This is a really lovely place to eat, it as been refurbished and all the food os made from Scratch proper food and staff are friendly, welcoming and really helpful

Food has gone down hill good for a beer that’s about it will not be eating there agen

It's been a couple of years since we've been here but it was nice to find the new owners have gone back to making it the country pub it always used to be. Good home cooked food, good choice of hand pulled beers and ciders and friendly service. After chatting to the new landlady she obviously knows what this pub should be, and is definitely achieving it. We now think of it as a place to go again rather than a place to miss as it was for the last few years.

I reserved a table for my birthday as I was very impressed with the overwhelming good reviews. Upon arrival, it took the only working waitress almost 25minutes to give us our menu’s. She did apologise after we had to ask for them. It seemed she was most interested in the regulars and idle chit-chat. Two of us ordered the broccoli and stilton soup for starters. After the waitress realised neither of us had eaten any of it, they removed it from our bill. The soup tasted like broccoli water. For mains, I ordered the cottage pie. The vegetables were mush and weirdly very sweet. The meat gravy was nice, however, the cottage pie was ridiculously gamy and the potatoes didn’t even taste of potatoes. They tasted of just butter. The overall meal was relatively cheap and other people at my table did enjoy their food (such as the fish and chips and halloumi fries). Maybe just avoid the soups and cottage pie. Update: two of us got food poisoning after eating here.

Sunday dinner was amazing home cooked food and Yorkshire pudding. Emma and the girls were attentive and friendly. Enjoyed it so much went back again today.

Warm friendly greeting on entering. Service was second to none. Enjoyed Sunday lunch, portion size very generous, home cooked food presented and tasted beautiful. Will definitely be going again and an extra plus was dog friendly

Was looking fwd to visiting but noticed in reviews, Dog Friendly. We checked by phone if dogs were in fact allowed inside. Yes they are! I'm surprised at this as in my opinion, animals and food service don't go together. The potential for stress and conflict as dog owners take over the space is off putting. We won't be visiting. Pity as this used to be a nice pub. Rethink this policy please.

Popped in for Sunday lunch, and I must say we thoroughly enjoyed it. Reasonably priced ad the staff were very friendly. We'll definitely return and look for forward to sitting in the beer garden when the nicer weather returns.

Beautiful home made food no matter what we have. Owner and staff friendly and welcoming. They are dog friendly too. Seating area outside lovely in warmer weather. Good size Carpark!

Nice polite staff, nice atmosphere, food very good

Great hospitality couldn't ask for better staff, the food was delicious too. The only downfall was that the only baby change available is in the women's toilets which is not ideal if your a single dad with a baby.

Been going here quite sometime now for dinner on Sundays. It's under new management and the food is still on point. Staff are very polite and friendly.

We had a fantastic meal at the Anne Arms Inn! The steak pie was absolutely delicious – tender, flavorful, and packed with filling, all wrapped in a perfect pastry. The portions were generous, and it was comfort food at its finest. To top it off, we indulged in the rhubarb crumble for dessert, which was the perfect balance of sweet and tart, with a delightful crunchy topping. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you're looking for a hearty, satisfying meal in Doncaster!

New landlords in a very special pub.

Just discovered this lovely oldy worldy quaint pub. Had a lovely Sunday roast here today. Lots on the plate and very tasty. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. We'll certainly be back.

Lovely food..... congratulations to chef! The staff, the one young lady we met, was efficient, friendly and had a lovely sense of humour! The visit was because this was my local in the 1960s..... what a transformation!

Came here last night with a friend. We both had Cajun chicken. The meal was cooked perfectly, the homemade chips were a pleasant change to the usual frozen chips you get in other pub restaurants and the home made coleslaw was delicious. Portion size was very good too. The atmosphere was homely and all the staff were really lovely and made us feel welcome. Definitely recommend and I will be returning in the future. Thank you to all the staff for an enjoyable evening⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Poor shocking service... waited for at least twenty mins to then be asked what burger was orded... the food tasted awful like it wasn't fresh paid £27.90 will not come again just pure waste sad to see a nice place so poor

Perfect, just perfect. If you decide to have some food you won't come away hungry. Try them I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We stopped for lunch on our way from Scotland to Norfolk. I booked the Ann Arms largely because it was around half way and is dog friendly. The food was excellent and - as is often the case in Yorkshire - in huge portions. A lovely traditional pub, good service and tasty food!

I cannot praise this place enough! Beautiful food & lovely, attentive staff. I was out with my wife, family (& grandson). We asked a local where we might go & he recommended Anne Arms... I'm so pleased he did. Well deserved recommendation.

The venue is great, the people are lovely. Frankie was looking after our table of 9 tonight and she was outstanding.

Dinner was fine and took note of intolerances/ allergies. There are odd one steps on the ground floor so help may be needed for access if you are in a wheelchair but the atmosphere was great it was quiz night and a lot of laughs were had.

It doesn't look much from the outside but a warm welcome, efficient friendly service and a massive slice of delicious steak pie with perfectly cooked veg wait on the inside (other options are available). Make sure you're hungry when you go because you won't be when you leave. Definitely on my list to go back.

The plates, cutlery, and glasses were still extremely dirty when handed to the table. The service was horrific. Never coming in again.

Been a long time since we've eaten here, went for Sunday lunch. Great food and portions and staff on hand to help with a friendly smile, well worth a visit and reasonably priced. Will be back soon.

Me and my friend had the Chicken Parma tonight. If you haven't tried it, I would definitely recommend it. Absolutely beautiful. Service 100%.

Good food and service. We had the steak pie and the lamb shank. The latter being especially good. More than adequate portions, especially with the pie! Food prices towards the top end for pub grub. Let down by the lack of availability of a hand pulled beer and the city centre pricing of the IPA. Good car park and easy to reach from the A1 or A19 for those travelling.

Used to come here all the time. Its not what me and the family remember, we ordered our food and unfortunately we sent it back as it was all cold. The meals then were served to us again piping hot. 100% microwaved as my plate was the exact same as I left it. When we returned the meals you would think the waitress would take away they gravy jugs as they would then go cold, so then we were left with cold gravy to go with our microwaved meals. Idk. I would advise on the chef to use a kitchen probe and front of house team to have some training. And also maybe clean the room ceilings as they were full of cobwebs.

Went for a meal at Anne Arms Inn to celebrate our 61st wedding anniversary the steaks we had was fantastic staff also and a kind gentleman paid for our meals thank you once again. x

Was seated by a nice young lady and order taken waitress seemed knowledgeable about the menu but forgot sauce when asked and had to ask anotherwaitress. Food came suet pudding with mash and peas delicious. Burgers fabulous chips disgusting limp,greasy inedible.

I’ve been to this establishment many of times. They advertise food as being homemade, but not all items on the menu are, such as the kids pizza (frozen) and chicken goujons (frozen) My most recent visit resulted in me having to send my Lasagne back twice for being cold in the middle. In addition the ciabatta was so overcooked it was like rock. Baring in mind the lasagne went back twice they didn’t change it,they sent the same one out. Simply, if you want good food, and good value for money there are plenty of other options in the local area such as Dario’s, Thornhurst, Burghwallis and Owston.

Lovely pub,nice atmosphere,friendly staff apart from one waitress who appeared bossy to the 2 younger waitresses and was abrupt. Food arrived quite quickly and was nice apart from my steak not cooked as requested.Chips were lovely but would've preferred onion rings than fried onions. I felt the peppercorn sauce wasn't worth the cost and wasn't that nice as it tasted sweet. Apart from that it was a nice meal

Saturday fourth of November. Steak and kidney suet pie was cold in the middle mashed potatoes didn’t have a taste peas were nice though. My partners chicken curry came with half a chicken breast just slopped on top of the curry. Just going back to the sweet pie they took it back and reheated it then I had a job to eat the crust as it was too hard.

First time dining here in many years and a few month after the new owners took over. I will not be returning. My partner had a steak which was asked for medium and it came well done. I ordered a Wagyu burger which came cooked within an inch of its life, lacked flavour, served on bone dry bread with cheese so plastic not even the 400°c the burger had been cooked at could melt it. The chips and cheesy onion rings were nice. If a chef can't cook a steak or a burger correctly which are staples of pub grub then this place has no hope. If you're looking for decent food in the area go to either the Blue Bell in Wentbridge or The Spread in Darrington. Much much better food.

Ordered a fish and chips, fish was very dry and tasteless but chips were nice. Then ordered an apple crumble. The apple was hard and didn't taste of much. One good thing was the waitress was nice and attentive.

Most expensive steak on menu Ribeye so gristley it couldn't be eaten. Manager offered drinks or desserts by way of offsetting cost. There were 2 of us and we both ordered a dessert... got charged for 1 so actually cost us more!! After complaining steak was not up the standard. Such a disappointing experience.

Wir waren total begeistert von dem freundlichen Empfang, denn wir kamen mit unserem Wohnmobil und haben nach einem Übernachtungsstellplatz gefragt. Das war kein Problem und auch zur späteren Uhrzeit noch ein leckeres Essen bekommen! Unser Hund durfte im Weg liegen und wurde noch von anderen Gästen begrüßt. We booked a table for 4 pm most of our party got caught in traffic and were 45 minutes late. The staff was excellent they were friendly and welcoming,the food was Amazing! The portions were generous and we all left full and happy. Also my meal was Gluten Free as I'm wheat intolerant and I had good portions and mu own gravy

I was told a table would be available in 45 minutes. I agree to that I waited 45 minutes. I was told it be another half an hour.. Unfortunately a lot of places stop serving at 4 o’clock, so I was unable to go somewhere else as well

Great welcome lovely service, home cooked steak pie for me and a so-called SMALL PLATE roast beef dinner for my wife was huge!!! Sadly we were just too full to take advantage of the goodies o the dessert menu. So sorry we were only in the are for the day or else we would be back tomorrow.

Just been for our Sunday lunch; I had Turkey and my husband had Beef, Everything was very tasty and I would have eaten every scrap but the huge homemade Yorkshire pudding finished me off xx 😉 Staff were friendly and very attentive too.

Under the new management it's now open at 12.00pm from Tuesdays in the week. Just had a meal and it was fantastic. Good value, lovely place and lovely staff.

UPDATE - 2 YEARS ON Well it’s still an amazing place. Just had Sunday lunch, we were seated and served working 5 mins. Piping hot home made with amazing gravy! Simply cannot fault this place. If you want a proper traditional pub with an open fire, “mind your head” doorways etc with proper traditional home made food then go visit, you won’t be disappointed!!
