I’ve stayed at this hotel a couple of times now and each time it’s been outstanding. The rooms are equipped with everything you’d need as well as some complimentary biscuits and milk which is much appreciated! The staff are attentive and friendly, nothing is too much trouble! The location is excellent as well, located pretty much in the centre of Bath so you can walk easily to wherever you want to go. The real selling point of this hotel is the pool and spa facilities. These are included with the price of the room and you can use them as much as you like during your stay, provided it’s not fully booked. The pool is a decent size, you can do a few laps with ease. There’s a steam room and a sauna as well which are both lovely. I would highly recommend booking this hotel if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Bath.

Extremely Disappointed – Not Worth the Price! I checked into this hotel after 5 PM, completely exhausted from my journey. I didn’t have time to inspect the room properly or raise any concerns, as I went straight to the spa. However, the next morning, I was absolutely horrified by the level of dirt and lack of cleanliness in the bathroom. The sink was covered in hair and toothpaste residue from previous guests, and the bathtub was full of hair—none of which was mine. The worst part came after I used the standing shower. When I sat down on the toilet, I was shocked to see the amount of hair and grime on the shower floor. And to make things even worse, the hair clearly wasn’t mine—I’m blonde, and what I found definitely wasn’t. To add to the disappointment, I had booked a room for two, expecting a comfortable and romantic stay. Instead, I was given a room with three beds, which completely ruined the atmosphere. Rather than a spacious bed for two, we ended up with a much smaller one—hardly what I had envisioned. And all of this for almost £180 a night! Absolutely unacceptable. On top of that, the room lacked basic amenities—no slippers, no bathrobe—yet the bathroom tiles were ice-cold. For the price, I expected far better service, cleanliness, and comfort. This was my first time visiting this city, and sadly, my experience at this hotel left me deeply disappointed. I would not recommend it, and I certainly won’t be returning.

This hotel was brilliant. Pool area is very clean, well maintained and the time slot system means it never feels crowded. Rooms were of a very high standard, location is also superb. We stayed here for my partners birthday and they made it feel that little bit extra special upon arrival in the room. Could not find a single fault with our experience at the hotel, would return without any hesitation if revisiting Bath.

No notes! Stayed at this hotel around New Year's for two nights and had an overall pleasant stay. The restaurant was quiet on NY's Eve and we had a lovely meal. Staff was accommodating and the rooms were clean and nice. Beds were also comfortable and you can't beat the location. Would definitely stay again!

Awarded four stars from this reviewer only because of his limited exposure to the establishment. There for the Employment Fayre, the vast expanse in the conference area is impressive, as was the event itself. This is one of the mist upmarket and modern hotels in the city. It has polish and an ambience of professionalism.

I’ve never got on with local councils. I know they’re strapped for cash, but they seem to exist solely to make parking more expensive and planning applications impossible. And nowhere is this more evident than in Bath, a city of breathtaking Georgian beauty marred by the occasional concrete monstrosity that some council planning department inexplicably waved through in the 1970s. A decade of bad architecture, bad politics, and – thanks to the BBC light entertainment department – some very bad behaviour. Which brings us to the Apex Hotel, nestled among Bath’s architectural mistakes, just a stone’s throw from Pulteney Bridge. The location is fantastic—close your eyes as you shuffle past the Wetherspoons, and you’re suddenly in Jane Austen’s England. The Apex is that peculiar British hybrid: half business, half leisure. The décor is modern without being stylish, functional without being soulless. There’s a bar with enough seating to park yourself with a laptop for hours, and a pool and sauna that become a riot of over-sugared children at weekends. The rooms are decent but could do with a refresh. My mattress was, frankly, tragic—possibly an original fixture from the 1970s, judging by its ability to collapse under the weight of a heavy sigh. And the lifts move with the urgency of a council planning committee, so best take the stairs. All in all, it’s a solid hotel in a prime location. As long as you get a good deal, it does the job. Just don’t ask the council for planning permission to build another one.

Firstly I would like to say the staff at reception and the manager at reception gave great service and helped to resolve the issues we had quickly and efficiently. This review in no way reflects on them or their service but on the hotel standards generally. Our initial room had a dirty toilet and dirty towels and bed linen. We spoke to reception about this and they apologised and gave us another room. This room was cleaner but there were blood stains on the bedding which we realised just before going to bed, in the morning we spoke to the reception manager who after looking at the pictures of the blood stains apologised profusely and advised they would get housekeeping to change the sheets as this was not up to there standards at all. The new sheets were clean but then when we went to shower both towels had large stains on them. It was just one thing after another with cleanliness on our trip. The location of the hotel and the service at reception and the bar were great which is the only reason I am giving 2 stars. The cleanliness issues we had need to be addressed by the hotel management, as it shouldn’t be luck of the draw if you get a clean room in a 4 star hotel.

An absolutely 10/10 stay here. The hotel is in the most ideal location less than 10 mins walking distance to everything, and upon checking in we had the nicest welcome from Mathew at reception. The staff overall were so accommodating and helpful and even offered us complimentary extended checkout which we appreciated! The spa facilities were fantastic and featured a pool, jaccuzzi , sauna and steam room along with various water features and a gym, all spotless clean and of a high standard. The rooms were as shown on the pictures and better, very spacious, aesthetic and clean with various features such as robes, slippers, spa products etc. the beds were like sleeping on a cloud it was great! I cant recommend this hotel enough and it was one of the highlights of my trip⭐️

A disappointing stay here between Christmas and New Year. The cleanliness of the room was the main issue - one can look past a bit of dust but not hairs all over the bath and stains on the bed. The sink and bath didn't drain properly and there was a strong smell of blocked drains. The service was also poor - the bed was re-made for the second night but room service wasn't cleared away and the bathroom wasn't refreshed so we ran out of some things, including loo roll. In other circumstances we would have asked to move rooms but we arrived mid evening with young children so this wouldn't have been particularly practical. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend to others.

I was going to have lunch at the hotel, but the staff member was rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. The service was disappointing. Even though the restaurant was empty, she insisted on choosing a table for me, and when I explained that I couldn’t sit there, she refused to accommodate me. Leaving the hotel was the best decision, and I will never visit this place again due to the lack of respect and poor customer service.

Appaling experience.  False advertisement! "Luxury SPA facilities" that you would not have access to! Booked two rooms well in advance in Apex City of Bath Hotel, specifically as they have swimming pool and SPA facilities. We came to celebrate a birthday whilst enjoying the city and the facilities in the hotel. On arrival (and we came even before the chek-in time) we were told that we cannot use the swimming pool as we were supposed to book it well advance! Well, we followed all the guidance, their very own website advises to book on checking-in! Firstly, it ruined our day  (kids are crying in the rooms now), and secondly, it is very unfair.... why would you pay for a service and receive it only partially? If you need to book SPA facilities well in advance, a good hotel would send you an email after the reservation pointing out things like this or would make a phone call. Then, they need to prioritise early hours for children, not for adults! Inadequate and appalling organasation of the process.

We stayed at the Apex City of Bath Hotel in a room with two queen beds good for 4 people. The room was big, comfortable, and had a window, which was nice. The hotel is a little far from the train station, about a 10-minute walk, but it's an easy walk to the city center, which takes around 5-7 minutes. The price was good, especially since I got a discount on Trip.com after booking train tickets. Next time I might opt for another hotel more in the center of town. We stayed in another Apex hotel in London and I could compare that this hotel felt a bit less fancy and more rundown. The London hotel also had better amenities and more complimentary touches for birthdays. There are many good cafes and restaurants nearby. There’s a brewery/pub across the hotel. Overall, the stay was nice, comfortable and ok for the price we got it for😊

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, located right in the heart of Bath. The rooms were spotless, with modern amenities that made for a very comfortable experience. They rooms offered a great selection of amenities, including tea, coffee, and biscuits in the room. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly, always ready to assist with a smile and offering helpful recommendations for local attractions. From the moment I entered, the lobby was beautifully decorated with twinkling lights, a stunning Christmas tree, and seasonal wreaths that immediately set a warm, cozy tone. One of the highlights was the relaxing steam room and spa, which provided the perfect escape after a day of sightseeing. The hotel’s central location made it easy to explore all that Bath has to offer, from historic sites to charming cafes. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to unwind in the city.

Attended Apex for a work three-course Christmas dinner where I left starving. My vegetarian main was three small Arancini balls. No vegetables, not sitting on a bed of vegetables, no sides or sauce - just 3 balls. The fact I paid £60 for that is embarrassing and we were all laughing around the table at how utterly appalling it was. Everyone else sat around with a small roast dinner. We asked where the rest of the food was and I got gifted a small bowl of dry unseasoned cabbage. Categorically the worst Christmas dinner I've ever had.

It was my first time staying in Bath, and I booked this hotel for a surprise getaway with my partner. The hotel itself is lovely, and the reception team gave us a warm welcome. Our room was modern, clean, comfortable, and quiet. Having access to the sauna, steam room and pool was a nice perk, and only the deluxe rooms include robes and slippers (or for £5 each if needed), which was a thoughtful touch. However, I was really disappointed by a few things. I have pretty severe anxiety, and our room (314) looked directly into other guests' rooms, which meant we had to keep the curtains closed the entire stay...definitely not ideal for privacy and I couldn't relax at all due to this. I also noticed that the paint in the bathroom was peeling off the ceiling before and after we'd used the room, and the carpet had visible brown stains on my side of the bed. Given the hotel's 4star rating, and how long I'd saved up and paid for this experience, I was expecting a bit more attention to detail. I'd be happy to come back if those simple expectations were met.

The room was very nice, we got an upgrade on arrival which was appreciated. We asked for rose petals, they were beautiful and they were real. However, the room was pretty dirty. The pillows had water marks, there was some sort of large tomato stain across the bedspread and the carpet. This really took the shine off things. The facilities were nice, they're was a great range of drinks and snacks. All the furnishings looks nice but we're so hard. The chairs were uncomfortable to sit in. The bedroom was well appointed. This is an odd thing to note, but the toilet seat was so narrow and the hole so large it was hard not to fall in! The pool was very nice and quite quiet. Pretty cold compared to the Thermae Bath Spa. This was a lovely hotel in a convenient location for Bath; everything was walking distance from the hotel. The hotel itself was modern, clean and had convenient check in (2.30pm) and out (11am) times. The breakfast wasn't included in our particular deal/price and at £16.50/person/breakfast, felt a little steep but there were other options nearby. The sauna/pool/steam room were lovely; we had planned to do the Theme whilst in Bath, but given we had this on site, didn't then feel the need in the end. There is a sauna, steam room, pool (with various bubble machines around the edges), recliners around the pool and hot/cold showers. Only thing that was lacking would have been a nice warm jacuzzi as the pool water was not hot. Parking was a 5 minute walk away in Charlotte Street council car park. Cost about £50 for 72 hours, and easy to park (not a multistory). Felt safe in the area and plenty of spaces. Probably cheaper options further afield but this was easy. Only criticism of the hotel was there was only one functioning lift for the duration of our stay, which meant that going up/down was very tedious stopping everywhere/lifts often being full. Final thing to improve was we were in room 441, which was a nice size room (eg shower and separate bath) but annoyingly could hear the lift calling bell/noise every time it was pressed/arrived as it was outside our room. I wonder if perhaps this could have been muted after 11pm to minimise the noise/disturbance in addition to people talking in the corridors (which the hotel cant help).

My stay at apex exceeded all expectations, earning a well-deserved 5/5 rating. Situated just a short 10-minute walk from the train station, the convenience of reaching the hotel was matched only by the excellence of the accommodations. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed, providing ample space to relax and unwind. What truly stood out was the cleanliness and spaciousness of the bathroom, a refreshing change from the cramped quarters often found in other hotels. With attractions within walking distance, exploring the city was a breeze. I would highly recommend making the trip from London for a 2D1N trip. It's an experience that's definitely worth the journey.

Had a fantastic stay here. All the facilities were up to a high standard and my room was upgraded for free. Best features are the pool which includes sauna and steam room, the breakfast which was really delicious and finally the location right in the centre of bath. Would 100% stay again.

A more upmarket chain hotel primarily aimed at the corporate market. Quite a few families staying over half term, probably attracted by the swimming pool. Our superior room was spacious and looked like it was recently refurbished. A bit disappointed not to have extra seating as there is room. Friendly attentive staff. Good location a short walk from the main pedestrianised area. Minor issue with no decaffeinated coffee at breakfast. Had to be ordered from the waitress and I'd nearly finished breakfast by the time it arrived. Why not just have a few sachets on the tea/coffee table ?

This hotel has a great location to the centre everything is walking distance. The leisure centre is a nice touch too you have to book in advance and you get 1 hour to use the facilities. You don't need to book the gym in advance. The roof itself was clean, good tea and coffee supplies. My son loved the rubber duck Oliver. The only downfall I would say is the water temperature of the shower on the hottest setting felt very cold, the bath was lukewarm. I had to boil some kettle water for my son not to be cold. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Recently made an overnight visit to the lovely City of Bath, and decided to stay at The Apex - with an early room option. We were upgraded to a family room - very spacious indeed and with a view of Green Park. The bathroom was an absolute delight - I luxuriated in the tub! Our room was very nicely warm and lovely and quiet. Breakfast was a treat - the portions were perfect and the ingredients very tasty. All topped off with table service that was prompt and friendly - even though the restaurant was very busy. The Apex is clean and contemporary and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay.

The room was nice but I found my bed linen dirty, which is not nice in this high end hotel room level. The room itself was large enough for 2 people and had a nice balcony view of the city. The staff was friendly but the pool was a nightmare, so overcrowded and we left after 10 minutes as the floor was so dirty as many people was walking barefoot without showering first. Also, I don’t understand why you say people to book a time slot to use the pool if then nobody checks how long people actually stay. I would suggest reserving some time slots for adults only, unfortunately was really unpleasant hearing children screaming and that made the experience not relaxing at all.

A great hotel with cool amenities. They upgraded our room for our anniversary and had some surprises for us as well. We really enjoyed our stay there. Modern and very close to the city centre.

Great hotel that simply ticks all boxes. We stayed here with our 8 m/o baby. Upon arrival, they told us that we got a free room upgrade, which is always nice, of course. The rooms are spacious and clean. It was lovely to have a bath in the family room, as it's easier to wash our baby. It is great that the family room has a separate shower for the parents. The beds are comfy, the air quality is good and the room is soundproof. The breakfast is also great. They have a solid high chair for children, fresh fruits, muesli, toasts, juices, etc. On top of that, you can order things a la carte, like scrambled eggs or a sourdough toast with avocado and poached eggs. They also make the coffee fresh for you instead of a machine. I totally recommend the breakfast. The pool and spa were better than I expected. They have a traditional wooden sauna and a steam room. Also, other sauna facilities like clean towels, a cold water bucket, an Arctic cold & tropical cold shower, and a water tap to stay hydrated. Then, we have another good point. We asked if we could stay until the big nap of our baby would end (2pm). The staff allowed us to stay until noon in the room and then provided us access to a conference area where our baby could sleep in peace. We really appreciate the extra mile that the hotel staff takes, so the guests can have the best stay. Therefore, a convincing 5 stars. I only have one point for improvement, although that might be a point of improvement for the UK legislation. The baby cot had a very weird mattress. It's not really a mattress, but more a plank with a tiny bit of cushion on it. We complained about it, and the staff told us that apparently, in the UK, it's forbidden for hotels to put proper mattresses in baby cots. So, if you're a foreigner and want your baby to sleep comfortably, bring your own cot to the uk. :)

Nice hotel, room was spacious we enjoyed our stay BUT I quickly noticed the same day when I returned home that I had forgotten my Elemis face cleanser which is quite expensive! I rang the hotel and the lady on the phone did a “quick” check on the system and said that she doesn’t have anything… which is most likely a lie! This means one of their housekeeper who cleaned room 419 have stolen my belongings! I’m disappointed how it was dealt with!! I’m calling back the same day of my departure and it’s disappeared that quick! Don’t go to apex hotel, they steal your stuff!!!

Why are these burgers so expensive? They’re not even very good. This tastes like any burger you could get at a chippy but at double the price. Actually most chippies serve better burgers.
