Arrived on a Saturday morning 30 minutes after opening. The lights were off and it was cold inside. I waited patiently at the counter without acknowledgement for a minute or so whilst the 3 staff busied themselves, then I placed my order. 2 barely warm flat whites arrived, then a bit later our breakfast, which was good. My rating is based on the lack of any sort of welcome or interest from the staff, and the cold unwelcoming atmosphere. We sat with our coats on, as did others. Whoever runs this café should sit and observe their staff because they need some customer service training. It’s the basics that are lacking here, and they could do with a reminder that it’s their customers who are paying their wages. This is not a cheap establishment, so I expect a bit more interest/enthusiasm, and I imagine other customers do too.

I called in for a coffee (which was excellent) around 11am, the place was full of screaming children, buggy/pushchairs and the whole place looked dirty and unkempt. The kitchen and serving area looked particularly not clean. The food was overpriced with a ticket price of £3.90 for a very small sausage role and a very mini Pastel de nada was £2.00. Overall not to be recommended, there are so many other nice places to go in Brockley so avoid this place.

Had a truly wonderful experience. I was cycling around beyond my area of Peckham. I have had a very challenging time recently and needed to rest and get my head straight. The staff were so lovely and accommodating. The food was delicious - great eggs, cooked to perfection!. I loved the atmosphere, the food, the folk and the sweet retro touches. I was set for the day after this great pit stop . Thank you, I shall be back x

My recent visit to the café elicited considerable dissatisfaction owing to a protracted delay in the preparation of a seemingly elementary item – toast. Regrettably, this culinary interlude endured for an excessive duration of 15 minutes, leading to the consequential inconvenience of missing my scheduled train. Upon entering the establishment, I anticipated a swift and streamlined breakfast experience. However, the service rendered proved to be markedly dilatory, with an apparent lack of adherence to the principles of expeditiousness. The solemnity of awaiting a timely repast devolved into a vexatious episode as the temporal interval stretched, and my expectation for a promptly delivered plate of toast remained unmet. The attendant laxity in the provision of service was evident, as the staff appeared indifferent to the temporal constraints faced by patrons. While it is acknowledged that the preparation of high-quality fare necessitates a degree of time, a 15-minute duration for the delivery of a basic order, such as toast, is undeniably excessive. The failure to fulfill even the most rudimentary expectations for timely service prompts reflection upon the café's commitment to the tenets of customer satisfaction. The consequences of this temporal discrepancy were not inconsequential. The subsequent forfeiture of my train connection imparted an additional layer of inconvenience and perturbation to my day. The café's inability to furnish a timely repast not only disrupted my itinerary but also engendered a deleterious impression, eclipsing any potential positive facets of the visit. In summation, my encounter at this café was marred by a conspicuous absence of expediency and a seeming indifference to the imperative of timely service. A 15-minute wait for toast might be deemed tolerable under certain circumstances; however, when its manifestation culminates in a missed train and undermines one's planned engagements, it assumes a critical dimension that cannot be overlooked. It is my sincere hope that this feedback is earnestly considered by the establishment, with a view to effecting improvements that ensure a more gratifying and punctilious customer experience in subsequent instances.

Once we had placed and paid for our order we were told that they had ran out of avocado so we both had to change our order. We had the wrong drinks brought out to us which we then had to change. They then brought out a sandwich instead of a toastie to which they refused to toast / change as the bread apparently couldn’t fit in the toaster. They forgot to bring us cutlery so we had to get it ourselves and they also forgot to bring over the sauces which we asked for so we had to get that ourselves also. Certainly will not be returning, overpriced and terrible service.

Cheap cafe with healthy portion sizes. Went for breakfast with my cousin on a Sunday. Was able to get a seat straight away. Ordered scrambled egg on toast with salmon which was a huge portion I was unable to finish, only criticism is there wasn’t a lot of salmon but they made up for that in eggs. Prices were cheap for London. My cousin is a Celiac and there were good gluten free options.

Delicious food but waited 40 minutes since ordering for it to arrive. Also, I ordered ‘Fresh Orange juice’ as it is written on the board priced at £2.40, however I noticed this was poured from a Tesco carton.

Lovely shabby chic cafe. My friend & I meet here regularly for breakfast / brunch. My favourites are the avo/cheese/chorizo on sourdough toast, and the mushrooms with garlic and parsley on toast, the cakes are pretty yummy too. Highly recommend.

Looks cool with retro furniture & accessories, and has a nice relaxed feel. The 'sexy toast' is great, the feta/avo/chorizo combo was my pick. The not-so-good was the crammed tables & chairs - I had to get up every time the family behind me needed to move, and the coffee was weak and slightly bitter. A flat white should be strong and creamy. Sort the coffee, remove a table & it'll be sweet.

This is a good stop for me on the way to the station. I use it when working from home some times as it has good and reliable wifi. The coffee is very good and the sausage rolls are amazing. Had an amazing breakfast of scrambled eggs and chorizo on my last visit.

Lovely food freshly cooked and relaxed retro ambience and a welcome addition to Springback Road. We had late lunch one Sunday and the frittata and salads were fab and reasonably priced.Opening hours limited to 4 p.m. but I am hoping this will change to opening later at the weekend. My one criticism is the staff look bored and don't interact with customers - when we first entered we were ignored whilst the server put glasses away. Later on a few people came in near closing time and on both occasions were told the cafe was open and then that the kitchen was closed with no apologies and given the lovely array of sausage rolls and cakes on the counter surely they could have offered these?I hope it's just lack of training and that on my next visit I will be welcomed with a smile.

We had a nice lunch, pleasant service. Unfortunately one of our party got a splinter in his leg from the chair. The owner apologised and swapped the chair for another doubtful chair. We had to come home to remove the splinter which was about an inch long.

The coffee is strong, delicious and a good price. The food is great although a little pricey. Decor and atmosphere is kitch and fabulous however it is often full of kids and mothers try to fit their buggies through the small space like they are playing Tetris... which make it unenjoyable for those wanting to have grown up time.

We've been twice in the last two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. The café is tiny so can get pretty busy. We both enjoyed the toast with avocado & chorizo, and the coffee is excellent. Staff are friendly and smiley. There's a charge if you pay by card, however there is a bank just over the road to get cash out.

Nice place and decent food although a bit busy and service could not cope with all clients, so bit of dirty tables and one of our toast was cold. Also, only cash, which is a bit annoying for me.Average i would say.

Food is okay but you could make a around 3 fritatas at home for around the same as you pay for a very slim slice here, and it would taste better! On a recent visit I had tomato and basil soup and although it is impressive that fresh tomatos were obviously used it would have been nice if they had peeled them. The skins had curled themselves into little sticks which were difficult to eat. Mainly, however, I just can't take to the people running this cafe, hence the review title. I wasn't aware that it was cash only and when I questioned this I got it straight in the neck. Sorry but why should I be told to go to the cash point across the road in a clipped and school marmish manner when I'm paying £15 for not a lot. At the prices charged it could easily be £50 for lunch for 4 and cash only? I don't see anyone else mentioning this and can't help wondering why. I like neither the food nor the attitude and will be avoiding.

great place if you just want to grab a good coffee and read a book or take someone out to lunch. The sandwiches are amazing and made with freshly baked bread and portions are quite generous.tad bit on the pricey side so wouldn't be somewhere I could personally afford to go to all the time but great for a treat now and again.

We like coming here as they're local and supplied by Dark Fluid coffee roasters, also local. The coffee isn't half bad so we come here while walking our dog for take out. There are on occasion times where the coffee has tasted slightly burnt. My only other criticism is the service: staff never seem to smile or have much to say, service has been rather slow, particularly when sitting outside (easily forgotten?) which of course negates the other reviews, so perhaps my experiences stand alone...?I prefer Browns of Brockley hands down, but what I will say is ill keep coming back for the convenience and the price.

Perfect place for weekend brunch or lazy afternoon coffee. Very cosy with random retro decor, fun staff including the owners working their butts off on a busy day- great team! That's what the area needed- cool place with fantastic homemade food and nice atmosphere. I'd highly recommend their veggie options, especially different types of quiche and you mustn't miss a cup of coffee and a slice of chocolate Guinness cake. To die for!

Came to see a brilliant band , but the TV was left on as some guy was watching the darts, kind of ruined the small amount of ambience created by the band... this is not a venue to see a band unfortunately as the staff and managers attitude sucks.. could be amazing with the right management... feels like a naff Weatherspoons , would not recommend... lots of other local music pubs available, give this one a miss unless you just want to sit staring at your pint and watching the telly !
