Lovely restaurant / cafe. Welcoming; good food - shepherds pie, lasagne, scampi with fresh leaves & excellent home made garlic bread. Great views.

Nous avons pris une pizza et des mets végétariens qui étaient bons. Le service était convenable même si moins souriant et accueillant que ce à quoi nous avons habitué pendant notre voyage en Écosse. Enfin, le lieu et la vue sont superbes et il y a dans les toilettes femmes des tampons et serviettes hygiéniques pour lutter contre la précarité mensruelle, ce qui est un très bon point!

Despite calling at 3:30pm and being told they were open until 8pm, we called at 6:50pm and were told the kitchen was closed. So disappointed. It would be helpful if they would include the cut off time for take out orders.

Had read the reviews saying the staff were rude but still went and shouldn’t have, as soon as the hostess found out we weren’t eating she said she would get the man serving coffee to get our order and we’re then asked to move to another room to wait so we could takeaway. Awful for an island where so many small businesses have suffered and shut down to treat people not spending “enough” money like their custom doesn’t matter. We’ve visited over 15 establishments on the island in the last 2 weeks and not once have been made to feel like that, left without getting anything. Art galleries next door well worth a visit, spent our money there instead!

Stopped in for tea and cake and ended up booking a table for the next day as food orders had stopped. Helpful and friendly welcome on both visits. Food was really good, fish finger ciabatta, smoked salmon sandwich and fish & chips. Great cakes on offer too.

Our first attempt to have lunch here was not successful as it was full, we did not get the warmest of welcomes from the member of staff. However we did return later in the week and had coffee and cake, carrot cake was delicious. We booked for a late lunch the following day as the food we saw going to other tables looked delicious. Our lunch didn’t disappoint, it was tasty and our young waiter was very good.

Thank you Peggy for a warm welcome, quaffable glass of pino Grigio, lunch and a view to die for. With very few eateries on Harris, An Traigh was a wonderful find. Dean & Katie 😁

I understand that some cafes are not able to cater for dogs, however well-behaved, but I don't understand why staff need to be so unwelcoming and negative. I have visited Harris many times over the years. It is one of my very special places to visit. I was sad to see how much local businesses have been affected by Covid and perhaps Brexit/ lack of staffing issue. I live in the South of England so appreciate how tough it can be. But why then put off potential regular customers by being so unfriendly? We turned up for lunch today. There were no visible signs about dogs. The member of staff who 'greeted us' simply announced that the whole building was not dog friendly. I was taken a back by the hostile tone and think some training is needed. Before Covid, I visited Harris regularly. It is a special place to me and I am sorry to see so many businesses no longer operating. I hope that Harris can regenerate. Tourism is its best hope. If it is to build back, it will need to provide more welcoming places to eat and drink. And I would also say that more and more places on the mainland are now dog friendly. In fact it is now the norm, particularly where you have walkers or are near a beach. Over the past few years couples and families own dogs and are travelling with their dogs and tourism has to adapt to these changes. I am sorry for the low score. I am sure it might be a nice cafe, but we won't be back either with or without our dog.

I really enjoyed my visit. Fantastic view. Service and food was great. Lovely atmosphere with Scottish music playing in the background.

We had a delicious afternoon tea, beautifully presented on individual cake stands. The service was quick and friendly and the wonderful views of the waves crashing onto the shore were a great bonus.

This was just a coffee and cake stop - great views and friendly service. Very good illy coffee with a fantastic and huge portioned coffee and walnut cake. Just a perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon

My wife and I spent three nights in Harris and popped in here for an impromptu lunch following a trip to Scarista beach-we could not have been more impressed. Firstly, the warmth of welcome from the servers was brilliant-they booked us a table so we could sit outside-the weather was sensational-and the views are to die for. We ordered the pizza, which we both thoroughly enjoyed and was as good as anything we have eaten in Italy. This place is a gem and i would not hesitate to recommend to all who find themselves in the vicinity and peckish! the coffee and cake is pretty good too. Keep up the good work. Manoj and Hasu Anand

A really warm welcome and a lovely choice of food and drink on the menu. The views are breathtaking and we’re a great backdrop to the delicious meal we had (Fish Pie from the specials menu). Brilliant staff - chatty and efficient. Can’t praise this place high enough

A big thank you to the chef and staff at this lovely cafe. We were a small coach party in desperate need of coffee and something to eat on our journey through Harris, a quick call ahead was made to check they could accommodate us and they were more than happy to do so 😊. The food on offer was varied and proved to be great quality. My husband and I shared a pizza, it was superb. Would definately recommend, not only for the cafe but also a couple of craft shops and the spectacular views. Thanks again x

Amazing food in an amazing location, pizzas are the best since we were in Italy. We ate there 3 times , felt safe with all covid measures in place.

The restaurant at Talla na Mara is in a fabulous location overlooking the beach, the staff were very friendly and the food (we had burgers) was great…what more can you want.

Had a delicious home made pizza and chips for lunch as we were cycling in the rain so needed good food to keep us going.Very very tasty.

Incredible food in a beautiful building with breathtaking scenery. A must for people interested in architecture. Food was incredible - had delicious salmon special which looked like it was straight off of master chef, but incredibly reasonable price!
