Anand Sweets in Leeds

Today,I went for breakfast and ordered Halwa Puri.First of all,the food was cold and ghee/oil whatever used in halwa, was not good and smelly. It's my 2nd visit in this restaurant because l got good food last time. So I was expecting the same taste in the food.

Absolutely great food and professional service.

I recently ordered a dosa, and it took an unreasonable 45 minutes for the food to arrive. I’m not sure if the kitchen is struggling with the order volume or if something went wrong with the preparation, but this delay was quite disappointing. I expected much quicker service, especially for a dish like dosa that typically doesn’t take so long to prepare. I hope the restaurant improves their speed and efficiency in handling orders moving forward.

Really gives the home feel here in Leeds.

One thing needs to be updated, they should put a banner that the last food order is 10:00 PM . Can't get food besides sweets literally an hour before the shown closing time, 11:00 PM.

Arrived at Leeds, and was the first place I visited with my family. Yumm food. Worth coming here during uni term time

Decent food according to price. Tbh I was little upset… as soon as i hit the anand sweets I can’t recall his name … that marvellous boy…. Ahhaaan davinder He was so hospitable and very attending. Just made my day beautiful…. Heartwarming.

It's much better than the Harehills branch. Good customer service. Do not have to wait for food. Please do visit to this place , very authentic Indian vegetarian food.

Absolutely amazing food and service all the time every time.

I found a hair in my masala dosa,which is unacceptable. Please ensure better hygiene in food preparation and recently "I ordered a spicy masala dosa, but the spiciness was concentrated in just one bite, leaving the rest of it mild. The spice level should be evenly distributed throughout the dish”. The kitchen team often fails to provide good service and good food, alwayyyssss!!!

Great Vegetarian Authentic Indian Food on a Budget

Expanted recently. But very much delayed service.even for possible ready to eat items. Servers Could not handle too many orders and crowd.

Tasty vegetarian food, great value and with friendly service. Don't be put off by the basic decor, it's clean with fast service which was great for us. We were at a venue near by and ate there twice over the weekend as it was so good ( brunch and dinner) plus we bought snacks from the shop and had some of the yummy sweet selection.

Nice little place to have authentic Indian breakfast.

Waited 30 minutes for 2 naan bread which turned out cold in the end. It looked very hectic after their renovation and was full of delivery services that i couldn't get to the till properly.

i am enjoying food & sweets from anand sweets from last 2 years .. taste & service is on point but every-time there is this one girl throws random attitude .. today i went for buying rakhi & asked if rasmalai ingredients to consume it on fast or no .. this same girl was on counter rolled her eye & responded very poorly with attitude .. no other thoughts but otherwise all good 👍🏻

It clearly shows shop closes at 11:00pm and we got there by 10:30 and we were not served. Disappointed.

Service - It’s a no frills place, we’re not expecting red carpet silver spoon service but the staff are absolutely lovely, super friendly, super attentive and just overall really nice. Atmosphere - No frills place full of local people wanting to enjoy some delicious food, recently undergone a refurb and is genuinely a really nice place to eat! Food - Food was absolutely superb, not a single note for it just wonderful all round. Value - insanely good value, some of the tastiest curries I’ve had for like £6? Where can you find such flavour for these prices in Leeds anymore? You simply can’t! Halwa puri - We didn’t realise this was a breakfast item and not really something to order as part of a regular evening meal. No matter, it was really delicious. Delicately crispy puri with the delicious sweet halwa and beautifully spiced chickpeas and vegetables. Works so so well, the intense sweetness and the curried vegetables you would think don’t match, they do! They absolutely do. Really really gorgeous, definitely a great breakfast food. Saag kofta - the saag sauce was delicate but packed with flavour, very spinachy but not at all slimey. Tasted really fresh and the spices just sang through the sauce. So good. Perhaps the koftas were a little too soft for my personal taste but really delicious all the same. Shahi paneer - really beautiful heavily seasoned gravy with delicate but firm and fresh paneer pieces. Often times paneer can be so hard and dense, this tasted fresh, light and blended so well with the gravy. So so so so good. Allo bengan - the star of the show for me without a doubt, this was so good. The smokiness of the aubergines providing the base flavour for the dish, with soft but toothsome flavourful onions. Omg this is so good my words don’t do justice. This, mixed with some rice, with a little lime pickle mopped up with some chapati. It’s over. Amazing place overall, you have to try here now!

Homestyle food Indian food. That's the only good thing about this restaurant. Sweets quality could be better, however hot food is good.

Drove all the way here today (10/07/24) to get some samosas and pakoras for the match and they’ve put the shutters down and closed up! It’s 20:00, they’re advertised to be open until 23:00 on google!!! This is completely unacceptable behaviour! At least have the decency to amend your opening hours on google if you’re going to randomly decide to shut up shop early! FOR THE MANAGER’S ATTENTION (because you had the audacity to respond saying I was referring to your other branch and that my review was incorrect): I AM REFERRING TO THE QUEEN’S ROAD BRANCH (I am a customer for well over a decade, I know all your branches very well thank you so do not try to make out that I am wrong - to do so is just grossly unprofessional on your part.)!!! IF YOU ARE CLOSED FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN YOUR STATED/ADVERTISED HOURS ON GOOGLE E.G. for REFURBISHMENT YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR GOOGLE OPENING HOURS TO “TEMPORARILY CLOSED”! Stop being unprofessional and rectify your mistake! Do not try to blame the customer! *Edit*: they have now amended their opening hours to ‘Temporarily Closed’ because of my review 😊! Still no apology for their completely inappropriate response to my initial review but hey, this is something at least!

The food is nice ,Harehills branch better ,service is terrible ,they are ignorant and rude ,to eat in is very expensive .

Vegan food options available here, staff are friendly and the food is really nice. Customer service is amazing and there is quite a variety.

Have been a dozen times or more for lunch and evening meals. Fabulous value and lovely food. Service always very polite and friendly. Recommend for a no fuss great feed 100%

Authentic North Indian vegetarian food. Outstanding service. In 4.99 the thali had two bhaturas, rice, two curries, poppadum and pickle. Cannot fault the service. Prompt, respectful and smiley. We were served by Gagan, who was outstanding all service with a smile. I work for NHS but with construction on at home was in tatty clothes, but still their service was brilliant. it appeared that they respected the customer not their appearance. Would go their again and would highly recommend to try at least once ( having eaten at almost all Indian restaurants in Leeds and Bradford). Thanks Anand's Team.

Food wasn’t that great or may be I had greater expectations. Dosa was bland. Pav bhaji was good. Samosa was also very normal.

I ordered a thali. It had no flavor, just like hospital food which is for patients—no salt, no spice...just a mixture of salt and water.

Amazing value , great vegetarian food.

Food is tasty but hygienically they are worst. I have seen the waitress to pick up used tissue from the floor and wiping the table with that same tissue and then she collected the food scattered on the table in an eating bowl.

If you are an indian and expecting the experience of an indian street food, I would not recommend going. However if you want to have a look at what indian food might look like, give it a go. Probably I was expecting way too much and hence dis appointed. Daal kachori: was decent but the chutneys I think were ready made and bought from super market. Chutney did not have the taste you would expect to be served with a kachori. Dahi bhala: was ok. However not keen on trying it the second time. Pav Bhaji : was really dis appointing. It seemed like some peas on a mix veg loaded with just turmeric. It was nothing but a home made sabji. The veggies in the pav bhaji were not mashed and the chef seemed to have missed to add the pav bhaji masala itself. I didn't sense any garlic or ginger paste in it. Pav bhaji was really really disappointing. Shahi paneer : again if u have had a real one in india, you could easily tell the difference. Appeared to be a shahi paneer but didn't taste like one. Go once if you miss the indian menu and have a look. Won't recommend to try it. Sorry for review.

The food is ok but the portions are very small!!! I got a thali but was hungry even after finishing it!

I had my reservations given the mixed reviews (customer service is so important to me) but we wanted some food before going to the Hyde Park Picture House today so we popped in. Not only were the samosas absolutely divine and very reasonably priced, but the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We'll definitely be returning.

It was nice when they first opened this branch at ls6. but service has really gone down now. Few weeks ago I went in to have a snack with my friend but place was really busy all the table were full.We thought it might be some festive day so we can order take out. The waitress was so rude she just said sorry there is no free table and you have to wait really long for take out. Might as well just say on the door “ no take outs allowed if Dine In is full”. Went again for a samosa chat. it was very dry.

Enjoyed the food, perfectly tasty and reasonable priced. Dishes were served at different times across the table which could be inconvenient for some but for a few friends talking and eating this was perfectly fine. There were some quite demanding customers in at the same time as us. We went on a Saturday night and didn't need to wait for a table but it was busy.

I come here for Samosas, Indian sweets, Thali and frozen paneer. Always enjoy the food. My son loves the daal and chai. Cheap, tasty vegetarian food. Never disappoints.

I visited this place yesterday I ordered Plain dosa it was good but request you to please make it soft next time. Then I ordered Dahi bhalla it was amazing 😍 then we ordered shahi paneer and methi paratha it was delicious 😋 And also we ordered Samosa it was freshly made will visit again..... Raghav

Went to Anand Sweets just for some soan papdi, but seeing the menu, decided to try their veg varieties. If you're craving delicious Indian flavors, this is the place. In a group of 5, we enjoyed aloo paratha, paneer paratha, pulao rice, matar paneer, masala dosa, masala tea, pani puri, garlic naan, and more. Words can't describe how tasty and affordable it was—we paid only 57 pounds. The interior is well-maintained, and the service is friendly. Overall, an extremely satisfying experience.

Yum Yum Yum! Affordable and delicious special thali, good variety of dishes. Mixed Paratha was served nice and hot, tasted great too!

Good authentic Indian sweets and snacks that are incredibly well priced and for that reason alone have to give this place 5 Stars, some of the main curry dishes have a little left to be desired in flavour but that is a petty criticism at best. I would recommend anyone near Harehills or Hyde Park to visit. Very good Vegan options.

Service was disaster , the waitress was not behaving well.rude attitude of the waitress ,we came to celebrate my friends birthday but it was worst experience we ordered Dahi balla , two portion veg samosa, shahi paneer, chapatis, chana masala , bhatura. I bought Dahi Bada from this shop on Tue 03/10/23. I felt sickly and vomited afterwards. Realised even yogurt was smelling and was spoilt. Wouldn't recommend to buy.

The staff, food and service are all excellent specially compared to the Harehills branch. Staff are very polite and helpful. I am glad I don’t need to go to Harehills branch any more

Went to Purchase some Rasmalai and other Indian sweets and as I was paying, my daughter and her friend wanted a Samosa to eat, so I got 2 samosas. There was plenty of tables free to sit on as it wasn’t very busy and my daughter and her friend sat down to eat their Samosas. The guy that served us came over and told my daughter and her friend that they’re not allowed to sit down and eat their samosas. Very disappointed with that service. It just doesn’t make sense. We have purchased food from Anand Sweet and they treat their customers like this . Not good customer service at all the owner of the Anand sweet should be ashamed of employing staff that this.

Yesterday I tried bhindi masala and roti from here .. great taste and quality.. soft rotis amazing taste and you get feeling of home food . Highly recommended.. Must try..

Thali is best option and tastes good at a reasonable price. This restaurant takes a lot of time to serve your dish, be patient when you order food. May be the only place I found Thumsup and other Indian beverages and Snacks in leeds.

The worst experience ever. Had been standing here for like over 30 min for take away. The customers after us have been served before and I had to constantly come and remind them for our order which was just of 2 parathas. The worst service ever. Will never be visiting again.

Food is delicious as ever but staff attitude ruin my mood for visit again. Staff making fun of customers behind till, And showing attitude. And it turn to became worst experience ever.

I went at this place with my friends. The place was clean and nice and service was fine also. We ordered various Indian dishes but found none of them had good taste or quality. Then we decided to have desserts, which disappointed us a lot as well. The desserts like milk cake and gajar halwa were sour and not good looking either. When we complained about this to the person at the counter, he rudely dismissed it saying maybe the sweet dishes were old. I will not recommend going to this place for Indian food or sweets.

Anand sweets is the best Indian food in Leeds! However the staff and Hyde park branch are pathetic! Service is very slow even when the place is empty. They don't know what's on the menu. They will Bill incorrectly and are skiving! Ordering one paratha takes 40 minutes when the place is empty and charge you more then on menu if not careful. If you are doing a takeaway check your order, they will miss things out and it seems almost intentional. The food is still great but you need to do something about the staff! There are like 5 people behind the counter and who knows how many in kitchen when the place is empty, not working, gossiping or don't have a clue about whats going on and making customers wait forever! Been billed incorrectly twice!!! Very unprofessional DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BILLS HERE! Note to owners ... Please look into this before the staff spoil Anand sweets reputation (we love Anand Sweets) Update : Since my last review, the services and staff have changed and drastically improved. Food is a bit hit & miss still but massive improvements seen

All of their Thallis are good, value for money and will fill your belly. in their regular menu have tried Malai Kofta, utterly flop receipe, may be good for locals, but not an authentic Malai Kofta. Though batura was good :) Have also tried their assorted milk sweets, all sweets taste similar except for the flavor change. Overall, if you're hungry and wanna have some Indian Thalli, good place with authentic flavor (thalli only)

Aloo parathas with raita and masala chai both very nice, didn't feel rushed and comfortable to sit inside. Good for a solo asian food fix or as a couple, groups of people, table water nice touch 👍 well done guys

Amazing food and amazing staff.

Objectively the most awful Indian food I have ever eaten, possibly the worst food I’ve ever eaten. The paneer pakora is more batter than paneer, the shahi paneer is more reminiscent of Shiv Sagars tomato soup with soggy croutons, and the naan seems to be as processed, if not more than McDonalds. The one redeeming feature is the chutney. A disappointing end to what was so far a perfect night. The Sainsburys Indian cuisine line offers more flavour than this and it’s definitely not 15 pounds for 2. To add to this I would like to say, shame on everyone from the diaspora that gave this place positive reviews, we were starving from a long day of grocery shopping and have been subjected to this.

Delicious food and polite staff

This is a genuine feedback that I am sharing about this restaurant. The staff taking and serving the order was really polite and soft spoken. So that was the good part. But the food wasn't up to the mark. I visited this restaurant today along with a friend of mine. We ordered a couple of things out of which Veg Thali was one of them. Rice and curry was okay but the chapati (roti) was absolutely not. The rotis were not properly baked. We immediately asked the staff to call the chef but the staff got back and said that the chef is busy. Now with this, one can figure out the level of professionalism this restaurant has in its staff. The restaurant offered me to change the chapati but that's definitely not a solution and hence I myself didn't accepted that offer. Also in the bread pakoda that was served as a starter the taste of mint was pretty high in the inside stuffing which definitely is not an Indian style. I request the owner not to take any strict action on its chef rather give a proper instruction to improve things next time onwards. Lastly this is an advice, a genuine one to the restaurant that if you have started a business in the name of an Indian one please do maintain the authentic Indian standards too so that every Indian who visits your store takes pride in having your food and carries back good memories which in turn takes him/her to your place next time again.

This place is closest to our house, also we heard about this place form our friends, we think let's give it a shot. The starter bread pakora we had was having filling of potatoes and mint, which was only taste we are getting, Puri bhaji and sheera was ok, the lassi i ordered was slated flavour which was the best thing in the whole order. N the dahi bhalaa was also having more taste of mint sauce, i don't know why but they put mint in both the starters which I disliked, any way the staff behaviour was good, service is also good, ambiance is you can say it's an small to medium size restaurant where nearly 30-40 people can seat and eat. All over if you are an authentic Indian food lover you find the food ok.

A new place that opened a fresh days back but has the same delicious vegetarian food of the older branch. The halwa Puri is good. Enjoyed my food!!

As good as Harehills. Cracking samosas, lovely pakoras, and decent value delicious sweets.
