First time in tonight. Friendly and helpful. Had John Smith's on which is a beer at least so although that would lose a star in a pub, here it was a bonus. Starters were Chicken Satay and Spring rolls. I found the spring rolls very average and the chicken satay was better but not exceptional. My main was Chicken in Black Bean Sauce which when mixed with rice and noodles was absolutely amazing. The Noodle side dish was probably my favourite thing as it was absolutely delicious with loads of flavour. Rice was ok but seemed more like a boiled than a fried, but it worked with the meals. Helen had Chicken Massaman which was deliciously tasty but lacked a little substance as it was very runny and had a lack of vegetables in it. Overall very good meal and I would certainly look forward to going again, whilst not being standout in every department. Having been back a few times and now having a clearer picture of which meals I like, we absolutely look forward to going here for a meal as it is absolutely amazing food and really friendly helpful staff. Recommended without reservation!

Excellent authentic food with great service. Without requesting they brought out birthday cake for one of the guests which was a thoughtful touch.

First time here last night for date night. It was beautiful, the manager was so helpful. We ordered a bottle of prosecco which was £20, but unfortunately they had ran out. So the manager Jane honoured the ordered matching it with 4 smaller bottles of prosecco which were meant to £32 for the 4, and only charged us £20. We haven't had thai before so needed a hand with the menu and there was plenty of advice from all the staff and recommendations. We ordered the steamed sea bass which takes a LONG time to cook so if you order it be prepared for a wait, but its absolutely worth the wait one of the best things we have ever tasted. Full meal was gorgeous! We will definitely be coming back regularly, slightly shocked this place is in Hartlepool 🤣

First visit and really enjoyed my food there, will call again when next in the area. 2nd visit here and wasn't disappointed. Best Thai food around with great friendly service and large servings.

We attended during happy hour and ordered off set menu which is approx. £15, we were then asked if we wanted "normal or large" (which we found strange) we clearly stated "normal". When the bill came it was £20 more than it should have been. When questioned the price, we were told that we had been given ala carte prices, which are apparently "large" portions, not the "normal" we asked for. My sister who eats here all the time said the portions we no larger than normal. I am not sure if this is a legitimate mistake or a post Covid scam to get lost revenue back.

We frequent this restaurant and I have cre viewed it before. We chose this restaurant for our first night out out after lockdown. We were not disappointed. We had the mixed starter for 2 and it was 1st class. My wife had the chicken massuman curry which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the the steamed sea bass and was transported to Thai heaven. Hot sweet sour and salty. The epitome of Thai cuisine. The restaurant is understated but the food isn’t. Best Thai food in Teesside by a country mile!

We have eaten in and the food was passable but unfortunately, not great. The take out was abysmal. I ordered the sweetcorn cakes for starters and they were bland, soggy and somehow chewy. For the main, I had red curry and they chicken was disgusting. I would love to know where they buy their chicken from as it was very cheap and lacked all taste.We will not return due to the very disappointing takeaway.

Our takeaway from here this evening was fabulous! We all had a different curry and each was super tasty and different! Also great veggie options for the vegetarian members of family! Will definitely be back to dine in when we can 😁😋

It would have been nice to eat here, but what restaurant accepts a booking only to call you back in 15 minutes to tell you they have a private booking for the whole restaurant. Hopefully a genuine mistake.

Birthday meal for my wife. Excellent service from our lovely server Jane. Beautiful food nicely presented. I had tempura prawns and then Three Taste chicken which was new to me and tasted absolutely wonderful, with a side of vegetable rice. My wife had ribs and then steak with pad see yui (may have spelt that wrong) noodlesm which she said was delicious. Overall a lovely evening.

Baan Thai 57.As today was my birthday my wife took me out to dinner and as such, I had a choice of any venue in Hartlepool, I chose Baan Thai. Our first excursion three was pleasant and the food quite delicious, our second visit exceed those expectations.The atmosphere was quiet, the lighting dripped with ferry lights giving the dining area a relaxed air, a quality I enjoy when I dine out not the hustle and bustle of fast food joints or greasy spoons that wish for your cash and you to scarf down the food as swiftly as possible and then leave no Baan Thai wishes you to enjoy your feast and at a pace that is better suited for healthy digestion.We had reserved our table and of course, it was there waiting for us and we were promptly sat down, our drink order taken by the most pleasant and delightful young lady named Jane. She gave us time to choose which dishes we liked and took careful notes of any food allergies we might have. I being allergic to shellfish of course could not partake of the prawn crackers as an appetizes thus, I was given a replacement of tempura vegetables and they were delightful little morsels.My starter was BBQ ribs: The aromatic meat fell off the bone and melted within the mouth. The texture was nearly perfected. Unlike those bought at any deli counter in a grocery store these ribs did not ooze grease, the marination had a gentle sweetness behind the tangy barbeque and the zing of chives and just the hint of sesame.Jane gave us just the right amount of time for our starters to settle and our pallets to rest before asking if we were ready for our main dishes to be started. Pad See Ewe with sirloin steak. The dish of course is a traditional Tai street food made quite the migration to a Tai restaurant in North East England. But one taste of it and one can understand why it is iconic. Baan Tai’s chief has made a wonderland of taste sensations in this simple dish. The noodles are coated with a dark sauce and cooked at high heat and mixed with Chinese broccoli, young kale, or something similar, I am not that well versed in my discerning tastes to know many vegetables outside western culture, nevertheless, it was a blend that was perfected. Under the soy souse was a slight smokey flavoring; I could taste the breath of the wok within the stakeThe drinks were mixed to near alchemical perfection and a nice complement to the overall dining experience.For a quiet night out, and delightful ambiance, to have a robust and yet delicate dining experience I highly recommend this quaint little restaurant nestled in Church Street.The staff are attentive without hovering and pleasant without the false bubbly service one might get in other restaurants. Had a lunch with family - great food - the yellow curry was delicious. Service was brilliant too. Bill for four of us with starters, mains and drinks came to under £40 ( and this was without Rishi Sunak chipping in)

Never been before and so pleased we did. Not a lot of curb appeal but comfortable and very welcoming inside, there is further dining upstairs. Busy night and again booked in advance. They didn’t have the price reduction offer but that didn’t matter as they have specials of three courses under £10. The waitresses we’re working very hard and did their best to keep the service flowing with great smiles on their faces. The food is excellent with great choices and combinations and even our own picks and changes weren’t any problems. There were 6 of us and our food arrived together and as ordered. Even though it was busy the staff sang happy birthday to my great niece and brought her a loverly desert platter. This made up for the slightly slow service but it was a busy night and didn’t dent our enjoyment. Would eat there again thanks to the ladies serving us they were great

Went with a party of 3. Was busy but we booked in the PM for that evening. Food was lovely, well presented and filling. Great tasting food and NOT the usual gloopy cornstarch thickened sauce in Chinese restaurants these days. I always think Thai food has so much more layers of flavour. Called in for a quick tea, been meaning to for a very long time. The decor and feel of the place is really nice and will for use again. Staff very friendly and attentive

A little restaurant with a great atmosphere and service really good. Ordered from the special menu which is a great deal for the food. I can assure you everything on my plate was cooked fresh.Having been to Thailand this food was as just as good if not better. Anyone who complains about this food don’t know good Thai food.I will certainly be back ... and you need to book a table by the way

Called for takeaway meals and were received well with friendly smiles all round. We had 3 main courses and rice/chips e.t.c.. The food was so tasty especially the Thai red curry although I thought that the sauce could be a little thicker. All the food went down really well at home. Will be going back.

Service was outstanding. Food beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. Very comfortable ambience. We were on a one-off visit to Hartlepool several hundred miles away but if we lived locally we would definitely be eating here regularly.

Food and service was, as usual, outstanding. We had a mixed platter for starters and a main course. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious.

I’ve just seen a couple of very dubious bad reviews for the Baan Thai - I say ‘dubious’ because I have eaten here four times in the past couple of months - every time the food was superb, and the service was wonderful. At my request one of the girls took me to the kitchen to visit the chef and his team so I could tell them how much I had enjoyed their food. If you want to know what terrific authentic Thai food tastes like - go to the Baan Thai.

Took wa lass down to what i thought was a well made, homely restaurant. But no, it wa quite the opposite, or opposh*te i should say. Walked in and in under a minute our lass was called a sl*t from every p*ki in the building, and i was the only Pakistani man in the establishment. Food gave me ring sting for a good week after, sh*ts were softer than the soil on a wet sunday afternoon.

We dine here 5 or 6 times per year. It is one of our favourite places and we have never been dissapointed.

Have eaten here before and this time the food was good. However the overall experience was spoiled by extremely slow service and an incredibly rude waitress. Won't be back.

Called in and caught the special happy hour menu and we enjoyed another delicious meal at the Baan Thai. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was first class again. Spare ribs and chicken satay for starters and mains were pork massaman and chicken panang both accompanied with sticky rice.

The restaurant is very cozy. Nice quiet Thai music in the background. I ordered massaman curry and there is a chicken( I am a vegan ) so I ask them if they could removed chicken from my curry. When my order arrived the waitress smiled when served the food. The smell was amazing and what is even more amazing is that they take out chicken from my food. The curry taste amazing. There is also a hidden Jems around the painting and decorations! The amazing value is served here

We've eaten in the restaurant a few times in the past and it has been very good, indeed we've left reviews to say so but the takeaway was completely tasteless. When messaging the restaurant privately just to advise them that it wasn't up to standard they replied at 1.30 am to tell us to bring the food back for them to check it! and advised we had complained similarly 3 years ago about a takeaway! Obviously not learned anything since then then. We just could not believe their attitude online, so rude. Said if we came in they would refund the money on one dish as they put peppers in when we asked for without, but this wasn't the point and we were shocked and upset at their rudeness.

I am so often disappointed with Thai food in the UK but everything I have tried at Baan Thai has been absolutely delicious.

We literally stumbled across this place on the last night of our Hartlepool break. Nothing exceptional from the outside, but inside was really great, with a superb menu and lovely staff. We went for the "Happy Hour" menu which runs from 5pm til 8pm each night....the only difference being that the portions were supposed to be smaller. Anything larger would have been too much. Wish we'd found it sooner and we will definitely return.

I was up here on business with someone in the office recommended this restaurant I love Thai food so it was a no brainier we had the sharing starters which were excellent. For main I had the Red Thai chicken curry with sticky rice and the accompanying Singha beer a great dining experience I will be going here again when I am up here again

I tried a meal while working in the area the restaurant was busy and maybe a little slow in getting served but the quality of the food justified the wait.

Been a couple of times before and decided to grab a takeaway after going surfing. We would like to have called, offered and picked up on the way home but the menu links on the website weren't working.

I've been visiting Baan Thai for a number of years with my wife and friends and realised I've never left a review.

Coming out of the station, Church Street appears to be a bit run down and shabby with a lot of buildings empty. Thanks to a cancelled train, I had an hour to spare and I was hungry. The first place open was the Baan Thai. It didn't look much from the outside but once inside I was surprised how nice it looked and the decor very attractive. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving me suggestions for the 4 course set meal. The food arrived quickly. It was very hot (temperature wise) and very tasty. The dip with the prawn crackers was sublime and I loved the Chicken Satay and the green curry was so tasty yet not too hot (curry wise). All served in good time for me to get my train. I really enjoyed everything about it, especially the price.

Extensive menu. Food and service first class. Excellent value for money. Lovely intimate atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit. We had the mixed starter for two. We shared a vegetable fried rice. My wife had Panan Chicken and I had Crispy Fried Duck. We ate here some time ago and in our opinion the food is even better than the last time we visited.

My boyfriend and myself were looking for an Asian restaurant and we liked the comments about this one in trip advisor. We have to say that was the most beautiful and delicious Asian food we have ever tasted. The fact that the service was great, kind, welcoming and quick is a plus for giving +5 stars to this restaurant. We would recommend the Pad Thai and Pad Se-Ewe to try and the duck was an excellent choice as it was cooked to perfection. For the quality of the food to cost less than £20 a head with drinks for 2 courses is more than reasonable as well. We will return as soon as we can!

First visit to Baan Thai. Location is easy to get to by car (plenty of street parking), train station also just around the corner. I just ordered a main - Vegetarian Massaman Curry. First time I had tofu, which I wasn't keen on. However I didn't let that put me off, the jasmine rice was lovely as was the sauce. Would recommend booking in advance like we did with a family of six, as the restaurant can get quite busy and only has a limited amount of space on the ground floor.

I hadn’t been here for around seven years and was unsure how it would compare to the old/ excellent standards. I needn’t have worried. The food and service was great. I opted for a seafood chilli sizzling dish with coconut rice. King prawns, squid, mussels and sea bass coated in a beautifully spiced sauce hit the spot and made me glad that I returned. Unassuming spot and location you may say, but well worth the visit. Could eat here every night

Have eaten here 3 times in the last few months and have not been disappointed. Opted for the special 4 course menu, so much choice. Staff are happy to make recommendations, service is great. The food is plentiful and very tasty. Will defintely become a regular customer here!

We ate here on a Saturday night and found it to be popular and very busy. Our starters and main courses were all very good. Two of us ordered the 'jungle curry' which certainly lived up to its 'three chilli' symbol! As we qualified for the 'happy hour special' we also started with prawn crackers and finished with coffee. Our final bill, including drinks was only £16 per person which we thought was fantastic value for money. Service throughout was friendly and professional - and our waitresses were very apologetic about needing our table at 8pm for another booking.

Excellent service staff very attentive, excellent value and most of all excellent food. Definitely be back.

If you like Thai cuisine you can't go wrong with the Baan Thai - it's probably the best Thai restaurant in the area.

We were in Hartlepool to drop our son off at university and were looking for somewhere to eat. We walked past Baan Thai and the amazing aromas coming from the restaurant made us turn back and go in. And I'm so glad we did!

Been a couple of times and both the food was outstanding. I have been to many Thai food places before and this by far is one of the best. Such a warm and friendly atmosphere. I went with a friend on an impulse. It’s a traditional family run establishment. Our food was freshly cooked. Good sized portions and tasty. The decor is perhaps a bit tired it was very clean. Occasional odours from the kitchen. Overall very good value!

Really is a great restaurant, don’t be fooled by the decor or the unassuming appearance from the outside, the food here is excellent, amongst the best I’ve ever had. If this was on the quayside in Newcastle or in Durham you’d pay twice the price. Fresh food, fabulous flavours, great presentation and lovely service.

Well where do I start visited Baan Thai with friends. Made to feel welcome by Pearn and her staff. Baan means home and it felt like I was eating at home I’m a relaxed environment.

We were a group of 16 who had a booking for 6PM. When we arrived, it was pretty much empty. As time went on, the restaurant slowly started to fill up.

Working nearby I ordered food from the lunchtime menu which was Chicken Satay followed by Thai Green Curry with rice, it was £7.75 for both & was excellent value for money, order was waiting at the time specified, was well packaged, tasted great & a few prawn crackers thrown in for good measure, next time no starter as there was so much main, definitely recommend this restaurant as great customer service too

I've been a couple of times before and the food is always lovely and great value too. I'm a vegetarian coeliac and their menu is really well marked for allergens. I will definitely be back again and would happily recommend to others :)

This is the best restaurant I have tried in town. The taste & quality of the dishes was amazing. The service is also great the waitress was a very nice person. If you love Thai food this is the place to go in the town.

We both like Thai food and we were totally unaware of this restaurant until I found it on TA. It was a Monday night and very quite due to the road works in Church Road. The food was delicious and well cooked the service was first class. We enjoyed the the whole experience. This won’t be our only visit here. Don’t be put of by the roadworks - the effort is well worth it.
