This is a wonderfully quaint traditional tea room with the most fantastic savoury cream tea. I only give 4 on the food because although excellent they are a tearoom and so no chips or burgers. Also they are cash only.

Awful baguette, I think it may be a self bake one that they didn't bake off! Rubbery, chewy and stale tasting. Strawberry milkshake stated it would contain 2 scoops of ice cream. It was runny and about fridge temperature. They tried again, but I still maintain it only contained milk, as it should have been much colder and thicker. AVOID THIS PLACE.

As a local have used this cafe on many occasions but not again following a visit today. So very rude when I questioned the butter given for my scone which both looked horrid and tasted horrid, it was also completely different to that given to my friend. The older lady maybe owner became very sarcastic and was right in my face when visiting our table, very unnecessary. I'm sure you will have a lovely visit as long as you don't find fault!!

Was after looking and finding most places stop serving after 4pm. We found this place, we did get told no hot food options, so ordered 2 ham cheese and mustard sandwiches and 2 small bottles of apple juice. Food ok, not much ham but lots of grated cheese. Apple juice ( not sure of size but probably 250ml) was also OK Then the shock £20.70 of a bill. Ridiculous amount. If I recall the sandwiches was £6.50 each...so £3.85 for a small apple juice Would like to say staff great, but the feeling was we are intruding. And should go Overpriced

Not overly impressed with sandwich ordered. It states on menu granary bread... it was not even thick sliced bread and no granary 'bits' in it. See photo. Hubby ordered bacon only on farmhouse bread. Medium sliced white loaf, with thin rashers of bacon He was looking forward to thick farmhouse bread. The cost of this was £18.80 - £6.90 per sandwich and £5 for the tea, very expensive for what we received.

Popped in to try a Somerset cream tea. It would appear that the cafe is busy for breakfast and lunch because at 3pm we had the lovely little tea garden to ourselves. We had both the sweet and savoury scones - both large and lovely ! Old fashioned, quirky little cafe both inside and out well worth a visit.

My wife and myself are currently holidaying in North Devon staying at the excellent Imperial Hotel in Barnstable (Review to follow) and earlier today we visited Minehead for a trip on the West Somerset Railway (Review to also follow). Before doing so, we went for a walk on the nearby The Avenue to find somewhere for some Tea and cake. There was no lack of choice but we opted for the Apple Tree Tea Rooms which is both cosy and comfortable. It also has no shortage of very interesting rtefacts and - perhaps specially for tea. - we were serenaded by Vera Lynn. The tea, cakes (we had some fruit cake and a scone) and service were also excellent so no problems in recommending others to do so!

After seeing that this cafe only accepted cash, I noted that I had £10 in cash. Myself and my daughter carefully calculated the total cost of the food we were going to order to ensure we would have enough to pay the bill. She ordered scrambled egg and I ordered a toasted teacake. After the server took our order, we were browsing through the menu and realised there was also a breakfast option for scrambled egg which included a hot drink. This being much more expensive. At this point, I approached a member of staff to confirm that we wanted a child's portion and that was accepted. Moments later, an older women came out to our table and told me that an adult portion had already been cooked. I responded that the more costly option was only served between 10 and 12 so I didn't know where the confusion was coming from (it being 1pm). This was met with "I'll have to adjust what else has been ordered to make up for it". Which made us feel like we had committed some kind of criminal act! After making us feel terrible for her server's mistake, she said she would let it go and maybe I could donate some money to a charity box! This service was absolutely disgusting and I wouldn't dream of visiting this antiquated establishment ever again. Also, I have been visiting Minehead for years and this cafe has never accepted debit cards, so the "at the moment we don't except card payments" is absolute rubbish!

The Apple tree tea room was our go to place when we were in Minehead but after our experience on my last visit we will never go again. On all our previous visits the food and service has been excellent but on our last visit we were left very upset and disappointed by the whole experience and the service we received. Me my husband and two friends attended 2weeks ago we placed our order with the waitress .. who read back the order which was correct however when the order came 2 of the sandwiches ordered were not correct however we thought anyone can make a mistake and initially accepted what we were given. on reflection we realized one of the party could not eat the bread given her and we had also been given two portions of crisps that we hadn't ordered at an extra cost. I called a member of staff over and explained the situation and he then asked an older woman to sort the problem. She very sarcastically said she would remove anything that we didn't want and would replace the sandwiches with the granary bread we actually ordered but did say as the had run out of turkey that they would have to use the same filling which we readily accepted. when the sandwiches came back there was far less than we had returned the sandwiches were much smaller crusts had been removed and instead of the 4 quartered sandwiches there was only 2 on each plate. My husband pointed this out and her response was "I will bring you a knife and you can cut them in half !!!! I wish i had taken photos of the replacement sandwiches received . It was at this point I was very annoyed as the woman's attitude had been very sarcastic and condescending all through and felt as though she was talking down to me .....whatever happened to being courteous to your paying guests. I then asked to speak to the owner as I was not a happy customer only to be told she was in fact the owner at which point I asked where was the usual lovely young lady who was usually in charge was as I had never previously had any problems...... apparently that was her daughter; at which point I did comment that it was such a shame that she didn't take a leaf out her book and treat people with respect. I was very annoyed with the way we were treated and although i told her so i was still respectful to her and was not prepared to be spoken to in that manner. At this point we left and told her we would only be paying for the food and drinks we had actually consumed and that we would never under any circumstances return. We left and went to the Wheelhouse . and very extremely happy with our food and excellent customer service

An attractive looking cafe/ restaurant in an avenue with an abundance of various types of food outlets This offers a rather traditional aspect of dining and I would describe it principally as being English cuisine. We must have been unlucky, given all the positive reviews! Sticky table, staff seemed disorganised and not working as a team, standing about and inattentive. Our waitress was sullen, unsmiling and careless… so we didn’t get what we’d ordered and what we did get was mediocre. The whole atmosphere seemed like nobody cared, including the older woman we assumed was the owner who didn’t seem to be noticing how her staff behaved. Very different from other cafes we visited where owners were on the ball and managing their staffs’ conduct all the time. Disappointing, and we won’t go back as there’s much better places and food in the town.

Friday afternoon around 3 pm and we were in need of a cup of tea (and hopefully a cream tea) on the last day of our holiday in this lovely seaside town. After walking up and down the high street and all cafes were either shut or shutting, we eventually found Apple Tree Cafe and were made very welcome. We both ordered a cream tea, mine with the famous Wortlebury jam, and hubby had strawberry jam. The staff were delightful, the tea was in a pot and the scones were warm and homemade. Visited with my daughter, both ordered bacon brie and cranberry toasty on white bread. It arrived on granary bread but we did both mind this although it was quite well done on top. The waitress apologized for the granary bread and offered to change it...

First time in Minehead and what a find! Naomi is just wonderful, as are her team. What a treat. This is a lovely tea room. We sat out front watching the world go by, but the inside is really nice and the rear garden is...

We walked the length of this tree lined row of cafes and shops and something about this cafe drew me in. I think it was the word soup though I had the Ploughmans in the end....as did my husband. The atmosphere inside suited us perfectly as I love music of the 30s to the 60s and my husband is mad about art. Not to say that this is a serious place..the staff are very cheery. A lot of the food is home made and lovely. I could tell this cafe had its fan club who sit and chat wuth the owner and extracare is taken to source great products and cheer up diners n doggies.

So pleased we stopped here for a bite of lunch. Warm welcome and a very cosy tea room. Delicious Ploughman's lunch and plenty of it. All staff friendly and attentive. A nice change from usual cafe types. Definitely recommend

I was taken here for a 'sandwich' this lunch time. There was plenty of choice for light lunches and four of us had a very lovely time there. A bit quirky and a lot good.

Lovely little Tea Room. Friendly staff, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Even though they were close to closing. And the food was wonderful! Had a sandwich and a baguette and a cream tea. Really fresh and well presented. Highly recommended place to eat!!!

What a beautiful place to stay and eat. The food was delicious and not expensive. Helpful friendly staff and the service was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant and hotel. First class experience.

We have not been in this tea gardens for a good many years, either its been shut or its been very busy. This year we struck lucky and went in on the Friday afternoon. We had the the mixed cream tea-half savoury and half sweet with a pot of tea for two-we both enjoyed the warm scones and it was the correct amount for what you are paying-must be some greedy people if this was not enough for them, good value for money, lovely setting and warm and welcoming service

I reviewed the White Horse on the 18 April 24 when it re-opened after a period of failure. It was wonderful then just to have the pub open for drinks but now Lisa and Tim have a limited menu serving meals from Thursdays to Saturdays evenings and Sunday lunches. Some friends dropped into stay the other night and treated us to a Sunday lunch at the pub, the first since re-opening, which was not just good but exceptional. The beef was first rate with five vegetables beautifully cooked. The place was booked out and all by locals enjoying great hospitality filling the room with animated conversation. We shall be going again as soon as we can! On Mondays our 1759 Guinness Club is now able to regain our home in Stogumber’s White Horse. Last night we met to enjoy Irelands greatest stout and gained a fair few members. Word is spreading!

Beautiful setting; a quintessential English garden. We have visited Kitnors over the past few years whilst holidaying in Devon but our last visit was very disappointing. Ordered cheese on toast and cheese scones. Thin sliced loaf with thinly processed cheese. Scones were tiny with thinly sliced processed cheese. Small portions of chutney. All served on small tea plates. We’ve always promoted Kitnors to others but sadly not anymore. Staff were friendly but food was poor.

Lovely friendly place. Food was amazing, and very reasonably priced. Nelson the parrot was a lovely added extra and enlightened our visit. Booked again for tomorrow.
