Babel Cafe & Restaurant in Hackney

We visited this venue to attend my sister's birthday party in the basement. The location is good and the venue was perfect for the number of guests and had a stage for the live music performances. The buffet provided was a good selection and we found plenty of things we enjoyed. Our only negative was there was no beer available, only lager and then one of the lagers ran out leaving only Stella which my husband doesn't like.

The food was very tasty and the guy who served me and my friend was super nice. I literally had a great experience there. Thank you guys so much and keep going with the great job!

Not been here since last year but this place continues to have a nice ambience. A warm welcome from the moment you enter, prompt table service and reasonable prices (no hiking to crazy levels). Quality food and good coffee, served piping hot (deserve a medal for that alone) You cant bottle what this place has. Chilled atmosphere, people chatting freely yet can hear yourself speak😊 Just wish it was around the corner. 10/10!!

We just stopped by for a couple of coffees. Having lived in Kenya which grows amazing coffee beans I am quite fussy and this was absolutely delicious. It was Kiss the Hippo carbon negative, just to add to the experience. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

I really like coffee and I’ve never tasted such a bad coffee in my life. They can’t make coffee. It was way too strong enough to give someone palpitations I couldn’t even drink it and I drink coffee all the time. The iced coffee was also £4.50. Your better off going Starbucks or anywhere else. Rip off and disgusting.

I walked past and the food looked really nice so I went in. The food and service were excellent. Their home made Vege sausage was really tasty. Food was fresh and just the right portion. Thank you

Food ok but mine not properly cooked. There was a short grey hair in my food. The coffee I asked for never came. The bread tasted slightly stale (Turkish bread never keeps long). My plate was left on the table and not removed by the staff for half an hour (they were chatting amongst themselves). Now my stomach hurts. Used to be much better. Other customers seemed happy though and it wouldn’t take much to make it better. I want it to succeed - it has the potential.

Longtime favourite in the area, food never disappoints and staff are always lovely. Recommend the falafel plate and the feta cheese parcels!

It's not often you get such friendly, warm service. The staff should be commended for how lovely and welcoming they are. On top of this, we also had a really tasty veggie breakfast beside big open windows. Prices are reasonable too. Can't wait to come back!

We had a drag show here with a "bottomless brunch". We were under the impression we got unlimited prosecco, it was some kind of bad wine with a ton of orange juice so we felt very sick after just a few. The vegan food they served as the whole show was vegan only was cold. It did not taste fresh and was very sparse. We actaully thoguht it was the appetizer before the main course. They could have easily done something up nice such as avacado toast, something warm. The dessert was extremely sweet and small but nice. The server was not very friendly. The drag show itself was a lot of fun but in comparison to London standards the restaurant experience was not. Disappointing.

We love the food here and the warm welcome we get even with kids and pushchair in tow..hope to be back soon

Nice place, we've tried mixed plate of tapas and falafel. All parts amazing! Free bottle of tapped water provided by seating. Really great hummus!!! Really nice experience

Went here for brunch. The full English is HUGE and tasty. Fresh juices are delicious too! The staff are wonderful, so hospitable you couldn’t not return!

We have had dinner here twice now and I’ve eaten brunch a few times too. On each occasion great food, lots of veggie and vegan options, high quality ingredients, subtle flavourings, variety of menu choices, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Would particularly recommend the menemen, smoothies, mantis main dish (a sort of stuffed Turkish pasta), mezze plate, borek and many more. Looking forward to working our way through the menu! Keep up the great ingredient quality and service guys!

We have visited the Babel in Istanbul and this sister cafe and both times we gave been incredibly impressed. We are both vegans and non vegans who love Turkish food and this is definitely one of our favourite restaurants. Cannot wait til our next visit...

I come here quite often. Food is great, especially menemens. They have smoothies and non alcoholic coctails which I really like. Never visited this place in evening, hut I saw they have live music often. What needs to be improved is service..it’s a bit slow...

Yesterday was my third time in Babel Cafe & Restaurant and I really love the atmosphere, friendly people and most importantly delicious, delicious, delicious Turkish food. You will receive each taste made with love all the way from Antioch/ South of Turkey.

The lovely family that runs the place has hospitality written in their DNA - you are greeted warmly, and feedback is very welcome. As a vegan, I'm biased in my appreciation of soups, salads and mezzes, a whole raft of which leave out animal products....

Looked busy inside so thought we’d have lunch here. Definitely correct decision! The menemes was delicious! Owner was also lovely! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy good Turkish food 👌🏽

I live in Stoke Newington and today have seen this newly opened cafe-restaurant and just popped in and given a try. I had Mezze Platter which was incredibly delicious. There are also many vegan options. Staff was so friendly. I strongly recommend it.
