Avenue ballroom and cafe in County Durham

Went past looks really nice been to a good friends wedding .Brilliant place .lovely staff very welcome and friendly .

I only discovered by accident this place has a bar open to the public today. Just had sandwich and chips for lunch but it was absolutely outstanding and a very reasonable price. It looks like it's not getting the business it deserves so please support it. Hopefully they will raise their profile a bit more and not go out of business like most other decent enterprises around here do with depressing frequency.

Worst experience. Attitude of Bev was appalling, rude and aggressive throughout. Everything we asked for was too much trouble and I do not believe that she is suited to the wedding and hospitality sectors which require a friendly, helpful & professional manner which unfortunately she lacked .

OK but a bit basic. The room where the wedding was conducted was a good venue. The area for the Wedding meal was very basic, the food ok but the bar staff were dressed in jeans and scruffy cloths, you would have thought they could have dressed more appropriately for a wedding reception.

Attended a function here and was blown away by the service provided. Tables and chairs dressed beautifully, hot and cold food prepared and served in house, and the staff are very attentive and welcoming. I highly recommend to anyone and everyone 5 STAR

Was a lovely place. Went as a guest to a wedding party. Food was delicious. Bar drinks not expensive and plenty of space.

A big thank you to bev Williams and her staff our wedding day was just perfect from start to finish thanks to bev and her team maken everything go smoothly. And the sit down meal was just perfect all 100 guests were so happy with the food even the night food was amazing as well her staff were fantastic bev Williams did amazing job from day one from booking the venue right up to the wedding day. The room looked just perfect just how me and Rachel wanted just amazing job.we couldn't ask for better day thanks to bev. I would definitely recommend the Avenue for any weddings or other events . Me and Rachel have given bev Williams 5 star ratings just amazing

I attended a wedding reception at the Avenue. We had afternoon tea which was delivered with very little ceremony. Some of the bread was dry and the pastry on the corned beef and the cheese slice was hard and overdone. The pasties, cakes and scones where nice. Disappointed that no glass could be used for drinks in the evening? It was a wedding not a drink after a football game.

Beverley Williams is a at the avenue room in hartlepool she is a disgusting person I would definitely not book here for anything like weddings and party and events she is so rude and she is a scam artist my son put 200 down for his cemoney and she came back and said that be 165 left to pay and then she came back and said its going to be an extra 457 pounds to pay never book this person she won't even give me a refund back and we are not in a contract with her and I went to cab and now I am going to get the police involved !!!!!!! DISGUSTING DONT ! !!!!!! !!!!!!!BOOK HERE !!!!

recently attended a wedding at this venue. the room was set up beautifully, the meal was average and the dessert was still frozen and no apologies given when it was brought to the attention of the staff. I feel certain members of staff would benefit some lessons in social skills as they where not welcoming on arrival and where quite rude at times. We still had a fab day and night however I don't think I would be recommending it

Fantastic Venue, great atmosphere and lovely food

My wife and I visited this establishment on a Sunday, initially to visit the indoor boot sale, however we decided to have coffee and I am pleased to say we were very pleased we made this decision. The coffee was first class, not bitter as some places serve up but full of taste. We ate simply, having a cheese and a fruit scone. These were delicious and plentiful. Prices were very reasonable. We will be visiting again soon to further sample the food on offer as it looked very appetising.

This is a great little cafe serving a variety of meals, sandwiches & hot & cold drinks, walls are adorned with quotes from Alice in Wonderland as well as a couple of drawings, they also serve afternoon teas too as well as Sunday lunches, never sat in but the meals look plentiful for the price, I always go for a jacket potato take out which you can't fault, plenty of filling & side salad.

Lovely catering and surprisingly spacious room. Nice service and all told a really great day. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely place for all celabrations

Catherine and I went for the 1st time to the avenue café on Friday 7th of April and we were pleasantly surprised on how friendly the staff were. We decided to have a meal, Catherine had a roast chicken dinner ( oap size) while I thought it was a good idea to have the large mince and dumpling. The food was hot, well presented and the vegetables were proper veg, no tinned stuff here. Meat, carrots, roast and mashed potatoes along with mushy peas. Catherine's dinner came with a Yorkshire pudding whilst my dinner came with a giant dumpling. I didn't leave any, but I was struggling at the end. All finished off with a pot of tea in a proper tea pot with cups and saucers. We went back today ( 13th of April) for the pensioners special, cornbeef pie with chips, mushy peas and gravy, Scampi, chips, coleslaw and salad. With a pot of tea for 2 along with a sandwich of choice and a scone of choice to take home, for a fiver each !! How Beverly the owner makes a profit I don't know. Lovely food, nice atmosphere and service with a smile. Well worth a visit, you won't be sorry, definitely worth the visit. Needless to say we're going back next week. John and Catherine Larkin

Went for an engagement party. The food was a bit below average.

Amazing venue for any event be it Engagement, Wedding, Christening, Birthday etc. Being part of the team with my business Wedded Bliss Events and the rest of the guys is one of the best experiences I've ever had. Good value for money, brilliant Customer Service and friendly atmosphere too.
