Amatos in Carlisle

Attended Amatos last night before a gig at The Old Fire Station. Meal was superb. Everything was brilliant. Lovely atmosphere and waiting staff nothing was an issue for them. Keep up the great work.

First visit here. Mediocre at best. The starters of burrata cheese and mussels were good and tasty. My chicken in cream and mushroom sauce was a bit dry although the sauce was nice. The sirloin steak was very thin and totally tasteless. Our puddings of cheesecake and creme caramel were good. Overall nothing outstanding, very ordinary food and quite pricey. Service was good although I don't think they know how to chat with customers, all young girls. Won't rush back.

Had a meal four of us the food was amazing fresh and tasty booked for December also bought vouchers for my daughter and son-in-law .they had a lovely meal also .Top notch food lovely family restaurant .

Hardly have found an Italian restaurant with all foods are so delicious 😋 Their food’s ingredients are so fresh and lightly flavored which make the dishes so much better than others 😇 The services provided is one of the key that you will definitely missed 🥰 Worth recommended ! Don’t forget their desserts!

Tasty spot for a happy hour lunch. My son enjoyed seeing the open kitchen and his pizza 🍕. Friendly service too.

The best waitressing I have ever experienced. I eat out a lot, both for work and social and can honestly say this was the best service ever. The two young waitresses were on the ball, fast, polite. It was like they were trained in a michelin star restaurant. I doubt I will see service like this for many years. Sorry I cannot recall your names. Food was great too with lots of vegetarian options

What a find! Step down into the cellar to find a lovely Italian restaurant. We were really impressed with both the food, wine and service. I had mozzeralla balls for starter, followed by sirloin steak with potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables had an amazing chilli kick to them, so prepare yourself for something different. And Toblerone cheesecake for dessert, dear reader, yes Toblerone cheesecake! Look at my other reviews to see where I've been!

The food was fantastic The staff are very friendly and helpful especially with my girlfriend being gluten and lactose free they looked after her very beautiful

First visit to this restaurant. The food was excellent from a very good menu with good prices. The service was so good and the staff were lovely and so efficient in all aspects of the meal. The restaurant atmosphere is friendly and relaxed but the quality is very apparent , cleanliness and customer service easily make this 5 Stars . Would highly recommend without any problem.

Went here with my parents on a trip to visit my parents and OMG the pizza! Literally the best GF pizza I've ever had! The base was as close to a pizza with gluten I've ever tasted. I can't remember the name of the Blue cheese pizza I had, but I can highly recommend it. My mum who is coeliac is able to eat here safely too, and really enjoyed her pizza. I think she tried one with ham and possibly pineapple, but I can't remember. My dad had the salmon risotto and said it was delicious too. Food was lovely, nicely presented, in a short amount of time, drinks were delivered quickly too. I don't drink alcohol, so am always on the lookout for a good alcohol free drinks menu, and this one didn't disappoint. When funds allow I'd love to be able to pay another visit to this lovely friendly, GF friendly restaurant. I really enjoyed my visit here. Final point, as someone who has ADHD and comes from a ND family this restaurant is perfect. The lighting is subtle, and the background noise is unobtrusive. We were put in a side area, off the main part of the restaurant which was perfect for us. If you prefer lively, the tables in the main restaurant area have more of a buzz. Thank you for a wonderful family meal! I wish I had taken pics, but sadly I didnt this time. I will if I go there again

Excellent food and service, always a pleasure to visit

A breaded prawn starter consisting of 5 small breaded prawns and some sliced red onion and shredded lettuce felt very stingy - not even large Tiger prawns. The "Special" pizza was OK, bit tough to cut and certainly not on par with the street food pizza you could get from Carlisle market. Visited once, never again. Nothing really felt like I was treating myself there.

Food and service were alright. Overall just an average Italian restaurant, the food isn't tasty enough to make me come again.

Lovely lunch get together with family. Had delicious cod. Coffee was good too.

Had a piza nacos and asked the lovely waitress if the kitchen could add anchovies on it, they duly obliged and created the most fantastic pizza, very delicious, excellent meal, lovely service and reasonably priced, well worth a visit.

Fantastic Italian in Carlisle's Historic Quarter. Friendly and welcoming staff, lovely environment and a great atmosphere to sit and eat. Menu is extensive without being excessive and it's all well priced. Highly recommended in amongst a glut of Italian restaurants in Carlisle Amato's really stands out.

The food was delicious with a good choice of dishes on the menu. The kids were happy with their meals and it was reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful staff. My 10 year old son was mesmerised watching the chefs at work. Fab night had by all!

Three of us had lunch here today to celebrate my wife’s birthday.Had excellent food and service with a pleasant ambience. Have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Had visitors for the weekend and managed to book a table for 3 a couple of weeks in advance. Had an excellent meal. The place was packed at 5.30pm but the service ran like a well oiled machine. Food delicious. Well done to all Amatos staff.

First visit for birthday family meal. Loved it! Everything was perfect. Will definitely be back soon!

New to the area but this place is becoming a regular. Good food and great service. Look at the specials for hidden gems.

My daughter and I so enjoyed tonight’s meal. We had mussels,garlic mushrooms and a pizza all together. So good. Will be back soon.

Good food, needs a good deep clean

Amazing food, everything we ordered was so flavoursome, good value aswell as the portion sizes were perfect. All the waiting staff were friendly and lovely aswell. I got recommended to come here and i will be recommending it!

Pre-show dinner which turned out to be an event in itself. Lovely restaurant, great ambience, good service, scrummy food and very reasonable prices. Two veggies (me and a friend) in the mix and we had wonderful food that wasn't the usual after-thought on the menu. Definite Sicilian tastes in the menu. Wonderful family meal again, all meals were perfect, with chocolate torte to die for ! Another visit and relieved to find the same wonderful service and great food were still on offer! This time a Lemon Torte was devoured.

Lovely food and friendly staff, waitress did go on her break but no one else wanted to serve us when we wanted drinks so bit of a let down.

Seated politely by young lady who offered choice of tables. Had starters and mains. We were in a slight rush and service was thankfully pretty quick. Food cooked fresh to order. All very nice. Price reasonable. We'll be back.

What can we say? From the moment we entered the establishment: welcoming; clean; pleasing decor; loos great too! This was our first time at Amato’s in Carlisle, and we were extremely impressed. A mother and daughter combo: we arrived by train, easily accessible being just behind the cathedral. The wine was recommended by our female waiting staff: she was very friendly and super knowledgeable on the wine and vegetarian cuisine. We have both lived and eaten all around the world; this food topped most, in our opinion - superb! In fact, we are planning to revisit with our partners very soon. I've been wanting to visit for years and it was absolutely worth the wait! There was a huge group of us, so we pre ordered, all was handled perfectly by the staff. Staff were lovely and very attentive. They offer vegan options as well as vegan cheese. The food was amazing, days later I'm still thinking about it. I can't wait to come back.

First time going and the food and drinks where great, the only down side is that the white wall at the top section where we were seated was very grubby and could do with a lick of paint

Perfect place for a meal, the food quality was perfection and the portions were really good The atmosphere was yet again perfection as the small tables were quiet and is perfect for dates of any kind and the larger area is quiet enough for conversations and not loud like most other places I can't wait to go back and will definitely be soon as I can't stop thinking about the food and atmosphere

Love coming to Amato's such a great choice on the menu and always delicious. Staff are always very helpful and attentive. Missed the bread basket this time though, the olive oil bread was amazing.

Really good food. We ordered the bruschetta and enjoyed every bite, very peppery. I had the pepperoni pizza and asked them to make it extra crispy and each bite was very delicous, the pepperoni was even slightly spicy. My wife had the spicy meatball spaghetti and she really enjoyed it, she thought it was cooked very well. The staff are nice. Toilets are clean and well maintained. Restaurant is well lit and clean. Seriously though, the pizza is some of the best I have had in all of the U.K., I think bath has the 2nd best now! Seriously some and eat here.
