Everything and more you want on a night out. Laughs constantly all night and audience interaction where ever you are seated is based on how loudly you can respond. It is all done in the best possible taste. The bar is lively and the comedians and staff are friendly, welcoming mix and socialise.

This was my first time at the backyard comedy club, Its situated conveniently close to Bethnal green tube station, and is fairly easy to access by road if you choose to drive, with parking bays across the road which are free to use at the weekend, and after 6pm on weekdays. We went on a Saturday night, for an 8pm show. You need yo arrive early enough to redeem your e-ticket if you booked in advance online, to avoid a late arrival charge (£3), and the potential for your ticket to be resold.. Standard stuff for a comedy club really, as we use other clubs with similar policies. We decided to have a few drinks and a bite to eat while we waited.. The food is average for bar food at best, with very limited range, and we found the drinks quite expensive, with a 330ml bottle of beer and a 500ml bottle of cider coming to £9.30. Again as expected when a venue has a captive audience, but worth keeping in mind if you're on a budget. Doors to the stage area opened on time and we went to take our seats, the layout was good, and noticeably less cramped than other clubs we've been to. The compere came on to warm the audience up and introduce the comedians. There were four acts that night, ranging from 'ok', to very funny, but the content is not part of my review as peoples taste in comedy will be varied. There were no big names on stage that night, but famous comedians do play the venue, those gigs can be found and booked via their website. We obtained our tickets via a friend with a promo code, but we have seen tickets available for as little as £5 when booking in advance, increasing to £10 as the show date gets closer. For the acts we saw, and the quality of the compere, the ticket price is good value for money. There's a good friendly vibe to the place, and we saw no trouble at all. In summary, Easy to get to. Good vibe and atmosphere. Mediocre food. Pricey drinks.. We would recommend the club to others, and will be going again, but we will eat out before we arrive, We certainly wouldn't go just to use the bar, or just for food.. Overall, we had a good evening and scored it accordingly..

Pre ordered food to have during the interval of a comedy gig. No one's food was ready and the system for collection was utterly chaotic. We had to stand for 25 minutes and wait, along with a dozen other people. No one even explained to us what the system was or why it was taking so long. We missed part of the show as a result. When the food arrived i was shocked to discover I'd paid £8.80 for a frozen oven pizza (complete with telltale dots on the bottom from the cardboard) rather than freshly prepared food. And the chips were not much better. I was tempted to ask for my money back but I just wanted to see the show I'd paid for and couldn't be bothered. Drinks were also overpriced. I wouldn't come here again. You'll find better quality at the takeaway Pizza Hut two doors down if you're desperate!

There is a bar at the front, then a comdey club behind, all underneath the Travelodge hotel. 2min walk from Bethnal Green tube station. I've seen some big acts at the comedy club & prices are excellent. Much better value than central London comedy clubs. If you join their mailing list, you will often get free tickets & discounts. Note that if you get free tickets, you must get your hand stamped before the cut off time (I think its 7 or 7:30). Food is ok for snacks, but not amazing & I certainly wouldn't go here just for dinner. Pizza, nachos, chips etc. The bar range isn't massive, but they do jugs, which is handy if you have a group going into comedy. Well worth a visit.

Popped in here as we were staying around the corner in the Travelodge. Nice bar, quite reasonably priced and good atmosphere. Table football and pool table, lots of seats. Nice bathroom too.

Was invited to a free comedy night as friends had obtained free tickets through a mailing list. Make sure you are on time otherwise a £3 late fee when picking up tickets (i.e. a stamp on the hand). All attending members need to be on site to collect tickets. Good selection of drinks.. Food includes pizzas, nachos, chips, onion rings etc. There are some tables within the comedy area however first in best dressed. Out at bar there is ping pong, pool table, foosball etc. Can take food into comedy show however must collect out in bar. Only real complaint - pizzas need to be cut all the way through since no plates (and basic cutlery) were offered with them. A mess could be made if not careful!

Visited the bar for a comedy night, having paid for my ticket online with half of the price raising money for a local charity. I was served immediately at the bar but a small bottle of ale set me back £4.20. When I reached the entrance for the theatre, I was abruptly asked my name by a security staff member despite have a printed ticket. Furthermore, as I arrived late, this incurred another £3.00 as a late arrival charge. I have never encountered such a surcharge before and I felt like I had been fleeced. Even when I said that I was attending the show in support of a charity this still did not cut any ice and I had to pay. Had I had been aware of this possible surcharge, I may not have booked my ticket on principle and donated to the charity directly. In the event, the so-called "comedians" that I saw ranged from dull to the downright disgusting and I write as someone with a broad mind. Needless to say, I didn't bother staying for the final acts. I then I went to drown my sorrows at the nearby Travel Lodge Hotel bar with a latte which was offered on the house by a friendly member of staff! Consolation for a disappointing night nearby. This was my first and last Backyard visit.

Our first visit for a comedy night, nice atmosphere in the bar, took a while to get served a drink at first, but was much better when the rest of the staff showed up. Beer is very good, food reasonably priced for London. Pizzas arrived quickly and were fresh and tasty, with good sides too. It is much better to have a small menu done well rather than a huge list of dishes, and they have nailed this. They did well on the night as a rowdy bunch on a stag night were dealt with quickly, so it didn't spoil every one else's night. We were comped tickets, and had been picked out at random for being on the mailing list.....it works, get your name down! A great night with Lee Hurst compère and three professional acts including Sean Meo, great room for comedy with nice timing of the evening and ample breaks to get drinks without interrupting the proceedings. Great bargain prices, £13 if you are paying for a Saturday Comedy night in London! To top it all had a quick chat and photo with Lee at the end, what a splendid chap he is! Will definitely return!

Backyard Comedy Club is a 5 minute walk from Bethnal Green Station. The venue is playfully decorated, and decked out with various games for entertainment to include a table tennis table. We visited on a Wednesday to see the Brainwash Club with Ellis & Rose as the host. Rose was absent and Ellis filled both roles. I am sorry to say Ellis was irritating and infantile, his suit looked like he was dragged backwards through a hedge (I also told him so). Being a Wednesday night it was quiet with maybe 16 people, and most of them were the comedians. The acts on the night: Next Best Thing, Timothy Valentine, Chazz Redhead, The Story Beast, Pat Cahill and Oliver Strong. I didn’t feel any of these acts tickled my spot, but I’ll look again at them in a few years. I had the nachos (with salsa, sour cream, and jalapenos) as a snack for £4.00. There are snacks available from £3.50 -£8.50).The website requires some more designing, from colours to simple things like the venue is available for hire but no pictures on the website (www.backyardbar.co.uk).Nice venue to hang with friends for a drink or two.

This is a really fun place. You walk in and they have couches on the periphery, board games by the door and a table tennis table towards the back of the room. There is a nice light airy atmosphere and it's a great place to go with friends and for a fun date. The drink selection is decent and the snacks aren't bad at all. I didn't intend to eat here but had a few snacks as I was feeling peckish. I would really recommend this place for somewhere alternative in the area. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and there is no pretentiousness here. There is a student bar type feel but the crowd here is nice and friendly.

I had a what I would call a "proper burger" which was very tasty, and good value. Staff were really friendly, couldn't do enough for us, we found out the place has only just reopened. From the experience I had there I'm sure it will be very successful.

We booked a table as a euro 2024 package to watch the England v Denmark game & were given a table where we could not see the TV. I asked the bar man if we could move & was told a flat no. There was zero effort or customer service. If they didn’t have room, they should have declined our booking & we could have gone elsewhere. The food was really average & the glass collector was rude when I tried to move seats so I could actually see the TV, told me I was blocking his way when I wasn’t. Overall really poor customer service and a grim experience. I would not recommend and won’t visit again. Definitely a pub to avoid!
