Friendly, good food. I would give 5* … but - When they take your money they really should tally it up with the fish they put in the fryer - otherwise if they’re busy you might have to wait longer than should have been necessary. If you are asked ‘what did you order again?’ - then beware! Lol.

Nice location, staff seemed friendly. But that's where the praise ends. That was the worst battered sausage and chips i have ever had. Didn't know the sausage and batter could get burnt! Could barely cut/bite into it. Definitely would not recommend

Omg wot a chippy. Let's just say that the fish was cooked fresh in font of me. i ordered a medium fish and chips, but i think he got it wrong as i was more like a large cod and chips. Fish was pipng hotand well tasty as was the chips 5/5 from me

This was my first visit here, I received a friendly welcome and ordered a medium cod & chips which was freshly-cooked, generously portioned and absolutely delicious - highly recommended.

The cod and chips is fabulous. Succulent, tasty and fresh white cod that falls apart in moist flakes, covered in a light but crispy batter, and firm light golden chips with a decent crunch and minimal oil. The food is cooked to order so be ready to wait ten minutes, or more if it's busy. There's room to eat in at a bar, and it beats being outside on a wintery evening, but it's a fish bar, not a fish restaurant so don't expect polished cutlery. The staff are friendly though.

Went in late after a long day to grab something to eat for a very late dinner... Everything was cooked fresh and was delicious 😋

Really friendly. Excellent fish and chips with very generous portions. Lovely crispy batter on the fish and freshly cooked non-greasy chips. It's often difficult to find a Fish and Chip shop that does both well and Amersham Fish Bar achieves this.

Fantastic if you like expensive small portions of tasteless chips in a tray and yesterdays cod with the skin on and still with bones in. Yuk!! and then some. Didn't take long to put mine in the bin.

Very delicious, and extremely nice guys. Let me size up the fish before it was cooked, definitely honest, the owner has chosen his staff well. Cheered me up, I had a lovely dinner!

For some reason every time me or my partner go to this place there is always a pice of my order missing.. or the item on the ordering board is no longer available but alway missing something you pay .. even after checking the list but you don’t realise it’s missing until u get home .. and it’s alway the one thing you wanted the most …

Walked round from the office after calling for 20 minutes and no answer. Only to be told the phone is no longer in use as management have disconnected. It was 1.40pm and we were told we could only have what was on show. The shop shuts at 2pm. Really disappointed by this, we were trying to support a local business. Drove to little Chalfont where they were happy to take our order over the phone for a quick collection.

Super large portions, friendly staff, quick service, for take out not really for eating in. Cod is great as are the chicken nuggets! Chips portions are huge even the medium ones.

Delicious Fish and Chips reasonable price friendly chatty chaps behind the counter can't fault it

I popped in here as I was passing and fancied something to tide me over, I asked for two fish cakes and they gave me 1/2 a portion of chips with them. Nice guys and the food is always a good standard.

I have been going here for years and although the food is decent most times I have noticed a few issues. All too often if you alone or with one other customer the staff speak to each other in a different language which is not what i would consider good customer etiquette. The chips are getting worse. Everyone they seem to get drier despite lashings of vinegar being unable to compensate? ! Is £9.50 normal now for a large cod ? ...would not mind but no depth in one of my two large cods ordered and far too thin for that money !. ...also if I am spending that amount on food there is no need to charge £ 1.20.for a tin of drink ! Pickled onions are always tiny in size and beware of driving into the car park to the side and rear of the property. Once you drive in your charged unless you buy a ticket at the machine...even if just turning around! .. you will.not.know until the parking eye fine arrives weeks later !

Stopped by for a quick bite. Pleasant ,clean and spacious area and fast service. The chips were in my top five best as they were exactly as I like them. The pie was at the right temperature to eat without scolding my mouth. Likely little find.

A very popular takeaway option in Amersham - it's always very busy on a Friday and Saturday evening. Our usual order is a large haddock, large chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, and this is usually plenty for two people. Good value and good quality fish, nice chunky chips crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside. Only snag is cash only and I always forget.

Best chips especially for miles around

We had heard good things about this chippy, and decided to take a drive to try it out. I explained to the server we had travelled from far and so we needed our chips to be piping hot so they are warm when we get home, and they actually made fresh chips for us! The staff were really friendly, portions were a good size and the chips were delicious!! My fave new chippy I will be recommending to everyone

Excellent fish and chips but people who go in without masks are not challenged, endangering other customers and staff. The sign on the door says that masks must be worn and the staff should not serve anybody without one.

.....despite a sign saying customers must wear a mask, this is clearly not enforced and puts others at risk. Two girls were in the shop last Friday without masks and it went unchallenged by the staff.

Not a bad fish and chip shop. Sausages are beef/chicken (halal) that are much worse than pork. A bit on the expensive side, but overall not bad.

We have been visiting this take away Fish & Chip shop for many months, it always excellent, even the medium fish are large & one medium chips is plenty for us OAPs, all are freshly cooked by the friendly staff, there also seats to use while waiting.

Called in for fish and chips this evening. Not cheap but fish was good, pity about the chips. Could easily have been cooked at lunchtime, expect better for the price. Advise you check when they were cooked.

Was disappointed with the dried out sausages and batter, was in here at 5pm and would guess I recieved the leftovers from lunchtime? Also a little on the expensive side compared to other chip shops

Fish and chips as a meal quite good but really overpriced. I ordered one portion of fish and chips I had £7 on me which usually would more than cover ( my locals in Chesham are under £6). They wanted£8!!! When I said I'd leave it they gave it to me for £7 which was very good of them. Still overpriced in my opinion.

avoid this place like the plague... 3 mates were extremely ill after buying food from this place.The council needs investigate.

Quality of fish has dropped, it is a lot more oiler then the past. But this is the only place in amersham and there is no competition. When they opened the fish was thicker. Now it is just the tail, so more batter then fish.

Large portion- problem was I didn’t like the chips. The chips were more like the ones you get with a steak. I wanted proper chippy chips nice and soft in the middle and a little grease. These were rock hard like pub steak chips. No thank you.

Whenever I go to visit my mum we treat ourselves to some of the best fish and chips I've had. Chunky fish and triple cooked chips, delicious! The guys serving are really helpful.

The chips here are always delicious, there can be a bit of a wait at busy times but well worth it. Prices have gone up since they first opened, but still good value for money

We've bought Fish and Chips for the family or just ourselves several times and it's almost always far too greasy - the oil just isn't hot enough when they cook the fish and chips so they end up absorbing it. This wouldn't be so bad by itself but it's rather expensive for not-good-enough food. We won't eat there again.

The food is ok - good portions of chips though fish batter is quite oily. Prices a little on the steep side: this has been more noticeable since the other fish shop on the other side of town closed down leaving locals with no choice but to come here. Bring cash only because they do not accept debit or credit cards either which is a bit odd in this day and age. I’ve seen quite a few people walk out because of this: they’d probably increase takings if they simply got themselves a card reader. However they don’t seem to care with their “take it or leave it” attitude. Possibly best to leave it then, if you have a car and go to Chesham where there are around three quite decent chip shops.

Short wait times for food, although I would not recommend eating in as the shop smells very metallic. On the whole, good food for takeaway or delivery.

Friendly staff, huge portions and tasty food make this a worthwhile 'I can't be bothered to cook tea'!! Loads of choice to go with the chips too.

Ca$h only here! Whilst the rest of us enjoy the convenience of contactless payments, this chippy apperently has yet to even discover cheque books. There can be no valid excuse for the insistence of sticking with this form of payment when business charges for using debit cards no longer apply. Insisting on cash is usually the favoured system of tradespeople who have an aversion to the taxman. Not that I’m suggesting these folk do of course. But they lost a £60 order once ( and many more similar instances besides no doubt) because of their aversion to anything but notes and coins. And any retailer who can afford to do that so readily must cleary not need the business in the first place!

Well cooked and great value. The chips were of the thrice cooked variety and also very hot. Sadly the only chip shop in Amersham but at least it is quality.

Came here for 2 portions of fish and chips. Quick service and really large portions. Chips were absolutely great! very fresh and crispy, curry sauce was as expected but fish was a real let down as the batter was overly greasy. Meant I only ate the white fish and left 50% of the batter but given the portion size it wasn't really a problem!

Very fresh, traditional, and nicest chips I've ever had! Very popular so can be a bit of a wait at peak times but it's worth it.
