Enjoyed a most amazing visit to this wee and delightful place. Snug and cozy, this is a true ceilidh - a place where community comes together to enjoy wonderful company as well as coffes, teas, and delicious authentic Scottish treats. As a bonus, we had insightful and illuminating conversations that enlightened us around many Gaelic topics and the identity of this extraordinary isle. Oh, and cute gifts too!

An Taigh Cèilidh opened a couple of days after my last visit to Stornoway so I was excited to be able to visit this time round having missed out before. It's more than a cafe, there's a small book shop too and the place hosts conversation groups, live music, and so on for the Gaelic speaking (or learning) community. Order in Gaelic for a discount (they will help you do this if you can't already). Great atmosphere, I just wish I had something like this local to me! Good coffee and a range of cakes and I believe normally sandwiches too.

What a brilliant place to enjoy refreshments! Absolutely stunning views! The food and drink is of top quality too. It’s open from April to end of September and defiantly worth a call when on North Uist

Tucked away on the other side of the pier, this is a fantastic takeaway, the taster box was delicious and so fresh. Loved the scallops which were perfectly cooked. Thank you.

Conveniently located on the car park opposite Leverburgh village hall, this van serves cones and tubs of very special ice cream most afternoons. A delightful young man took our order and money, and a very nice lady made up the ice creams. A little mental concentration is required; you have to decide 1) what size you require, 2) whether to have ice cream or frozen yoghurt as the base, and 3) what flavour to choose. I had the blackberry, which was fabulous. Just one suggestion; could you site a waste bin near the van, for used paper cups?

Inspired by the “EatDrinkHebrides” trail map, popped in to collect a picnic lunch during a Hebridean road trip. We had the most amazing toasties and hot chocolate. Handy for the ferry. Worth a detour!!
