Family treat turned out not to be. Refused to serve a small portion of pasta, garlic pizza bread was burnt black underneath, also had cheese on which wasn't on original order, cheese pizza again was burnt black underneath. Both pasta dishes were bland with overcooked pasta. Waste of £30!!

Seems I'm the only one who bothers to review this place or even get the right Aldos or even town. Anyhoo.. here goes. First off, they are lovely people. 2nd off, their fish is fresh and cooked to order which is not the norm in West Lothian. Some folk don't like waiting for fish and prefer the tasteless, dried out, stockpiled, deep fried wallpaper paste excuse for a fish supper. I don't so that's why I go to Aldos. Not the Aldos in Bathgate that shutdown years ago or the truly awful Aldos in Uphall but ken, Aldos in Longridge, heading for Fauldhouse. Great wee chippy. They do a braw Hornigs Haggis fritter for an extra 90p if yer Hank Marvin.

Yep. Fortnightly visit. Always fresh. Always consistent. The one & only chippy in the whole county that makes a wee bit of an effort. It's not rocket science but the other chippies are either too lazy or just don't care. Aldos - still the best by a mile.

Address is a bit misleading. It's neither Aldos in Uphall or the old Aldos in Bathgate. If you check map reference, it's actually in Longridge, just south of Whitburn. Don't get them mixed up. This is the only good fish and chip shop in West Lothian. The main reason?... He uses fresh grade 'a' angel haddock & cooks them to order instead of stockpiling & 'air drying' them for an hour like the rest of them do. It's that simple. He does lovely fresh pasta dishes too. Worth the 10 minute drive out of Bathgate to get a decent fish. Friendly too.

Food is great, best chippy about. Everything always fresh and hot! Fish is really worth the wait. Staff can be a bit dry and quite rude on occasions, unless your a local that they know! But the food is what we go for anyway

Was in tonight at about 7:30pm 24/11 getting a takeaway for the family, we’ve been a few times and love it here. However, I was met tonight with the most miserable woman, so rude and unwelcoming I couldn’t believe it, who just glared at me like an idiot throughout my entire order and waiting time. She was short with hooped earrings and dirty blonde hair. It’s a shame because the food is lovely, so I will stick to ordering online.

We had a takeaway from here while staying just a few doors up in the lovely village of Longridge. The food was delicious, very decently priced, good portion sizes, and a quick and friendly service. Would definitely stop here again on our next visit to Longridge.

We stayed in Longridge and Aldo's was just a few blocks away. We picked up food and it was all great price, large portions, and delicious! We had never tried haggis and the owner sent us home with it to try, we loved it! We met the owners and they were wonderful people, what a joy to stop by this great neighborhood establishment for good fast food and lovely people.

Fish supper - well cooked, no soggy batter and nice chips that have a decent flavour. Served quickly, food piping hot and tasty. Big choice off the menu - pastas, suppers, kebabs, pizzas etc plus juice and sweets too so worth stopping in or go for the home delivery service.

Went to Aldo's when I was recently in the area and was blown away by the quality and quantity you got in the £10 mega box! We couldn't get into the Oatridge Hotel as I hadn't booked a table and the girl on the desk...

Chips are re-heats for the most part. Fish is lovely but greasy. It really is like being back in 1972 and I love it! Wish there were more chippies like this in West Lothian

Aldo's is well above average for an area which is a virtual desert when it comes to good fish & chip shops. At least the fish in here is pretty fresh which cannot be said of the majority of other places in the county. They still don't really cook the stuff to order & generally fall into the same trap as the rest by stockpiling stuff which can lie in the heater for ages. So,in essence, if you happen to drop in at the right time, when the fish are just out of the fryer, then it can be quite pleasant. Having lived in Aberdeen for a while, I know what a good fish supper is supposed to taste like - I just wish more of the chippes in West Lothian would try a little harder - the standards here are so low that no one seems to care or know any better. At between £5.40-6 a supper nowadays, all fish should be very fresh & cooked to order. This place is without doubt the best of a very bad bunch.

Terrible experience. Facebook page said it opened at 11am, it didn’t open until 12, the closed sign stayed on the door until the 4th customer entered and asked if it was open. Took 20mins to get a coffee although we were the only people there. I ordered all day breakfast plus size (extra £3) but the menu didn’t say what you get for an extra £3. It was one piece of haggis & one piece of black pudding, both weren’t great. Sausage was cheap, the egg was overcooked and crispy on the bottom, beans were watery, bacon ok. I asked for toast. It came on top of the breakfast which made it soggy, i had to ask for butter and a side plate for the toast, i got possibly stork, it certainly wasn’t butter, i had to ask for the plate twice. Still only two of us to serve. The salad roll was ok, the coleslaw wasn’t coleslaw, it was chopped up lettuce & cucumber with mayo. It came to £22.00 Not worth the money, service was poor although it was a nice setting. I paid with cash (2x £20 notes) they didn’t have change. I was given £8.00 change and informed the staff i was £10 short. They didn’t have anymore change in the till. Between two staff to ‘mustered’ up a £10.00 note between them. Really really poor you cannot it right (never mind wrong a few times) with two staff for only two customers. I wouldn’t go back if the food was free.

This is a wonderful slice of Scottish culture. Food, friendship, and tradition are rich and plentiful. Housed in a charming venue outside of Edinburgh, it is worth finding and driving to. There is absolutely no doubt that Kenny and his team will make you feel welcome. If you’re looking for a fast meal, forget about it. This place is about slowing down and getting to know what Scotland and its people are all about. Every single aspect of this evening is great. If I lived in Edinburgh, I would make it a point to take my family and visitors here often. I’m sure I will never forget the evening we spent there.
