The new owners are having an absolute laugh with the prices they are charging. £3 for a tiny coffee - even the staff were embarrassed by the size of the cup for the price. Nothing but greed. Avoid!

If it hadn't of been for the good coffee it would have been 1 star! The food was nothing short of shocking! Bacon literally unedible. Hard as a goats knee! Pancakes we're clearly bought from a supermarket. Not child friendly at all as all they have to choose from on the menu is a toastie. Disgusting that they charge extortionate prices for extremely poor food. Coffee was good but we won't be back!

Preferred the Arcadia menu under the previous management. Sad to see the old team no longer there. Visited at Easter just after it had been taken over by the team running Babushka cafe(also Portrush) and again earlier this week. Traybake choice much reduced, gone are brownies and choc caramel squares among others. Savoury options limited- daughter used to love the sweet chilli chicken wrap but it is no more. The greatest rip off is the tiny cappuccino in a polystyrene type cup for the same price as similar twice the size available at 55 North.

My wife and I called into the Arcadia this morning for coffee and scones, something we have been doing for many years. This however will be our last visit. While the coffee and scones were as great as always we were completely disgusted when a man walked in and sat down with his large dog. The dog sat up on the seat beside his owner, the same seat as used by customers. The dog was than served with two sausages set on a plate identical to that being used by customers in the cafe. In other words when you eat in this cafe you cannot be sure that a dog has not used your seat or, more concerning, the plate that your food has been served on! Perhaps this level of hygiene is acceptable to some but not for us! We will not be returning.

After visiting the art gallery - which is amazing- I had tea and sausage roll. Everything was quite scrumptious, prompt service, very friendly. The reason I only gave the establishment 4 points was my disappointment when the table at the window I had decided on, was all of a sudden occupied by an employee. He made no move to offer me the table with the beautiful view. About 10 minutes later he offered it to a group and moved to a small side table. Did he purposely block the table?

Its not often I leave a review slating a restaurants attempt at vegan food in Northern Ireland because at least they are trying....but this was so disappointing. I visited with a friend who is also vegan and this picture is my choice of food. That heap of rice is supposed to be a Buddha bowl?! Who ever owns Arcadia should be ashamed of themselves. 6 beans, 2 mange tout, a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds (about a teaspoon) and a random less-of-a-sprinkle of radish slivers. To make matters worse it was covered in a cheap sweet chilli sauce billed as "special Buddha bowl sauce".... The leek and potatoe soup was at least not blitzed into baby food and left chunky. Points for that. But it had been flavoured with something off which made it inedible. Don't mess with a very simple concept! There was a bit of a discussion with 2 staff members as to whether the so called buddha bowl was even available. Having enquired about other dishes in view behind the counter as an alternatve (more than likely the Superfood salad) I was told "they are just beans".. Great well.. what is the dish then? Are they berlotti beans? Fava? Cannelini? Butter beans? Chickpeas? What sauce? Don't need the sarcasm. They look like they should be been part of that sad excuse of a Buddha bowl with the beetroot and lentils I could see in the glass display unit. But alas. They weren't. It was just gonna be horrid rice. My friend had a sad vegetable panini with some random nachos on a plate. It was just sad. All a little sad. And we were starving having had a swim in the ocean! We left the food barely touched and got a bag of ye olde faithful. Chips!!!

We love this little cafe & were sad to see such a poor choice on the menu . Early in the season maybe but I am sure you could provide more healthy options etc For example with your 3 choices of sausage roll ……not one of them were non meat based ! You only offered one single super food salad … so I gad to opt for a cheese toastie which came in sliced white bread and was decidedly unappetising ( no chutneys or anything to order it up ) You have a great spot here , please try to improve what you offer as it wouldn’t take much to up your game and then we will be back !

Expected better. Got in line somewhere around 11 am, whilst my mum waited outside. With at least 4 members of staff behind the till it shouldn't have taken almost 25 minutes. Music was very loud, witnessed someone sticking their head underneath the partition to shout as they couldn't hear the staff nor could the staff hear them. At one point one staff members actually squeezed between the two customers in front of me in the queue (not much in social distancing there - he was almost on top of the two customers). He was making such a song and dance about filling up the butters and jams. Once I finally got to the till, there was no scones left - after the poor fella having to fill up the condiments for it. Menu over priced - the only thing that really caught my eye was the scones. And to run out before 11.30 on a busy July Friday whats the point. At least the kids had fun in the pool/Park. Would literally only return for that reason.

Staff extremely rude. Masks & screens make communication harder than normal but their music is also loud so everyone has to shout to get their order heard. Another customers order was mistakenly given to someone else & when she asked about it the girl behind the counter yelled at her that it was her fault for not shouting. From 2 metres away & with loud music the customer didn’t stand a chance of being heard. The staff made a mistake & there was no apology. They were then left with the order that should have gone to the person who took the wrong order. Despite knowing they made a mistake the penny didn’t drop with the staff who kept shouting out the order which was never going to get picked up. Duh! I’ve never heard a customer shouted at in my life. I’ll never visit again. Plenty of alternatives in the area where customers aren’t yelled at.

Really disappointed in the breakfast. Ate here after spending a week in Portrush. Excellent sausage rolls, but that's where it stops. Grumpy staff, flavourless food and everything "eat in" served in takeaway packaging and practically thrown at you. Despite writing everything down they forgot the tea. It's got the best view ever, and a fantastic playground but that's no compensation for a poor dining experience

This cafe was a revelation. We both had mediterranean soup which was a very enjoyable and filling meal in itself, and the accompanying wheaten bread was equally superb. There was a really good choice of interesting healthy food and attractive cakes, and we shared one of these and it lived up to its promise. The coffee I had was also really good. Everything was very reasonably priced. We would definitely have gone back if we had been in Portrush for more than a day. The building itself is beautiful and in a fantastic location. We didn't have a sea view where we sat, but an added attraction was seeing all the guests, and ultimately the bride, arriving for a wedding in the gallery upstairs.

As a frequent patron I am a little surprised by some of the reviews.... although everyone is entitled to an opinion. Don’t need to say anything about the setting!!The majority of the food and ingredients are locally and ethically sourced and are used imaginatively to provide something different to and for the “gujon brigade”. The coffee is the best in town, again roasted and blended by a local supplier and it knocks spots off the competition which is generally bitter and flavourless. Finally Tomas and all the staff provide a laid back and friendly atmosphere with a warm welcome no matter how busy. Going from strength to strength!

We were in Portrush recently for one night. We stopped by while waiting for our B&B room to be ready, and had a tea and scone. Scone was very fresh and best I've had in a while. View is not to be beat. We came back the next day for lunch, and had an excellent soup and sandwich. The brown bread that accompanied the soup was the best I had after 19 days in Ireland (and after having had a lot of brown bread!). We also had a coconut/jam pastry that was excellent. Service was fine; we were there slightly before lunchtime, and they were able to accommodate the particular lunch items we ordered even though it was early. This cafe is one where you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table.

My wife and children stopped in here around 1630 on the May day bank holiday, for a coffee and a snack. The first thing that struck me was that the place was empty, the other was the number of staff stood idle behind the counter. We placed an order for 2 x coffees and some sweet items from the counter. I asked if the drinks were all one size, or if I could have a large Americano, the guy behind the counter pointed to ceramic coffee cups on the cup warmer above the coffee machine (this will be relevant late in my review) All was well until I attempted to make payment, where I was told we don't accept cards. Nowhere as far as I could see (and I double checked on leaving) was this signposted. The suggestion was to walk to the nearest cashpoint which is in Phils amusements. I was tempted to take my family and leave, but they had already taken their seats by the window. I ran to the amusements and withdrew cash, and settled my bill (another of my hatreds is having to pay for food before I have eaten it!). When our order was brought to the table both drinks were in disposable cups. I asked why a sit in order was served in a paper cup - we were told the place was closing soon, and after 1600 disposable cups were used - again not signposted anywhere inside. The food was OK if overpriced. While we ate out order, the staff bagan to place chairs on tables, pack away the outdoor furniture, and by the time we were preparing to leave at around 1630, we were effectively sitting in a closed coffee shop.I won't be returning - if you are going to open a coffee shop in one of the North Coast's prime locations, and you insist on staffing it using foreign nationals, who's command of English wasn't great - at least remind them they are no longer in Poland or Lithuania, and it is OK to smile, be polite, and welcoming to their customers. This is a great location, let down by those employed to work in it, backed by some crass policies to save on one hour of wages to close up and tidy up AFTER the last customer has left.

As we sat drinking our beverages all the tables were packed away around us, so by 1650 we were sitting in a closed restaurant, not the most welcoming of places. I'd definitely recommend this lovely old building to stop off for a snack or pot of tea/coffee. I guess the iconic building is approaching its centenary since being built - now painted white and standing elegantly next to a tiny cove along a pretty promenade. It was a gem of a place to have coffee, or eat, chat, read the newspapers and relax for a while. The staff were very friendly and helpful [prepared to customise meals to suit requirements] and other customers shared the same attitude. There's ample comfortable seating inside and the food menu is good, catering for vegetarians as well as us meat-eaters, also providing lovely home baked fayre. Outside, there is almost 360 degrees of small tables and seating to eat and drink and relax whilst looking at the bay, or out to sea, and there's a children's municipal play area to the back of the building used in season. Upstairs there are weekly classes in Yoga and Pilates on a magnificent sprung wooden floor that must extend across the entire floor plan! Definitely wouldn't be disappointed in a visit

At the end of a long walk from Whiterocks decided to call in for a refreshing coffee & cake. After initially being ignored by staff I asked if they had any cake. The tray bakes were listed off so I had to repeat my question to be told they had no gateaux. I decided on a chocolate muffin and americano coffee. I was then told that due to the cafe closing soon they could only serve my coffee in a take away cup and was asked if that would that's be ok? This was at 4.10pm on a Sunday afternoon! I stated decidedly that it was not ok. The waitress then had a conversation with another staff member and I was told again that the coffee would be served in a takeaway cup and shown it. At this point I left and took my business across the way. In retrospect I should have offered to wash the cup and saucer myself and asked for discount! I won't be back.

After spending 20p shy of 20£ we were then asked to pay for an extra cup to separate the smoothie that was too large for one child into two cups for both children. Was in the Acadia cafe today with family, myself, my four children one being 11 months, mother in law and aunt, and our bill came to £48.15, was SHOCKED. When I checked our receipt they had charged £2.25 for a kids sausage roll ( which were not great ) my mother in law and me asked for bacon to be added to our panini's which were £4.95 they charged us a further £1.75 EACH, which brought the price up to £6.70, but what really took the biscuit was ,I ask for a slice of plain white bread for my babies soup and they charged me £1.50 could not believe it and just to top it of, for a few mallows on a kids hot chocolate they charged 40p on top of £1.50. The cafe was empty when we went in now I know why, the prices are ridiculous especially for a place that is mostly used for people with children, as it is part of a outdoor pool / park, I think they use this to there advantage to charge these prices. You and your family would be better going up the town and going into some of the lovely restaurants in portrush and getting a nice restaurant meal for the same price, so stay clear if you do not want to be ripped off.

Cafe had sign up they were open so we went in and were kept waiting 10 minutes until we went to order and they abruptly said they were closed due to a wedding upstairs! No idea why they did not close the place or put signage up to indicate this. Instead we went to Koko (see my review) which had just as good scenery and delicious food.

The Arcadia is located in one of the prettiest buildings along the North coast and the view from it is spectacular. It is worth sitting outside on the terrace soaking up the smell, sounds and sights of the Atantic Ocean – in the winter you will need to wear some extra layers and maybe gloves – you will be well rewarded for your perseverance. Then there is the coffee - so many to choose from and all delicious - the cappuccino one of the best that i have had in Ireland. The tray bakes and cakes are wickedly good. The soup and bread is hearty and filling. The Arcadia is always busy and as a result you may have to wait a little for your coffee/meal to arrive - but waiting in such a beautiful environment is just an added bonus!Don't leave the building without taking a little trip upstairs to admire the architecture and views. Let your imagination run wild thinking about the glamour, music and dancers that those walls have borne witness to since the Arcadia first opened in the 1920s. If you are lucky you might have the added bonus of catching an art exhibition or participating in a yoga class.

Excellent cafe in a most beautiful location, jutting out into the sea on the East Strand in Portrush. The perfect location to enjoy a delicious breakfast , lunch or afternoon tea.Decor is very attractive, in particular we love the boat shaped high tables at the windows with the most wonderful views of the beach. You have a choice of indoor or outdoor seating depending on the weather. Menu offers an excellent selection of hot and cold snacks. In particular we enjoy the home made soups, although the cakes and tray bakes also deserve special mention. Coffee is very good. Free wifi is and added bonus. The cafe is child friendly and is located beside a wonderful outdoor paddling pool. Although there are lots of excellent coffee shops in Portrush, the Arcadia cafe is the family favourite. I would highly recommend a visit if in the area, although unfortunately it is closing soon for the winter months.

this is a very popular café with the yummy mummy and daddy set which is fine but as you get older you expect a certain standard on all things when your parting with your hard earned money should it be nice service ,a great coffee or just good old food hygiene. I have been in this café twice over the last two weeks and on both occasions my husband and I walked out , by the way we were not the only ones. Today Sunday 13th sept the chef decided to cut a precooked sausage on a dirty chopping board and proceeded to direct another member of staff on what to do by waving said sausage around the air he then wiped the hot plate food turner on the top of a overflowing dirty bin to then put it back onto his cooking sausage .The young lady working along side him opened raw bacon and put it on the hot plate with her hands to then wipe her hands down her trousers and life cooked bacon out off a container then she wiped her nose with her hand.

Family trip for 5 (kids: 6yrs/ 4yrs/ 13month). The building is beautiful right on the sea with a play park and beach next to it. Seating indoor and outdoor. Great food menu from the usual (Pancake Stack, Bagels, Ice Cream etc) to the unusual (Savoury Parcels; sweet potato, feta, fresh lime and salsa. Savoury grill melts on sourdough bread, etc). There was a variety of kids meals. Average food price was around £4 with the dearest £5.95 and cheapest £1.25. There were lots of staff which meant the food came out quickly and who kept the Cafe constantly clean. During our visit there was a Photograph Exhibition upstairs in the open hall.

Had a few snacks and coffee here. Great location on the coast and the coffee was not bad. The place could do with a clean up as the table were all over the place and there appeared to be a wedding reception upstairs. It was busy outside and not inside. Just seemed a bit disorganised to me. There was a guy cutting a pepper at the counter but could not see much cooking facilities round him. Views are great and make up to 4 stars.

Perfect for escaping the rain or basking outside in the sun, this is a very good wee café. Friendly staff and pretty good grub. One improvement could be some other options for lunch, maybe jacket potatoes. But there is still plenty of choice.

Opened back in the 1920s,this café has catered for thousands, of hungry holiday makers of all ages, but back in the 50s,it became part of the Arcadia, ballroom complex, and it kind of looks weird, perched on a little out crop of rock, partly surrounded by the ocean, today its a good as its always been ,and is a nice spot for a cupa, or a light lunch after a busy day building sandcastles on the beach .......

My husband & I were out for a walk & stopped at the Arcadia for a coffee as they had plenty of space to sit outside. The cafe is situated beside a kiddies playground with the sea & beach views at the side. The inside decor is very fresh & bright. Even though they were very busy, the service was very good & staff friendly. They had a good selection of tray bakes - gluten free included , yeah ! There was also a good selection of other hot & cold food on offer. I had a hot chocolate my husband a Cappuccino both were lovely ! Definitely be back.

Didn't like the fact that I couldn't use my Costa Club Card here. Spent a lot on drinks but never got any beans because my Card was Costa UK and not Costa Ireland. Is Nothern Ireland not UK ?

We stopped here after driving some of the Causeway Coastal Route and the ice cream was delicious! There were plenty of flavours to choose from (making it very hard to pick!) and they were really reasonably priced. The view out of the window was of the sea too so that was an added, beautiful bonus. Would definitely recommend a stop here, especially if you are doing the Coastal Road.
