Anchor Bar in South Ayrshire

Was over last weekend and had a great day on Sunday at the karaoke. Met up with Arthur and Lynn who we first met when they owned the town hotel

Women that owns it isnt a pleasant women. Went into watch the last old firm and i hadnt had a drink yet and i asked her if the place would get more bizzy nearer football kickoff she said yes than told me she wont be serving me because i look like ive had to much already lol. I thought she was joking but she wasnt. Very bad attitued! I'd go somewhere else she doesnt deserve the custom. If your face doesnt fit your not welcome. I was descusted to be honest. Worst experience ive ever had. Aviod this pub. If your not 50 or over u aint welcome. Descrace.

What a fantastic pub this is. If I could give it more than five stars I really would. Lovely open plan inside full of characters and very welcoming. Lady behind the bar was really friendly and knew her job well! Sensibly priced beer (the tenants is good best lager going in my book) has the racing on and karaoke. I really couldn’t recommend this pub enough! A throwback pub and not enough of them left!! 🍺 🐎👨‍🦳👴🏻👵🎤

Only go there to play darts. No incentive to go otherwise. Toilets are disgusting. No hot water, and are extremely cramped. IF you have a few beers and don't pay attention to the dodgy sign above the gents. .you'll end up with a very sore head.

Have been going to the Anchor Bar for years and never disappointed. Helen the barmaid always makes you welcome.Drink is cheap and white wine always chilled🍸

Ian the barman was very friendly and helpful. Punter's also friendly and down to earth, not for the fainthearted

A very welcoming bar, good selection of drinks available and reasonable prices. Kind of cosy in the evenings. I Highly recommended a visit here, it's not often that you find an old fashioned pub and a cheap one also.

Smashin place. Good pints. There is a secret passage somewhere that old sailors used to use when they got into Ayr at 4 in the morning and fancied a pint. Still to find it though.

The Anchor Bar is the Anchor Bar. Forget luxury. Uffortunately the Gent's are from the last century. But the pub atmosphere is great and the prices very reasonable. Sport on TV, mainly racing and football, but kept quiet. No music apart from MTV, not too loud. If bogs were sorted it would have 5 stars.

More of a man's pub in my opinion but I did feel welcome by the staff and customers alike. Ok for a starting place pub as the prices are good.
