Alpino in Islington

Been coming here for 44 years (as the Alpini for most of them). Absolutely faultless, clean and fantastic value for a lovely breakfast. I really wish all concerned the very best you are keeping the very high standards of previous owners over the years.

Delicious, hearty and fresh Italian food at a reasonable price. My girlfriend and I loved it and we’ll certainly return on our next visit to London.

Very nice Italian cafe, with Italian chef and waiters. Menu is a big selection of pasta dishes, also a selection of traditional British cafe food like full English and eggs on toast. Something for everyone. Good coffee, too.

Excellent cafe. Formerly Alpino’s, they’ve been in the business of making simple, delicious meals for years. Best omelette in town (if you know your omelettes) Highly recommend.

16/03/2024 10:57am My friend and I ordered a jumbo £12+Spanish omelette £7+ tea £1.5, as you can see in the picture - we had two teas (one is free that come with the jumbo). This will be £20.5 in total, but they charged me £23.5 (receipt) which is £3 extra! (I didn't notice at that time.) I might be go back again and arguing for this!!! What a terrible restaurant! If you are thinking about going, pay extra attention to your BILLS, otherwise they will charge you for extra in a way that you don't notice! RUDE! RACISM! 03/04/2024 updated The reason I indicated that it was RACISM is because we are Asian, and the waitress came to us at least three times to put away our dishes. We told her we have not finished yet and she walked away with rudeness. At the end at around 10.30am, she told us the table we have is reserved and forced us to leave by 11am. (At the time we were in the phone call so that there is a witness) The thing you might not know is we stayed there untill 11.30 and there were NO customers taking that table at all. You guys did not even ask other customers to leave out by a certain time, or you can ask us to move to other tables if you really need that table for a reservation anyway. What a ridiculous experience we had in London! Plus: I am pretty sure that Spanish omelette was £7 as I took a picture of your menu on the day.

Hiya waitress here 👋🏻!! This is a picture of our menu of the Spanish omelette which is in fact £10 and not £7 like in the recent review which would make your total £23.50 with the £12 jumbo breakfast and £1.50 extra tea. We would never over charge our customers!!

Fortunately the qualities of Alpino Cafe have been transferred to Casa Fabrizi. Great food, great staff. Please never change.

Amazing food and a warm atmosphere in this cosy family owned Italian caffe, in the heart of Angel. Lovely and very friendly staff, with a menu that spans from full English breakfast to delicious and authentic pasta dishes. They're even open in the evenings for dinner (5-9pm)! We've been coming here for over 15 years, it's a proper little gem!

Fantastic fresh cooked food the owners and staff are very nice...highly recommend... it moved across the road and is called 'Casa Fabrizi' Now

Been going to the Alpino for years, since I was a kid. I was sceptical when they moved, thought it would all change. It looks different, but the love a fab food is still there. Love it.

Not just a fry up place. I had the American breakfast with a white coffee. I got a wonderful plate with fresh delicious pancakes, nice scrambled eggs, and perfectly cooked sausage and bacon. I will be back and take friends, what a find! PS: still going - I have not found a better café in London

The best cafe around Islington ! good quality food, charming staff, always happy to help ! Breakfast or lunch this is the only place we go to for breakfast in Islington, whether it's a full English or an American breakfast it's great . Thanks guys

Very much enjoyed the food, nice little place to eat, the coffee was very nice and decent prices, the atmosphere was a little noisy this time round as there was a couple of crying babies but nevertheless very good

Yuk. Just had Eggs Florentine. They used cold mayonnaise instead of Hollandaise on the eggs. Too busy and everyone squashed together. Ridiculously big plates which take up all the table space with no room for your cup! Plates half empty as the food portions were small.

The folks at Alpino Cafe (the original spot, across the way, unfortunately having to close) make some of the best full english breakfast in London, at a VERY reasonable price (£10 for 2 toast, 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 rashers, 2 black pudding, beans, mushrooms, and tomatoes PLUS a tea/coffee to me, with no service charge, is quite frankly, a steal). They are a family business having operated I believe for 60+ years, are always friendly/welcoming/efficient, and you should go support them, a local family establishment, for quality, delicious food!

The best cafe in North London / Central London bar none! the jumbo English breakfast is the best I've ever had and I've tried many! never as good! The Spagetti Carbonara is delicious also! The staff is very professional, place is independent owned, has a special atmosphere, what more could you ask for.

Stopped off for a late breakfast and was not disappointed. Great breakfast food and they do a great fried slice. Service is wonderful and friendly. Portions are large and you'll leave stuffed.

Excellent breakfast with fast and courteous service. They get the basics right — crisp hash browns, good Cumberland sausage, and eggs cooked to a soft yolk. The coffee was good as well.

It's gotten much more expensive since the pandemic, and the sandwich fillings are rather meagre. Much better places around, sadly.

Super nice family run business!!! We have eating from here for over 4 year’s and absolutely love their breakfast and lunch. Each day they have a different special, for example Italian, traditional and chefs own Italian combinations and honestly to my taste it’s better than most Italian restaurants for half the price. For definitely recommend, especially for their daily specials. They deserve the 5* everyday.

This is an absolutely unique place where you can feel like you are in London and Italy at the same time (however, a few decades ago). The portions are very big while the bill is rather small! The food is absolutely amazing!

I came in with a friend for a coffee and enjoyed a very decent cappuccino. The cafe was busy which is a good sign. The menu is very extensive so I would definitely give it a go for food if I was in the area.

Found this cute, family owned place by chance! We were super happy with the food, it was delicious and fresh. Loved the coffee too! Absolutely recommend for breakfast, didn’t have any other food so can’t comment. Had breakfast in a different place the next day because this was the opposite way, but to be honest should’ve come here anyway hahaha.

Food was good... Ambiance good... Waitress needs to keep eye on customers when they are ready to order. She had her back to customers and chatting while I wanted to order... Looked over, saw me, carried on chatting. But pleasant enough when she did decide to do what she's paid for.

Been walking past Alpino since I was a child in the 1980s. Never been inside till now! The owner been there for 50 years. We must have seen each other passing all those years ago. Simple comfort food. Great value and large portions. Coffee is very good.

Excellent no fuss breakfast. The Full English is huge, delicious and great value. We also had other breakfast items which were all excellent. All served with authentic rich Italian Coffee.....perfect!

Myself and a friend called in here as it was lunch time and we were hungry. Great menu many choices. The cafe was quite busy but fast service and friendly staff. The food was freshly cooked and very tasty. This kind of traditional cafe is rare nowadays please dont change it. Will come here again without a doubt

Always absolutely fantastic. A real gem with such an extensive menu and great prices. Staff are wonderful and always helpful. It is a good, old fashioned cafe. It is honest with very high standards. A regular place we visit. Wonderful always. Recommend the spaghetti bolognaise and any breakfasts.

Alpino Is a nice friendly cafe with good food. We sat outside watching the market go on around us.

Having got lost on a run and ending up doing 10 miles instead of 10k, I was famished and needed a bit of a treat. The American Pancakes set me up for a full day of exhibiting at the nearby Business Design Centre. I didn't need to eat until tea time! Great quality food, really quick service, very friendly staff and amazing value. A great find!
