A seafood lover’s paradise, where Japanese flavors meet Michelin-level finesse. The prawn and oyster dish was an absolute standout! The whole experience was well worth the time—the chef prepares the food right in front of you, introducing each dish with care. Friendly staff and cool vibes :)) we enjoyed everything, thank you for the amazing experience!

Albatross Death Cult was worth the train up from London + then some, and was a wondrous way to celebrate the end of dry jan. A restaurant with a proper identity — every single course featuring seafood (bar dessert, but even the sushi rice cream was in keeping with the Japanese-influenced menu, and was delicious). No jumping around different cuisines / food styles trying to show off for the sake of it — just incredibly talented fish cookery that shines through the entire evening. Oyster, mackerel, smoked trout, smoked pike, tuna, sea bass, cox crab, cod, mussel, scarlet prawn, hamachi. Particularly loved also how there was only one type of seafood being championed in each dish. Every course pumping with flavour, all set around the kitchen counter where you can watch both chefs at work. Perfect service, wine / sake pairing on point, inspired cocktails, and at £99pp for food is easily one of the best value tasting menus I’ve ever done. @albatross I’m sorry I stayed chatting well past end of service, but thank you + I’ll be back 🥰🌊🐟🫡💥

A must for any seafood lover. Loved the idea of incorporating sake into the wine pairing too. This is exactly what I want from ‘fine dining’. An minimalistic vibe, an edgy playlist, a top team who are charismatic and engaging and some of the best food I’ve had. I’m lucky that I live down the road from here but I would travel.

Found another hidden gem and a must visit in Birmingham! Managed to grab the last two spots last week, and it was so worth it. The food was absolutely incredible, my sister and I enjoyed every single bite. The unique concept and the amazing flavours make it such a memorable experience. Everything was spot on, including the service. Definitely coming back!💯

This restaurant has the potential to be a pretentious nightmare, it seats only 14 guests around a giant stainless steel island. However the staff, the food, & ambiance is joyful. You can talk to your neighbour or not (you will because you’ll be oohing & aahing about the food you’ll definitely need to express it to someone else. ) The chefs are so personable & answer any questions you have. Their skill is amazing (Ollie you are a rising star) The cocktail are inventive and delicious, I don’t do wine pairings I get too drunk but I was listening and it sounded amazing. The food… well I’ve eaten at many a Michelin restaurant and this one will definitely be stared next year (so go now) The food is extraordinary… their worse dish was still 10/10.. the crab, mussel & rice ice cream dish was mind blowing. If I live in Birmingham I’d eat here whenever I could. So friken good. Well done to all. Great concept, amazingly delicious food, lovely personable staff.. it was a privilege to eat there

Albatross Death Cult is a cozy gem in Birmingham that boasts an open kitchen, which I absolutely love for its cleanliness and organization. The chefs here are not only passionate but also meticulous about every detail, making it a joy to watch them at work. My favorite dish has to be the Sushi Rice Cream — a creative marvel with rice ice cream, delicious caramel sauce made from shiitake mushrooms, and sweet, crunchy seaweed. It’s worth visiting just for this dessert alone! 😋 Although I don’t drink alcohol and haven’t sampled their selection of sakes, their matcha mocktail with its fruity taste is truly exceptional. It’s also lovely to chat with Chef Piotr, whose humility and humor are as delightful as his choice of knives in the kitchen. A must-try dining experience where every dish features an amazing sauce with an inventive Asian and Western twist. Highly recommend!

We went here after I saw an article in the Birmingham Mail. We were really impressed. There aren't any tables, everyone sits at the counter and watches the chefs plate and cook the food, which was new to me but really great. After a few drinks we as the "audience" thawed and it became a really friendly, relaxed atmosphere with amazing food 😍

Wow, wow, wow!! This place exceeds 5 stars and was the best meal out in years. As both children were away, my husband and I treated ourselves to this very special lunch. Because there is a limit on how many can attend each sitting, intimate atmosphere and servers are very attentive. Diners sit around the area where the chefs prepare course after course of delicious seafood. As each course is served, the Chefs explain in detail the ingredients and how the dish is prepared, and this is not food you can make at home. Lots of detail goes into each course and enjoyed watching the dishes being assembled. There is also a wine pairing menu with everyone except me went for and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and Sake expert so introduced to drinks that wouldn't normally go for. I was driving but I didn't feel I missed out as I went for a couple of mocktails that were tasty and unique. The whole meal was a great experience with the staff being very friendly. This place is not cheap but is absolutely worth finding a reason to book.

What a fabulous evening. We attended a special event entitled “I don’t like sake”. Watching the interactions of the staff and all the guests, this was clearly not the case for any of us. I don’t know how many courses there were (I think it was billed as 7 but I’m pretty sure we got more than that). The courses were paired with a variety of different sakes and our sommelier clearly had a wealth of knowledge and a true passion for sake - she was amazing. The food was incredible and the pairings were impeccable, bring out the flavours of the food and sake impressively. Their communication before the event was also flawless. I currently have a health issue and they went out of their way to help me be as comfortable as possible, so I could fully relax into the experience. Thank you so much.

Absolutely perfect evening at the ADC, every dish was exceptional, as well as their large drink selection. Impossible to pick a favorite dish but without giving too much of the menu away, the Thai lobster was one of the favourites (pictured below!) Good fun being sat around the kitchen watching the chefs prepare each course and we were sat next to some lovely couples who we spoke to throughout the evening. Service was brilliant, all of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place if you want a taste of fine dining in a more casual setting than some restaurants which can be a bit intimidating serving this type of food.

Absolutely amazing seafood menu, exactly what you'd expect from the Wilderness team, delicious fish based madness. They made a special effort to cater to my gluten free husband and he didn't miss out on anything. Don't be spooked by sharing a table with strangers, it's a really enjoyable friendly experience. Most importantly the sea buckthorn punch is the best drink I've ever had and if you don't try it you're missing out! The gimlet was a close second and I don't even like gin. A wonderful experience as always, thank you ADC!

Lunch A.D.C Birmingham A new restaurant by thewilderness Located in Newhall Square on the ground floor of an old factory building just behind the Travelodge on Charlotte Street. You are seated on stools at a bench that accommodates up to 10 guests. This enables diners to watch the chefs prepare the dishes right in front of you, which we love. A lot of restaurants normally charge extra for that privilege. We had a procession of faultless and stunningly flavourful dishes with strong influences from Japan. Quite a few courses are served raw. A favourite of those was the ORKNEY SCALLOP / MELON/ YUZU. as well as KOMBU CELERY/ WALNUT/ FURIKAKE. Who knew celery could be so flavoursome. Out of the cooked dishes it would be a very hard decision to choose a favourite. Would it be the CRISPY MUSSELS/ KATSU CURRY or the POACHED COD/X0 or maybe IBERICO PORK CHEEK/CHAR SIU. The star of the show has got to be the 'CRAB DOUGHNUT',one simply isn't enough. A whole bowl of them, please. If you like tasty food served by talented chefs whilst mixing with fellow enthusiastic diners, then this is highly recommended. At £75 for the 14 courses, this is exceptional value for a high-end produce dining experience. Thank you to head chef Marious and Georgia for a lovely, relaxed lunchtime service.

Fabulous Saturday evening drinks with friends, and 5* friendly service from Robert and his team. The venue itself is just stunning! Feels like you’re in a stylish homely atmosphere straight from the pages of an interior design magazine - this is not your typical bar, it’s something very special indeed. We went for the festive tasting menu which was executed beautifully and took us through flavours of a typical Christmas Day - subtle and complex without the pomp. We’ll absolutely be back for more next year - can’t wait to see what they have in store going forwards.

Atelier is a one of a kind cocktail experience. It is quite simply flavour bordering art with the complexity of ingredients and how they are intertwinded. We booked the 7-course taster menu, approximately taking 2.5hrs, and we ended up staying 4hrs chatting to the owner about his menu, bars and the industry. Personal favourite was the Rain cocktail, a vodka martini based on rainwater (not kidding) which tasted out of this world, just like rain (honestly... it did!). The two old fashioneds were also fantastic, the best we have ever had with the later presented as an ice cream. What a way to finish the taster menu! The owner definitely puts passion first and business second, focussing on a high-end, personable customer experience and finessing his menus over months, also changing them every other week or month. Big shout-out to Robert and Gina for making our night! Can't wait to come back for the upcoming new menu!

We really enjoyed our first experience of Atelier! Location - it was quite hard to find if you don't already know where it is (my mobile GPS didn't get me there so worth making sure you know exactly where to go before ending up being late like us 🙈) Atmosphere - relaxing, clean and fun Quality decor and nice aroma Service was great; friendly and interactive Loved the knowledge share on the ingredients of the drinks Accommodating to requests (straws) Presentation of drinks was professional and appealing and the range of quite frankly unexpected ingredients left us struggling to pick which to go for! But 3/4 did the seasonal British Isles taster menu and 1/4 ordered round by round off the main menu All the drinks were tasty, fresh, clean, interesting and highly recommended! This is not a cheap lemonade and vodka with blue Curacao kind of place - but if you like quality cocktails with a story, book now! I would definitely like to go back again and have already spoke to others recommending a visit. Shame last drinks are at 11 and we couldn't get an earlier sitting - at the mercy of the trains so last drink was rushed Look forward to returning

We visited Tropea, having been gifted a voucher for Christmas, having been meaning to visit for a while it was the perfect opportunity. From stepping into the restaurant the service was faultless, greeted by friendly staff who were knowledgeable guiding my husband and I through the menu with recommendations and advice including the key advice of leave space for the tiramisu!! Staff were attentive throughout the evening offering a perfect level of service. The food was incredible we started with the beef fillet carpaccio, which was melt in the mouth, alongside Giardiniera (house made seasonal pickles). For pasta we shared the Tagliatelle, venison shoulder ragu and the Sardinian fregola, portions were perfect to share. We then shared the braised pork cheek and BBQ tender stem broccoli and winter salad, once again it made for perfect sharing. My husband had the tiramisu for dessert, and he was glad he left space, as it was the best Tiramisu he had ever eaten. I would highly recommend visiting Tropea, certainly one of the best restaurants in Birmingham that I’ve visited.
