’ve always had soya in little cartons. My husband asked for oat milk (my favourite) and to my pleasant surprise Greggs now offer oat milk as an alternative. So my order was for an Americano with oat milk on the side. My husband also mentioned “on the side”. This is because I don’t take much so need to add it myself. So when the lady served an Americano with oat included (frothed up, yuk) (Since when does an Americano have warm frother milk in it?) I said, no I ordered oat milk on the side. Stroppy cow said she didn’t hear that (we said it twice) and that anyway they don’t serve oat milk on the side. So I’ve paid for a coffee that I can’t drink as it’s too milky. I really expected her to say “sorry madam, let me do another one for you”. I mean, for the sake of customer satisfaction, just pour it away and serve me what I’ve asked for! Is it too much to ask to have oat milk on the side? This is a first for us. Every other coffee establishment we visit serves it cold, and on the side when asked. She has no customer skills at all. A right stroppy cow. We were disgusted.

The friendliness of everyone especially the chef was outstanding. The food was simple but very good quality. The location was outstanding. Highly recommended and we will be sure to stop here again.
