Without doubt the warmest and welcoming Indian in Barnsley. Abbey and his family sum it up perfectly arrived as guests leave as friends. Nothing is too much; the thali is nothing short of amazing...and incredibly filling!

They really cannot do enough for you any dietary requirements are catered for and the chef will oblige with anything you want food is excellent and portions large highly recommended

Came here for my dad's birthday for a family meal,, some of us came from Wakefield and some from Sheffield. All the staff were lovely and a 10/10 on service. The food was beautiful compliments to the chef. Would definitely come again and advise anyone who isn't from the area to try. All the kids enjoyed it too thankyou for putting up with us 😃 Bring your own booze🍻 but still serve water and soft drinks.

Soooo disappointed 😞 had meals in the restaurant neumarous times and it was lovely but had a takeaway tonight & it was borderline awful ,cold skabby chips and a really watery bland curry sauce 🫤 I know how delicious the food is in the restaurant soooo upset it doesn't extend to their takeaway orders.

Had a lovely meal tonight. The chicken was very tender. A lovely family restaurant and a most friendly atmosphere.

Had a lovely family birthday meal at Alams lounge. The food was delicious and the owners/ waitress couldn't do enough for us. We took our own alcohol and birthday cake. The staff put a candle on top of the cake and sang happy birthday which I thought was a nice touch.

Lovely food with generous portions and very welcoming staff members. Highly recommend, we'll definitely be back again!

Good food just let down tonight by delivery, order over 1 hour late which isn’t acceptable. They’ve taken too many orders and blaming the traffic! For now this has put me off ordering from here again.

It's my third time here and it was tremendous again. Samosa was full of filling. The curry was a generous portion. The waiting staff were welcoming. Nothing bad to say about the place (other than £3.45 for a bottle of soft drink 😐)

Lovely place and food is top rate

We called in the daytime to check opening times. We wanted to specifically check if the 10:30pm closing time was correct as we had a show that evening. We arrived at 9:40 on a Saturday night and were rudely turned away with an attitude, after being told we would definitely be served on the phone. A trip there for nothing.

Ordered via takeaway. Food is quite nice, not the best by a long shot, but it's nice to see places utilising mutton instead of just lamb. Some of the spices do disagree with each other in my opinion when I ordered the mutton tikka naan. Peppers could be better if it had a softer texture. But overall decent and will be ordering again.

Take away, delivered well within the alloted timescale. Food was excellent.

Mine was a take out, just moved into the area.. Was not happy with the food, low quality food, overdone dry chicken, no flavour in the sauce, watery, nan was still like dough.. was disappointed.. Shall not be going here again.. Very sorry but I believe in honesty..

Very very average food at best. Ours was a takeaway and the korma was extremely bland, yes it's a korma but was akin to a tin of chicken in white wine sauce (a stingy amount of chicken too). Rice and nan bread was good. Had a takeaway from here before and was so much better. They have definitely cut down on meat content imo👍

Disgusting. Items missing from the order and when we phoned to let them know got terrible attitude. Was made out to be a liar. Food that did arrive was terrible. Cold, bland and watery. AVOID! In response to your reply I think you’ll find you didn’t speak to me, you spoke to my husband and I stand by the point that my food was disgusting, bland, cold and watery, with items missing. It’s funny how many negative reviews you’ve had and how many people you’ve have ‘barred’ from your establishment. Do you think maybe your attitude could be the problem? And with regard to ‘All your calls being recorded’ this wasn’t stated on by the call and as such consent was not given for it to be, which means you have now admitted to being in breach of GDPR.

Tonight I thought I would try Alams Lounge which is relatively local to me. I ordered a kabab starter, main, rice and chips. Unfortunately the chicken and Shish was rather dry and it’s safe to say the muscles of my jaw responsible for chewing got a hefty workout. Although the chicken in the main was cooked to a better standard there was a severe lack of it! When spending nearly £10 on a main from a takeaway I would expect reasonable compensation in the quantities of meat for my hard earned pennies. The meal was ultimately edible but lackluster which was a shame for me. I won’t be wasting my weakly cheat meal here again.

This restaurant is a cut above. Well prepared, quality food. Authentic and tasty. Lovely hosts and friendly staff. Beat a path to their door.

Ordered a takeaway for 3. One of the items was missing. Other items were inedible. The chicken was dry. The naan looked like a pizza base drowned in oil. Extremely disappointed.

Five of us had a really delicious take away from Alam’s Lounge last night. We tried lots of different dishes and sides and all were generous, tasty and home made. The owner and staff could not have been more helpful. Highly recommend.

Foods are always Fresh, Big portion and Tasty. Best Restaurant in Barnsley. we have tried different places in Barnsley but always let us down. If you’re hungry expecting big portion of food which is best value of Money Then Alam’s Lounge for you.

The customer service is pathetic. I called them for ordering and asked what’s best they serve however the owner himself was on the call and sounded so rude. He reverted saying that all dished are good, you need to tell me quickly what do you want to order, we are very busy. It sounded as if he wasn’t even interested in suggesting or talking to the customer for taking the order. Its been twice that I have faced rude behaviour issue with this restaurant, forget about the food , at first instance only these people ruin your mood.

DISMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Called up this evening and was instantly told to wait 1 minute by the young lady answering the phone, this turned into 5 minutes and eventually being cut off. Called back instantly and was told to wait 1 minute again but this time was waiting 10 minutes. During this time I could hear someone arranging glasses, dealing with guests, serving drinks etc. I could hear a man asking the young lady whether a customer was on hold and her reply was “yes, I’m just seeing to table 1 then I’ll get back to them”, she never got back to me to take my order and neither did the man asking the question. I asked several times whether anyone was on the other line, trying to get someone’s attention to take my order, got bored of waiting and decided to hand up and call back a 3rd time. The young lady answered again so I explained that I’ve been on hold for 15 minutes in total and the response I got was “yes we’re really busy, what do you want”. This is not how you treat customers, no matter how busy you are. It takes less than a minute to take an order and clearly I wasn’t a priority. Such a shame, this has been my go to takeaway restaurant for almost 2 years now but based on this experience I won’t be returning. Well done Alams Lounge 👏🏽

Stopped off between Newcastle and Sheffield, wanted some good indian food. Only here alone, but they were kind enough to entertain me. Highly recommend Saag Paneer 'Desi style'. Do try!

Had a great meal and service from Alams lounge . It was my daughters pre birthday meal and my Brother was visiting from abroad. The staff couldn't do enough for us. My wife is disabled and relies on a wheelchair to get about. They were amazing really understanding and accommodating . The starters and main course were the best I've had . Well done and we will be calling again.

Ordered from this restaurant before and always had good food however this time the food tasted bland and not to the usual standard. In addition, on this occasion to my wife's horror she found a used staple (yes you read that correctly) in her food! What made this even worse was that she only discovered it after the food was in her mouth. Very disappointing (not to mention dangerous) and so will not be ordering from here again.

A bit disappointed with the restaurant,very cold atmosphere and the the music was like capital FM on in background and was very loud,not authentic one bit no alcohol served which was strange so opted for 2 bottles of coke we decided to eat elsewhere and paid for the 2 cokes.....£6.90 are you having a laugh??I said to one of the girls who didn't look interest one bit in working there,no wonder no body in....we left and went to darton balti which was far superior...not recommend restaurant bit

It's been a while since I've been here but I'm sure the food has got better although not sure if that is possible.

First time i order from here bad experience, of course i will never order again, i found a rubber band in a green dish which was very hard to spot because it looks like a green pepper. Also besides that big rubber piece there is a small piece also, so who knows how many pieces are there in the food, therefore it went to garbage.

Brilliant team and owner. Initially had issues with Uber Eats allowing me to order even though I am much too far for delivery - (the app measured the distance completely wrong). Understandably, the restaurant rang me to inform me they would be unable to deliver. However, causing further issues, Uber would not allow us to cancel the order and issue a refund. Despite this, the owner and drivers personally went out of their way to sort the problem and have agreed to honour and deliver the food. Outside of Uber creating problems for both me and the restaurant, the food is great and service absolutely fantastic. Can't recommend enough.

We travel here from the far side of Doncaster (a two hour round trip) and its definitely worth it. Beautiful food (the chicken village special is worth a try), nice atmosphere and the young women serving coups not have been more helpful and attentive, as was the young man who took out payment at the end of the evening. We have continued to visit here since we moved to Doncaster 18 months ago and I don't see that changing, its worth the trip.

Food was decent but very oily. The young women serving were brilliant. However, we were embarrassed in front of a full restaurant when the boss asked to check the labels on the drinks we had taken...and told not to drink one of them as it was non alcoholic. We should have been made aware of this on entry.
