This is a sit outside only coffee shack, one of my favourite stops whilst cycling. Beautiful views of the Barbican

Best hot chocolate, callebaut chocolate and delicious properly hot milk… so rare to get a really good hot chocolate and essential when you can’t drink coffe. Good choice of alternative milks and reasonable pricing too. The women running the cafe were super friendly and helpful. So impressed, finding this little Plymouth gem made my day.

Usually buy coffee on The Hoe, as there was no one being served thought I would support this take away. Young lady was pleasant but the older guy was very rude to the point he passed me my coffee with not a word. I said "Thank you", still nothing. It cost nothing to be pleasant to your customers, having worked with the general public I know. Coffee was more expensive than my usual place. Wont be returning.

We were walking past on our way to the aquarium, and spotted that they were doing cannoli for less than a pound each. I got one each of the chocolate, white chocolate, lemon and pistachio and they were all delicious. Great value for a little snack.

If they spent less time talking to their friends and ignoring customers, they'd actually get business.

Absolutely delightful staff making truely delicious coffee. So glad I stopped for a coffee here.

They sell GLUTEN FREE CANNOLI 😋 they are a joy to eat on the cute little harbour.

Very very rude staff especially the awful manager. The food seemed stale and crummy (wouldn't be getting a cannoli from them again.) Burnt coffee unfortunately.

Stopped at this cafe in the morning around 9am, few people, peaceful and quiet. It’s a great place to chill and enjoy the view of boats. Great coffee and very nice barista

Great Latte, Americano and Hot chocolate.

Such a lovely place with great coffee (knowing how good the coffee is a sip had to be taken before the photo attached was taken so i apologise). Especially the young lady with blonde hair and glasses, always so quick and lovely, alongside the excellent coffee’s! We go often and it has never faltered with the great quality, definitely recommend!

My favorite Cappuccino & Latte... by far the BEST coffee (non specialty) on the Barbican.

Very friendly team. I tried the pistachio and the lemon cannolis. The cream is packed with flavour, subtle, and not too sweet. Very good coffee too ☺️ Will defo be back for more

Great-tasting lattes are reasonably priced against the two big coffee chains in the city. A superior takeaway coffee to be found here.

Happy new year. Nasty man asked us to move from the tables we were just about to have fish and chips from the fish shop and buy coffees and cannoli is from him and he made us move. Wouldn’t serve us coffee as he wasn’t in the mood. !!!!Nice man ! Will never go there again … quite happy to shout this from the security of his hut in front of everyone. …

Hard to base a review on product alone, when the staff member serving suddenly rushes out to a nearby car and starts shouting and swearing at the man by the car. It was all very uncomfortable, and left a bitter taste!

Very good coffee, I have made this my morning stop when on my way to work.

A beautiful week spent in week in Plymouth. Whilst walking along the Barbican on our first evening we enjoyed a hot drink @ Alfresco served by Grace. With a beautiful setting, great service & delicious drinks a trip to Alfresco became the perfect start & end to our busy days exploring Plymouth. We became regulars for the week. We would highly recommend the vanilla latte, oat milk lattes & hot chocolates! Thank you Grace & Alfresco hope to see you again when we visit Plymouth next.

Visited this cafe years ago and was impressed. It has maintained its standards. The Alfs breakfast is good value and great quality. Super helpful staff. Well worth a diversion to visit.

Only had a hot chocolate, but by far the best one I've ever tasted- not grainy and lukewarm, made Mothers Day stroll even more enjoyable.

We love this place! The coffee is amazing and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. The canoli's are a nice treat to go with the coffee. They offer a range of different milks and their hot chocolate is also really tasty on a cooler day. We love sitting on their chairs in front of Alfresco enjoying the views over the marina. We would definitely recommend Alfresco!

I would really avoid this place, the hygiene is terrible i seen cold water in washing up bowel in the back and no bins, the staff have no idea how to add up so make sure you get the right change from your money, the worst is the owner of the Alfresco property, he treats females customers really badly and should not be in charge, if he worked for me i would have sacked him.

As a real Italian this coffee is rubbish. The owner is rude and rude to his own staff. Don’t go here.

Reasonable coffee and very pleasant to sit overlooking the marina and activities by the lock gate. Unfortunately situated quite close to the public toilets.

Only criticism is there is no bin for your cups. Went to place them on counter thinking they would have a bin there and was told to take them to a public bin away from the premises. Wouldn’t go again.

Incredible services great staff a d lovely coffee. Definitely worth stopping by if you're having some time on the Barbican and the cannoli are amazing too.

Reading all the glowing reviews about the coffees.....perhaps we were just unlucky? We have always walked passed this unusual coffee place as we’re not lovers of drinks in cardboard cups, but our usual place was very busy, so decided to give it a go. After just ok service, and quite a long wait for the coffees we sat by the marina and watched the world go by. Idyllic apart from the seagulls dive bombing and the rather disappointing coffees, which were rather tasteless. The pastries looked good so perhaps we will have to try it again and see if it is a better experience.

Lived in Plymouth 20+ years. Always passed this place. Had a coffee last week and now hooked. Amazing Coffee and such a friendly service. Nothing too difficult for Grace and always a smile. Definitely recommend.

This is one of the best cups of coffee in the whole of Plymouth and always delicious. I walk out of my way to get my coffee here. The staff are always friendly...Hollie and Grace very kind to me today..

Had several ice creams from here. Totally recommend the chocolate flavour, light and creamy as any ice cream should be. Addictive and delicious.

The Historic Barbican and Alfresco is a great place to sit awhile, enjoy a Delicious Creamy Coffee and take in the History and Atmosphere that this old place has to offer. Great Service and a Great Coffee in a lovely part of Plymouth. What more could you want on a Sunny Warm Day.

After a long wait our less than 1/4 'large' coffee which had been all froth, was reluctantly topped up. Other customers at the time suffered the same poor service

We were out and about on the Barbican and as the Sun kept its promise and shone brightly we stopped off at Alfresco to enjoy an Italian Coffee and sit awhile to take in the mid morning warmth. Lovely friendly welcome from the Barista and we had Lattes which were very very enjoyable and great tasting. Good selection of Drinks available as well as Snacks. Open and Shaded Seating gives you a good option and Prices are very competitive.

We absolutely love this place! The coffee is well worth the walk across the hoe to the Barbican, or away from the town centre. The service if friendly and professional, and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad coffee from these guys. Please don’t settle for the chain coffee shops.. go for a stroll for an extra 5 minutes and not only enjoy the beautiful Barbican setting but also discover a proper Italian coffee. There’s water for doggies too! Thank you Annie and Grace!

We sat with our grandchildren having coffee and we found they were very good with the children. You also get a good view of the waterfront.

Coffee was OK, but the smallest note I had was £20. I apologised for this to the young lady serving. She replied that it was no problem, but my change was £10 short. On pointing this out I simply received a grudging acknowledgement, no apology when the outstanding change was handed over, I think this was no accident, so Watch your Change !

After bad weather for most of holiday our las day was dry. Went for coffee and sat in sunshine looking at the harbour and people watching. Just had a drink but food looked nice and staff were friendly

Me apetecía un café, y sabía exactamente dónde ir - Lanzadores y Adrian's al aire libre empresa subiendo la quay desde su legendario 'Cap'n Jaspers se ha convertido en una adición fabulosa a las opciones alrededor del puerto.

A really great cafe for coffee with a nice view, perfect if the weather is fine and we visited on a glorious day and really enjoyed the coffee and sitting out on the Barbican. The staff are very friendly too 😃

Lugar agradable para sentarse en el puerto en un día soleado, servicio amable, razonable y buena paninis de café. Realmente bonito (cannoli) pasteles poco llena de pistacho, limón o crema de chocolate y avellanas eran un sabroso regalo.

Precioso lugar con un buen café y algunas diferentes snacks formulario los tarros de su café. El personal es agradable. Una experiencia muy agradable. Está justo al lado de Sutton Harbour a corta distancia de los peregrinos de España. Podría haber sentado allí para edades...

We often stop here for a coffee when we walk the dog around the Hoe/Barbican. The coffee is always good & reasonably priced (we usually have a cappuccino). The service is always friendly. The view is always nice as the seating area is right by the marina.

The best Mocha I've had in a long while! I didn't have anything else as I was just passing and requiring caffeine. But the sweets look lovely and I intend to go back and try them another time.

Qui si beve uno dei migliori espresso della zona, di quelli che non ti fanno rimpiangere la patria lontana. E anche il gelato non è male, anche se più dolce del giusto, a mio avviso. Il resto non so, la mia sosta quoridiana prevedeva solo caffè e gelato, e un buon libro da leggere seduto al tavolino di fronte al mare.

Jag brukar inte gilla cappuccino men eftersom det inte finns bryggkaffe här måste jag då välja mellan caffelatte och cappuccino. Jag valde cappuccino och jag blev frälst! Riktig god cappuccino! Prova den med en cannoli med choklad och ni blir inte besvikna. Dessutom är deras glass väldig god.

Passed by after eating lunch locally. I'd spotted the cheesecake on our way past earlier and we popped in to get a takeaway on our back. Cheesecake was wonderfully creamy and very tasty. We also had some canoli - they sell a range of these - some small ones in jars which come in from Sicily and some bigger, freshly made ones. Both were nice, but the fresh one was particularly good. Will definately pop in for dessert again another time!

Called in late afternoon today. Warm early September Tuesday. A small selection left. Not a lot of interest from the servers. We had a quick drink and moved on. No inclination to dally or return.

We went for a walk across The Hoe on Sunday and decided that coffee and cake were definitely needed. We stopped at the Alfresco at 17.50 and ordered a drink and a small cake each, we had just sat down when they started packing up, we had a young man telling us that "it was time to go folks" and said that he didn't work there he was just helping the girls pack up. OK, I understand we all want to go home at the end of the day, but if you are getting ready to go please do not serve people and then try to hurry them, It would have been far better to tell us they were waiting to go and we would have gone next door who were still open and serving. The coffee was Ok the cake was fine and at £5 it was reasonable, the hurrying however, we could well done without and we will not use them again.

It is a weird object. No wheels or rails. Plymouth crests, sign written South Western Tram, destination board says Milano, windows as if from a 50s ambulance, all looking like a child's two berth static play caravan/shed. It ought to be at West Hoe by the toy railway engine circuit. But it's on the Barbican and it sells unaffordable bad value coffee and snack food.

Came by yesterday, had not heard of it. A genuine surprise, pricey and not at at all sure what it holds itself out to be, quite a confused personality. Not a bad one off experience. Looked at the Facebook page when I got home. Still not sure what it is or will be.
