Great hospitality couldn't ask for better staff, the food was delicious too. The only downfall was that the only baby change available is in the women's toilets which is not ideal if your a single dad with a baby.

Been going here quite sometime now for dinner on Sundays. It's under new management and the food is still on point. Staff are very polite and friendly.

We had a fantastic meal at the Anne Arms Inn! The steak pie was absolutely delicious – tender, flavorful, and packed with filling, all wrapped in a perfect pastry. The portions were generous, and it was comfort food at its finest. To top it off, we indulged in the rhubarb crumble for dessert, which was the perfect balance of sweet and tart, with a delightful crunchy topping. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you're looking for a hearty, satisfying meal in Doncaster!

New landlords in a very special pub.

Just discovered this lovely oldy worldy quaint pub. Had a lovely Sunday roast here today. Lots on the plate and very tasty. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. We'll certainly be back.

Lovely food..... congratulations to chef! The staff, the one young lady we met, was efficient, friendly and had a lovely sense of humour! The visit was because this was my local in the 1960s..... what a transformation!

Came here last night with a friend. We both had Cajun chicken. The meal was cooked perfectly, the homemade chips were a pleasant change to the usual frozen chips you get in other pub restaurants and the home made coleslaw was delicious. Portion size was very good too. The atmosphere was homely and all the staff were really lovely and made us feel welcome. Definitely recommend and I will be returning in the future. Thank you to all the staff for an enjoyable evening⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Poor shocking service... waited for at least twenty mins to then be asked what burger was orded... the food tasted awful like it wasn't fresh paid £27.90 will not come again just pure waste sad to see a nice place so poor

Perfect, just perfect. If you decide to have some food you won't come away hungry. Try them I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We stopped for lunch on our way from Scotland to Norfolk. I booked the Ann Arms largely because it was around half way and is dog friendly. The food was excellent and - as is often the case in Yorkshire - in huge portions. A lovely traditional pub, good service and tasty food!

The venue is great, the people are lovely. Frankie was looking after our table of 9 tonight and she was outstanding.

Dinner was fine and took note of intolerances/ allergies. There are odd one steps on the ground floor so help may be needed for access if you are in a wheelchair but the atmosphere was great it was quiz night and a lot of laughs were had.

It doesn't look much from the outside but a warm welcome, efficient friendly service and a massive slice of delicious steak pie with perfectly cooked veg wait on the inside (other options are available). Make sure you're hungry when you go because you won't be when you leave. Definitely on my list to go back.

The plates, cutlery, and glasses were still extremely dirty when handed to the table. The service was horrific. Never coming in again.

Been a long time since we've eaten here, went for Sunday lunch. Great food and portions and staff on hand to help with a friendly smile, well worth a visit and reasonably priced. Will be back soon.

Me and my friend had the Chicken Parma tonight. If you haven't tried it, I would definitely recommend it. Absolutely beautiful. Service 100%.

Good food and service. We had the steak pie and the lamb shank. The latter being especially good. More than adequate portions, especially with the pie! Food prices towards the top end for pub grub. Let down by the lack of availability of a hand pulled beer and the city centre pricing of the IPA. Good car park and easy to reach from the A1 or A19 for those travelling.

Had Sunday dinner hear and the food was really good, the service was great. The pub has lots of seating and is really well done out

Used to come here all the time. Its not what me and the family remember, we ordered our food and unfortunately we sent it back as it was all cold. The meals then were served to us again piping hot. 100% microwaved as my plate was the exact same as I left it. When we returned the meals you would think the waitress would take away they gravy jugs as they would then go cold, so then we were left with cold gravy to go with our microwaved meals. Idk. I would advise on the chef to use a kitchen probe and front of house team to have some training. And also maybe clean the room ceilings as they were full of cobwebs.

Pie lovely. Chips frozen and could have been more cooked. Peas spoilt by having sugar in.....but good value for money.

Was seated by a nice young lady and order taken waitress seemed knowledgeable about the menu but forgot sauce when asked and had to ask anotherwaitress. Food came suet pudding with mash and peas delicious. Burgers fabulous chips disgusting limp,greasy inedible.

I’ve been to this establishment many of times. They advertise food as being homemade, but not all items on the menu are, such as the kids pizza (frozen) and chicken goujons (frozen) My most recent visit resulted in me having to send my Lasagne back twice for being cold in the middle. In addition the ciabatta was so overcooked it was like rock. Baring in mind the lasagne went back twice they didn’t change it,they sent the same one out. Simply, if you want good food, and good value for money there are plenty of other options in the local area such as Dario’s, Thornhurst, Burghwallis and Owston.

Lovely pub,nice atmosphere,friendly staff apart from one waitress who appeared bossy to the 2 younger waitresses and was abrupt. Food arrived quite quickly and was nice apart from my steak not cooked as requested.Chips were lovely but would've preferred onion rings than fried onions. I felt the peppercorn sauce wasn't worth the cost and wasn't that nice as it tasted sweet. Apart from that it was a nice meal

Saturday fourth of November. Steak and kidney suet pie was cold in the middle mashed potatoes didn’t have a taste peas were nice though. My partners chicken curry came with half a chicken breast just slopped on top of the curry. Just going back to the sweet pie they took it back and reheated it then I had a job to eat the crust as it was too hard.

First time dining here in many years and a few month after the new owners took over. I will not be returning. My partner had a steak which was asked for medium and it came well done. I ordered a Wagyu burger which came cooked within an inch of its life, lacked flavour, served on bone dry bread with cheese so plastic not even the 400°c the burger had been cooked at could melt it. The chips and cheesy onion rings were nice. If a chef can't cook a steak or a burger correctly which are staples of pub grub then this place has no hope. If you're looking for decent food in the area go to either the Blue Bell in Wentbridge or The Spread in Darrington. Much much better food.

Ordered a fish and chips, fish was very dry and tasteless but chips were nice. Then ordered an apple crumble. The apple was hard and didn't taste of much. One good thing was the waitress was nice and attentive.

Most expensive steak on menu Ribeye so gristley it couldn't be eaten. Manager offered drinks or desserts by way of offsetting cost. There were 2 of us and we both ordered a dessert... got charged for 1 so actually cost us more!! After complaining steak was not up the standard. Such a disappointing experience.

First visit since new owners took o er, we live in Derby, and the food was SO good! Service first class, food piping hot. Best prices too. I had the yummy vegetarian option.

Finally got around to going to Anne Arms for the first time since the new owners took over. Unfortunately it will be the last time. The waitresses didn't seem to know what drinks were available at the bar and how long we'd have to wait for food. Previously you could get a nice hand pulled pint but now you're offered run of the mill bitter or lager like you'd get at an estate pub. If that's your taste then you're ok but it's not for us. There wasn't even any decent cider for the wife. When real ale is more popular than ever a country pub should be able to serve it up. Don't know what the food was like as we didn't stay. Peas all over the floor and a dead wasp under an upturned glass didn't set a good tone. What was a lovely cosy country pub is now no more than an estate pub.

Food was not good Mash like concrete, beans like bullets and fish fingers like rubber left it all, partner had hunters chicken and sauce was like vinegar Waste of money

Wir waren total begeistert von dem freundlichen Empfang, denn wir kamen mit unserem Wohnmobil und haben nach einem Übernachtungsstellplatz gefragt. Das war kein Problem und auch zur späteren Uhrzeit noch ein leckeres Essen bekommen! Unser Hund durfte im Weg liegen und wurde noch von anderen Gästen begrüßt. I was told a table would be available in 45 minutes. I agree to that I waited 45 minutes. I was told it be another half an hour.. Unfortunately a lot of places stop serving at 4 o’clock, so I was unable to go somewhere else as well

We booked a table for 4 pm most of our party got caught in traffic and were 45 minutes late. The staff was excellent they were friendly and welcoming,the food was Amazing! The portions were generous and we all left full and happy. Also my meal was Gluten Free as I'm wheat intolerant and I had good portions and mu own gravy

Great welcome lovely service, home cooked steak pie for me and a so-called SMALL PLATE roast beef dinner for my wife was huge!!! Sadly we were just too full to take advantage of the goodies o the dessert menu. So sorry we were only in the are for the day or else we would be back tomorrow.

Just been for our Sunday lunch; I had Turkey and my husband had Beef, Everything was very tasty and I would have eaten every scrap but the huge homemade Yorkshire pudding finished me off xx 😉 Staff were friendly and very attentive too.

Under the new management it's now open at 12.00pm from Tuesdays in the week. Just had a meal and it was fantastic. Good value, lovely place and lovely staff.

Friday night, no atmosphere, no food I asked what time they closed ? After 7 of us putting a decent amount of money over the bar on wine, shots and shorts ,the landlord said when you all go... 😒 His wife came over to apologise, we won't be back ....

UPDATE - 2 YEARS ON Well it’s still an amazing place. Just had Sunday lunch, we were seated and served working 5 mins. Piping hot home made with amazing gravy! Simply cannot fault this place. If you want a proper traditional pub with an open fire, “mind your head” doorways etc with proper traditional home made food then go visit, you won’t be disappointed!!

Upon arriving, we found the car park was full of potholes but the inside of the pub was clean and decorated in boutique style (with antique cream peony and rose swags in the fireplaces). We agreed that the interior pub seating areas were a little dark in the daytime but nearby conservatory offered more well lit surroundings. Our table for four was a little small and cramped, possibly more suited for two covers. One of our party is coeliac, so noting the “gluten free options” advertised before we arrived, we all were looking to ordering lunch. Sadly the staff informed us that they could not offer our Coeliac party member a meal which was a little awkward and disappointing. Whilst considering the options available, we ordered drinks. Two of the four (cold) drinks that we ordered arrived in reasonable time but we had to wait longer for the coffee to arrive 10 mins later and the last, a tea for one, took about a further 20 mins to arrive. Not good I thought. The pub was not busy. Reconsidering our choices to move elsewhere for a meal, or just have coffee and cake instead, we asked for the menu and the staff, given time, were able to suggest a small selection of cheesecakes and puddings from their menu that were not required for guests who had booked Sunday lunches, so all was not lost. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and pleasant but I felt they were a little too relaxed in attitude to respond to instructions from Management to clear our table of knife and fork cutlery. They seemed to have a happy, pleasant easy rapport between each other, but I really felt the table service all could have been more responsive and better co-ordinated. In summary….weighing up our visit, no (advertised?) coeliac meal options avail and polite but lacklustre table service. Lovely tasty sweet options, (salted caramel and also Eaton Mess strawberry cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake) saved the day but overall, I felt a little underwhelmed.

So tried Ann Arms tonight x lovely food (big portions) Anna who served us wants a big mention (only one who seemed to be running about ) very nice and friendly xx needs a promotion 😉

Visit with the family, driving by and decided to pull in. Bit of a mistake but not terrible. Unfortunately though the review has to mimick their Food Hygiene rating of 2 (Found this out after we ordered but none the less we give people a shot.) Food Daddy - Annes Classic Burger Dry dry and dry some more, its homemade for sure... But sometimes that aint a good thing. On this occasion it was terribly dry, and to add confusion to the dryness.... It was slightly ubdert cooked with patches of pink throughout. The meat was dry, the bun was dry and could explain the need for 4 slices of cheese slapped on in a wedge. The fact it missed the baby gem and tomato on the burger was annoying too, albeit a large side salaf was on the plate but its not the same in a way.... To be fair the burher was removed from the bill. Mommy Rare Rump steak, lets just say that its a good job mommy nornally eats steak blue as this steak was still mooing and trying to walk off the plate, a shame it comes with no side (onion rings ordered extra) and no choice of sauce (peppercorn ordered seperately) but it was enjoyed and edible. The peppercorn sauce definitely had some form of mint in there despite what the chef said when asked. Heinzy Chicken goujons and chips, he ate the peas, a few chips and ketchup, woildnt entertain the goujons and thats fair as they tasted greasy and slighty nasty. The chicken inside was actually okay but unfortunately this was ruined by the coating. The gent behind the bar (Ben?) polite and efificient and just about the only FoH member who knew what was going on. The service was horrendous, clearly all new staff and id guess no experience. Food was brought, and that was it, no check back no nothing, took three attempts to gain someones attention for the undercooked burger, which the manager (?) came out and discussed eventually. The place itself is cosy and old school but needs some attention, i imagine it would be amazing in the winter with the fires roaring etc but maybe just for drinks, food and service needs some work unfortunately. Might try again if they go up for a 2 hygiene rating.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. The food was swimming in gravy with no taste. Being gluten free got told they didn't have no gluten free ,and was spoken to by a woman with bad attitude. Would not recommend this place . Also only 1 very small portion of meat on plate.

First impression the smell of the dining area was really unclean, sat down at table, it was sticky and unclean. Food was ok but on going to toilet heard chef shouting at the young waitress who was clearly upset and that made me feel very uncomfortable. wont be going back.
