A little Italy in England, delicious!!! Super recommended

Good tasty food at reasonable prices on the lunchtime deal

Visited with friends to celebrate a birthday on a Thursday evening in August. It was very quiet with only one other table in at 19.30. We ordered drinks and main courses and were planning to spend the evening there. The food came quickly and was very tasty and good. However, as soon as we had finished we were pushed to order any deserts and coffee immediately. We asked if we could wait a bit, but it soon became clear the restaurant was waiting to close. It was only 20.45. We decided to leave and go somewhere else to finish our evening. We would have had deserts and more drinks if we could have taken our time. Also to note this restaurant prefers cash payments and has a poster up to this effect. We paid by card but any tips can only be left in cash. Good food but disappointing service on this occasion.

An on the spot decision for our lunch resulted in a very enjoyable meal in a good atmosphere. Living locally, we shall certainly become a customer.

This restaurant has such a cozy and charming atmosphere! From the moment we walked in, you feel like you’re in Italy. The food was absolutely delicious! Me and my girlfriend requested to have a bigger size whole Sea bass each, which we totally recommend :-) Thank you so much to everyone at Amalfi, for an amazing evening and unforgettable experience.

Delicious food at a very reasonable price.

Check out their lunchtime offers - 2 or 3 courses off the main menus for roughly half the prices. We were there today and the food was excellent. No steaks or pizzas available but everything else on the menu was. Would highly recommend it.

My favourite Italian in Southampton by far !!! Our latest visit was Amazing , Food is always fantastic and the staff go above and beyond to accomodate. My son is in a powerchair, they basically rearranged the restaurant so we could navigate through the doorway 😁 Thanks once again for the delicous food and superb service. The wine was great too 😋

Excellent food - we had takeaway, I would say the carbonara didn't taste anything like a carbonara more of a pepper sauce, very tasty but nothing like a proper Italian carbonara either modern or traditional.

Have eaten here every month lately. Service is great, food generally good. It was already annoying not serving pints,but £5 for a small bottle of lager and £4.30 for a coke, really? We be eating elsewhere if prices stay so silly.

Went for Sunday lunch with family who were visiting from Bristol. Great food and good service overall but what is happening about the wine prices? Large glass up from 7.95 to 9.50! Don’t really expect London prices in Hythe! Will continue to go for food but will have drinks before in local pub.

The place is beautiful, the staff are courteous, polite and friendly, some even speak Italian, the chef prepares excellent dishes using Italian products, the prices are fair and not exaggerated I recommend trying it if you are in the area, I guarantee you will be fully satisfied

The worst food we've ever had- everything made from frozen just boiled. Soooo disappointed definitely not worth the overpriced money nor the taste. No thank you

I was recommended to have the chicken and mushroom main course, it was delicious. I’ll definitely be back, the staff were great and the owners are Italian.

We visited last Saturday lunchtime - and upon arrival found they have a great lunchtime deal. The food was lovely and well presented - and frankly I don't know how they can make money at the lunchtime deal rate. Brilliant value. We'll be going back again, definitely!

Hello, I am a huge fan of the Amalfi restaurant, the food is superb. The people are the restaurant are so lovely and make you feel welcomed. I loved eating there as the atmosphere was amazing and it was good to see the restaurant filled with life. I really recommend risotto funghi as it’s cooked as a traditional Italian dish should. I also recommend all the pizzas, they are made in the pizza oven and come out fabulous!! I also went during lunchtime and the lunchtime offer at the moment is one of a kind, such a good offer for what you get. Fabulous work and will be a regular customer.

Starters and desserts received were okay (had better elsewhere). I had a risotto for my main which was tasty but so hard and chalky it was hurting my teeth to eat it. I then complained to the waiter who told me it was "al dente" (I don't believe undercooked and al dente are the same) he told me that's how the chef cooks it and asked me after I sent it back if I wanted to take it home?? I paid for the dish in the end but this was a huge let down as everything else was okay. Update: My boyfriend was too shy to say his was undercooked after the response I got. He ate the seafood from the dish and left the rest. Clearly this place can't take constructive criticism... judging by the response I have received. I failed to mention before that our original waitress had to take the order twice and seemed very confused and then forgot my friends calamari starter..by this time we didn't bring it up as the portions were massive and we were sharing everything. Everyone else enjoyed their food. Other things looked nice. However the risotto (on both plates) was just disappointing.

I have eaten in many Italian places in my life and I know my Italian food this guys are using cheap products and pasta’s are not fresh all frozen boiled up and serviced to customers. It’s a shame we will not be returning for sure.

Lovely food first time for myself and my wife, with friends.staff are very welcoming top mark to the cheff, my fish was cooked spot on, there was a lot of it. Sometimes you don't know what to expect, but full marks followed by a lemon liqure to finish off perfect.

It was great to have time with my family there and enjoy a tasty and delicious food and Italian music

Birthday meal recommended at Amalfi! Glad we took the recommendation. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by the staff. The food was amazing. I had quattro stagioni pizza. (Four season pizza). I have had many of them over the years, but I can honestly say, it was the best Quattro Stagioni Pizza I have had. My wife had a specially made gluten free Antipasto platter. She was absolutely over the moon with it. Service was excellent, helped us choose our wine. Atmosphere was cosy. The table we had was very romantic too. I asked to take a photo to say thank you and they gladly obliged.

Came here the other day with a few friends. First walked into the restaurant and was greeted nicely by the waiters. We started with cheesy garlic bread which was delicious and melted in our mouths. We then followed up with mains which was firstly Gnocchi pesto & muscles and then spaghetti bolognaise. Both pasta was to die for and a great size portions. The desserts came out shortly after due to great service and we were all pleased with the pana cotta and cheesecake. The pana cotta was delightful and we all enjoyed our desserts. The atmosphere was great and brilliant music playing in the background. The best authentic italian restaurant 😄 !

Hmm lunch for two. Two of the least authentic attempts at Italian dishes I’ve ever had. About five pounds extra to have chicken with your Caesar salad. Came out as a retro English salad complete with a quartered tomato!! The smallest “son of nuggets” deep fried chicken bits, clearly not freshly cooked and micro croutons. The mayo/garlic dressing was quite nice and kinda tasted Ok as a whole. Plus a pretty basic carbonara that came out faster than you can boil pasta! Cooked better at home. But filled a hole!? Won’t rush back.

The most authentic italian pizza i have eaten anywhere in the uk. Couldn't be more satisfying watching my pizza cook in a beautiful wood fire pizza oven, from the very generous sized pizza and toppings to the delicious texture of the dough, all cooked under natural fire. Fantastic staff very welcoming and professional, thank you for such a wonderful evening.

Don’t bother visiting here the food is tasteless and drinks are overpriced. We had garlic bread to start which was swimming in grease. For main I had margarita pizza which had way too much greasy stringy cheese on it and no taste tomato sauce, I could only eat half of it. My boyfriend had bolognese which was missing a lot of mince and sauce, it was mostly over cooked pasta which looked and tasted like it came out of a tin and again he hardly touched his. Drinks are over priced at £4.50 for a 330ml bottle of Moretti. We did ask for another beer during our meal but we never got it and although the waiting staff are on the ball we felt in a room full of busy diners not to mention anything. On getting the bill we did get a complimentary Amaretto shot each but neither of us like this so we left it and cash is the preferred payment. As I understand their usual chef is not in at the moment but still a chef is a chef and should still be able to deliver delicious food.

Lovely and authentic Italian food and atmosphere!

Used to be amazing authentic Italian food. Was by far the best Italian in the area. Sadly the food this time was, not just worse, but actually just not very nice. We checked, chef has permanently changed (as I think has the ownership?). Very sad. Definitely wouldn't eat again - as said food was not nice

Delicious and truly authentic Italian food made by proper Italians who hail from the lovely region of Campania. Service was impeccable by Jessica and I believe his name is Luigi (like my grandfather but I am not 100 per cent sure 🤔) My parents and I had two Impepata di cozze, a Tuscan dish with prosciutto and some other lovely stuff I don't seem to recall. Very big portions for the standard 'Italian' restaurant you tend to find in the High Street in the UK, which why we just had I believ 5 starters, al accompanied with free bread and soke glorious Italian white wine and lager. Will definitely come back to try the Risotto ai Frutti di Mare. They went well beyond the UK standard, they were supposed to close at 3pm and they stayed open up to 5pm for us, may God bless them with a lot of abundance, safety, security and financial independence 😉

Can't rate this restaurant highly enough, the food was exceptional, delicious flavours and cooked to perfection. The staff were efficient , pleasant and attentive. My wife and I had a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back and will recommend this astablishment to anyone.

Hands down, the best pizza we have EVER eaten! We love getting Amalfi pizza for takeaway and also enjoy dining in to try other delicious dishes. Always amazing service.

Lovely atmosphere and great food

What a find. Delightful service, sumptuous seafood pizza and ravioli served in a delicious seafood sauce. If only Amalfi was in West Wales!! Ohhhhhmmmm.

To celebrate 34 years of marriage we booked a table for 2. Starter was fine but main course of chicken breast in a creamy mushroom sauce was was absolutely dreadful, it was under cooked and and very hard to cut. We complained to the waitress who then involved the manager who was adamant it was tested with a probe and acceptable to eat. I strongly disagreed with her that if you left it on your plate something was wrong. Nothing was deducted from the bill as a good will gesture so I told her that I would never recommend her restaurant to anybody. I did thank her for spoiling a very special day and would never return. Just to update you on our conversation with the meal, never once did I say that the chicken was overcooked, and kept changing my mind this is a downright lie on her part and I don't take kindly of being accused of something that is not true, so in future get the facts right.

We had a azaming party there lust night my brother turn 30 and we were a party of 14 of us the staff did azaming job but it really all down to owner who run the place she make you feel very welcome all the time we go there best place every .

Bit rushed but food absolutely amazing try the calzoni you won't believe your eyes or stomach. Only criticism is the coca cola is well overpriced and wine was a bit short in the glass

Could of drank my pizza, staff were amazing

The only reason why I knocked a star off was noise. As I need to wear hearing aids just the noise of all the diners talking and laughing was at first unbearable. After a lot of fiddling with my hearing aids I managed to alter the settings to just about tolerable. This is the first time in a restaurant I have experienced this and I am puzzled why. Thank heavens the food was 5 ⭐

The food here was exquisite - without a shadow of a doubt, the best tasting, most authentic Italian food I've had outside of Italy itself. The restaurant was beautifully quaint; tiny, but cosy, and aesthetically styled after the most wonderful tavernas in the homeland. The most outstanding part of the whole experience, however, was the service. Masterfully striking that balance between attentive enough that you never need to wait for anything, but not so much so that they catch you just as you shovel pasta into your face. All of this, though, is tinged with a bittersweetness, as they're shutting in a little over a month. I implore you, for your own sake as much as anyone's, get on down to Amalfi and try it, before the opportunity is lost to the mists of time...

Amalfi had amazing pizza’s with outstanding pizza bases. The swordfish fish was delicious and I regretted not leaving more space for dessert. Panacotta was top notch. Lovely ambiance too

Hadn't been back since pre-Covid days. Celebrated my husband's birthday with family there last night and, as per usual, it didn't disappoint! Don't know how, but it's even better than before! One of my favourite places in the area! Thank you for a lovely evening.

we had family down for a funeral and decided to book a table the staff were friendly .we ordered our food which looked great but my partners steak was tasteless my brothers fillet steak had to much sauce on it and was tasteless i orderd the fish platter which if you take away the veg and put chips on instead i would have been fish and chips my brother complained but the waiter was having none of it , we left not happy at all and we will not be returning.

I just love this place. No amount of iffy reviews will ever put me off.. and i was a little worried when booking our last meal. The staff were professional and friendly.. it was a full restaurant. I took my son and daughter in law there this time and he said it was the best calzone he had eaten.. better than the London restaurant he had eaten in a few weeks previous. Good quality food at a reasonable price (for the size of the portions.) One day i will have enough room for three courses.

Wow, only went in for a main meal, and have just had the best ravioli EVER!!!!! The sauce and the prawns were amazing. Really beautiful family run restaurant, where all the staff were welcoming, attentive and you can have a bit of banter with them. I'll definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you for a great meal.

A real Italian restaurant in a very beautiful part of the south of England. The seafood is very fresh and cooked with skill both alone in the impepata and with the pasta in the spaghetti allo scoglio. The pizzas cooked in a wood oven and the desserts are also excellent, the tiramisu in particular is truly delicious. The service is attentive and the waiters courteous. A place to absolutely recommend.

Overpriced for what it is good service though

Fantastic meal and wonderful, welcoming staff. We love eating here. The lasagne is wonderful, and the Calzone superb. I really enjoyed my peach melba and the Pistachio ice-cream is out of this world.

Good solid Italian cooking, generous portions, outstanding Tiramisu. Very good, friendly and efficient service. Will be back.

This is my favourite restaurant. We have visited at least four times and every time the food has been excellent and the service brilliant. The food really does taste like authentic Italian food, it’s beautiful. Really reasonably priced too considering how great the food tastes. Can’t fault at single thing at Amalfi’s and will continue to keep returning. ☺️

We organised a family lunch party for my Mother’s birthday and it was superb. Jessica made a cake and event managed the occasion for me and she was just wonderful to deal with, so helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
