The manager Chris at ASK Pizzeria in Lewes is such a lovely, kind man. He looked after us and gave us all a free pizza after we got let down from a deliveroo driver who left our pizzas on our front door (they immediately got stolen). Thank you Chris! It was not your fault at all and not your mistake to fix. Anyway the pizzas were hot and delicious. We will definitely be back. xxx

This is chain Italian. But the rice balls excellent. Pasta perfect and pizza like in Rome.

No lasagne at 730pm! A Italian restaurant with no lasagne is just unacceptable! Staff were embarrassed and very apologetic but come on, who is responsible for this?!

I decided to come to Ask Italian on Wednesday as a friend had recommended it to me, she said that the staff are very friendly and show that they really do care about your experience at ASK she also mentioned that the food was absolutely delicious. I can confirm she was spot on ! I would definitely recommend this restaurant, there is an amazing variety of dishes to chose from including vegan, vegetarian and non gluten options. A restaurant that has something for everyone !

Even for a Monday evening there were at least a half dozen or so diners which is perhaps testament to the more favourable appeal of an Italian restaurant - albeit heavily influenced by the nature of ‘chain’ ownership and generic menu content. It emerges that October (or thereabouts) coincides with a seasonal change to the menu so that (as it emerged) many of our ‘first’ choices were not available. Even more surprising was the fact that the restaurant had no olives - which one might have hoped for as the most basic of starter/appetiser choices. After picking our way through the now ‘limited’ menu the eventual orders were readily accommodated easily enough and served quickly in good order. Some minor lack of attention to detail as we had to ask for sugar and spoons to accompany coffees but for what accounted for nearly £70 for a relatively ‘simple’ and uncomplicated meal for two left us feeling slightly put out at the expense. Whilst I appreciate that the restaurant might not seek to advertise the restrictions on their menu according to the coincidence of a change in the seasonal selection, it might have managed our expectations better since to dine out at this restaurant chain - without the assistance of vouchers - is at the upper end of most people’s budget.

A pre booked Sunday Lunch for two. Whilst the overall experience was not terrible our chicken milanese was very sad and disappointing. We both chose this and were struck by the dry and in-chewable breast slice - Impossible to eat although flavour was good and all the sides were tasty. I mentioned our bad experiences to the waiter who apologised but as he and the other staff were mostly busy chewing the fat chatting to one another service was slow. A shame - but almost redeemed by a tasty pudding once that arrived.

What an improvement from my last visit about a year ago. New chef and managers have made a huge difference . Delicious food of a really high standard, great service and delicious glass of my favourite Trebbiano. Really recommend this restaurant now .

We often eat at Lewes Ask Italian, the food is always good and the staff are always friendly. On our last visit, our server went out of his way to look after us.

We were greeted immediately and kindly as we walked in. We were offered where we'd like to sit as it was reasonably quiet. We were given a free sample of yummy lemonade that I ended up having a full glass of. The atmosphere felt chilled, quieter than expected for a friday night, but it meant it wasn't loud or that service was slow. The food came within good time and my vegetarian cabonara was the best I've ever had! So light and tasty! Definitely recommended! My partner enjoyed his pizza, which was cooked perfectly. The chips were hot, chunky and huge! We didn't have puddings, but we've been here before and it's always been great! It was worth the trip :)

This branch has become consistent of late in the service it delivers and this visit was no exception. Aly looked after our table and did a very good job. Food is what it says on the box, never outstanding but reasonably consistent. Pasta and pizza usually give best value.

Tasty food - generous with the parmesan; & the complementary raspberry cordial shot at the start was a nice touch. Friendly waiting staff - including making sure we were out in time for the concert I was performing in. Overall, good value for money.

Son and daughter home from Uni, went for a celebratory dinner. We were looked after by the manager who was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The perfect venue for family get-togethers.

Excellent customer service by our waitress on a very busy night, she is consistently on the ball each time we have visited. Friendly greeting at the door. Food, good choice, plus healthy options, and desserts imaginative and to die for!! Very noisy with a full house, but cant see a way around that. All in all one of my favourite local eateries, and I can use my Tesco coupons to treat all my friends.

Lovely meal, really enjoyed my starter of King prawns. We had Tesco vouchers and were told we couldn’t use them on a Bank Holiday but Tesco info didn’t say this but they allowed us to use them anyway which was very good of them. Great customer service.

First time at Ask. On the whole it was pleasant. Staff very good. Only complaint was my main. Seafood linguine was very bland and was a slight disappointment

I was part of a group of 25 and we sat upstairs. We had pre-ordered our meals. We sat down on time (7.15 for 7.30) but the meals arrived slowly. A couple of meals were sent back because they were cold. Majority of meals were good quality. The staff worked hard to bring our food. Some of us ordered desserts which were good quality. We were given free prosecco to compensate for the slow service. Apparently they were short staffed. We were able to pay individually, which was helpful. Overall I would recommend.

We love ASK Italian Lewes, service and food is always good. Never had a bad experience after going there for many years. Always clean and has a great atmosphere.

We organised to have our wedding meal/reception upstairs, we had the whole area to ourselves which was great. The manager Kris went out of his way to make our day special, and worked with us to ensure we had exactly what we wanted for us and our guests on our big day. The food and service was excellent, as was the whole atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble for the team. I thoroughly recommend booking this if you want an intimate and affordable venue for your wedding day reception, or even just a private meal for a big group of people. We wouldn't hesitate come back and enjoy a meal here again in future, and thank all the team for making our day so perfect.

Walk in the afternoon on Easter Sunday. It was really quiet and we got to enjoy the best Sundae ice cream

I would rate you guys 20 stars if I could. It was absolutely AMAZING. The service was brilliant, food was well presented and the staff was just joyous to be around. Absolutely amazing bunch of people. Pricing is really reasonable for the quality of the food which was amazing. Both me and my girlfriend absolutely loved it. (I would definitely recommend the burrata and tomato carbonara with tiramisu for dessert). Absolutely wonderful. Would definitely go here again.

Update 20th March: comprehensive response and apology received from HQ. This incident was obviously localised and has been dealt with. Actual opening times must reflect advertised open hours according to management. We visited here at 8.30pm on Sunday 3rd March and was told that the kitchen had closed 5 minutes ago. Closing time is advertised as 9pm. We were foolish to visit again the following evening at 7.55pm and was promptly told that we would need to order in 5 minutes as the kitchen closed then (advertised closing time 9.30pm). Unbelievable!!. You obviously haven't a clue how to run a business other than a self serving one. We've enjoyed Ask Italian meals in various UK towns but will never visit another. Update 6th March. I've received a response from HQ and will update accordingly. Thanks for the response.

Pizza Express couldn't fit us in, strange as they were half empty but I am glad they couldn't. Found ASK Italian and what a gem. Great pizza, well paced friendly service. We shall return.

We went here for valentines and it was lovely experience we were really impressed. They were very busy and still spent enough time with each customer. Lovely! Highly recommend. Thought that it’s not going to be too great as it is a chain but we were nicely surprised!

For grandparents taking two 5yr old boys on a half term treat, perfect. Children's menu not only great value (3 courses 7.50) but proper food. Starter a great idea, dough sticks, carrots, cucumber and a dip which along with colouring kit kept us all happy till pizzas arrived. Delicious lemonade, not just fizz and sweetness. Children treated as proper diners, asked individually for their orders, not patronised, each pizza came with an adult pizza cutter. Happy children , happy grandparents. And our pizzas really nice too. Charming staff, can't recommend enough. Thank you Ask for your part in our lovely day out.

Great service, happy kid friendly atmosphere, perfect kids menu. White wine was warm and portions small for an Italian inspired restaurant. Only three calamari is not a starter,it's a sample, but they were nice and fresh. Calzone was not a good option, but the frutti di mare tagliatelle were ok, small, in fact very small for the price and unimpressive. Yet, we got through it before they turned the heating off again.

We came in on the weekend, had a fantastic meal which to my surprise consisted of dishes you wouldn't normally see in other italian chains. I opted for the goats cheese and squash salad which looked great and tasted lovley with the sweet tomatoes and fresh cheese 😋 My partner had a calzone which was perfectly cooked and that he said was delicious Prices are high, however, given the quality we received I think they were merited All in all a great lunch out :)

We decided to have some pasta and didn't mind that this was part of a chain. We ordered the fettuccine bolognaise. There was hardly any meat, but plenty of fresh basil and tomatoes. We also had a side salad, which we had to remind the waitress about. We also ordered dessert. I had a warmed brownie, which to my delight was very chocolately and the ice cream was nice too. My partner opted for cheesecake. The wine too was very nice. Good food for a fair price!

The staff were really plesant. My boyfriends beer was flat. The butterfly prawns came out raw and then the second batch that came out were overdone and very rubbery. The bread it came with was stuck to the pan. Unfortunately the carbonara and lasagne was very bland.

Whenever I am back in Lewes I always visit the Ask Italian restaurant. I tried to order using the QR code on the menu, but it just wouldn't work. I always find that the staff are all so friendly and helpful. When I say that I am of course including all of the boys and girls that are not seen without whom the Restaurant wouldn't run so smoothly. The food is usually delicious. When I go into Ask Italian restaurants I don't have their complementary lemonade until after the meal as it clears the palate.

It's Ask, so the experience is the same as all other Asks around the country. Simple and straightforward. Nice people serving and good food. Thanks!

We popped in for a late lunch 3pm. The restaurant looked almost empty but pleasant from the outside, the menu appeared simple but reasonable. The waitress was very slow to come and take our order but she was polite. I ordered a coffee straight away and we both opted for seafood Linguine. The Linguine arrived a minute or two after my coffee which should have indicated a microwave had been used. The coffee was tasteless. The Linguine appeared lacking in colour and sauce completely lacking in any flavour. Normally we would have ordered a desert and coffee to finish but we decided not to risk it. I needed to get up and go over to the bar area to get attention, given there were only two other couples in the restaurant at the time this was pretty poor. I passed on my views about the total lack of flavour and did not tip. My tip to anyone reading this is to go elsewhere!

The worst lasagne I have ever been served: three small sheets of pasta with about a tablespoon of mince and tomato between each, the bechamel sauce barely noticeable, all over-baked and hard at the edges - a total waste of £14.50. Will not be visiting again any time soon.

I did not get past the door , refused service at 8.10pm on the basis they close at 8.15pm. Opening hours show they close at 9.30pm and it did not like service was winding down.... I was visiting Lewes on business and they obvious did not want to give a table to a late middle aged bloke on his own !
