The Dexter in Leeds

We come here regularly. Scampi chips and peas were brilliant. Had haddock and chips and peas full of flavour and nice and hot. The staff are polite and friendly as per usual. We come here nearly every 7-10days. Good food good service what more do you need.

Lisa is always friendly and helpful. She ensured customers are satisfied with any orders.

Jodie is one of the most hard Working,conscientious,is always willing to go the extra mile and always has time for customers

Great food, dog friendly and nice service. Even on a payday Friday night food was good and delivered hot.

From the moment we walked in, it all went wrong. Meet and great zero , seat not as requested, food ordered not available had to reorder all dishes, food terrible and service, well we had to wait over. 1.5 hours for food.

Absolutely lovely afternoon enjoying excellent food at the Dexter being well looked after by Danni. We will definitely be back.

Went for first time today. Great value, lovely cooked steak, well presented. Great carpark,none of the number plate insert details - free parking. Good service.

Ordered food at 6:15pm, told might be 45min wait.........1hr 20mins later food arrived after asking where it was.. they must have forgot about it, chips were cold, chicken schnitzel over done, almost burnt, fish & chips nothing special.... Pub was busy, but not with food orders..... Very disappointed.

Amazing food but best of all the service from Kyle was beyond outstanding, made our night with his humour and smile. Top staff thank you Kyle, deffo deserve a pay rise ☺️

I have had to amend my review following my recent visits with my family there . Service is atrocious now and has gone downhill. Food is average . Too much swearing from a group between us and the bar - embarrassing for staff and my 7 year old granddaughter and my daughter. Manager should have taken action . Menu changed twice - we were only told after a 40-50 min wait . They did offer a complimentary drink but we were there to eat not to drink . Took nearly 2 hours to entering and leaving the pub , having only gone for a burger . Pub wasn’t that busy either . We entered the pub at 520pm . A very disappointed visit. I have been going there for 10 years now but things seem to be on the slide . Sad.

Trawled internet to find fish and chip delivery near me ,on New year's Day ,no luck.Then I remembered the Dexter,my local, does deliveries. Just 30 minutes from ordering on line,two fish n chip meals, delvered by Just Eat , hot, fresh and as nice a haddock as I have ever tasted .Thank you Dexter, made my New Year!

Went there today for boxing day lunch (prebooked). After waiting over a hour my husband went to the bar to ask when they were going to start serving, a person behind the bar asked if we had prebooked told her yes, she went to look said it hadn't been uploaded onto the system and they would sort it straight away, 5 minutes later a server came to tell us that one of the starters we'd ordered we couldn't have as the prawns were already mixed with the sauce, we threw the towel in then and asked for our deposits back which we were given with apologies from the server but it was not her fault, it was the fault of the manager for not doing the job properly. I am extremely upset about this as my husband and I were taking our daughter and grandchildren out for lunch had they'd not had a dinner christmas day.

We had our Christmas Dinner, from the start the welcome was warm and we were seated promptly. The team really looked after us, they ensured we had all we needed, the food was very nice and the starters were a real hit. Thanks for making the day.

Must admit went to Dexter with a friend last week Wednesday 23rd October food ace we had a 3course, I ordered an ice cream for desert 3scoops in a large glass, I went again with a friend on Friday lunch had a 2course, ordered an ice cream only a scoop n half in a small dish well dissatisfied, more like a child's portion! Im coming there again on Friday 29th November for my friends birthday quite a few of us il make sure I mention it when I'm there Maggie !

Not been for years. But will certainly be back. Mixed grill was just about perfect and scampi was also delicious

Great food and staff .could do with a lick of paint

A nearby pub where you can have good food and drink in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

We used to love coming here it was great food, great beer, great service. Today the service was very late (an hours wait without prior warning) the items we ordered turned out not to be available anymore, and we had to change our order. The preordered deserts again did not arrive for another half hour and then were not great - plus we were given custard when we had ordered ice cream, but by then had lost the will to complain. The beer was good. But nevertheless, I don’t think we will be back.

Cold drink and good company can’t go wrong with simplicity

Enjoyed the meal , waiting time was long at bar and waiting a long time for the food to arrive, also short of certain foods

1. Messed up food order - all ate separate. 2.Child's main was ordered to come out with starters and didn't. 3. One of our party's choice of starter was out of stock. Part of main unavailable and substitute side unavailable aswell. 4.When messed up food order eventually came, chips were hard. THIS IS WHERE THE FUN STARTS😡....went to complain to the so called manager, no apology or even recognition for their chain of mistakes, no offer of refund or reduction or even free dessert. Nothing. Eventually a refund for the pre paid desserts was given but this only happened because another table also complained about their food which we overheard as we were leaving and the rude manager had, had enough by this point. Rude staff, rude manager, poor service and food. Don't waste your money people.

Just had lunch...all the doors wide open and very cold and drafty. Soup was only lukewarm.

I drive past this place, every day, on my way to work, but have never called in before. Now I’m kicking myself! Had a wonderful Sunday lunch today, they fitted in seven of us at short notice, and the food was fantastic (beef on the bone was spot on) I can’t wait to go again Definitely, definitely would recommend Thank you

A ember inn and has a loyalty card. Good value for money. Big choice of menu. A very nice place with lots of tables. Would go again if it was closer to home.

Food took a long time to arrive and very short of staff

The staff are always very pleasant here. It's an OK place to go to, but it's desperately in need of modernisation inside and out. It looks extremely tired and lacks ambience. The location is great. The car park is huge . There's plenty of seating inside.

Booked a table but then got told 45 min wait for food. Was closer to an hour with one wrong order and half of meal missing which was brought after first half finished. Food mediocre at best. Things generally overcooked. Dessert order also messed up and came late. Only redeeming thing was biscotti dessert. Staff on bar great. Wouldn’t rush back

Food is spot on but service is slow

New and improved menu. Good portion size and decent quality for the money. The meals arrived quickly, and were hot,tasty and well presented. Friendly, welcoming staff, and happily interacting with the customers, but still efficient. The Dexter isn't 'posh' , it's a comfortable local and the new team look set to make it very welcoming..

I visited last Tuesday and enjoyed a delicious bacon and cheese burger. Excellent service from Josephine made the experience even better! Will definitely visit again.

Went here when it was nice and hot. Sometimes, a pub lunch is the way forward. Enjoyed the food and drinks. The time went there, it wasn't busy, so it was nice. The food took longer than expected to come, but we got there eventually.

Nice and pleasant, food was nice. Staff were very friendly 😃 Will be back again.

Food is bland for money, and small portions

This place offers a good range of gluten free food.

Typical local boozer type. Service is slow, not much enthusiasm from staff. Seem unengaged or can't be bothered. Outside seating area is good. Large car park, plenty of parking.

The 33% offer was great. I ordered a Pepsi max and then the lady serving said the Pepsi needed changing and she told me she would bring it over to my table but she never did so I had to go back to the bar and ask where my drink was and she said she had forgot. 3 of us ordered haddock and chips and then we got told by the lady serving that they only actually had 1 haddock and chips in stock so we had to return to our table to then select alternative meals from the menu. It would of been better if the lady serving had told us that they only had 1 haddock in chips in stock when we were at the bar the first time ordering our drinks. We were waiting for our meals and 2 meals arrived and then the waitress came to our table and told us that we would have to wait longer for the scampi and chips because for some reason the chef thought the portion was for a kids meal , even though we never ordered a kids meal?

I had a 80th birthday celebration at the Dexter. It was a wonderful afternoon fabulous Buffet , great party area and friendly atmosphere we were looked after by Adam, Josephine , Jodie and Kyle our chefs were James , Lewis and Jason. Thanks to you all.

We only had drinks here. It seems like a really nice pub and furnished nicely as well. It also has outdoor seating and onsite parking.

We tried the new menu. They certainly have up their game. The menu caters for everyone and has a huge variety. The staff are great and we only had to wait 10 mins max for our starters followed by main straight after. The food was lovely. I had the chicken strips and chicken burger and I can honestly say I haven’t tasted anything like it for a long time. My partners food also were nice.

5 of us visited today for family birthday dinner. Ordered 3 sirloin steak dinners, 2 beef roasts. Absolutely delicious, we all agreed it was the best restaurant experience since 2020. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We shall return atleast once a month. Kind regards

Luvley local pub good beer and atmosphere

Went in the other day, was served by Josephine she was welcoming and friendly and the service was great. Will definitely come again!

Took 45 miniutes to work the wbsite to order for 2 adults and 5 children. The steak was tough - even the dog had problems with the left overs. Other food was overcooked. The kids eat for £1 offer seemed to apply to one child only even though five adult / 2 children were orderd. Order by website is impersonal and ruined the meal for me.

Nice pub but very slow service. We ended up leaving without the pudding we had paid for because we'd been waiting so long. Food was nice though. Would still recommend but maybe avoid peak times

Lack lustre menu for lunches and even if that wasn't enough what they had advertised on that menu a lot of it wasn't even available. Definitely feels like the chef had given up on that day, with overcooked starters and a mediocre main. The staff behind the bar and the serving staff were polite and friendly.

We love it there the staff are lovely my grandson is autistic and they are very understanding with him and are helpful and patient with him they are fantastic

Visted midweek with friends & had really nice meals at a good price. Even the beer was spot on. First time we've been for a while but we'll be back in a fortnight for more of the same.

Nice warm atmosphere with open fires dogs allowed and ample parking. Fish and Chips are great the bar can get very busy at weekends and during promotion periods and there is only 1 or 2 staff serving so waiting time to get served can be a little frustrating at times.

Ate here with a person I was supporting and his Mum. He had Shepherds pie and greens, his Mum had soup and I had a crispy chicken sandwich with chips and side salad. Food was good, I think the chicken was thigh bites (not breast) but I like chicken thighs so I was happy with it. Other dishes looked OK and were eaten up.

Lovely cosy relaxing environment. Welcoming staff. Food was hot and tasty. I ordered sausage and mash. Having to pay extra for a side of steamed greens was disappointing. Can it be included in the future. Love the mini pud and hot drink

Waited over an hour for two cheeseburgers! No warning of any possible delays. Staff appeared to be poorly trained. Only good at saying sorry. Food was really nice and atmosphere was friendly too. Great selection of food at great pricing, with the cost of living as it is at the moment it's great to see places like this offer great dining at affordable prices. If you haven't been before don't think twice about giving Dexter's a go, it won't be something you look back on and regret. Definitely recommend.

Dreadful service from untrained staff, inedible food. It's a shame because it used to be a good pub. I haven't complained about food or service in 18 years, but even I had to send the food back here.

Got there Sunday at 3.30pm, no Sunday roast dinners left and had to order posh fish + chips as no normal ones available

Can not pull bitter, 3 different staff served me first was good the other 2 shocking.

Always a welcoming place... a regular

Three of us called into the Dexter for tea. Two of us had rump steak and I had the Gammon. There were no tomatoes on any of the meals and no flat mushrooms on the steaks when they were served which the menu stated came with these meals They had run out of these items but nobody thought to come and tell us this before the meals were served. One of the rump steaks was supposed to be cooked medium but it came very rare and it was sinuey. Nobody came to ask us how our food was. Very disappointed with the food and by the lack of customer service.

A very friendly pub, with pleasant, hard-working staff.

I ordered vegetarian linguine pasta and it was the most horrible pasta I had in my whole life. For the sake of vegetables there were 4 pieces of vegetables and some terrible readymade sweet sauce in it. Will never have food there again really bad experience.

There was three of us two had chicken curry one had the steak one had chocolate brownie and one had the apple crumble all ever nice going back again 👍👍👍

Ordered and paid by the QR code. The service was good. The food presentation was good. I ordered the lasagna, which looked delicious. Unfortunately the pasta was very “spongy” and there was lots of grissle in the mince. Very disappointing
