Attic in Southend-on-Sea

It was a brunch we didn’t know we needed. Staff were friendly and inviting. But oh my! The food was delicious! We aren’t local but will definitely come back!

Had a wonderful lunch of oxtail with mash & the steak and ale pie. Delicious!! Cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The oxtail was melt off the bone heaven. Highly recommend 👌 No photos to attach as we gobbled it up in minutes! Thank you very much

We had a lovely lunch here, the food was absolutely delicious, the traditional breakfast was great but there’s also a good range of other really interesting options, we had the open tortilla and the flavours were fantastic, one of the nicest lunches I’ve eaten in a long time and we eat out a lot. Great location by the seafront but not in the busiest part, so not too hectic. Service was great, super friendly and helpful. Great value too, highly recommend.

Wonderful place to eat and fabulous atmosphire at the Attic. Enjoyed a 5 course seafood menu and each and every course was delicious. Well done to the chef and staff who made the night memorable. Will be going back again, no doubt.

Stylish, simple , friendly, good coffee. My Sourdough toast wasn’t really toasted but my vine tomatoes and mushrooms more than made up for it . Would certainly go again

What a gem of a place. Very different to all the other cafes on Southend’s seafront. Fresh ingredients, brilliant food and lovely staff that was very welcoming and looked after us and our toddler. We ordered the jerk chicken which was spicy and succulent. The salad was very refreshing with a really nice dressing. We also had the pork sliders which was one of the specials on the board. 10/10 would recommend. High end restaurant quality food at a really good price.

Fab breakfast. Lovely to try something different rather than regular full English. Both had Baked Eggs. Comes with feta or chorizo but we added so we got both. Nice spice too! Excellent service. We’ll be back.

What a privilege to attend Attics first Supper Club - Taste of Jamaica! 🇯🇲 Took me back many years when on arrival I was sipping Rum Punch 🍹As each course was served (5 courses) the flavours were all so heavenly, every mouthful thoroughly enjoyed! None could be my favourite because they all were!! What a lovely evening, great company, fabulous food by chef Richard and such a welcoming service from manager Jo - set in a very nice intimate yet spacious restaurant on the seafront - looking forward to the next ‘Supper Club’ 😊

A lovely cafe and brilliant for breakfast. We had the granola which came with (deep breath) yogurt, honey, apple, strawberries, blackberries, pomegranate seeds, and nuts. It was delicious and really set us up for the day. Oh, and the toast is proper doorstop slices 😋 Most importantly the staff were really friendly and welcoming! We'd definitely recommend popping in if you're in the area.

Chanced upon this place as I didn’t want a Costa or Nero breakfast/brunch. And what a little gem. Independently owned and operated the good was excellent, beautifully presented, well cooked and tasty. Venue was nicely decorated with a comfortable welcoming feel. The couple who run the place were friendly & accommodating. If this place was in London or would be rammed!! We need more friendly good independent places like these, whether it’s a cafe, restaurant or bar. Highly recommend.

We're a family of 6 and we popped in for the bank holiday weekend that just went by. We've always found it difficult finding nice and healthy food in South end but we were delighted with what was available in Attic. I would definitely recommend and will come back the next time where in South end

What can i say about the Attic? Well, just an explosion of deliciousness! The new Manager Jo is so friendly and welcoming and service fantastic.. The food is incredible. Top quality, incredible flavours. Everything cooked to order. So far I've tried the roasted cauliflower poke bowl - outanding! And the vegan breakfast - just too delicious! Next will be the jerk chicken and tacos!! And the cakes! Homemade by a local lady. Beautiful and moreish!! I eat out regularly in the leigh/southend area and there are very few venues serving such wonderful quality food. Look forward to the speciality foodie evenings being planned. Well done Attic staff!

Nice place with friendly service. Unfortunately my toast and bacon were really burnt. My girlfriends eggs royale was superb though.

Polite and friendly staff. Food freshly cooked to order. We have been meaning to stop here for a while ... limited opening hours ... but it was definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended.

A lovely, clean little space. The ingredients used here are top quality, delicious food! The service was warm and friendly, and I felt very well looked after. Would highly recommend visiting!

Update May 2022. Sadly this place has changed and not for the better. Staff are still amazing but quality of food has dropped. Sausages changed completely, not cooked well either. Gone are the nice teas and cool theming as well. Wow, what an experience this place is! Slightly away from the main area of Southend, but more than worth the 5-10 minute walk away. My friend and I were attracted by the outdoor signage and thought we would stop in for some tea and scones. They place is small and decorated with tea cup and pots for lights. There’s a serious nautical theme going on, and it works! We initially ordered tea and scones but they had sadly run out of cream. So instead we decided to go for a breakfast plate (we saw one go by us earlier). This was the best decision ever, as the breakfast was amazing. They were out of bacon so she gave us a second serving of their amazing locally sourced sausages. Wow, talk about a breakfast cooked to perfection, and service with a smile! Seriously, some very friendly owners here who genuinely care about your experience. I can’t recommend it more, and can’t wait to go back. Skip the fake American diners in town and come here!

I had read the reviews for a good breakfast so I tried it, quite frankly disappointed. The full English was not full, and the bacon was tiny and crispy! The surroundings were very nice as were the staff.

Called in this morning to grab a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich and was surprised at how good it was! It was loaded with bacon and the sausages are the best I’ve tasted. Will definitely come back to this place 👍🏻

A post came through on one of my feeds advertising this place after reading the positive reviews we made the effort to visit on a Tuesday when we got there it was closed with a notice on the door informing it only opens from Thursdays???? This is not posted on their website!!!!!

You have to try the bacon and egg bagel here. Absolutely delicious! The bagel was freshly baked, beautifully light and as big as a small dinner plate with a perfectly cooked egg yolk peeping through the hole. Yum! Great black coffee too and friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely place! The customer service was amazing! It really made a positive difference to my trip after experiencing some racism in southend from other services during my stay. The food was fresh and reasonibly priced so I went back the following day and would have gone back again if I had stayed longer. The atmosphere was welcoming, comfortable and clean and I would go back without hesitation! The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is a meal which comes with salad was a little scarce and dissapointing with the salad. It was just a few leaves. I think it could be improved with at least some cucumber and tomatoes, dressing options etc. But thats it. I would still go back. Lovely place, lovely food, and lovely staff. ( could also add non pork options). Either way, I will be back!

We attended a family birthday here Sep 2018, and again for my birthday last year. Love the atmosphere, having a private function set up the first occasion, and mine and my sister's dietary requirements being catered on both. Everything here is so cute and quirky,lovely place for brunch or afternoon tea. Whenever I pass by recently, seems to be closed, so I look forward to being able to pop in again.

Just had breakfast and it was soo good. Seriously I post every so often, but this place is fabulous and I’m still drinking my tea. The full breakfast is big and great quality no deep frying. Beautiful bread too.

Called in here on a very cold day midweek at lunchtime for a cup of tea and a sandwich. Very warm welcome, huge pot of very good tea and a proper sausage sandwich made with bakery fresh bloomer bread. Will be a regular from now on

We visited yesterday having travelled from Scotland for a nearby wedding. What a little gem of a cafe! The decor is quaint and creative from the teacup and teapot lights, to the teabag shaped menus. We all loved our meals which were very well priced and filling. Thank you for your friendly service and talking us through all the teas you had on offer. The explanation that staff were people with disabilities or learning needs, training for a working environment wasn't necessary as everyone there provided a great service. Thank you again.P.S. I 100% recommend the coconut hot chocolate

Great theme and execution. Cupcakes, frogs and snitches were real favourites. Shame the bottom of the scones were burnt. We’d have said something but no one came back to us!Lovely themed decor. This spot is located along the Southend coast on the way to thorpe bay, right near the beach. Good is great, decoration is creative. Staff are lovely and kind and hire/support disabled people which is really kind.

Stayed at the Premier Inn and fro experience recently thier breakfast is horrible so strolled along the Attic Cafe and had y 7 great breakfasts.

The welcome was very friendly and the coffee excellent and of large size. My Americano, that came with hot milk and one cappuccino only cost £4.00. That is very good value compared to Costa and Starbucks. The sofa was extremely comfortable and although we only had a coffee, we didn't feel rushed.The whole atmosphere was very calm and relaxed.

Super breakfast, locally sourced and great ethos. This cafe works with locally challenged young adults, giving them a chance to work in the local community and learn new skills

Wonderful, friendly, supportive place. Beautifully decorated, serves yummy food, good coffee, a selection of teas and drinks. They have encouraged and facilitated us being able to create a safe place for our members to experience a social event. I came here with my mother on a midweek afternoon and it was a lovely experience. Our drinks and paninis were piping hot and delicious. We also met the owner who’s name I can’t quite remember now but she took the time to chat with us about her business and her passion and she was such a fantastic person- if you want to support local business definitely go here!

Fab interior, greeted by a lovely dog. The breakfast was amazing. Huge sausage meaty bacon and dippy eggs were great fun with their little hats. The lady serving us was so nice and really friendly. Great service. Perfect late morning breakfast by the sea.
