Ann's Pasties & Bar in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Went there on a wet and windy day in February to get something to eat and drink. We ordered 2 hot chocolates and 2 pasties. The hot chocolates were look warm and the pasties looked like they were a couple of days old, very dry and burned underneath. There were only 2 other customers and the tables had not been cleaned, floor was covered in crumbs and spilled drinks. Not a nice place. Maybe they were having a bad day. Based on our experience. Not recommend!!

Visited here twice. Sausage roll was very good when we eventually got it but we had to come in twice the same day to get it as they didn't have any in the summer. Then came back in today and no pasties again. Worst bit was they didn't tell us and we waited 20 mins to be told the pasties were a 35 min wait. Didn't bother in the end.

One of our favourite types of pasty. Have come back multiple times this year! Always get served a nice hot pasty with the most delicious filling, service is good and quick and the pasty is a perfect size and good value for the money. There is also a good steak to veg ratio in the pasty and the sausage roll has plenty of well seasoned meat inside!

Nice. Forget Philps. Anne's is the way to go. Chiiled atmosphere.

Best pasty I've ever tasted would highly recommend.

We stopped here for lunch and ordered a couple of steak pasties. The lady that served us was very friendly. The pasties were served piping hot but had stuck to the inside of the bag which meant they pulled apart when we tried to take them out. They were also quite greasy and contained very little steak. We sat outside and ate in front of the shop. Once finished we did not notice any bins outside the shop other than the ones in the car park opposite. We would not return.

Nice food, but quite often they have sold out of most things so can be disappointing 😞

Popped in for a pasty after a coastal walk around the lizard. Enjoyed the pasty and a drink. Staff friendly. Quite rustic which was suitable as had out walking boots on.

Best pasties ever! Thank you! The pasties from the day before are cheaper, which is great to take away. Of course, it's even better fresh - great mixing ratio, great dough, great ingredients. :) The cakes and confectionery are also really intense - in the best sense (e.g. full blast of caramel and white chocolate, great)!

so disappointing,these pasties looked and tasted "mass produced"very oily pastry,nothing like the days at the yellow house when you watched the girls producing small batches and bought them fresh from the oven

Best cornish pasties I've ever had, very impressed.

Awful, really awful. The steak pasties was doughy, the vegetables were not cooked and very Al dente! We threw the pasties that were unedible in the bin, £11.90 wasted! Never again.

Burnt bottom, bitter after taste. Filling ok, not great. Dissatisfied.

Pasties we're burned all over,it's a cafe to eat in,sign saying please use public toilets outside.... Bought a Ginsters Pasty from coop was better than the 2 I paid £10 for at Anne's Pasties, Looks like it lost its way,from customer service and quality over profit...

Was going to get a pasty here but I ended up buying 3 cakes which was not took bad

Great pasties, at a reasonable price. Very busy shop, so there is limited seating. They sell daily specials as well as other products such as ice creams, drinks, alcohol and cakes.

Bakery making Cornish pastry, sorry roll and a few slices of cake in Lizard village. I tried the Cornish pasty, the sausage roll and a slice of chocolate cake (all good especially the c.p.). Friendly staff, good prices for 5/7 pounds you get a meal.

One of the best pasties I have had

One of THE best pasties anywhere. Lovely small shop with very friendly and helpful staff. Pasties still delicious (started buying them over 30 yrs ago from Ann's house), though since moving to one of the local village shops, they are not quite the same (they were so good we bought Ann's book years ago with her mum's recipe in and have made them at home - still one of the best in the area, but on a par with Gear Farm pasties locally & both now topped by Brays & K's of Redruth. (sorry, not something I ever thought I'd say🫤).

Completely overrated! Ann's Pasties is praised in the travel guide because of the prizes it has won. But maybe that's the problem, effort isn't necessary. The food is of average quality, served carelessly. Above all, the tables are so sticky that even the best cleaning products are no longer of any use. So if you buy something there, be sure to take it with you and don't stay in the restaurant...

VERY nice pasties these were!!!

Bought 3 pasties from the lizard shop to take away. They were already in a bag so didn't see them until I was ready to eat them that evening. 2 out of 3 were burnt around the edges ( black pasty). They didn't taste very nice. Very disappointed as I've been visiting the lizard for the last 15 years and always had pasties from Ann's.

best pastie EVER! let alone the occasional friday night live music! i came here on a friday morning and got a EXCEPTIONALLY great pastie then later that night wondered past it that night thinking it would be shut and heads some fab cornish music and so went in, little did i know this night would turn into the best night in cornwall. When we’re here there was a solo artist with just his guitar and his voice… but DAMN. he got the audience bobbing. it was LIT. who could have known that the greatest pastie shop would also have the greatest night life in cornwall. EXCEPTIONAL. highly recommend.

Best pasty me and my son have ever had. We tried a few other so called kings of the cornish pasty world whilst in South Cornwall. But Ann's got the tastiest pasty I've had in forever!!! Enjoy!!

Unfortunately the vegan pasty I had from here was very oily and extremely salty. Much better vegan pasties can be found elsewhere.

Stopped here to stock up on goodies before heading home from our holiday. When we got home we realised that one of the cakes were missing, and also we had been given 2 of the same sausage roll even though we asked for 2 different flavours and they were marked differently. Very disappointed as we had spent over £30! What we did have tasted very nice though.

If you’re at the lizard you need to sample Ann’s pasties. Really generous portion and super flaky pastry and lots of filling. Great range of desserts, they taste as good as they look!

Pasties were like warm so cold by the time I'd finished it. I had cheese and onion. It was greasy and couldn't even taste the cheese inside so not a good quality cheese. My kids said they liked the steak pasties but they were dripping with grease. First and last time here. Ps oh yes... the salt.. way too much. I understand its their classic recipe so that won't ever change.

Average pasty, sent the first one back as it burnt on the bottom which they replaced, the second one was okay but I would not recommend.

Tables were dirty and sticky looks nothing like the picture though. Cornish pasties were good size and very tasty.

I have been having pasties here for 34 years, quality and taste and taste Good as ever, 👍

Not the best place. I asked for a flat white coffee, it was just a milky coffee. The pasties were packed full, however, it was so salty and all the juices was burnt to a crisp and stuck to the bottom of the pasty. Won't be going again

Recommended years ago but only just tried it whilst on holiday ....medium steak pasty first class ...& chocolate caramel slice to die for washed down with a nice coffee ...

Woah why such a bad review you may ask ? Well to be honest I thought the pasties had burnt bottoms, and they are a weird mix of flaky and shortcrust pastry, and expensive for a medium pasty £4.95 Gear farm are cheaper and Prima, but hey each to their own. But one let down was when asked for a mohito ( as displayed at the bar) and a half of estrella, no one knew how to make the mohito and no one could tell on the machine how to charge for a half. Hope fully it will get better by the summer.

Only average coffee from a machine. Pasties great. Nice inside and seating outside. Not a great view unfortunately. A car park.

The cost of living definitely was noticed. A year ago (June 2022), We brought large pasty n a large cheese/onion pasty, very tasty loads of beef chunks, potatoes, n swede. Melted chesse for the vegetarian version.Brought 5 pasties partly cooked for freezing. When we return back (Oct 2023), we look forward to the best pasties in England so disappointed. Price up by £1 far enough, but the Strink flation kicked in, about 5 small pieces of beef, very salty probably added MSG to enchance the flavour and the cheese/,onion version - the cheese still shredded inside the pastry not melted. I wouldn't mind paying a £2 increase if the standard of quality was still there. Only one positive the pastry was still flakey! Went to a chain in Cornwall called Philps in Helston and St. Micheal Mount had better filling and pepperly. Warrens in Cornwall was the same par of Annie's (Greggs equivalent) but at least cheaper when we tried in Falmouth. I give Annie's one last go next year. Hopefully, it was an off day.

Do not buy from this company. Terrible heavy tasteless pastry. No meat inside,mean interior size badly cooked conveyer belt style tasteless dry. On top of which very very overpriced and over hyped. Never buy again. Not good.

Me and my Family always go too Ann's for Cornish Pasties. It's lovely, Clean and the Staff here are always Friendly, Helpful and are always up for a Friendly Cornish Chat. Pram and Wheelchair Access is Good. And Ann's Ice Cream Shop on the side of Ann's Pastie Shop was out of this world too. Thank You very much, Ann's Pasties.

Amazing pasties, but tables need wiping down. Tables stickier than a Yates bar carpet.

Ordered two medium steak pasties, received maybe 6 small cubes of beef between the two of them. So much onion my partner gave up halfway through If they hadn’t come with £4 pints I would have been extremely disappointed

Lovely place to go get your fresh out of the oven pasties and sausage rolls, highly recommend the Black pudding, apple and thyme sausage roll (eaten piping hot whilst looking out to sea from the beautiful lizard point)

Me and my daughter bought 4 medium steak pasties, at her new shop so was very much looking forward to it, as we hadn't had one for sometime. We were both very disappointed as they weren't what we remembered. The contents were dry and very salty and peppery, we couldn't believe it, so shocked. I do wonder if it was due to us buying at the shop and not her house/garage. Did someone else make them, I don't know, lots of questions!!!! Sorry Ann they used to be so juicy, and definitely not salty or Peppery.

Yes, yes and yes. This is all I can say 🤩 tried 3 Cornish pasty so far in my trip through Cornwall and I think it was the best so far. The dough is excellent and the filling was really on point (tried the cheese one).

I remember when these where the gold standard of Cornish Pasties. It seems they have changed chef’s or something but they are not what they used to be. Too much onion, too little taste. The meat was also clumpy and there was no gravy at all. Hope they get back to what they were and that I had a bad batch. I wish them all the best as a staple of my home village.

Epic pasty. 9.5/10. Did not disappoint. Salt and pepper turned up to 11… perhaps too salty? Best meat chunks in a pasty I‘ve had, but I much preferred the one I had room temp to the one storming hot from the oven. I had two mediums over 5 hours and I am stuffed, and I have the nickname Food Hoover so make of that what you will. Will try another Ann’s in a week or so to see if they retain my #1 Cornish Pasty. The best Cornish pasties! Not only the pastry dough is delicious but the filling is so rich and juicy. 10/10 they are huge so the price for the medium fare (go large if you are sharing or extras hungry!)

The best pastries I have ever tried so far 😊 we took medium size and they were really filling. The pastries were full of flavor. Highly recommended if you are planning to visit this are. In picture is medium size, coronation chicken filling

I dont like pasties but my other half told me I had to try there pasties as these nothing like Cornwall's pasties , it was nice , the steak was mid/rare which I have never seen before there wasn't to much Gravy which was amazing , lots of onions but I love onions , so we'll done you one me on that , nice sitting area.

Best pasties I've eaten by far in Cornwall. Pastry was just amazing and the steak quality superb. Cannot fault and will definitely return for more when passing lizard again. This lady has mastered the quality of her cooking. The cakes were brilliant, fresh and not dry at all. Loved the carrot cake. Everything was very tasty, presented well and friendly service.

Ideally placed by the free parking area, open airy feeling in shop with seats outside and pleasant staff. Only issue I have is the economical meat in the pasties. Not just my opinion, others in group said the same. Lovely pasty, crispy outside, yummy inside . . . but meat is not up to usual expectations of how much you get in a pasty. Seems they have moved onto tourist recipe already! On this experience, I’ll get my pasties elsewhere. . .

I think the pasties are lovely. Just below Gear Farm which is a 10 star to be honest. But Ann's doesn't disappoint. Also I am absolutely in love with their brownies! Best I've ever had in my life! I, also, really really like their sausages rolls! Overall not bad at all! I have had a couple instances of fair customer service but I also almost always have some really wonderful customer service and they normally have smily and friendly staff. I have learnt to call ahead and order in case they are out. I usually go to Helston. Only been to Lizard once. A bit pricy as well unfortunately, but will keep going back and will keep recommending.

Disappointed we have been in the Lizard area for over two weeks and by early afternoon they have been sold out of vegan pasties and today everything was gone by 3pm. Seems poor business strategy as we ve just had two bank holiday weekends and this also happened last year regularly too when we were here for a month, most days sold out way too early. Other than that when you can get one decent pasties.👍

We decided to drive from Exeter and get to the lizard for opening time (2.5 hours). Bought 2 warm pasty’s and 5 cold for family back home. All tasted amazing. After a walk to kynance cove we came back and had the most amazing ice cream. Highly recommend. You can’t buy 5 pasty’s for a £1 at the supermarket let alone 5 for £1 at this quality.

Honestly the best pasty I've ever had. So tasty! Amazing filling and pastry.

Delicious pasties, and larger than we were expecting! The dining area/bar had a welcoming atmosphere and a view into the village. Only complaint was that the opening times on Google/Facebook didn't match reality - we came here just after 10 on a Sunday, only to find they weren't open until 11:15 :( came back later in the day and it was well worth the wait.

First of all, let me start by saying I live in Cornwall. I have eaten many pasties from many different purveyors and for the most part they have been 'OK'. Anne's Pasties are the best I have every eaten!! I went on a nice sunny day in the middle of February on a Sunday after noon time. The shop was about to close up for the day but even still, pleasant service and oh what a treat. Thanks so much and I will visit again when I drive to the Lizard again..
