Easily the best of the 3 AF locations. Very sad to see you go.

food was lovely but it took over an hour for us to receive our food :( Waitress with the red hair was great though and offered us a free drink for the wait.

They added a service charge to the bill without even mentioning it. Only notice after I had paid as they came to table with card machine ready to tap. It’s bad enough adding it to the bill by default and as most people will feel too awkward to ask to remove it and so have to pay it. But then to also not even tell the customer one has been added to the total on the card machine is really bad. Very rude to assume, let people tip what they want, not be forced into 10%, this isn’t America.

Ordered burgers for delivery. My husband’s chicken burger was burnt black. So bad he couldn’t eat it so it went in the bin. The cheese burgers and fries were ok though. Very disappointed with the quality.

It’s a bit disappointed. There’s a lot of 5 star reviews here. It’s supposed they’re good in making burgers but the patties are overcooked. That’s terribly dry and hard. We have ordered Phoenix Fries as well. it’s slightly spicy, sweet and sour but I can’t say it tastes good. Someone may like it. I don’t know. The service is nice. Atmosphere is chill. But for me, they’re overpriced and overrated.

The service was decent, but that's about all I can give praise for. The food portions were abysmal for the price. Despite getting a burger with three patties, the patties were woefully small and thin compared to the picture of it in the menu. The cost of £14 for a burger without fries or a drink is absurd and the quality of the burger was subpar. I could've got more for that money in a more respectable establishment. To top it all off, a mandatory service charge was placed for essentially service you'd expect at bare minimum - hence why the lower rating for service. Don't visit, it's far too expensive and I feel scammed.

Atmosphere was a bit dead, the service was really good However the food i had was awful, 3 pattys and brisket that were all burnt and over salted left an awful taste in my mouth, couldn't even finish most of it.. all that for £13 without any fries And on top of that all, a £4 service charge!!! I can see why its almost famous Wouldn't recommend it at all

Ordered on Deliveroo. Absolutely terrible burgers. The 2 famous burgers were both burnt black, dry, hard, inedible. It's disgusting that it even left the kitchen. Whoever let that happen should be embarrassed. It went straight in the bin.

Ordered burger and got complimentary Chees balls

Great place for burgers with creative toppings and generous portions. The lively atmosphere and friendly service make it a must-visit spot. Their whole menu is Halal so that’s a plus!

Fantastic burgers, ridiculously good loaded fries, and reasonably priced too. A decent sub-selection of the menu can be ordered veggie or vegan, which was useful. It was a bit quiet when we went, but that's not surprising for a Tuesday evening, and also meant no issues getting a table. Great place to drop in for a bite!

Amazing burgers. I had the bandit burger, which was perfect. I shared a portion of the phoenix fries, which I would definitely have again. What's also great is that it's Halal, so pork free. My sons are actually able to eat anything on the menu. Very friendly service, you're made to feel welcome. Would definitely come again.

Best veggie burger I’ve ever had. There seems to be a general lack of care with veggie burgers as often the cheese is not melted, the patty is half cooked, and the buns aren’t toasted. But boy, the veggie burger at Almost Famous in Withington was fantastic!! I ordered the Bandit Burger which was delicious. Toasted soft brioche bun, melted cheese, cooked veggie patty, crispy potato tots. 10/10. The staff were also very nice - what a banging restaurant.

Always served by lovely servers. Take the kids often and they love it. Brought my mates too and it’s a great vibe for later on with good cocktails (and mocktails) decor and music. The addition of the pool tables at the back always finishes my trip to this Almost Famous on a high - plus it makes it unique to the rest! The food never misses and is always top notch as well as it being halal so all my mates can join. This place is an asset to Withington!

I've been going to AF for years and years now. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu, but found the Phoenix burger and Pig and Waffle fries were my sweet spot. Sadly, these aren't available any more as Withington decided to change to only halal certified ingredients. I was told that the Bandit burger and BBQ Waffle fries would be the ones to order - sadly they really didn't deliver on flavour at all and are no substitute. Whilst I understand that going halal opens their doors to a more diverse customer base, which is always good....the food doesn't really hit the mark for me any more. Oh well...I'll just have to go to one of the other locations next time. Good luck Withington AF....I know you've been struggling recently, so I hope you manage to turn things around.

Overpriced for what it is. Service was very slow . Would only go back for 50% off offers.

Really tasty burgers. Fun atmosphere. Quick and efficient service. Music is sometimes a bit too loud so not ideal for large groups.

Possibly the best burgers in Manchester. I've tried most of them on the menu and never disappointed. They are sooo filling. We typically have 1 burger and 1 side each and are stuffed. The cocktails are great too which are always of offer when you buy 2. Staff are very tentative and always greet you with a smile. Hope to be going for many more years to come👍 If definitely worth doing the bottomless brunch too when it's on.

Almost Famous are always brilliant for burgers and fries. We went for half price burgers to celebrate the one year anniversary at Withington. I'd recommend the Animal!

Staff were just so rude. I work front of house and know customers can be difficult but my drinks didn’t come and I asked nicely and staff didn’t apologise and looked me up and down like a pain. every time I’ve been I order vegetarian and it always comes vegan which is a little disappointing. For the price of about £20pp I’d like to get the food I ordered. The staff just really made us feel like a burden on their time the restaurant wasn’t near full.

Amazing offer for bottomless brunch - burger, unlimited cocktails, fries and wings for £37.50. Staff were really attentive and lovely! Food was delicious. The staff were amazing with my friend who is celiac and she felt very safe eating there.

Great burgers, kids half term offer was fantastic. Ordered the animal and the loaded mac cheese chicken burger, wings and home alone burgers for kids.. They were decent portions and tasted great.. Staff helpful and friendly

Food was great I tried the chicken burger and the beef one of them came with a dip I opted for the melted cheese it was 🤌 the chicken was a bit dry but it was fine because of the dip. It was a bit chilly inside but the aesthetic was cool the tables the disco ball and art on the walls.

Only thing that was OK was the burger. Wings were not clean and were bruised/bloody. Fries were greasy. Atmosphere is like being in a pub and decor looks unfinished with paint peeling on walls and bare plaster. They also decide to add service charge as a bill item. Service was poor with no one being around. No condiments on table or offered.

Great building, very spacious. The service lacked a bit though and there was only us in the place at that time of day, took a long time for the food to arrive 🙁 really disappointed that the pulled pork fries wasn't on the menu.

I am in here multiple times a week doing deliveries and I can say for sure everyone inside loves the atmosphere, is really enjoying the quality of the burgers and when I drop the food off to customers they are always the ones (out of everyone) that will give me a tip because they had such a great meal! It proves that it is possible to run an efficient delivery service from your business whilst also running a quality restaurant. Fair play to them

Nipped in at lunch time. Ordered an awesome hq burger and pizza fries. And a coke. Drinks turned up 1st 15 min wait for food, January was 1/2 price burgers so 15quid burger was decent, messy but worth a visit

Amazing food and service, super expensive but they’ve got a deal on atm for half price off all burgers in January so we went in. Customer service was fab, food was cooked to perfection and I was full for hours!

Loved the cool atmosphere and vibe! Great place to go with friends and family. Plenty of seating. Almost Famous stacked burgers fully halal. There are plenty of sides my favourite side was the Mac balls. Milkshakes, mocktails and much more.

AF always bangs! I knew the Almost Famous festive menu would be a must have again this year. Although I was unaware the Withington branch had an altered offering due to recently becoming fully halal. Fortunately the 'Some other nutcracker' burger still absolutely slapped! I did miss the addition of the sausage roll on the top and other pork parts but the mac ball and chicken were a nice alternative. An extra burger patty was great too because they were incredible. Melt in the mouth beef. Beautifully crisp fried chicken with a nice slavering of sweet cranberry chilli jam. Amazing Christmas slaw to add some crunch too! Can't forget to mention the tasty gravy aswell. AF is just the best for messy mouthwatering meat stacks. The wonder tots are also a must and I couldn't resist a basket of those fluffy delights covered in delicious bacon mayo and chipotle honey. Devine. Just as the other AF branches the restaurant is fantastically kitted out and had cool Christmas decs up. The staff were also friendly and pretty efficient. I certainly plan to be back next year to try the normal menu. Next visit: Didn't take me long to return! 'The Other Guy' burger was another top tier meat stack. Delicious pulled beef and the beef patties as always were smack. Juicy and flavourful. A good amount of refreshing slaw. All housed in a soft sweet buttered bun. I changed things up from my usual order of dirty tots and had the phoenix fries. They were also fantastic. Fresh, crispy fries with a generous covering of scrumptious sauces. I also had the 'Pho-king' chicken blasts. These were really tasty but not quite as enjoyable as the last time I had them because they were mostly quite dry. Lovely staff and a cool venue with 50% off burgers. Overall, a cracking result!

As a bit of an AF officionado, this was the last AF in the country on my list. Can understand the Halal menu based on the area, but I REALLY missed the bacon rain... (Turkey Bacon anyone?) Shoestring onions on the phoenix fries were pretty great alternative, and it was good to see a different twist on the menu, it makes this AF unique - the Christmas special was a sight for sore eyes, despite the distinct lack of pig!

Best burger I’ve had in a WHILE!!! Staff were awesome, such attention to detail at this place!! Their kids menu was also perfect for my daughter!! Will defo be coming back in the near future.

Some gaff, burgers be of a legendary status. I can’t stop eating the HOT AF blasts with a cold Bev. Young waiter called Josh, gave great service, really great guy.

Walked in with the intention of ordering the same thing I've been ordering for years of going AF (Bacon Bacon Fries and a River Pheonix burger). Neither are on the reinvented menu which does not cater for those who have been a fan of AF for years. They are now charging £5.50 for fries with bacon mayo on (same cost as the original al bacon bacon fries). Walked straight back out - will not be going AF again until what I enjoyed is back on the menu.

Nice food. Recently their menu has become fully halal but they serve alcohol. Philly cheeseburger was cooked well and tasty but a little smaller than the price would suggest. The fries were very nice as well and a very large portion. Overall nice meal but little pricey

We booked. We arrived The music was VERY loud We weren't 'greeted' in anyway. The disinterested waitress waved at some empty tables. We sat down. It really didn't feel at all good so we left. They shrugged as we left

Ordered 2 times via Deliveroo. First time we ordered beef burgers. Raw. Tasteless smelt terrible. Second time we tried the chicken sandwich. Dry very watery chicken. Not worth anything over £3 you get in your local takeaway literally across the road from them.

The service here is the best compared to other Almost Famous Branches I have been to. The girl that served me (brown hair and a grey bandana) was really helpful. Pointing out what can be made veggie and helping with any questions. The food was good, just normal AF food. Would come to this AF again.

Almost Famous is my favourite burger place this withington branch is a great addition. Great staff and burgers are amazing. The only problem the night we went was a large group of lads being so loud made us want to leave quickly. Staff did tell them to keep it down a bit but that lasted about 5 mins before they were shouting at each other again.

Great Burgers and loaded carby sides but let down by the service! This was my 4th time visiting the Withington site but lost count of the times visiting the wider AF estate. I have held back from leaving a review the first few times visiting due to it being a new site with new staff and equipment as well as any other teething problems. The food I can happily say is now great with any of the original issues being ironed out, I had the Southside burger which was really good as well as a side of the tater tots which were also amazing, on par with the other AF's. However, the overall service on my recent visit was still not great. No issues with staff being rude etc., rather the issue seems to be with them simply forgetting you are there. Nobody checks on the food once it has been delivered to the table and this is normally the opportunity for me to ask for another drink (even better when staff see empty glasses and come and ask anyway), empty plates remain on tables for considerable amounts of time after finishing also so no opportunity to ask for the bill (after deciding that even if we eventually got to order another drink it wouldn't be worth the wait). It got to a point where we had to go and ask ourselves for the bill. The restaurant was also no where near capacity at this time. Not going to stop using the restaurant but I really hope there is a bit more service training between now and my next visit.

Update: After initially receiving less-than-inspiring burgers at Almost Famous in Withington on the first visit, Jenn reached out and offered us a complimentary second visit. We visited again last week and it was as we’d hoped. The burgers were stacked and delicious, the chicken was again really good (plus the ‘hot AF’ variety is awesome). We were impressed the second time round, so thank you. Highly recommend the ‘Blame It On The Whiskey’ burger and the ‘Hot AF chicken blasts’ 👌🏻👌🏻

I really wanted to like this new branch of Almost Famous as the NQ and Deansgate branches are firm favourites of mine on the Manchester burger scene. However, the burgers were not as stacked and hefty as I remembered them to be and looked pretty average. My friends and I ordered three different burgers, all of which were tasty but didn’t look anything like the stacked Almost Famous burgers at other branches, or even the burgers they have on their Instagram. I’m unsure as to whether this is an isolated branch issue or whether this is the new standard of food at AF. Either way, it’s disappointing as it feels as if they were skimping on ingredients. However, on a positive note, the service was excellent.

My sister is a chef and was craving Almost famous so we brought her here for her birthday. It’s messy and large and delicious. Could tell this branch is new as the vibes weren’t quite vibing but we had a lovely waitress, dark long haired girl. Our aging parents winged about there not being hot drinks 😅

Had the best experience with great service and excellent food as usual from AF. They treat my dog as a king (he is a king). The chef asked to meet him and even made him his own burger. All the staff were excellent, thanks for a great meal!

A really lovely Father’s Day meal. Great kids menu simple and excellent value. The burgers were super tasty and the chicken burger was immense, enormous and with a crisp coating with lots of flavour. The service was friendly and welcoming, inside the atmosphere was bringing a central Manchester vibe to the suburb which was a nice change. Had a great afternoon and a much needed siesta afterwards 😂

We were able to get in last minute so we’re pleased. Took a while to get served and then for the food to come. When it did come it was really tasty. I never like it when service charge is automatically added to the bill, especially as we were only a group of 4.

I hate to be “that guy” leaving the first non excellent review, but unfortunately we have just had a rather mediocre experience at the new “Almost Famous”. Having visited both the old NQ and excellent Great Northern site many times in the past we were excited to visit the brand new Withington site. The decor of the new restaurant is excellent, albeit mostly installed by the previous tenant’s. Lots of nice details and quite a unique feel. We arrived early and were greeted by a friendly member of staff and promptly seated. Our order was taken for both drinks and food shortly after sitting down. Unfortunately, the tables were very sticky by what I can only assume were the incorrectly set sweets that had been placed in resin on the table. A lot of them are sticking through the resin and have made the surface extremely sticky and unpleasant to rest your arms on. Presumably this was a rushed afterthought just before opening as the edges of the tables are covered with electrical tape. Our drinks didn’t arrive after about 10 minutes, and were clearly forgotten, but after making eye contact with the waiting staff she quickly realised and reminded the bar staff that they had not been given to the bar and subsequently arrived soon after. The food was good but no way near as good as the other sites, the portion was stingy and wasn’t packed the brim like we had previously experienced. Ultimately we only paid £5 for the burgers so we weren’t too disheartened, but improvements are definitely needed, especially in the floor staff. Our opinion would’ve been vastly different had we have paid full price. We will revisit and wish the owners every success as we have genuinely loved the food we’ve had at the other venues, but the Withington branch felt unfinished and poorly staffed. It didn’t feel like the other AF places we have visited. It wasn’t a terrible meal, we were just expecting more from a place we know and love. P.S. there were other elements that we weren’t particularly impressed by, but they could’ve been rectified should we have spoken up, but we chose not to, so I will refrain from including them in my review.

Great service, great food, great venue

Located in a beautiful old building with super high ceilings and some fun and funky murals on the walls- from an inverted McD M and neon signs, manga style graffiti Tables are well spaced so you don’t feel on top of each other. The bar is prominent in the middle and the kitchen is over on the far right The menu is just the right size with great choices. We ordered: Southside burger Juicy double burger Famous burger- vegan Liberty Island chicken burger 3 lots of fries: Stealth, winning, pizza waffle 2 wings: BBQ and Hot AF 2 chicken blasts: Plain and Teriyaki We were a group of 5 with 1 vegetarian Everyone enjoyed their meals and we sent back completely empty baskets We preferred chicken blasts to chicken wings and the Hot AF wings were literally mouth numbing- so get the sauce on the side! Atmosphere is bright and airy Depending on time of day you will find families and kids earlier and couples later.

Amazing addition to withington Village. Wishing you every success. We've already booked a table for the next time!
