Delicious!!. It's Wonderful awards and you'll know why when you go. It was always busy when we went past. Friendly staff. They also won best chippy in Scotland in 2016 . Can't not add one complaint.

This a proper old fashioned ( in a good way ) traditional Scottish fish and chip shop. It’s the best fish supper I have had in decades. The batter was crispy and the fish excellent. The chips were great . There was a queue but it moved quickly. We had been going to eat by the side of the river but the food was so hot we managed to get back to our accommodation without it cooling down.

Chips are excellent, Service is brilliant. Could you maybe have more veggie/vegan options on the menu. Macaroni pie was a thumbs down I'm afraid. How about halloumi fritters or veggie haggis fritters? Simon Howie does these vegan white puddings that are DELICIOUS!! Prices are good and parking is never an issue. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Wonderful fish and chips and great, friendly service too. Great value. There is a small park very close by to go sit and eat them and watch the dippers in the river.

Very disappointed in this fish and chip shop ..it says it has won rewards etc !? After our experience I don’t know how😳 we ordered fish and chips for three and a single fish costing us over £33 .I can say that the chips were very good but all of the fish was way overcooked…to pay this amount for what amounted to just good chips was crazy ..will not be recommending this shop to anyone . Even a woman in the queue said she never gets fish as it is always overcooked!! Maybe it’s time to try them yourself before you sell to customers who have travelled from Perth hoping to have an award winning fish supper!!? I hate leaving negative remarks but on this occasion I feel it deserves a thumbs down for us .

Very little fish and lots of batter! Also, I would say poor quality haddock. Busy Friday night but ordering process was well organised just very, very disappointed in the quality of the fish supper. Around the shop were lots of awards but this supper for me wouldn’t win any.

Definitely the best chippy in the area. Chips are the best! There aren't many chip shops that cater for vegetarians so very happy that they have pineapple fritters and mushrooms. I just wish that they had macaroni pies on their menu.

Shop was busy, but very efficient in processing your order. There is a bit of a wait, but the food is cooked to order. The fish was in lovely crispy batter, and served with well cooked chips. Portion size is generous to say the least.

We called into this chippy as we had travelled from wiltshire to Blackpool then on to Scotland they don't do much for vegetarians but it's a chippy ...vege burger was really good my hubby said his cheese burger was nice ...we went back three times while we were on hols...we will be back on day

One of the better fish and chip places we've used. Good enough that we went back a second time during our week long stay in the area. Being able to phone the order ahead and have a pick up time was useful too.

Good fish suppers been going years. Marcelo and the team are great. Marcelo’s memory is fantastic remembering about 16 orders all at once. Tip come early 5pm as gets really busy the old people of alyth love it.

Very good value, always freshly made, a real treat for a quick supper. Very conveniently located. Would recommend.

Visited during our holiday. Good quality and tasty fish and chips. Large menu so caters all tastes. Staff were very friendly. Very enjoyable.

Not many chips, fish was dry and the deep fried pizza was just a cheap frozen pizza. I wouldn’t recommend

Your first impression always counts a lot and on entering the shop the staff look great in blue colourful uniforms. Pleasantly asked for my order and told it would be ready as soon as it is cooked despite a few in the queue. We had Chicken fillets (7),for a change, and with a good amount of chips cost £6. All were very tasty and as just cooked very hot. Shop just off the town square so easy to find.

Me and my family enjoyed a meal from here during our stay just outside Alyth, most enjoyable! The food could have been served in a decent restaurant and I'd have been happy.

No wonder awards are given to Alyth Fish and Chips. We always request the gluten free batter which is light and crispy like a tempura batter. We had fish and chips recently in Dublin at the most famous fish and chips restaurant there but after enjoying the Alyth ones, the Dublin ones were a disappointment. We get spoiled in Alyth.

Have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed my food. Last night, however, was anything but. Huge fish over cooked and very chewy. Far from award winning, very poor.

Again I can't fault the food from here. Give it a visit and you can even sit in the square and watch life go by.

Great fish and chips! We went for the senior size, which was by no means a small fry, and one portion of chips would have sufficed for two of us- great food, great value!

Havna been in this tiny chipper for quite a while but on the last day of a flaming June month, hereabouts at least, I took my lady to Alyth to sample, once again, the two fish suppers they would provide for our in-car, in the wee town square, planned supper. As I mentioned before, these people get a lot of praise through Trip Advisor and make the most of it to keep their business running, and on their cooking range this time round, they had a framed display of some kind of certificate granting their establishment an accolade which went something like "Best Wee Chip Shop in Scotland" ... so they have a lot to live up to.

The chef is a very good cook, extremely nice and very service minded. An exiting variety of food. A great place to go.

Go on...it’s worth the trip. Alyth is a pretty wee village so get your supper and find a spot to sit down and take in the surroundings. Highly recommended.

This is the best fish and chips for several reasons. The owner and staff are friendly and efficient, the fish is fresh (giant pieces too), there is a yummy gluten free option with a batter tempura like and the fish is wrapped in paper and put into a paper bag - no plastic used. Absolutely delicious and a great treat. We got our order, rushed home and it was still hot.

Disappointing visit to the award winning fish shop in Alyth tonight. 3 pieces of what can be described as cardboard but in fact after phoning to complain realized they were frozen fish pieces with very bland chips all inedible.

Not a bad fish & chip shop but also not the best. It is not a restaurant, but a take away. You can phone in, and pre order, to pick up yourself.

Travel from Blairgowrie on a regular basis, as it serves the best fish & chips (100 times times better than our local places).

My wife and I ordered some dinner there. We waited 40 minutes and the order was wrong...then another 15 minutes to fix it. For an order of fish and a pineapple thing? Took it home and...meh. Not much taste and not worth having again. Our friends arrived the next day and tried it the first night.... Service was better but they had the same thoughts about the food. One wall filled with awards. Ha!

We queued last Friday for a fish and chip supper for 3 of us!! As I'm gluten free we asked for no batter or breadcrumbs on the fish!! The cook said he couldn't do it as they were too busy And the fat was too hot and the fish would break up!! We took my fish with us and cooked it at home!!We got the impression he didn't want to do it!! Not impressed!! Please take gluten free seriously!!

I am not usually a fan of fish & chips, but was intrigued by the awards it had won so gave it a try. The battered haddock was excellent...tasty fish in a crisp, non-greasy batter. Chips were excellent as well. Very friendly service as well despite us turning up with an order for 7 people 2 minutes before closing time. Highly recommended. (As an aside, I also tried the deep fried pizza on another occasion...curiousity got the better of me...not something I will be trying again!)

Drove out from Blair and got todays special - the 'jumbo haddock supper'. Big portion of fish. Was worth the trip!

Visited on Saturday, and there was practically a queue out the door, I can see why. Everything cooked to order, so there is a wee bit of a wait, but well worth it. Very well organised. I was impressed by the fryer who effortlessly took the orders, cooked them and passed them on to be served!Friendly staff and overall would recommend it if you are in the area..or make a detour if you're not!Will be back.

Really good fish & chips with efficient & friendly staff ,fish is haddock rather than cod & the portions are quite large.On Wednesday they have a pensioners reduced rate but the portions although adequate are smalle

I visited this chip shop tonight after a few recommendations and it was brilliant I had the half breaded and half battered fish it was so nice and also the first time I have tried breaded fish I am very impressed a lovely little chip shop and very friendly staff, I would definitely recommend this chip shop and will be going back.

Read the reviews of the Alyth fish & chip shop and decided before our week holiday in the countryside cottage outside Alyth to have a Friday evening takeaway treat. How disappointed we were, I had to phone the chip shop to check on the order and the lady confirmed £6.40 for one portion of fish and a portion of bland tasting chips. I have experienced numerous chip shops on my travels (and typed reviews) and this is the first time I have experienced an adult portion with one piece of fish. The fish portion was no greater in size than any portion offered in Fife ( especially East Neuk) and the portion was of an inferior quality. Sorry, but no award from me.

Busy place but then appears to be only fish and chip shop in Alyth. Was nice to get haddock with properly cooked batter( so often not, elsewhere) . Thought the chips were a bit soggy but that was maybe due to the hot fish placed on top of the chips and then wrapped. This seems to happen less when served in the the take away box with lid.

Had fantastic fish suppers on Friday night - Smoked Haddock and Halibut suppers - taste to die for. Ask for something different and Marcello comes up with the goods. Brilliant as always

This is a fish and chip shop, nothing more, nothing less. It was suggested to us that it was 'the best chip shop ever' but actually it's the only one for miles around...........anyway, there was nothing wrong with it, but it had no enthralling details. The food was good but not outstanding.

You order as you go in and it is cooked while you wait. It can mean a bit of a delay but it is fresh, hot and delicious and the chips are great too.

We had the jumbo fish supper from here and it was lovely and fresh only down side was the time we had to wait because they were so busy but this just proves how good their food is.

Visited here twice while on holiday near Alyth, only planned on going once but it was so delicious the first time we just had to go back.Pretty much everything is cooked to order and cooked to perfection then simply double wrapped in paper ,not the terrible plastic cartons you normally get, by very friendly staff!The gentleman that does the frying is amazing, never stands still, greets every customer and how he remembers all the orders Ive no idea, but hats off to him!!!!Don't miss out on this place if your anywhere near Alyth, we will be back as soon as we possibly can.

I live locally and visited today (Sunday) at around 8pm. I ordered a fish supper (fish and chips) and waited for around 10minutes for the order to be cooked . The food was taken home and it was instantly obvious that the fish wasovercooked and that the portion of chips consisted of the remains from bottom of the frier which were past their " sell by " to the extent that a fork struggled to pierce what was supposed to be potatoIf I pay over £6 for food in a chip shop it is not unreasonable to expect it to be edibleor for the staff to have the gumption NOT to serve up chips which should have been destined for the bin . Perhaps they were too keen to get cleaned up...Nil points !!

Every few months we indulge ourselves with a fish supper from the friendly Alyth Fish and Chip Shop. Recently I heard that upon request they also prepare the fish with a gluten free batter. We went there last night & ordered 2 of the gluten free fish suppers. We hurried home with the packages of our hot supper. We were delighted with the light crunchy batter - it was more like a delicate tempura batter so we really enjoyed it. I had planned on eating just 1/2 of my fish but it was so good I gobbled the whole thing. Besides tasting good I really liked that since the batter was gluten free, I didn't feel heavy and bloated afterwards. No wonder they won a Good Food Award in 2017 AND Best Fish and Chips Shop in Scotland in 2016!

Came here to see what all the fuss was about. Tiny little chippy on the corner but very busy. Plenty of staff all buzzing around knowing what they were doing but the star of the show is the guy that fries and takes your order. We ordered 7 different items, which he proceeded to fry there and then, without writing anything down!!! He did this whilst saying hi to the regulars and cooking the person before us food order. Friendly but very focused. Impressed and very full

Pulled into Alyth, on a drizzly Monday evening, after a short trip to Blairgowrie. We needed a fish suppper, as we hadn't eaten since breakfast. Fortunately for us, we were fourth in the queue when we got there... Cold and wet outside. I had just placed my order, when the waiting list expanded rapidly. Served up quickly by the organised staff, back in the car with our fare, I can only repeat that these fish and chips were not only welcome but also as fine a supper as any around.We eat fish out a lot and certainly would recommend this wonderful wee shop to all.

When staying in the Five Roads Caravan Park we walked into town and decided to have a chippie.Food is prepared to order so always fresh and hot. We decided to walk back before eating and the food was still hot when we got back to the van. Good selection of traditional chip shop fare.

I love this place. I go there fairly regularly and i can honestly say its the best fish and chips I've had. The staff are super friendly and everything is made fresh. The shop is clean and bright and there's something on the menu for the whole family. The portions aren't stingy either.

Spurred on by the knowledge that in this chipper they display a Certificate of Excellence issued by Trip Advisor and with a free Saturday Evening after a busy day, we decided to visit another of our old haunts and found ourselves parked in The Square at Alyth along with a good few other couples bent on the same adventure.The reputation of this wee Fish friar reaches far and wide. The queue "oot the door" might put all but hardy off, but I joined it on the pavement outside and was very surprised how quickly it dissipated and I was out again with my haul in no time for two good reasons. 1. The highly efficient way it is run with the Frier Himself, the Wrapper (no, not EMINEM) and the Cashier girl... All with the greatest of grace and gratefullness. 2. The size of the place... It's not big, so a dozen punters and their various accomplices make up a big crowd in Alyth. By the way, great fish suppers in the car, on your lap, avec one's flask... A Pleasure.

Stopped off to try out after seeing the Alyth fish and chip shop had won an award in the paper.We were not disappointed .Fish suppers were delicious crispy tasty batter and lovely fresh fish. The chips were cooked perfectly too.Will be returning soon to try other favourites from the menu.I can't wait!

Have got to be honest about my first visit to the award winning chippie .Although the fish was tasty, the chips were too bland for my liking.No complaints about the staff who were very efficient.All in all, I have tasted better else where for a lot cheaper.

Stayed a week in Alyth and this chippy was highly recommended. Very tasty fish and chips which we were able to enjoy outside as it was a nice night. Queues most nights from 4.39 so you know they are doing something right. Would highly recommend.
